Secure, 2-Piece, Serrated Jaw

Serrated Jaw of the Reese R20

The dual-jaw system on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch ensures full 360-degree contact around your trailer's king pin for a strong, reliable connection. Unlike traditional spring-loaded, dual-jaw systems, the R20 features serrated jaws for maximum security. The geared teeth ensure that every time you use this hitch, the jaws will close evenly to form a perfect circle around your trailer's king pin, providing a consistently tight connection. By surrounding the king pin entirely - with direct jaw-to-king-pin contact - the R20 allows far less movement in the hitch than other fifth-wheel hitches, resulting in minimal jarring and chucking.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Vibration Dampener of the Reese R20

The R20 offers several unique features that help to create a smooth, quiet fifth-wheel towing experience. Aside from the two-piece jaw that offers a firm and secure connection, stability is also increased by having a pivot beam with a wide front-to-back mounting configuration. The pivot beam also has a built-in, heavy-duty vibration-isolator system that dampens both vertical and longitudinal vibration, the result of which is less noise and a better ride.

Locking Handle and King Pin Indicator

The R20 features an easy-to-use locking handle with a built-in visual indicator to ensure proper hookup. When the trailer's king pin is in position within the jaws of the hitch, a green indicator button is visible on the back of the fifth-wheel head. This button can be easily seen from the cab of your truck.

Strength and Durability

The R20 was designed with strength and durability in mind. Sturdy steel and various hardened, cast components make up this fifth-wheel trailer hitch that, despite its weight rating, offers commercial-grade towing strength. Extensive testing demonstrated that the R20 is compliant with the criteria (SAE J2638) set forth by the Society of Automotive Engineers for fifth-wheel trailer hitch performance. In addition, this fifth-wheel trailer hitch passed 900,000 cycles in both fatigue and static testing, attesting to its durability.

To increase the lasting effectiveness of your hitch, Reese has included a custom-fit lube plate with the R20. This lube plate provides a smooth surface to help the king pin glide smoothly into the hitch during hookup. It also helps to prevent scratches on the R20's top plate. Grease pockets are integrated into the R20 fifth-wheel trailer hitch so that you can easily maintain the effectiveness of the lube plate.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6-foot beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel RP30870 Review

Today were going to review part number RP30870. This is the Reese R20 fifth wheel trailer hitch with the round tube slider, and it has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. This fifth wheel hitch with the slider will mount in your truck bed so you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. It has the cast dual jaws right here, as you can see, which will provide more jaw to kingpin contact than your traditional dual jaw hitches. The geared teeth right down here will ensure even, secure closure for a full 360 degree contact. The secure connection will mean minimal jawing and chucking.

The head has a nine inch wide two prong European style funnel which makes it simple to guide the kingpin into the hitch, which will make it work great even if the trailer and the tow vehicle are not in a straight line. It has the four-way pivoting head which will ease hookup even on unleveled ground. It has a five degree side to side pivot and a front to back pivot. It will have a smooth, quiet ride which is created by this cast pivot beam, which holds the hitch head to the cross member. It uses heavy duty vibration dampeners, which Ill show you, that will help minimize rattle and noise even on rough terrain.

If I spin this one to the side youll be able to see right here, theres this yellow. Its a hard yellow rubber. Theres one on this side and one over here. If I rotate it completely around youll see on the back theres one here and theres one on the other side right here. You have one here, one here on the inside, one over here and one over here.

Those vibration dampeners will help minimize the rattle and the noise. If youll notice on the back here, the pivot bolt that goes through has a large castle nut on this end with a pin and clip in it. Basically over time as that will wear and loosen up you can remove the pin and clip, tighten down that castle nut to take up some of the play. This is the pop-up indicator on the head here. When the kingpin slides in it will push on this indicator right here which will pop out, and then when youre in the cab of your vehicle you can look out the rear window and see this green.

