This unit runs on propane and you're gonna get a 30 amp and a 20 amp breaker. Now folks, if your old generator finally gave out, this Onan 5,500 will fit an exact same spot as your original. Or maybe you bought an RV or a camper that just didn't have one, but it already had a spot ready. You should have everything pretty much ready for hookup.
You basically have to look, hook up the fuel line, the electrical, and the exhaust. But most of the major work should already be done for you. You have a nice, reliable one-touch startup, it's gonna keep your RV, the AC fridge, essentials, everything running, and it is an extra quiet operation. It's got nice soundproofing built in here, and also an enclosed muffler that's gonna give you quieter days and quieter nights. The sound level's only 69 decibels, and this meets National Park service requirements of a max of 60 decibels at 50 feet. As you probably already know, you can simply come up here, pop out the main panel here in the front and get a better grip on it. So there you go, and now you have access to the oil, the filter, and then your switches and your circuit breakers as well.
Now normally that's all you would need to access. I went ahead and took off the four main bolts on the housing. So let's get this off to show you the inside. Now again, the inside of the housing has sound dampening built into it as well, but now we can see the main part of this generator. And like I said, you have this nice extra quiet muffler here.
The enclosed muffler is gonna keep it nice and quiet. This also has a spark arrest built into it, so it's safe for national forests, campgrounds. You don't have to worry about mods or anything like that. Now, this also has nice built in protection. So shutoffs are built in for low oil. If it overloads, any kind of in engine issue, you can just relax, knowing this will automatically shut itself down and basically save itself. Now over here on the sides, you have your main wires for wiring this up into the RV, you have the main plug, and then you have, again, your main panel here as well. The tray that it sits in is a universal mounting tray, it uses a four point vibration isolation system. So basically that just means it can shake, rattle, do its thing, and that's gonna help keep it quiet, number one, but also help everything stay nice and quiet in the RV, camper, or whatnot as well. Now if you're worried about any kind of maintenance, it's pretty straightforward and simple. No need to be a mechanic, you just need some basic tools, a couple minutes, and you can keep this running for many, many years to come by yourself. Now, one last image before we go for today.
