I want to thank Jessica and Adam for there professional and mental health service for me, after they figured out what i needed it was ordered and shipped without a problem. I had a licensed auto shop install the bracket for the tow bar and if fit perfect and i was only charged 240 dollars for labor and 30 dollars for bolts. This is a superior system very easy to take on and off and very well made in the USA.

Working perfect thank you

I use these towing lights on my bike rack and they function as expected. I would give five starts but the wiring is the simple 4-wire (not in a loom) and they do not provide separate turn (amber) and stop (red) functionality to match the vehicle. For the price though, they are a solid set and will do the job.

I find the magnets to be quite strong; indeed, I actually mount these lights upside down to maximize visibility of the lights on the bike rack. I attach ‘releasable’ cable ties to the lights to be on the safe side. When I fold the rack up (no bikes) and down (hauling bikes), I simply release the ties slightly and move the lights so they are facing the rear and retighten the ties.

To customize these lights for my bike rack application, I purchased some loom tubing ($5) from the local box store. I considered cutting the wires and soldering them to length (which is an option), but elected to neatly fold the wires in the loom tubing back and forth and add a coat of quality electrical tape on the outside of the full loom. At each wire fold, I taped the wires and found there to be sufficient room in the loom everywhere (i.e., wires were not overstuffed), which ensures adequate heat release. Overall, this approach preserves the full functionality of the tow lights in case I trade the bike rack for a boat, which will never happen, while also providing for a clean look for my application. Of course, you could simply cable tie the extra wire, but I prefer the extra five dollars for the clean look (and added protection of the wires).

Don’t obscure your tail lights with your rack! These lights will do the trick.

Lights function as they should. The only reason for losing a star is the magnets are a bit weak for the thinner body panels on modern cars. Very strong attachment on a steel dolly, but that’s not what I bought them for. Hopefully they hold up to bumpy roads so they don’t go through one of my windows, or worse someone else’s.

by:

Product materials are of good quality. LED lights are bright, magnets are strong, wiring is sturdy but flexible. For long trips, as a safety precaution, I probably will utilize reusable zip ties to secure the lights.

by:

Had to replace my older towing lights and these really fit my requirements. With the Led lights not only are they brighter but vibration is not a problem. Also these have lights to both the rear and front. Would tell others I meet during our travels that "etrailer" is a great place to get items for their RV and tow.

Just like they worked when brand new!! Great product. Only improvement might be stronger magnets.

by:

Haven't installed it yet but looks very good. It is going to work good for me because I don't want to tap into the new car's wiring. I have a slight concern about durability but only time will tell. I would recommend this kit to others.

The lights work great. The magnets dont always hold the lights in place so I have moved them to the inside shelf behind the back seat. I used Velcro to attach them.

by:

Good setup. Everything worked as described. Would recommend this product.

2020 Ford Escape

I've only tested to insure it works after installing a Curt wiring harness. Have not used for the primary application of auxiliary lights while having a cargo carrier on the hitch of my towed vehicle. Magnets seem sufficient and did not scratch the paint of the vehicle while placing or removing.

Saves tons of money compared to internal through wiring.

Jeep Liberty

We needed a fast solution for towing a Jeep Liberty behind a class C RV. This kit worked well for us. The only drawback was not the product but the vehicle. The lights had magnetic bases and the Liberty has a mostly plastic body or contours where the lights would be best placed. We used a small C channel laced through the roof rack end pieces and then secured the lights to the bar with machine screws making a removable light bar. Threading the wires through the rack, down the passenger side of the windshield and through the engine compartment and out the grille, it made it easy to connect to the RV wiring and travel safely.

2014 Ford Van

Overall unit is good with LED lights a plus as nothing has to be done to the existing tow vehicle wiring/fuse due to their minimal current draw. Problem I had was magnet was not the strongest finding one light usually turned askew or actually hanging by wire a couple times. I got a extra crossbar for my roof rack and have fabricated light mounts to that eliminating the magnets altogether.

2002 Chevrolet Tracker

Received lights right when tracking said they would arrive. Product is as advertised and the lights work. Now to install and use.
Great service( even got a phone call checking on things).
Very pleased.

Now, one year later, the tow Bar wiring is performing well. Ive much praise for etrailer.

by:

Purchased for my towed Jeep from my Fleetwood MH, the wires at the 4 prong flat failed after using for approx 1000 miles. Had wrapped wires with electrical tape to try to protect them. Spliced a new 4 prong male and that lasted about another 1000 miles. The wire is so fine, that it is almost impossible to repair or work with. The LED lights work fine, wire is just not durable.

by:

Products were received on time, packaged well and correct for application after assistance. Will purchase future needs again and recommend to others.
However, products did not fully meet the need as advertised and as shown in video. So I did a call for technical support. This is where the company failed. The answerer was technically incompetent, did not listen, talked down to me and was very rude. She finally hung up on me! A second call still did not resolve the problem but did refer it to the technical support people. I am still waiting for an answer.