If its popped out that means the kingpin is securely attached on the hitch head. I just want to rotate it this way Ill show you the operation of the handles here. Basically on the hitch head right here, if youll notice its color coded on the handle. Right now with it in the down position it will be green pointing down which means its locked. It means the dual jaw is securely around the kingpin. If you push it up the red is pointing up. That will unlock it and that will allow you to pull open the dual jaws. Once it locks around the kingpin you can just push it down, which is pointing down green, means its locked. Right here you can run a pin through, a pin and clip, or you can run a padlock through, which is sold separately for additional security. Basically on the slider hitch portion, to move the slider on the round tube, right now, the pin indicator says its unlock position, which will allow the slider to move forward and backward 11 inches. If you move this that way, that is the locked maneuvering position. Basically what that does is it will allow you this slider hitch to move fully to the back of your truck bed and it will lock into the rollers, or the round tubes, and that will keep it from moving forward or backward, but with it fully to the back of your truck bed toward the tailgate, that will allow you the maneuvering position so it doesnt hit the cab of your truck. Then when youre ready to move from your camping position, if you go the other way, full towing position locked, what that will do is it will slide with the fifth wheel, all the way forward closer to the truck cab, and that will allow you to lock in position and youll be able to tow on the highway in the towing position. Basically the red part, the pin up and down is unlocked. This way is the locked maneuvering position. That way is the locked towing position. This hitch is made of sturdy powder coated steel, which is corrosion resistant. I am demonstrating this hitch on the rails and the installation kit, but the base rails and the installation kit will be sold separately. You would have to order them for your specific application. This hitch will work with the industry standard above bed rails made by Curt, Draw Tite, Hidden Hitch, Pro Series, Reese and Valley. You can simplify your installation with a vehicle-specific bracket kit. The gross towing weight capacity on this hitch is 20,000 pounds. The vertical load limit is 5,000 pounds. As I mentioned, the travel on the slider is 11 inches front to back. I do want to show you some adjustments you can make. If you look on the side here, on this cross member there is four sets of holes that go up and down. You can do a hitch height adjustment above your trailer bed, or your truck bed. Basically if you put the bolt, when you install these slider legs, if the bolts are in the very top holes that would give you 14 inches above the truck bed. If the bolts are in the very bottom holes that would give you 18 inches above the trailer or truck bed. You can also, when this is bolted to the legs, the legs have elongated holes so you can actually move this cross member one inch front or rear to help improve the cab clearance. One nice other little feature is if youll notice on this hitch head, it does come with an included plastic lube plate. The nice thing about that is it will help when your kingpin slides in, the fifth wheel trailer hitch will slide easily on this lube plate and it will help prevent from scratching the head on the hitch. Also, if youll notice these pockets right here on the plate are for grease to be put into. That will help lubricate the connection between the fifth wheel and the hitch head. That should do it for review on part number RP30870.

I can't review this product as excellent yet since I haven't towed with it. But, product arrived when expected and despite the box being torn up, everything was there and in good condition. I might add that the unit is shipped in two boxes and the box with the head unit in it was the one that was torn up. It was shipped out exactly as Reese boxed it. On the other hand, etrailer box up the slider unit in another box and it arrived in perfect condition. Installation was fairly simple with some minor problems. One of the bolt on legs on the slider unit was on a slight angle and I had to hammer it to a more straight alignment to get it to go into my rails. Also, the pins to attach the slide unit to the rails were in the box with the head. I spent about 10 minutes going through everything to find my "missing parts". Finally, it is stated in the instructions, but took me a minute to find this--you cannot install this head on this slider unit in the lowest bolt position. I also measured the distance from my truck bed and at the 2nd lowest position (the lowest I can get with this combo unit) it sits 18" above my truck bed. The literature states the head can adjust from 14" to 18" above the truck bed. In my case, it would be 18" at the lowest and 20" at the highest. Until I hook up my rig, I won't know how this will affect the trailer level. My old hitch head was about 16.5" above the bed, so this is an increase of 1.5 inches and I have no way to make it any lower. The quality of this unit is impressive right from the unboxing. Instructions are fairly well laid out and easy to understand, but you need to make sure you read everything closely. My only gripe was that they had pictures of all the parts to help you identify them, but for some reason they had no picture of the "roller pin" that attaches the two pieces of the slide handle together or clear instructions on how to insert it. But, I eventually figured it out. From unboxing to fully installed was about 1 hour. I was able to do the entire install by myself except for lifting the head unit onto the slider. I could have done it, but it wouldn't have been smart, considering it weighs 130 pounds. Alternately, you could remove the actual head from the pivot and install them separately, so it could be done with one person. I can't wait to try out the hitch with my trailer, but considering all of the frustrations I have been having with my old Husky unit, this should feel like the Cadillac of hitches to me. One final note. I spoke with the reps at etrailer two different times. Both of the people I talked to were extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with, especially Vince, who also had great follow up with me. I would definitely do business with them in the future. 175124

