Powerful, Portable Generators

These inverter generators pack 3,800 watts of combined power to get you up and running whether you're at the campsite, worksite, or tailgate party. They let you use the items you want and need, such as tools, small appliances, televisions, radios, fans, and lights. These lightweight units have carry handles right on top, making them easy to tote wherever you go.

Built-in Parallel Ability

A-iPower SUA2000i inverter generator has built-in parallel ability

Each of these A-iPower generators come equipped with parallel ability that lets you easily pair them with each other to produce 3,800 watts of power. By pairing them up, you can run equipment with higher electrical demands. The included connection cables simply plug into the corresponding ports on the back of each generator. Because the parallel ability is built in, you don't have to purchase a separate kit and remember to bring it with you.

Safe for Sensitive Electronic Devices

Each of these A-iPower generators uses a built-in inverter to produce clean AC power, making the generators safe to use with your electronic devices such as laptops and cell phones.

Electronic devices are made with delicate circuitry that requires steady, controlled electrical current. The electrical current produced by standard generators, however, is uncontrolled, allowing extreme fluctuations in power. And these fluctuations can easily damage your sensitive electronic devices.

These A-iPower generators, on the other hand, have built-in inverters that control the voltage that is produced. This important feature ensures that each generator is safe to use with your electronic equipment such as computers and medical devices.

Easy-Start Engine

Each A-iPower generator's engine is designed to start up easily so you can power up faster and without hassle. The key to this easy startup is the elimination of excess fuel in the carburetor after each use. When the generator is turned off, the engine will continue to run for a few seconds to allow excess gas in the carburetor to burn off. Because the excess gas is burned off and not left to stagnate, the A-iPower generator will start up much easier and faster than a generator that contains old fuel in its engine.

Before starting your generator, ensure nothing is connected to the outlets. Start your generator and let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up and stabilize. Check to make sure the circuit breaker is in on position before continuing. Once the generator is up and running, you may connect your electrical loads. To follow the recommended order of operation, connect the device with the highest starting watts first, like your air conditioner or refrigerator, and work your way down to the device with the lowest starting watts. By connecting devices in this order, you can make the most of your generator's capacity through connecting high wattage loads when there is more power available.

Multi-Switch Provides Simple Operation

A-iPower SUA2000i inverter generator multi-switch

The multi-switch on the A-iPower generator integrates the fuel on/off, choke on/off, and engine on/off functions so that operation is a no-brainer. Simply turn the multi-switch to "on" and pull the recoil start. Then move the switch to the "run" position right after the generator starts. Finally, turn the switch to "off" when you're ready to turn off the generator. Because the choke is automatic, there is no separate choke switch to worry about.

Eco Throttle Engine Speed Options

A-iPower SUA2000i inverter generator has Eco Throttle, or 2 engine speeds

You can choose between 2 modes of engine operation with a flip of a switch using the generator's Eco Throttle feature:

  1. Eco mode adjusts engine speed to match the power demands of your connected devices. In this mode, the engine runs only as fast as is necessary, keeping noise to a minimum and saving fuel. And this mode is not only kinder to your pocketbook and your ears, it's also easier on the environment.
  2. High mode operates the engine at a steady high speed. This setting is used for high-load situations or during frequent on-and-off cycling of electrical devices.

Safety Features

Each A-iPower 2,000-watt generator also comes with many safety features that protect both you and the generator itself. For instance, a low-oil indicator light lets you know when you need to add more oil. If oil levels remain too low to continue operation, the shutoff feature safeguards the generator's engine by automatically shutting down the generator. A built-in spark arrester helps prevent any sparking that might burn someone or start a fire, protecting both you and the environment.

Choosing a Generator

To choose a generator that meets your needs, you must match the size of the generator (that is, the starting output and running output in watts) with the electrical demands of the equipment that you want to operate.

Power Demands

Starting (surge) wattage is the power a device requires at startup. Running (rated) wattage is the power needed to keep the device running. A large appliance with an electric motor such as a furnace, refrigerator, air conditioner, or washing machine may require 2 to 3 times more starting wattage than running wattage.