You will need part # C89VV. This will allow you to adapt the 3 wire system from your tow vehicle to the 2 wire system that your trailer uses.

by:

I took this kit out of the box and set the magnetic
lights on top of the car. I then took them off to see
how strong the magnets were. They came off way
to easy. I'm Afraid they would come off just driving
down the Hwy without being in any wind. Cross wind, head wind or any wind at all.
I'm going to cut the lights off and use the harness
and add light sockets in my tail lights.

by:

Bought these to pair with a hitch mounted bike rack. Well designed and works as expected. Very bright LED lights. 4-pin connector plug setup makes for plug and play right out of the box. Lights have powerful magnets in the base which stick to the metal bike rack without issue. Used velcro cable straps to take up the slack and tidy up the installation. No permanent installation needed, as I can take them quickly off the bike rack if not needed.

by:

My entire experience dealing with etrailer was great. Couldn't ask for a more helpful or informed associate helping me find the right product. The trailer lights are perfect for what I needed and helped me avoid having to trace wiring issues in the trailer itself. If I were to change anything regarding the product I would use slightly heavier gauge wiring. I did have an issue (at no fault of the product) where I had to repair the wiring and it is quite fragile. I still give the product an "A."

Great product plenty of wire and strong magnets, keep it in my toolbox all the time !!!

Still performing as advertised. Thanks for the consumer support.

by:

The one change I made was to place suction cups along the top of the car then clipped the wires into the holders to keep the wire stable when on the road. Other than that the lights work like they are suppose to.

by:

Unacceptable product. The magnets were not strong enough to hold the lights in place even if mounted to a horizontal surface let alone a vertical mounting which is what I needed. Delivery and packaging was good.

by:
2011 Chevrolet Silverado

The site was easy to navigate and the lights showed up on time. It's a good product with serious magnets. The lights are what I expected from LEDs and are very bright. Highly recommend them for whatever you plan to tow if you can't get the existing lights to work or as a temp solution to maintain a safe driving environment for yourself and the others sharing the road.

by:

Purchased this 7x4 adapter and light kit to use on our platform type ebike carrier. Happy with both products, will serve our needs and keep us "legal" during our summer travels.

by:

One of the lights stopped working. I contacted etrailer about the problem. They addressed the issue and had me going in short order. Good company that stands behind what it sells.

by:
2015 Jeep Wrangler

Received early and just as described. They easily and strongly mounted to my Jeep's rear off-road bumper with the base magnets and the wiring easily wrapped around the body to the front of the vehicle and RV connection. Perfect.

Hey Scotty, thanks for reaching out! Here are the parts I recommend for flat towing your 2006 Chevy HHR safely and with a price-conscious mind: - Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 3141-1 (requires minor fascia trimming - see attached install video) - etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e64ZR - Flint Hill Goods Magnetic Tow Lights # FHG96ZR - Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # HM39494 - High-Low Adapter (see attached article - bar height is 15.5") There...

  • Is There a Tail Light Kit for the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but there aren't any tail light kits designed specifically for the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack part # HLY84FR. My best recommendation would be to try and use a set of magnetic mounted tow lights like the Flint Hill Goods Magnetic Tow Lights part # FHG96ZR. These would ideally be secured to the base of the rack and would then plug into the trailer connector plug on the vehicle to transfer lighting signals when needed. In regards to the license plate,...

  • How To Use Separate Magnetic Tow Lights on Tow Dolly with Brakes
It sounds like you're trying to use two separate trailer connectors together, one for the tow lights like the Flint Hill Goods Magnetic Tow Lights part # FHG96ZR and one for the tow dolly. We don't carry this exact tow dolly so I can't be sure but it sounds like it has electric brakes but no lights and uses a 7-way. The tow dolly lights will then use a 4-way. In order to have both you'd need to combine the two, the tow dolly and tow lights into one trailer connector, a 7-way. I recommend...

  • Solution for Lights on 2023 Honda Civic on Tow Dolly
Hi Byron; to use the lights on your 2023 Civic you would need flat tow wiring. Unfortunately, nobody makes it for the Civic so that won't be an option. The # C43VV you looked at is designed to power the lights on a trailer if you were towing something with your car so that won't work either. If your tow dolly has lights on it like the Demco Kar Kaddy SS # DM9713045 you won't need additional lights. If not, you can use universal magnetic lights like the Flint Hill Goods Magnetic Tow Lights...

  • How To Fix Wires That Have Pulled Out of Wire Nuts on Magnetic Tow Lights
I'm not exactly sure what type of tow lights you have but from what I can see, they are using wire nuts to join the lights to the harness. These aren't really meant for automotive applications so if I were you, I would replace them with butt connectors like the part # DW05744-5. That said, the wire nuts can be reused if you hold the wires, grab the nut, and twist counter clockwise until removed. Then, twist all the wire strands back together, hold the wires, reinsert the wire nut over the...