First I should say I LOVE etrailer.com and the customer service. I originally purchased a Curt Q20 from them. I have or will write a review of that hitch under that item soon. The Curt would not articulate forward and backwards and I was unable to hookup my 30ft Fifth wheel as it the RV is in an enclosure and there was a very slight incline and the hitch wouldn't line up. After contacting Etrailer.com with the problem and doing more research on other hitches I settled on this hitch. Bill at etrailer gave this hitch a great review and recommendation. he first attempted to help me with the Curt hitch and when I decided it wouldn't work he helped me with return shipping and shipping out the new one. I just finished installing the Reese I hooked up with NO problems on the first try! I'd spent over an hour and half trying to get the Curt to hookup! so to say I'm pleased would be an understatement. Now, this is a more expensive hitch but the peace of mind going some place and being able to hook and unhook on uneven ground is worth it! the only problem I encountered was one of the supplied lock nuts was not machined correctly so i'll purchase one here. this hitch is easy to mount in the rails unlike the Curt. but mostly I'm so impressed with the customer service. everyone I spoke with but especially Bill...........returned my calls, answered my questions and made sure I was completely satisfied! if I encounter any problems with the hitch i'll post after my first pull in a few weeks. 261215

I really appreciated the very informative videos etrailer provided for the install on my 2015 Silverado 2500. I was able to focus my efforts on the high degree of manual dexterity required to mount the rails to my truck without the assistance of a lift. It was a very rewarding experience and I was shocked to learn the positions I could get my aging body into under that truck. Couple of Tips from me to the next guy: 1) Use electrical tape on lead wire coil and bolt. Too nerve racking pulling on that wire and hoping it wasn't going to yank free of the bolt. 2) When you go to install the washer, lockwasher, nut combination, put a piece of duct tape over the hole in the top of the frame. When (not if) you drop the nut it will bounce off the tape rather than making the nothing but net swishing sound on it's way into your truck frame. Really solid hitch. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. 214651

The package arrived and was left on my door step without being able to inspect the package. It was found in terrible condition. It looked like it had been dropped off at 55 mph. The condition of the card board was old and easily fell apart. The hitch fell out of the box when I moved it. It appeared that the box had set on your shelf for sometime. Lots of plastic tape applied all over the box. Luckily the contents were all there and there didn't seem to any damage to the hitch. The foam protection was in pieces when the box fell open. It seemed to be old, and it crumbled when I removed it from what was left of the box. The paper work in the box said this hitch was a 30867 addendum. I ordered a RP30870. I didn't order a 30867. Are they comparable, or the same? If not you owe me a RP 30870. The other packages were in very good shape (slider, installation package). 504807

Im sorry the box containing your hitch was in bad shape when it arrived, but Im glad the hitch doesnt seem to be damaged. The Reese Titan 20K capacity fifth wheel hitch actually has two part numbers. # RP30867
Reese Titan 20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Serrated Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs

is the non-sliding version, the # RP30870 is the sliding version. Other than that, they are the same hitch.

The hitch was delivered exactly on time. It came in two boxes of considerable weight. Assembled without complication and it took just a little over an hour to put it together. The instructions suggested to Insert the roll pin over a hard surface, I found it much easier following their suggestion. The end result is that I now have a great looking, durable 5th wheel hitch. I am very pleased with the entire process and I would be willing to do it again though I hope I never have to. These guys are highly recommended. 399490

Received the Titan hitch in 3 boxes,1 was good, other 2 were mangled with parts of hitch exposed. Opened and found minor gouges on hitch pad otherwise ok. Was disappointed to see hitch was made in China! Have some concerns about long-term quality! Put hitch together on floor, when I put the top pad on,I noticed a rubber bumper had fallen off. When I removed top pad one of the bumpers had broken off.Cheap Chinese 8-32 screw had broken in half! Replaced both bumpers with American cap screws. I havn't tried to tow with it yet.Etrailer was good, and will buy from them again.Would feel better if this was a USA hitch! 321012

Unit arrived as scheduled and the install was straight forward. This unit replaces a 10 year old Reese slider that was border line 16k and we decided it was time to upgrade to the 20k with the tubes slider. Look forward to trying out this summer. etrailer is great to work with and provides some of the best and informative tutorials on line. 502878

Unit has functioned adequately. Two problems with this unit. 1 - the green indicator did not have a spring installed when it arrived. I ordered a new indicator and on the seconday use with the new indicator the spring broke out. 2- the Greece nipple on the unit both fell out as if they were never threaded in. Pushed the nipple back in and have worked with them in this condition. I didn't notice the greas nipple issue until the second year when I first tried to grease the unit. 268032

Comments

Happy with the unit now that it is broke in, very hard to hook up and unhook when I first got the hitch. The green postion indicator was broken when I first got the hitch but the people at etrailer were vey good at getting me a new one in a couple of weeks, installed it and it broke the first time I hooked up, Ive just learned to hook up and not look at the green indicator tab. I also had trouble witht he greese nipples as one falls out all the time I think it was stripped from the factory but I have learned to live with it, as I didnt notice the nipples the first year.

