Today we're going to take a quick look at the DEMPCO trailer connector adapter. This is going to be a four way cord that's going to be seven feet long and this is going to provide that electrical connection between our towed vehicle and our towing vehicle. It's going to mirror all the functions from our towed towing vehicle into our towed vehicle. If you're hauling a, let's say a vehicle behind your RV, this is going to give you that connection so you can get all of those wires, connect it up, have all your lighting functions, and that way everybody can know what's going on out in the road and you can stay compliant with any local and federal laws.Basically it'll mirror our running light function, taillight function, turn signal function, and we'll also have our ground connection. We'll get the cord and the two plugs, one to go on your RV and your car or maybe on your truck and your popup camper, however you're going to utilize this. We'll have our four male ends on the inside of each plug to match up with the female end of our cord on either side. Now this doesn't come with any hardware since it'll pretty much depend on what you're mounting this to to determine what you'll need. If that's a self tapping screw, nut and a bolt, pretty much depends on how you want to mount this up.
As far as our dimensions on the plug overall, it'll be about two and a quarter inches wide. The distance between the mounting holes is about one and three quarter inches apartFrom top to bottom it's about two and an eighth inches tall and it's going to sit back overall about two inches. There's a little rubber boot on the backside of this to help keep out any water and debris, but I would suggest back filling this once you have all your electrical connections made with maybe some dielectric grease to seal up that inside and it wouldn't be a bad idea to put some on those terminals and on the end of your plug.If you don't already have dielectric grease, you can pick some up here at etrailer.com. It's just a substance that keeps out any water, or dirt and debris, helps to improve the longevity of your plug and your wiring. The plugs themselves are going to have a silicone injected plug on the back, so that's going to be pretty well sealed up as far as our cables, and then our wire is going to be vinyl coated. This does stretch out to that seven foot. The nice thing about the coil design is that that prevents it from dragging on the ground since whenever it's retracted, just coils up nice and neat, but then it can still stretch as we turn and move on the highway.Overall, this is going to be a really easy kit to put in place.
You will have to connect it into all those wiring functions on your towing vehicle and your towed vehicle, so that'll be your running lights, brake lights, turn signals and ground.Again, you will have to provide the hardware on your own to get that installed. That's going to do it for our look at the DEMPCO trailer connector adapter four way seven foot cord.
Works fine.
As always, years of experience in dealing with etrailer another satisfaction notch thanks.
Have had issues with this cable not saying clamped on the end and chafing on the wires doing down the road. Don't really see a way to fix that as the connections are sealed. Best bet would be to undo the connection and put some shrink on it.
Got what I ordered, was very happy
Doesn't fit
worked perfect
Great service
No issue with the harness
This connector works as intended. The only improvement that I would suggest is that the blue wire sleeve to connectors be more secure. The coil in the line is so strong that over time the wire sleeve has pulled out of the smaller connector. I now have to figure out how to stretch it so that I can slide it back in place and more securely tighten it. I'm afraid that the wires themselves my eventually pull loose from the connector.
Works exactly as intended
