Wire your vehicle and get the signal lights required for flat towing without having to splice into your wiring with this custom, plug-in harness. Integrated diodes prevent feedback from RV for safe operation.
Features:
Wiring your car for flat towing has never been easier. No more testing wires or splicing into your electrical system. No need to painstakingly position multiple diodes beneath your vehicle. No worries about voiding your warranty. With this custom-fit towed vehicle wiring kit from Hopkins, all you have to do is plug the harness into your vehicle's existing wiring, which is located behind your car's tail light assemblies. No cutting, tapping, or splicing is required.
After plugging in the wiring harness, use the included bracket to mount the 4-way flat connector at the front of your towed car. An extension loop (sold separately) is required to connect your towed car to your RV.
Because your vehicle has a combined lighting system - wherein the brake signals and the turn signals are carried on a single wire - a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Hopkins Custom Taillight Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles. Now as I mentioned, this is a custom fit item that is designed specifically to fit your 2014 and newer Jeep Grand Cherokee. Then your 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Old Body, then your 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL New Body. On custom fit items such as this wiring harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com.
Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So this wiring kit is going to let you wire your Grand Cherokee to accept your RV's tail, brake and turn signal lights for flat towing. This gives you a four-way flat plug at the front of your Cherokee to connect to your motor home. And this, as you can see, does have a cap here to protect those ends when this is not in use. So you're not gonna have to worry about this four way flat getting dirty or getting corroded or anything like that.
And what's nice about this kit is this is going to plug in quickly and easily. There's not gonna be any cutting or splicing of wires and the connection points are located behind your vehicle's taillights. So this kit prevents electrical feedback to safeguard your towed vehicles electrical system. And this weatherproof box keeps the built-in diodes protected. And this is not going to interfere with the electrical system when your towed vehicle is not hooked up to your RV.
So this includes everything that you see here on the table before me. Of course, you're going to receive this wiring harness. And another nice feature is this does come with a mounting bracket and this is going to be very easy to install on the front of your vehicle. Just making sure I can fit that into that bracket, just like that. And so that's going to keep that secure at the front of your vehicle so that mounting bracket is included along with the mounting hardware.
I do wanna point out that the extension loop for connecting your towed vehicle to your RV is sold separately. And because your vehicle has a combined lighting system wherein the brake signals and the turn signals are carried on a single wire, a brake light relay may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing set up. Now, a supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off, as is the case when towing, then you do need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always acts in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns creating a potential hazard. So on your screen, I am including our item number for that brake light relay kit. You can just take that item number and put it in the search field of our website and that will take you to that kit. Well, that's going to wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