This is a great hitch from a great company to order from. Mark M was very helpful from the moment he came on the phone to the follow-up messages to make sure we were getting the service expected. I would recommend them and the hitch (which has some nice safety features to make sure the hitch gets hitched) to anyone. 273130

Review from a similar Reese R20 in Fifth Wheel

I bought this hitch and the 50140-58 custom rail kit for my 2009 Dodge 2500 Quad with a short bed. I had read several reviews that stated how "quiet" the hitch is because of the rubber isolation dampeners at the pivot points. I had also read how easy it is to "hookup". Yes and yes! While the R16 would have been plenty sufficient for my needs, the R20 includes the lube plate (form fitted to the fifth wheel) that is a $50 item that you must purchase extra for the R16. And, by specification, the R20 gives you 25% more capacity...for about $75. While the entire assembly is pretty heavy, it is very easily disassembled into three manageable pieces by removing three linchpins. We just completed a 6000 mile journey and did have one "problem"; the vibration isolators for fore and aft motion of the head (the fifth wheel) on the cross member (the blue piece) were not holding up even though my trailer's weight was 13K with a 2.5K pin weight...the yellow rubber material seemed too soft. Etrailer jumped right on it, when I contacted them. They put me in touch with Reese, who next-dayed the "orange" replacements (part #58516) to me along my route, at no cost, of course. When things go perfectly you will always be happy with a company and their products, but what they do in a "crisis" is what makes the difference. Etrailer and Reese are #1 in this regard! 130978

Installed easily. I let my son-in-law do the lifting! Arrived fast and undamaged. Far superior to the 15K Pro series I had. It was junk after 2 and a half years. This makes NO noise when pulling my 38 foot 5th wheel. 208600

Comments

Its been a year now. I bought this hitch half way through a 8000 mile 105 night trip because my previous slide gate hitch failed. The Reese has never let me down. Were out at least a week every month. Should of bought this the first time around!

When the hitch arrived, it was loose inside the carton, not until later and after installation I noticed that one of the pegs that guides the in and out locking lever was slightly bent. It rubes on the lever and is still slightly difficult to operate in and out. The bent material seems to be cast iron so I did not attempt to straighten it. I am not sure if this is what makes it difficult to slide the lever in and out. Most of the time I have to jockey my truck forward and backward to obtain locking of the hitch pin. One other issue is with the Reese metal decals on the hitch body, within a month most of them were curling up and peeling off, not good advertising. If you can give me some helpful hints on how to fix the hitch I would appreciate it. Thank you 414513

I just finished mounting the Reese R20 in my 2011 GMC Duamax as seen in the attached photo. I found the instructions and drawings to be very good. The installation was straight forward. This hitch replaced an older (1990) hitch which did not have side to side articulation. I am looking forward to the additional flexibility when unhitching and hitching on uneven ground. Thanks for the reference page, particularly the installation video. It was a pleasure doing business with etrailer. 112010

Review from a similar Reese R20 in Fifth Wheel

I recently purchased a new to me GMC 2008 3500. It already had a 5th wheel hitch which made all kinds of noise and was a pain to hook up and unhook. My earlier truck had a Reese 18K Signature hitch which I did like so I figured I would go back with a Reese hitch. I ordered this hitch and as always it showed up in a few days from E trailer! It drop right in the rails in the bed. Very simple to use, no funny noises from the hitch. Connecting and I connecting could not be simpler. It's the best fifth wheel hitch I have ever used!! 262505

Review from a similar Reese R20 in Fifth Wheel

I upgraded my RV to a 42 foot with 4 slides. I also needed to upgrade my hitch so I decided to try the Reese Titan. I can tell you that this is the best 5th Wheel Hitch I have ever used and I have had several different brands. This hitch has eliminated the normal jerking and metal clanking that comes with other 5th wheel hitches. I have used it for a year now and would recommend to anyone that has a 5th wheel trailer to get one, you will never use a regular one again. I know I won't . 283574

