Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I put this on my 2017 F150 fits pretty good kind of a pain the butt to put on but works good to move my camper in and out of the driveway. The one I put on my 07 F150 was easier mounted on the bottom of the frame instead of the sides. 495676

This hitch fit perfectly, It came with all of the necessary hardware, including the fish wires required to pull the bolts through the frame rails. It is necessary to cut your front air dam for clearance. Service was faster than expected. 574570

Took about an hour by myself. Used an atv jack . Could have been faster if I had removed the tires. Taping the spacers didn't work well for me. 430533

This has worked well for plowing duties. Unfortunately, as installed, it slants downward so reduces clearance of the truck and tends to dig into the up dirt if you take it off road. I can still raise the snow plow high enough, so only a minor annoyance. 430606

Still working fine. Lease is up in April, and I will leave the hitch installed when I turn it in.

I have ordered from Etrailer before and been satisfied with the items, delivery time and packaging. The instructions for this hitch are adequate for handyman but the novice would struggle. For example: The metal bar w the square hole needs to go inside the frame so the bolt won't turn. That's not clear in the instructions. But harware is quality stuff and hitch is stout. 326968

2018 GMC Canyon

Installed easily, looks like it should do the job. Would give 5 stars to e-trailer but zero stars to the shipper as it looked like it had been tossed off into the grand canyon before it got to me. Slightly bent but was able to straighten it with the hydraulic expander. 559740

The front edge of the hitch sits three (3) inches back from front bumper so is almost not visible. Might be a problem if your trailer has a very short tongue. The Bottom of the hitch also sits about four (4) inches from the ground. Had hitch installed professionally paid minimum 1 hour charge. Total cost hitch plus installation less than $250. 370728

Hitch is exactly as described. I plan to use it to carry a cooler and rod rack for surf fishing. Installed by myself. I removed the lower air dam. Used a floor jack to lift into place. Took me 1 1/2 hours start to finish. 10 inches from bottom of 2" receiver hole to floor. Thanks etrailer 565395

I needed a front hitch to maneuver my trailer in some tight and narrow spots. The Draw Tight hitch more than met my expectations. The welds and the powder coating on this hitch were excellent. The instructions plain and simple to follow. I suggest you take care in making sure the hitch will be high enough on your vehicle. Due to the way they have to be mounted, they wind up being much lower than the hitch on the back. My installation wound up with the bottom of the hitch being 7-1/2 inches from the ground. (2017 F150 4X4) I suggest having another person to help with lifting and alignment. Five stars for the hitch as well as etrailer. 510944

2016 Ford F-150 Crew Cab 4 Wheel Drive - I tow a travel trailer, needed a slip on D & P mirrors for wider view on existing rear view mirrors. Longview mirrors for my vehicle attach easy & don't seem to vibrate. (Works well ). I selected a draw-tite 2" front trailer hitch for my vehicle - helps carry bicycles or other items and functions. The directions for installation were very good and I feel I could have installed it. A ramp & lift to hold the hitch in place to attach the hitch were very helpful. ( I didn't have them). My friendly local dealer installed it, for a very reasonable price & completed in 30 minutes. Shipping cardboard box was ripped & torn contents ok ! 243336

