Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Easily attach a variety of accessories to the front of your vehicle with this fully welded, corrosion-resistant trailer hitch receiver. Perfect for winches, spare tire carriers and more.

When you match up the bottom holes through the trailer hitch receiver with the holes on the bottom of the truck frame, the top hole where the long bolt goes through the frame and tow hook isn't even close to lining up and there isn't enough metal to drill a larger hole in the receiver hitch. I wound up having to cut out a slot on each side of the hitch so I could get the long bolts through the frame and tow hooks. This certainly weakened the weight capacity of the hitch. The Draw-Tite people need to pay more attention to accuracy.

2016 GMC Sierra

Quality hitch and the excellent service all the way around I'm used to getting from etrailer over the years. Installed on my 2016 Sierra Denali 2500HD, note instructions say on first line down that it does not fit the Denali trim due to extensive fascia cutting required; actually it was quite simple with the aid of a 4-1/2" cutoff disk and a sawzall. Installation is much easier with two people. See attached pics for actual material removed, note the lower fascia need not be cut for the hitch to fit through the hole. Maybe more work to install than the Curt hitch, but well worth the additional ground clearance.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Well built. Very tight fit on my ‘17 2500 Silverado. Getting the hitch into the proper position was more of a challenge than I expected. It took two people to install it. One to apply leverage and the second to install the bolts once the holes lined up. Minor cutting on the metal support for the bottom edge of the front end. I’m sure I could have avoided the cutting if I could have figured out how to disassemble the bumper. We got it all done in a few hours.

The packaging could be better. The were holes in the box where the hitch broke through but all the parts were present and it’s kind of hard to damage this receiver.

The only reason I didn’t rate five stars is that I couldn’t install it alone and the receiver does appear to be fabricated about 1/4” off center. Both of these I consider to be minor problems but problems nonetheless.

Knowing everything I know now after getting the install completed, I would purchase this item again. I would also recommend this receiver to anyone looking for a front hitch for a ‘17 2500 Silverado.

by:

Excellent well built receiver. The instructions however are a little misleading. The instructions refer to “Trimming the Facia” which sounds like a simple procedure when you actually must saw a square hole in the steel bumper. It takes some effort and know how. I wouldn’t attempt to install it if I didn’t have the proper tools and the ability to make things fit that don’t want to fit. Ask if I’d do it again? Most definitely.

Got the front mount hitch 65078 on time. Installed the next day. Installed in less that 2 hours on my 2013 GMC Sierra 2500. Was a perfect but very close/tight fit. Some bolts were a challenge to get in but all went in without any modifications.

Installed relatively easily but ended up selling the truck before I used it.

It fits perfectly. It extends far enough out to make it easy to slide in the hitch pin without crawling under the truck. It was exactly as described on your website. Great accurate review

Package arrived within the estimated timeframe and installed it the same day. Haven't used it yet but I will be putting a large hitch carrier on it and it'll have around 100+lbs on it all the time, I'm sure it'll be fine.
I installed it on my 2012 Silverado 3500 and it was a very very tight fit. After pounding on it with a hammer and losing and tightening each side to pull it one way and adjust it, was finally able to get all the bolts in. An additional 1/16" would have been nice to have as the bolts that hold down the backside of the tow hooks weren't making it as I couldn't get the holes to align for a while, but I did eventually get it.
It sure isn't going anywhere.

by:
2018 GMC Sierra 3500

The instructions were easy to follow and installed quickly. There was a fitment issue. I had to remove two of the valance screws to get it to bolt up on my Gmc. There were also several spots that the paint/powdercoat was flaking off. Seems sturdy and should work well for my application.

Ordered front receiver from etrailer and received producy very quickly . I will be using receiver for surf fishing rack.

