Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Review of Draw-Tite Front Receiver Hitch - Concealed Cross Tube - 65023

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at our Draw-Tite Front-Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver. It's a custom fit, and it's gonna give you a two-inch opening for the front. Now, folks, this is a custom-fit application. Make sure you're checking our Fit Guide here at etrailer.com. Be sure you're getting the right parts the first time.

It looks like this one's gonna fit a lot of the GMC and Chevy Silverado, Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, those kinda things. But make sure you're checking the Fit Guide to be sure you're getting one that fits your specific vehicle. When it's installed, it looks something like this. And as we know, front-mount hitches are gonna provide an excellent attachment point for those front-mounted accessories. So, whether it's a winch, a spare tire carrier, snowplow, cargo carrier, stuff like that, this is gonna be a great option.

I like to put a ball mount in mine, and then push my trailer back into areas that are tighter. It's just a little bit easier than doing it backwards as well, so that's one thing to remember as well. Again, custom fit, it's gonna match right up to the frame of the vehicle. It's been computer-aided as far as the welding and everything. It's a nice, solid steel construction as far as all the welding and everything, and again, you get all the hardware, brackets, everything you need to attach this safely and correctly to your vehicle.

It's been tested tough for safety, and it meets all the criteria and exceeds industry standards as well. And again, it's a simple bolt-on, no welding, and it has a nice powder-coat finish over it as well. The line pull, if you're using it for a winch or something is 9,000 pounds, the vertical load limit is 500, while the gross trailer weight is gonna be 5,000-pounds capacity. The hitch pin hole here on the side that you would put the ball mount in and put the hitch pin or your accessory in the hitch pin is a 5/8-inch hole. It's kinda standard as far as that goes.

I recommend lockable hitch pins always, that way you can protect your investments that you have attached in there. As always, if you have questions about this product or anything else or you need assistance, reach out to us, we'd be more than happy to assist you. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

THE TOWBAR LOOKS GREAT, THE REAR HOLES DIDN'T LINE UP WITH THE FRAME SO I WILL JUST DRILL NEW HOLES IN FRAME.

TWO MODELS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE SILVERADO, I MUST HAVE ORDERED THE WRONG ONE.

IT WAS GOOD BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TO CUT FAIRING.

The correct receiver arrived quickly and well packed. It is made of high quality steel and nicely painted. However, the distance between the two front mounting slots was 0.5" too small, and, therefore, I had to rework the part on a milling machine to increase the length of one of the front mountng slots before I was able to mount.

Attached are some pics of the hitch installed & its planned use.

The receiver was very easy to install and fit like a glove. I have installed a 12000 # winch for when I go hunting. Thank You , Gwendolyn for your help you were great to work with.

by:

Very quick and painless purchase. Thank you.

Shipped on time. Fit good. Easy Install.
On
my half ton chevy it is kind of close to the ground , I had to get a 8" drop hitch and flip it over and mount the ball on that. That is not the receiver hitches fault.
It works great for moving stuff around my shop / property. front hitch makes "backing" trailers in to a tight spot simple.

Solid well built, relatively easy to install. I used a floor jack and everything lined up as advertised. The nuts on the long piece of metal are very helpful. Only negative is how low the hitch is, at least 4-6 inched lower than the rear factory hitch. I was unable to use it because my trailer's 5th wheel would not go down low enough to fold up after connecting the hitch. Will need to get an offset step hitch that hopefully has enough length to extend beyond the bumper so I can connect

by:

The Draw-Tite hitch receiver appears to be well made and true. Installation was not a problem, only took longer than time estimate due to several dull drill bits for drilling of the two holes. Hopefully will get to use it this weekend.

And as always a big thanks to the etrailer crew for their assistance in helping me complete this project.

by:

The hitch came and when we tried to math it up with the bolts as described in your listing it seems only the front two match up with the toe bolts, there is no rear holes that line up, cant drill into the metal frame either so this will not work as advertised

Thank you for your reply. It sounds like you have a flexed hitch receiver which is fixable. Here is a help article about it:

It probably took less than an hour to mount including drilling the two holes in the rear. I’m using it to mount my Home Plow. Works like a champ.

Received on time!!! Installed in less than one hour. Works great!!!

Fits perfectly on my Z71 with a 30 minute install with no helpers. I was worried about ground clearance but it fits snugly under the bumper trim and sits higher than the guard panels that are directly behind the hitch. The front mounted hitch option was suggested by 2 people when confronted with stowing a boat through a limited clearance gate in tight spaces.

by:

a friend mounted the hitch- great fit!

our
hatteras rod rack slides right in gracefully.

bought a lock/hitchpin an now we're ready to roll.

great product!

by:

Great product installed easy must say that you do need a 1/2 drill bit and a good drill for the chassis to be drilled out and it helps if you have car ramps and good drill let's not forget the safety glasses.installed in 15 minutes thanks again also the cheapest on the web...recommend to all

by:

WELL THE HITCH ARRIVED ON TIME , HAD NO TROUBLE INSTALLING IT , IT FIT WITHOUT HAVING TO DO EXTRA DRILLING. I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH YOUR PRODUCT.AND HOW I WAS TREATED BY YOUR STAFF. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOUR COMPANY AND PRODUCTS TO ALL.

by:

this item is a live saver for me. I have a pull behind trailer and I needed some way to haul my scooter, the front hitch was the perfect answer. The service at etrailer is exceptional. Very professional. I would highly recommend this company for their service and their products. 5 star all along the way.

This hitch looks as good as I thought it would, and in my opinion it was a good price. Haven't installed it yet but held it up on vehicle and it will be as easy to install as your add said. However it came in an etrailer box and out of the draw- tite box and the powder coating was chipped off in several places, not what I thought a new product should look like. I'll have to get me some paint and do some touch up before I install it.

by:

Only issue that i have is that the hitch was built slightly off center.. It's very close..

I received the wrong hitch because I thought I had a HD but didn't. They exchanged it quickly and cheerfully even though it was my fault. The installation was relatively easy with no special tools or hoist. One tip: For the two holes I had to drill in the frame, a small scissors jack between the drill and the ground made the job a piece of cake

by:
2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Received product very quickly and in good shape. Hitch was actually better than described. Very strong and well constructed. For an ole fat guy It did not take very long to install it on my 2004 Suburban by myself. Highly recommended!

by:
2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Installed in about 30 minutes. Would have been about 15 minutes but the holes for the hook bolts didn't originally line up but were just slightly off. Looked at modifying the holes and noticed the hitch frame was slight bent inward. hit it with a hammer to straighten metal and then fit perfect. Didn't have to make any other adjustments to vehicle or anything. Was perfect fit.

by:

Fast delivery, good instructions, it bolted right up with the whole installation taking less than an hour.
Thanks etrailer, each transaction with you guys has been great.

by:

Good product. I recommend it.
1. fits
like a glove.
2. clears (is below) valence. No modification needed.
3. make sure the holes drilled in frame are accurate.

  • Do Tow Hooks have to be Removed to Install Front Mount Trailer Hitch on 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
The factory tow hooks on your 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 will not have to be removed to install a front mount trailer hitch. The fasteners will have to come out but the tow hooks will remain and be secured along with the hitch. If your truck is a 1500HD then you can use hitch # 65028 that you have referenced. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If your truck is a 1500LD (light duty) then use # 65023. I have linked the instructions for this hitch as well.
