Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

etrailer.com Technical Support

I installed this on a 2011 4WD Silverado. It went well once I removed the air dam. I want to use a front mount bike rack while towing a travel trailer.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

We installed my new front mount trailer hitch this morning on my 2003 1500 4x4 pickup (new body style) we opened the box at 7:39 AM and complete at 8:14 AM (35 MINUTES) The instructions and materials furnished to me by you was top shelf.I had my truck up on my service rack which I am sure helped the install but I know I could have installed laying on the ground in less than 1 hour.Obviousley your R&D Department are doing there job and understand a lot of us self perform work on our vehicles.I do not want to leave out the order process and the people that pull orders and the shipping department everything went text book for me. I took pictures of the entire install I can email from my phone if I could get a email address I do not know how to add them to this review

Youre welcome, Rene! Thanks for the photos. The hitch looks awesome on your Tahoe!

by:

Fit great - well engineered - strong. I carry e bikes on the front of my Yukon while trailer camping. Allows us to drive, then bike, without hassle. Second vehicle I’ve outfitted this way.

by:

The "no drill" aspect is really nice. The wire bolt guides are a huge helper.
The instructions are very good except for detailing where to cut the trim. This lead to me cutting more than I would have needed to. That part was not good.
I recommend having vehicle up on ramps and then using a car jack to support weight of the hitch as it is quite heavy to hold up as you begin to assemble to the frame.

by:
2010 ChevroletSilverado

Very sturdy hitch, extremely easy install. If you already have your air dam removed there is no cutting or modification at all, completely bolt on. Make sure you have both front load bearing washers centered before you completely bolt down the hitch. I didn't need any alignment washers on the back brace it was very level as is, if you are using this for winching keep in mind it will affect your approach exit angles. Overall a great product!

by:

Easy to install, if you follow the instructions! Has been perfect for our bike rack.

by:

Installation was easy except for cutting the front air damn, that took a bit longer than expected and didn't come out as neat as I would have hoped but that's no reflection on the receiver hitch. I've now used it twice for a front bike rack while on RAGBRAI. Other than modifying the air damn installation was easy and straight forward!!

Congratulations on RAGBRAI. How did you like Iowa? Lot's of cornfields!

by:

nicely made. Good instructions. Mounting holes in the hitch did not align exactly right with the truck frame holes - close but had to really work at it. Finally went in correctly and the hitch is solid. I took the entire air dam off because it looked like we'd have to cut almost in two anyway.

GMC

I bought this front mount trailer hitch for my GMC work truck for moving boats and also we hook a large sliding winch to the front of the truck.
This was super easy for me to install by myself and it’s performed flawlessly so far really happy with it.

by:

I use it on my truck to move my trailered boats.
Much easier to push a boat backwards with truck
than to back with truck. Especially in tight spots.
Note:
I use a 5 wire trailer wiring kit (3 wires cutoff) to
disable brakes on surge trailer brakes when
pushing backwards.

by:
2011 ChevroletSilverado

Hidden Hitch front hitch installed easily in about 2 hours. Hitch was in good shape from shipping but the etrailer shipping box was mostly destroyed by the freight handlers ??! Good news is---the hitch being one piece with all the parts secured to it by plastic wrap was not breakable. Installed hitch with a perfect fit. Trimming the front air dam below the bumper was easy with a hacksaw and Exacto knife.

by:
2011 Chevrolet Avalanche

Very easy and straightforward instruction to install with everything you need with out needing to remove any car parts.

by:
Chevrolet Suburban

I’ll always have a front hitch on any truck/suburban from now on. So convenient for coolers and for loading up a deer. Pulling camper didn’t allow me to have my cargo basket until now. No more putting coolers in the suburban.

by:
2012 ChevroletSilverado

Very impressed, it's a heavy duty hitch. Installation was not difficult at all on a 2012 Chevy Silverado WT 4x4, once I figured out I had to temporarily remove the front tow hooks to enable the hitch bolt and retainer enough room to slide in place. Tow hook removal and replacement was easy, use an 18mm socket.

by:

Item arrived quickly and in great shape. Install went easy with zero issues. Took me about an hour to install but I worked at my leisure and didn’t rush. Product looks sturdy and bolted right up according to instructions. I recommend removing tow hooks and valance for ease of installation. I trimmed the balance and it looks like it came from the factory. Highly recommend both the hitch and etrailer for anyone looking to do the same. Thanks Etrailer!

2010 GMC Yukon

This is a very well-built product. It gives a lot of confidence. I won't ever have anything more than a bike rack attached to it, so it's a bit overkill for my use, but that's ok. I installed it on a 2010 GMC Yukon. It does push up on the center of the front bumper plastic even after cutting the air dam. Overall, I'm happy with it.

by:
2013 GMC Sierra

Front hitch Installed easily and fit my Sierra 1500 perfectly. Fast shipping and friendly service. I'll buy from etrailer again!

by:
2008 ChevroletSilverado

The hitch I received work perfect. The only thing is if you have tow hooks you will half to remove them. It makes it a lot easier to install hitch. Then replace tow hooks.

by:

Easy installation and such an ease of place 23 ft travel trailer back into its spot after camping trip.

  • Recommended Front Hitch for a 2008 GMC 1500 4x4 that Provides the Most Clearance
Currently, 2 front mount hitches fit your 2008 GMC 1500 4x4. They are the Curt # 31322 and Draw-Tite # 65052. Both have a 500 pound vertical pull and 9,000 pound line pull. The specifications on the Draw-Tite hitch # 65052 from the top of the mounting brackets to the bottom of the receiver hitch is 7-3/4 inches. See diagram I included. You will need to measure down from the bottom of your frame 7-3/4 inches and from that point measure to the ground to obtain your clearance amount. Curt...

  • Front Hitch With More Ground Clearance For 2013 GMC Yukon
For your 2013 GMC Yukon, the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65052 will give you about a 1/2 inch more ground clearance than the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31012. Having said that, I do recommend the Curt hitch over the Draw-Tite. While it does require drilling into the frame, that does make the installation simpler as it you'll simply bolt the hitch up into those holes. The Draw-Tite partially attaches to the frame's splash shield, and it also requires taping...

  • Difference Between The Draw-Tite 65052 And Curt C31012 Front Mount Trailer Hitches
The only real difference between the Draw-Tite # 65052 and Curt # C31012 is the style in which they bolt to the frame. The Draw-Tite is going to have a bolt on each frame rail and one on the crossmember, whereas the Curt is going to have three bolts on each frame rail. The Curt hitch is a bit more aesthetically pleasing whereas the Draw-Tite is more of just a get the the job down and don't worry about looks kind of hitch. • Difference Between Curt Hitch # 31322 and Draw Tite Hitch # 65052
Both the Curt Front Hitch part # 31322 and the Draw Tite part # 65052 are a fit for the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500. They have similar prices, similar capacities and will give you a hitch opening in about the same location. Biggest difference is they are made by different brands and use different parts of the vehicle to mount the side brackets. Since the Draw Tite is totally welded and does not have any sections that are bolted together it would be what I would go with.

  • Can Dual Hitch Adapter Be Used with Weight Distribution System
Makers of weight distribution systems generally do not recommend using any sort of hitch adapter/extender with their systems. The reason is that such adapters/extenders like Malone # MPG544 and Curt # D-192 reduce your trailer hitch's tongue weight rating, and by a full 50-percent. The loss of hitch TW capacity derives from the change to the overall geometry of the set-up; the whole WD head and shank will be further from the hitch and this applies extra leverage on the hitch tube, reducing...