2017 GMC Sierra 2500

Fit perfect on my 2017 GMC Denali 2500HD Duramax! Very minor trimming of the sheet metal behind the license plate. I cut the front plastic first, based on the directions using a dremel tool. Once i did that, it gave me access to the sheet metal behind to cut out. One that was done, the receiver fit in place and bolted down with out a hitch! No pun intended :)

by:

Went pretty well. Nice design and functional. Good directions and parts were all there. I would recommend highly.

by:

The instructions were solid, but your installation video helped tremendously. Only challenge was measuring for the cutout, which is done on the less angled license plate holder, but still difficult to get accurate measurements. In your video where you point out that the cutout may not be enough on the top was true for me also as I had to remove an additional 1/8" in order for the bolts to align properly for re-installing. Also, using a 3/8" bit works on the less angled top holes, but probably should be a smaller long bit (1/8") on the bottom two holes and then enlarged because the larger bit wants to dance all over the angled surface that must be cut out ... no matter how level you try to keep the drill. I purchased the Draw-site to more easily allow carrying our bikes while towing our Airstream, which is not suited well for rear bike carriers.

by:

Great product! Front hitch receiver is built and coated well. Installation took about an hour. Instructions were spot on. I will be using it to haul 2 electric bikes while I pull our 5th wheel camper.

by:

All went perfectly. This was "not my first rodeo" when installing various adaptations to my vehicles. Examples are trailer receivers (back of vehicle), trailer hitches, sway bars, levelers; truck air bags and front replacement "bumps", and now a front receiver for various reasons (most notably for mounting my Aventon ebike). Thanks again for reasonably priced hardware that every time fit perfectly.

by:

It’s a heavy duty product I’ll give it that. But I had to do some fabrication of my own. Did not line up underneath my frame to be mounted. Also the square washer to hold the carriage bolts in place did not keep them still when tightening down. Had to run to my local store and store and grab something else.

by:

Hitch fit perfectly, cut hole with a 4” hole saw, looks great. Looking forward to years of good use.

by:

Used to haul kayaks when towing fifth wheel, I had same set up on a older truck it works good. I have hauled this way thousands of miles it works very well.

by:

Delivery was excellent and no damage. Item was well built. Can’t say it was as easy to put on as the video showed but we got it together and it looks very nice. We made a few adjustments and reattached the front license plate (photo). Has cleaner look. Added some special touches (photo). etrailer rocks again.

by:
2013 GMC Sierra

Just finished install, by myself. Actual install about 15 min. after finding my tools etc... Fit and installation was a breeze, only shed a few drops of blood when the guide wires for feeding the interior bolts came off and poked my fingers. This is actually a record for me, I usually injure myself anytime I do anything!

by:

Blend’s in well. Hauls generator and camp box. If I remember right took some on the spot fabrication for All holes to line up. Nothing major

by:

The hitch was easy to install. The only issue is who ever welded it put the front ring on and it's turned to one side. It functions fine but bothers my OCD.

by:
2016 GMC Sierra 2500

Trimming out fascia was most of the work. Bolts on easy. Makes maneuvering trailers in tight spots a whole lot easier.

fit perfect on our 2019 Chevy 2500HD we have a surf rack mounted to it when we go to the beach

  • Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch for 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500
You are right on the money; the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65078 is simply the newer version of the front mount hitch that fits your 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500. It replaced hitch part 65068, which you referenced and which also fit your '15 Silverado 3500. I have added a link to a video install on a Silverado 3500 for you to take a look at, as well as a link to the written instructions to check out.

  • Recommended Front-Mounted Trailer Hitch For A 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel
Hi Michael, I have a couple of options for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 (diesel) to choose from. The first is the Draw-Tite # 65078 and the second is the Curt # C31071. Both have the same exact specifications when it comes to capacities but their one clear difference is where the receiver tube comes out. The Draw-Tite receiver tube is going to require you to trim a hole in the front air dam to allow it to stick through. The Curt receiver tube sits lower so that it can clear the front...

No, I am sorry it won't. There's been two generation changes since your hitch came out. Neither the Curt item # C31023 or the Draw-Tite item # 65078 front hitches that fit your 2013 Chevy Silverado 3500 will fit a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500. To add a front mount hitch to your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 you will need the Curt item # C52NR you were looking at. I have linked an installation video below to help you get it set up.

  • Front Mounted Receiver for 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali Diesel
We do have a front mounted receiver option that would work for your truck, but the Draw-Tite # 65078 isn't a good fit for the Denali trim. The Denali front clip is different than the other trim levels, and in order to install the hitch major surgery would need to be preformed on the front fascia. Major enough that Draw-Tite states that it isn't a fit. The Curt # C31071 however, is a confirmed fit because the receiver tube is designed to exit below the fascia. I've provided a photo showing...

It sounds like you've already seen that the Draw-Tite front mount hitch, part # 65078, isn't confirmed to fit your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 because of the Denali trim package.