It is always best to start your generator with no load connected, then add each device one at a time. Additionally, a good practice to consider is connecting your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. As you connect and start devices, your available wattage decreases. This order of operation allows you to start devices with the highest power demands when there is more power available.

Determining Your Power Needs

When choosing a generator, knowing the amount of power you will need is crucial to your decision. Whether you are preparing for an emergency situation at home or taking a weekend trip in the RV, planning out your application is essential. The two calculations below provide power estimations that will help point you to a generator that is right for your needs.

Industry Standard Calculation

The Industry Standard Calculation is a quick and easy way to determine your required wattage. It may provide some padding in your wattage requirements, which could give you more power than you actually need, but you shouldn't have to worry about not having enough power. The following steps will help you quickly calculate the correct size generator to meet your application.

As stated earlier, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation requires this approach to work. However, using this calculation removes the worry of connecting devices in a certain order.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for the devices that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List all of your starting watts and running watts as seen in Table 1 below.

Table 1

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air compressor2,0001,000
Refrigerator1,600800
Microwave01,000
Blender850400

2. To find the total starting watts required, add the starting watts for the device with the highest value to the running watts of all the other devices from Table 1.

2,000 + 800 + 1,000 + 400 = 4,200 total starting watts

3. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 1.

1,000 + 800 + 1,000 + 400 = 3,200 total running watts

To run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 4,200 starting watts and 3,200 running watts.

Advanced Precise Calculation

While the method for calculating your power needs outlined above will work, it isn't the most precise. If you aren't afraid of doing a little more math, you can use the Advanced Precise Calculation to get a more accurate idea of how much power you will need and potentially save yourself some money. Because the calculation above pads in enough power to ensure you can start your devices in any order, it may point you to a bigger and more expensive generator than you need. However, by following the more regimented, order-of-operations calculation below, you'll get a much more precise idea of how much power you need, which could in turn point you to a smaller and less expensive generator.

Again, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation also requires that you start your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. When you connect devices in this order, you can start high demand devices when there is more power available.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List out these devices from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts as seen in Table 2 below.

Table 2

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air compressor2,0001,000
Refrigerator1,600800
Microwave01,000
Blender850400

2. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 2.

1,000 + 800 + 1,000 + 400 = 3,200 total running watts

3. In Table 3, shown below, the values from Table 2 are used to calculate the highest total starting watts required as devices are connected and running. This number represents the highest power requirement you will encounter as you connect all of your devices to the generator. To find this, add the starting watts of each new device you connect to the combined running watts of all connected devices. The highest of these numbers will be the total starting watts required. And again, remember to always connect devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts.

Table 3

DeviceStarting WattsRunning Watts of All Connected DevicesTotal Starting Watts Required
1. Air compressor2,000 +0 (nothing connected)= 2,000
2. Refrigerator1,600 +1,000 (air compressor)= 2,600
3. Microwave1,000* +1,800 (air compressor + refrigerator)= 2,800
4. Blender850 +2,800 (air compressor + refrigerator + microwave)= 3,650

* Even though the microwave does not have starting watts listed, you have to account for the power needed to actually run it.

850 + 2,800 = 3,650 highest total starting watts required

In order to run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 3,650 starting watts and 3,200 running watts. The starting watts are determined by the highest total starting watts required during the calculation in Table 3/Step 3. The running watts are determined by the total running watts from Step 2.

Video Transcript for A-iPower Generators - Inverter - 289-SUA2000I-2 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the A-iPower inverter generators. Two inverter generators with built-in parallel ability provide a portable power source. Each generator offers one 120-volt outlet to power household appliances, tools, and electronic devices. It's also going to have the one 120-volt 30-amp L5-30R Twist-Lock receptacle, and it's going to feature one 12-volt DC adapter outlet. The units feature parallel ability. It's built in.

