Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Road Master Seven-Wire to Four-Wire Straight Cord Kit. Part number is RM-98164-7. Now this Road Master Straight Cord Kit is going to allow us to use the standard seven-pull connector in the back of our RV and convert it into a four-pull round signal for the front of our towed vehicle. This is going to give us ground, running lights, left turn and break signal, and right turn and break signal. Now, the overall length is six and a half feet. So, if that matches your need, this might be the perfect solution.

Now to connect from our motorhome here to our towed vehicle, you can see we've got our four-pull wire here. If you're tow-barring, the thing about the straight style cord is if your tow bar head's keepers will be able to slide that through.I also sometimes prefer these to the coil types because you don't have to worry about them bounding around so much. You can zip-tie these right off to your tow bar and keep it nice and neat rather than the coils bouncing. We're going to pull that little set screw out .. and slide that out.

Now our wiring will come through the backside just like that. Black plastic ring is going to go around, then we can make our connections on the backside of our plug. So, we'll start with the top one. It'll be on the right side looking at the front. That gets our right turn signal.

The top left gets the left turn signal. The bottom right gets our brown wire, which is our tail light signal. Then, our ground will be the last one. Now, we'll reassemble our plug. We'll slide our cover back over. Slide this back up inaudible 00:01:59.

Realign the nut with the hole and replace the little set screw. Now, we're ready to plug right into the front of the vehicle in the socket we previously installed. Now, you'll plug your seven-pull in right through the back of your RV. That's going to complete our look at the Road Master Seven-Wire to Four-Wire Straight Cord Kit, part number RM-98164-7.

See what our Experts say about this Roadmaster Flat Tow Wiring Harness

  • Wiring Extension for Use with a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar
For your Sterling tow bar I recommend Roadmaster extension # RM-98164-7. It is a straight cable with the 4-Way unattached so you can route the wire through the guides on the Sterling tow bar. With an extension like # RM-164-7 you would need to wrap it around the tow bar arm instead of using the guide channels on the Sterling tow bar.

  • 7-Wire to 4-Wire Umbilical for Flat Towing With Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar
We've got just the thing. If you prefer a coiled 7 wire to 4 wire cord, use # RM-164-7 or # RM-98164-7 for the straight cable. If you have the # RM-522 Falcon All Terrain tow bar, the # RM-98164-7 straight cable is designed to fit into the cable guides on the tow bar.

  • Wire Functions for 7-Wire to 4-Wire Kit RM-98164-7 with Black, Red, Yellow, and White Wires
Roadmaster has switched wire colors on 7-Wire to 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit Item # RM-98164-7 and now uses green, brown, yellow, and white. But in either case white is the ground, red is likely left turn/brake, yellow for right turn/brake, and black for running lights. But there is an easy way to figure this out. Check the other end of that blue cable where it goes into the 4-Way round connector. Looking at the back of that 4-Way round where the wires connect top right is right turn/brake,...

  • How Long is the RoadMaster 7-Wire to 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98164-7
I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster who told me that the 7-Wire to 4-Wire straight cord kit, # RM-98164-7, is 6-1/2 feet or 78 inches long. If you need even more length I recommend the Flexo-Coil kit, # RM-164-7 which is 8 feet or 96 inches long when stretched out.

  • Umbilical Recommendation and Install for Use with Roadmaster Bulb and Socket Kit
To use the part # RM-98164-7 as an umbilical with the part # RM-155 you would need to cut the 4-way off the jumper wire of the # RM-155 and then wire it to the 4-way round female socket that comes with the part # RM-98164-7 that you referenced just like you said. You may not have to use the jumper cable of the # RM-155 either if the main harness can reach the front of the vehicle after the bulbs are installed.

  • Recommended Flat Towing Set-up For 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport
For your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport, since you already have your Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar, # RM-501, we will start with your base plate needs. The # 1175-1 Roadmaster base plates you have are not compatible with your Jeep, so I recommend going with the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, # RM-521448-4, which is compatible with your Jeep and your current tow bar. For your Jeep tow wiring, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # HM56200....

  • Option for Connecting Magnetic Tow Lights with 4-Way Round to 4-Way Flat
Since there's only one type of adapter that would work for your situation and it's probably not totally ideal it's most likely your best option to replace the 4-way round of the light kit with a 4-way flat like with the part # HM38134. The only adapter option is something like the # RM-98164-7 which is longer than you'd need and probably more money that you'd want to spend. Using the # HM38134 to replace the 4-way round will be the easiest and best option. The 4-way round connector is...

  • 7-Wire to 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98164-7 Recommendation for Towing a 2007 Jeep Liberty
Yes, this RoadMaster 7-Wire to 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit, part # RM-98164-7, would be long enough to be used to go from the back of your tow vehicle along your tow bar to the front of your 2007 Jeep Liberty. If you wanted to use a flat 4-way instead of the 4 way round you could easily do that by installing a Tow Ready 4-way, part # 18002, onto the end of the # RM-98164-7 and then installing a 4-Pole Trailer End Connector, part # 18004, onto the tow bar wiring that is on your 2007 Jeep Liberty. • Replacement Wiring Connector from Motorhome to Jeep for the Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar
We do have a variety of wiring kits from Roadmaster that are used for flat towing with your Falcon All Terrain # RM-522. I am not quite sure which one you have but I will list the ones out that can be run through your tow bar. For blue wires we have the 7-Wire to 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98164-7 and the 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98164. If you have a larger connector on on your Jeep then we also have the 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98146-7 and the 6-Wire Straight Cord...

  • Connecting 7-Way on RV to 4-Way Round on Towed Vehicle with Even Brake System Installed
The Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 wires directly to the battery in your towed vehicle for power. If you have an adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-98164-7 that goes from the 7-Way on your RV to the 4-Way round on your vehicle you're good to go. The brown wire you mentioned is for the running lights. Roadmaster does just recommend that you start the towed vehicle after towing for more than 6 hours and let it idle for 15-20 minutes to keep the battery...