2018 Ford F-150

I received my Drawtite receiver on Friday and I was impressed with the quick shipping and sturdy boxing. However there is a scrape about 2” long on the top edge down into the metal on the exposed part that protrudes through the air dam on the front of my 2018 F-150. There was no damage to the box and nothing would have done that damage during shipping. I touched it up with a black Sharpie, but that’s not going to stop it from rusting. It is a truck, so though it’s disappointing, it’s not that big of a deal. The instructions were mostly clear, but I do have a couple of additions that may make it easier for future installations for my type of truck and installation method. I installed it on my garage floor with all the tools listed in the instructions. I trimmed the air dam as instructed and used a floor jack to elevate the receiver up into position, but due to the receiver’s shape it would tip back and the square tube portion would tip up into the top of the air dam slot and not allow me to line up the forward bolt holes. I ended up completely removing the air dam and this allowed me to get the clearance to lift it high enough to install the forward bolts (reinstalled the air dam after the receiver was torqued to specs). Removing the air dam also allowed me more room for my head and arms to fit under the truck, making installation easier. There was not enough space to install one each of the spacer washers on the front holes, but if the washers were half as thick, there would of been space to install one on each side (maybe include 8 washers instead of 4 and make them thinner). I could of used an included washer on one side but then the receiver would not have been centered in the air dam opening. Also in the instructions the only access hole mentioned & diagramed is the one near the rear bolt hole in the frame, but on the F-150 there is a access hole about 3” in front of the forward bolt hole (much easier to use than the rear access hole). The rear bolt hole spacers that are taped in place are too thick and would not stay taped to the frame as the receiver was lifted up into position (pivoting on the loosely installed front bolts), so I had remove the tape and use a heavy duty screwdriver to pry the receiver away from the frame and position the spacer in place with another screwdriver at the same time to line up the holes. The whole job took me about 3 hours and I know that having the truck on a lift would have cut that time down considerably, but having the instructions include what I mentioned above would have saved some more time too. I’ve included some photos from my project. Have a good day, 594154

Took a little longer than the 40 min the instructions said it would. But, I took my time, and I’m pleased. Install wasn’t difficult, trimming the valance not bad either. I took the valance off first, installed the hitch then trimmed the valance and reinstalled. Going to use the hitch for a front fishing cooler rack. 605046

This Draw-Tite front hitch is a solid hitch! Well made, and well coated! The installation instructions were clear, although I recommend reading through them a couple times BEFORE starting the install. (That really helped.) Also, I've installed several hitches on the rear of vehicles before, so I knew what to expect. But don't try installing this hitch without an extra set of hands! There is some effort required to hoist it into position, get the guide wires through the correct holes, and pull it into position. They estimated 30 minutes, I took my time and it probably took closer to 45-60 minutes. That includes cutting a slot in my lower air dam to allow the hitch to poke through. I'm looking forward (no pun intended) to pushing snow from the front of my F150 instead of the rear as in past years! Finally, and as always - etrailer has been awesome to work with! They deliver their products super fast, they follow up to ensure everything arrived as intended, offer support all through the installation, and they really want to ensure you are happy! I've been using etrailer for several years now and I recommend them to all my friends! 594249

The front trailer receiver seems to be well made. However I elected not to install it because it would have limited ground clearance on my 2018 Ford 150 with standard wheels and tires. I had hoped to use a wench installed on the front receiver but will use the already installed rear receiver instead. I did not return the front receiver because it would have cost too much taking into account the weight and difficulty repackaging. 593146

Do you have a question about this Front Hitch?

  • Which Front Hitch for 2016 Ford F-150 Sits Lower to Ground Curt or Draw Tite
  • The Draw Tite part # 65067 will sit lower to the ground than the Curt hitch part # C31083 which is also a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150. The Draw Tite requires you to notch a couple inches out of the bottom of the air dam up front, but the Curt requires you to cut a hole a bit higher for the hitch to fit through. In the picture I attached the Draw Tite is on the left and the Curt on the right.

Each of these hitches are confirmed fits for your 2016 Ford F-150, and each has a 2 inch receiver capable of being used with a snowplow, winch, or other accessory. I've also added a photo showing what the Curt receiver looks like on a Ford truck.

  • Is Ground Clearance Lost When Draw Tite Front Hitch 65067 is Installed on 2016 Ford F-150
  • You actually don't really lose any ground clearance when you have the front hitch part # 65067 installed on your 2016 Ford F-150. The lower air dam on the front of the truck gets trimmed out to allow the hitch to fit at basically the same height as the dam itself. I attached a picture that I took from the install instructions to show this as well.
