Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

etrailer.com Technical Support

by:

Great ItemGreat product. all the bolt holes lined up perfectly, truly a no drill install. Trimming the fascia was not nessesary on my 2005 2500HD 4x4. (I just wish I would have known that before hand..)

by:
2003 ChevroletSilverado

Went on easily. And I was able to keep the factory tow hooks on the vehicle. So far, so good.

Now I get to see how well it works backing my 25 ft boat up a twisting driveway...

by:

Product was delivered timely and installed easily, perfect fit, as advertised, no trimming was required on front fascia as it fit on top of the receiver

by:

Fit well.It took about an hour to install. You really don't have to remove to recovery hooks. Just the bottom and inside bolts. It looks great on my 2005 Chev HD and I didn't have to trim the fascia.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic

Delivery was fast and packaging was good. All the parts were included. I tried to put the hitch on myself but was unable to do it because access to the frame where the hitch bolts on was too tight. That was not the fault of the hitch as it fit correctly. I just didn't have the right tool to get into the narrow space. Ran it down to a local mechanic and he was able to finish mounting it for me in a few minutes. One other problem I ran into was that the mounts for the heavy duty grill guard on my pickup bolted into the same holes as the hitch so I had to take them off. I will need to figure out how to put the mounts back on because there is not enough room on the frame for both mounts.

Front hitch fit nice on 2006 GMC 2500HD.
Trimmed
~1\4" from lower valance.
Must drill out side mounting holes so the bolts can be installed. I used 5/8" drill bit.
Needed to chase the threads on the bolts. They seemed to want to cross thread before they were cleaned up.
Picture shows parts not needed on Trucks with the tow hooks.

by:

Easy installation on my 2007 GMC Sierra 3500 dually. I installed the hitch to transport e-bikes. Works great and solid.

by:
2002 ChevroletSilverado

The hitch installed easily on the front of my truck and has given me more versatility in using my truck. In the summer I carry 3 bikes on a hitch rack when I go camping. I also hook up a 12000 lb. winch when needed. Sometimes I use the front hitch when moving my boat. This is a very sturdy and reliable hitch. Etrailer customer service is excellent.

Exact fitment, easy to install. Did it in my driveway with basic tools in about an hour. Looks clean and didn't have to modify the lower fairing.

This is like the 6th hitch I have purchased from etrailer.com and I have never had an issue yet.

This front receiver is my mounting point for my snow sport plow and it will surely do the job. Very solid and robust. Now just need some winter.

A year later and still flawless. Pushed snow with ease. It has also held a bicycle rack and pushed a trailer around. It has been very good.

by:
2007 Ford Excursion

Just received the hitch receiver today (no pun intended). Very easy, precise, 4 bolt assembly into the existing frame. Took about an hour to install for a non-mechanic like me. I really appreciate the versatility that I now have to put different attachments on the front of my truck. Note the ball and step in the pictures. Being lifted 6 inches, even I, at 6 ft 4 in. can't access the motor without the step. I plan to put a carrier on the front and carry a small motorcycle or bicycles when we are on our annual Arizona Snowbird excursion. In appreciate well built, well thought out and executed items.

The hitch receiver has proven very versatile. I have a lightweight snowplow attached to it. It works well. I would suggest using lock-tight on the bolts as they have a tendency to loosen up with all the snowplow-induced vibration.

by:

Easy to install, good quality well built. If I had any suggestions the only one would be it could be one or one and half inches longer in the receiver tube. Over all I'm well pleased with product.

by:

Product was made in Mexico but seems to be well made. The shipping dept. should wrap cardboard around the attachment points as both of mine were thru the box when it arrived and needed some touch up painting. Seems like an easy fix to get the product to the customer without any damage. Fits great on my truck. Fairing didn’t need modified but is very slightly flexed up in the middle. Would buy from trailer again without a second thought. Quick shipping, and great figment.

2004 Chevy 2500HD

This front hitch was extremely easy to install on my 2004 Chevy 2500HD. I was working by myself and using a floor jack.
If I would have followed direction and finger tighten the bolts and not tighten before all the bolts were started it would have been done in 20 minutes.

I would highly recommend this product!

2003 ChevroletSilverado

This hitch is exactly what I wanted! Perfect fit, easy install (~1hr), no cutting, no drilling. I installed it on my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab 2500 HD. I will be using it to carry a bike rack with 4 bikes. Very solid piece of hardware. Some of the notes made me think I might have to remove my front tow hooks permanently, this is not the case. On my truck I just switched out the original bolts for the tow hooks with the bolts supplied with the hitch and reinstalled the tow hooks along with the new hitch all using the new bolts.

Great purchase experience! The website has great images and good access to installation documents. I felt very comfortable that my choice was correct (and it was). Shipping was very fast and it arrived in great condition. I will be coming back to etrailer. Great job!

by:

Owned this trailer hitch receiver for a year. Fit was perfect, just follow the directs to trim the plastic bumper wrap as instructed. I use it for a 12,000# winch attachment. I have experienced no flex or deflection.
Very satisfied with my purchase.

by:
2011 GMC Sierra

This product was installed on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD pickup. The install took me approximately 15-20 minutes using a floor jack and a battery operated impact driver. No modifications to the bumper fascia were needed, nor was it necessary to remove the factory tow hooks. Although it has not been tested, the build quality seems very well made and capable of performing my intended use, which is to mount a motorcycle carrier and dirtbike. The position of the receiver is rather low (approximately 11.5” from the floor on my stock truck with 265/75/16 BFG AT’s), which may make the approach on steep driveways/berms difficult with a motorcycle carrier mounted. A receiver hitch riser may alleviate this concern, however. Untested, I would opine that this tow hitch will more than meet its intended use for me and would strongly recommend this product for its build quality and ease of installation.

  • How Do I Know if I Have an HD-Model 2007 Chevy Silverado Z71?
One of the easiest tell-tale signs whether you have an HD model 2007 Chevy Silverado Z21 is if the wheels have an 8-lug nut pattern. If it does have that pattern, then your vehicle is an HD model. If it does not have an 8-lug nut pattern, then it is not an HD model Z21.

Unfortunately, the frame with isn't the only consideration. According to Draw-Tite, the differences in the way the front bumper, fascia and grill are situated in regard to the front of the frame members on a 2007 Classic versus a 2007 New Body will prevent the # 65050 from being installed on a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic without extensive modification to the vehicle. • Difference Between 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 Curt and Draw-Tite Front Hitches
The only real difference between the Curt # 31108 and Draw-Tite # 65028 front hitches for your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 is that we've found the Curt hitches to traditionally have a little thicker of a powder coat which means they are a little better protected against the elements as well as scratches. Because of this I recommend the Curt over the Draw-Tite. Aside from that these hitches will install the exact same way and have the same weight capacities so it's just two different manufacturers...

The Draw-Tite front mount hitch # 65028 and the Curt Front Hitch # 31108 are very similar, but they are not the same hitch. This was not intentional, the manufacturers just so happened to come up with very similar designs for the hitch coincidentally. Since both hitches are so similar and have the same capacities I would not be able to recommend one over the other as both would work very well for you. I attached installation instructions for both product for you to check out.