It's also going to come with the included connection cables that let you easily pair the generator. That way it produces up to 4,000 watts of power when used together. You can use each one individually. This is great for times when you don't need the full 4,000 watts of power. These generators are smaller and much easier to move around and transport than a single larger generator. These inverters let you safely charge and run electronic devices.

Each one is going to feature a Senci 00:01:03 4-stroke engine that uses standard, unleaded gas so that way there's no need to mix gas and oil. It's also going to feature cast iron cylinder sleeves that help ensure long engine life. It's going to have the easy-start engine that offers hassle free startup. The generator runs for about two to three seconds after it's shut off and that's designed to burn excess gas in the carburetor. This is going to help prevent failed startups due to stagnant fuel. It's also going to feature a really neat design which is the multi-switch.

This integrates the fuel on and off, choke on and off, and engine on and off functions for a simple operation. You're going to have off, run, and start, a really nice design, all built in to one switch which is why it's called a multi-switch design. It's also going to feature the comfort grip. Ergonomically designed recoil pull handle provides easy manual startup. It's also going to feature what's called an Eco-Throttle that provides two engine modes.

Your Eco-Throttle switch is located right here on each generator. The Eco Mode keeps the engine RPM just high enough to power plugged-in devices. It's going to save fuel and reduce noise. Then you're going to have high mode which maintains high engine RPM. That's best for power demands of high draw or rapid cycling devices. These are know for quiet operation. They won't drown out campground conversations. It's going to feature built-in safety features that promote accident-free use. You're going to have some warning lights here on the front. These are your LED lights. A warning light comes on when the oil is low and the engine is also designed to automatically shut down if the oil level becomes too low for safe use. You're also going to have a warning indicator that lights up if a circuit is overloaded. You're going to have automatic voltage regulator that's AVR which helps minimize voltage fluctuations and it's going to be equipped with the spark arrester which prevents release of flammable debris. Here on top next to the fuel cap, it's going to have a fuel gauge. This is an easy to read fuel gauge that lets you know when the gas level is low. It's going to feature a clean running engine that meets CARB and UPA standards and these are very portable. Each generator weighs about 46 pounds and it's going to have the included built-in carrying handles which makes them easy to move around and transport and relocate if needed. When it comes to the starting or surge power output for the entire unit, so with them connected we're looking at 4,000 watts running or rated. Power output is 3,200 watts. Power line frequency is 60 htz. Some additional specs for a single generator, starting surge power output is 2,000 watts. Running or rated power output is 1,600 watts. The running VAC amperage is 13.3 amps. DC output at 12 volts is 8.3 amps. Continuous run time at rated load is 4 hours. A 1/2 load is 7 hours and then each one is a compact design. They're only going to measure about 20 inches long by about 11 inches wide by about 19 inches tall. The noise level was measured at 23 feet away and came in at 65 decibels at 1/2 load. Just to give you an idea of how that compares, normal conversation was rated at 60 decibels. The engine type, it's a Sinci 79 cc single cylinder, air cooled, 4-stroke OHV engine. Engine horsepower is 2.5. Fuel tank capacity is 1.1 gallon. Oil capacity is 0.4 quarts and oil type is SAE 10W30. To gain access to the fuel tank, it's got the cap right here on top. It's also going to come with a fuel filter to keep unwanted items out of the gasoline. Each cap is also vented so you can open the vent or you can close the vent, a really nice design of the unit. Each generator has a ground terminal located here at the bottom corner. That can be used to properly ground the generator to prevent electrical shock. A really nice design of the control panel, very easy to use, very easy to navigate. Please keep in mind that gas generators produce carbon monoxide which is poisonous so for your safety you always want to be sure to operate the gas-powered generators outdoors. A couple more things. Located right here you're going to have a sticker on each generator that tells you the type of spark plug that it uses. You're also going to have this rubber cap and when removed, gives you access to use a spark plug wrench which is included. You're actually going to get two of these. That way you can easily remove and install the spark plug. To gain access to the oil fill and the spark plug cover, you'll need to remove this panel. They also include two screwdrivers, one per generator. You can use these to remove the screws, remove the panel, gain access to the oil fill and to the spark plug cover so that way you can remove it. Use the wrench, drop down here on top, to remove and install the spark plug. A couple more accessories that it's going to come with; you're going to get two of these cables. These are going to be the 12-volt adapter cable. It's got the cigarette-style adapter or plug on it. It goes in there and then you've got your alligator clips. That way you can run it to a battery and you can actually use the generator to charge your battery. You're going to get two of those. You're also going to get two 30-amp RV adapters. Nice design there and you're going to get another set of parallel cables so you're going to get two sets of parallel cables to connect the generators together. You're going to get two oil funnels as well. Of course it's going to come with your owners manual, operating instructions and all of that stuff also. That's going to do it for today's look at the A-iPower inverter generators.

I purchased the 289-SUA2000i-2 for my camper. I placed them on a carrier attached to the trailer receiver and everything worked great.....EXCEPT... while the generater were run i went into the camper and the vibrations were so bad i had to turn the generators off. do you have any suggeations.generators started on the firt pull and ran great. 542528

Comments
Unfortunately, the vibrations you mentioned are unavoidable. Any internal combustion engine will have a certain amount of vibration, because your cargo tray is attached to a hitch bolted to the campers frame, that vibration is transmitted directly to the structure of your camper. Some sort of closed-cell foam mat might help isolate the vibration from the camper.

I have used these generator for power at my sight in AZ for 6 month that I'm there, which has no power to it, up to 12 hour on some days and they ran just great. They have not gave me any problems what so ever, they are great products and I would recommend these with great confidence to any one that need a generator. 580767

I bought 2. They start easily and are pretty quiet. Easy to move around . Both connected in parallel will NOT run my RV air conditioner. 568837

Comments
When set up in parallel, the 289-SUA2000i-2 generator set has a startup or surge max power output of 3800 watts, and a max running output of 3000 watts. In order to determine if this will be sufficient to run your RV A/C unit, youll need to know the max amount of power needed for start up. If the compressor for your A/C requires more than 3800 watts to start, this generator set wont be sufficient.

The generators are reasonably quiet. Don't be mislead by reviews suggesting that they will run even a small new rooftop RV A/C in parallel. That has not been my experience. Maybe with the EZ start capacitor modification, but in stock form the A/C overloads the gens. 605265

Received generators today. One box was torn pretty badly but there appears to be no damage to the generator. I added oil and inspected them. They appear to be well made with some nice features not found on others. Raining here so will have to postpone the start-up for a day or two. 487296

Comments
I purchased 2 of those generators and after reading many reviews I thought that they would power the ac on my camp trailer. I was wrong they will not start the ac and they will not run the microwave. So, all that being said they do work, as I can run lights and tv but for me and my intent they were a waste of money. I now need a larger generator that I can’t afford so they sit in my shed and gather dust.

eTrailer service was fantastic! The 5-star rating is for eTrailers, not the product. Yet. (See below) I just received the generators and have forwarded them on to my friends in hurricane-torn Puerto Rico, where they will certainly be put to the test. Updates once they arrive there! 444247

We used it to keep the battery charged and odd and ends worded like a champ and we can still talk with it running what more could you ask for. 508180

Well it has been a year and it still runs like a champ. We have ran it all night for heat and it runs 8-12 hrs on a tank of gas and we stay warm. We have since bought an electric coffee pot to and it works great.

Review from a similar A-iPower Senci Motor in Generators

After a year of use on my SeaRay 290 sundancer I am extremely satisified with these inverters. I purchased 2. they came with the connector so I have 2 sets of cables for them. Both of these were several hundred $ less than 1 Honda. Honda might be a little quieter but with both running in ECO mode noise is not an issue for us in the cabin at night. And unless it is really hot and humid they will run 8-9 hours on a tank running my boats A/C, Outlets, frig, and charging boat battery. They start right up. outside is all plastic or rubber. even spark plug is covered with rubber cover. These is great with the salt water environment they are exposed too. I simply wash them with soapy water when I get home and spray exhaust with an anti-corrosive spray. Done! They still look like and perform like new. Probably 80-100 hours on them. 575498

Review from a similar A-iPower Senci Motor in Generators

I have purchased one of these over a year ago and love it. It’s quiet and just runs. There is a small sputter once in a while but what small gas engine doesn’t do this. This thing runs everything in the camper but the AC. Side note, it will run the AC but it won’t start it. That is why I just bought this one to run in parallel. It will start the AC now and once it’s going I shut one off. You can buy a bigger unit but they are much bigger and heavier. These units are small and fit in the pass through storage in my camper. The price, this is the main reason I bought these, they work just as good as the other top two and have the same quality build. I’m not a brand shopper and always look for a fare price on my purchases. The name brands are great, but they are priced to high and I can buy two of these for just one of the others. 702694

Review from a similar A-iPower Senci Motor in Generators

I love this little generator. We got this as a backup for power outages and also to run our camper when boondocking. The generator worked great during a couple of hurricane related power outages last year to power lamps, satellite internet modem and wi-fi routers, and pumps and heaters on my saltwater aquarium. We have used it on a number of occasions to run the 5000 btu window unit in our camper along with the camper’s other 120 VAC equipment. We haven’t tried running the 1300 Watt microwave yet. The only time I had it overload was when trying to run a small keurig coffee maker and the air-conditioner simultaneously. I’ve since measured power usage of both and found that the Keurig spikes to about 1350 Watts for 30-60 seconds and that the AC unit uses about 600 Watts running (1600 Watts start-up). So, the 2 together are over what the generator is rated to produce. This is such a lightweight and quiet unit. I have also used it to power an air compressor and circular saw on a part of my property where I don’t have power. It didn’t miss a beat. 699930

Review from a similar A-iPower Senci Motor in Generators

I bought this generator to run my camper. It is easy to start and very quiet, especially on eco mode. It has plenty of power to run a camper. It is basically the same as the [competing brand], just half the price. I did originally get one that had a manufacturing defect that caused it to leak gas, but I conta Ted etrailer and they sent me another one the next day. I have bought a lot of stuff for my truck and camper from etrailer and they are very easy to work with. They have great customer service. 697513

We purchased this for power outages. Have had 2 this year. It ran lights and a window a/c. Winter outage ran lights and Woodstove blower. I run the generator for an hour month for maintenance reasons. I have also run our refrigerator from this. Runs great! 690506

  • What Is Noise Level For A-iPower Inverter Generators
I found one sight online that rated the Honda EU 2000i decibel output at 59 decibels at 1/4 power. I was not able to find more specs on that model and we do not carry that generator. For the A-iPower Inverter Generators, part # 289-SUA2000I-2, the noise level is given for one unit. At a distance of 23-ft the decibel level is 65 at 1/2 power.

These are shown in the linked video and they feature Senci 4-stroke engines with cast iron cylinder sleeves for long wear and their combined 3000-watt running power output is substantial. Plus they are EPA and CARB certified. You can also refer to the linked article on portable generators for more details that may help you decide on your best option. We do not sell Honda...

When wiring anything in parallel you double the amperage so yes, when the two generators of the A-Ipower generator kit part # 289-SUA2000i-2 are ran together in parallel you do get 26 amps of AC power. When something is wired in series instead the voltage is doubled but the amperage stays the same.

A-iPower 3,800-Watt Inverter Generator - Portable - Gas - 120 Volts # 289-SUA2000I-2 is a popular generator system because it has parallel output that allows you to pair each 2,000-watt generator with another for increased power output. I reached out to the manufacturer and they said customers have confirmed that they work in up to 10,000 feet without jets needed. • Troubleshooting Multi-Switch on A-ipower Parallel Generator
The housing on the switch may not be as sturdy as the other parallel generator, but as long as it functions properly I wouldn't be concerned. You can always look at the housing to see if it has any issue or if the fit is simply not as tight but all the connections are still firm and correct. If you bought them recently there is a 1 year parts and labor warranty as well as a 2 year parts replacement warranty. It could very well be that the switch just needs tightening, but it could...