Product was delivered on time. The boxes that the three (3) parts came in were hammered and one of the parts bags was subsequently opened - fortunately, the parts were kept in the box - UPS did a wonderful job of taping the box. It would seem that you all would put a bit more effort into designing a system that better handles these bulky/heavy pieces for shipment. Overall, easy to install (thanks to the video) - about 3-4 hours and I am ready to hook up my 5th wheel. 205946

This is a nice heavy duty hitch but a bit cumbersome when hitching and un hitching herd to get fully locked have to move vehicle back and forth then the handle will fully lock coming from an older Reese hitch which was a breeze to hitch surprised me. I also have issues with this hitch fitting my rail have to loosen the head mounting bolts to get it to fully go into the base rails then I tighten the bolts and leave the hitch in the truck for the camping season 277809

Once the trailer is locked in this hitch is GREAT , But I have found it difficult to fully lock the handle together without rocking the truck back and forth. It is also difficult to unlock the handle when its time to unhook the from the trailer, further more once the handle has unlocked and has been pulled out, the handle tends to slide back into the hitch thus not releasing the trailer. I have to have someone hold the handle out as I pull my truck forward. 266270

Great Product well built. fairly easy to install. The only problem I had is on a 93 Dodge W250 Cummins is on the Drivers side Frame rails where the back Bracket goes is a valve body for the back . so made a modification and put a few weld on the Bracket should work fine. The box the head unit came in was so bad you couldn't pick it up all the Styrofoam was all broken apart. Might want to rethink what u ship it in. 407697

I am looking at a 20K 30867. Will that fit the same bed rails as a 16K 30866 and are they interchangeable from one to the other?I cannot find any information of the distance between the bracket that goes into the rail.Thank you!Dennis J. Kraus South Dakota

Both the R16 and R20 fifth wheel hitches will fit the same rail set. For the most part, above-bed fifth wheel rails are the same. If you have a truck with a set of rails and currently have the R16 part # 30866, you can pull it out of the rails and drop the R20 30867 right in.

Review from a similar Reese R20 in Fifth Wheel

Ordered on Sunday, received on Wednesday, pulling a new fifth wheel toyhauler on Friday. Fantastic hitch at a great price, super fast shipping, etrailer is the best. As with anything that includes instructions, they could have been better. Pretty simple to figure out though. This hitch is top notch, made pulling a 16K pound trailer a breeze with our F350. 253407

The hitch was delivered very quickly in two boxes. The primary box was pretty torn up,but the hitch wasn't damaged. I assembled the hitch, and then had to retorque the legs to fit in the rails. I haven't hauled yet, but it looks good and appears to be a very solid hitch. The price was great and very easy to order on line. Great service so far. 333493

The Reese 5th wheel hitch installation was made easier with the help of the videos from etrailer. Thank you etrailer for all of your help! 491127

This hitch is heavy duty. Cast metal instead of stamped on most other hitches. Love that it came with a custom lube plate. Pulled with no noise or chucking like my older single straight barl hitch. I have a Sidewinder pin box and it works great with it even on my super short bed on a Ram Megacab. 277446

The customer service is the best. The products they sell are top quality. this new hitch's design is better than the older models. It just load a little different and requires that you do not use a Teflon plate on you trailer I would buy it again 442285

Quick Shipment. Very heavy as should be. 164 lbs. Easy to assemble. The 2 legs came in a separate box from the head. The video and printed versions were very clear. I feel confident to pull my 16,000 lb 5th wheel now. 341249

Thank you for the follow up. Glad you did.Everyone that sees the hitch in the bed loves the looks and the features. They all seem to have a sense of stability and safety come to mind.I feel the same. It pulls great. However..Hitching and unhitching are a chore. My truck is a 2008 GMC 3500 HD dually.Camper is a 2011 Carriage Cameo 36FWS 16,000 lb 5th Wheel. On level ground, it is so aggravating to hitch and unhitch. I literally have to have my wife get in the truck and barely put it in gear and hold thebreak either backwards or forwards to completely get it to lock the handlein place. Goes in easy but will not safety lock without help. Trying to unhooksame issue if not worse. The camper is set up level no high rises or anything like that.I have also tried to lower the pins and bring it even down closer to the top of the bed ofthe truck to make it easier. No better results. Any solutions from the manufacturer would certainly help. Nothing bent or anything like that. Perfect shape.

There are a few common things to look at when you're having trouble getting the hitch jaws to lock or unlock. When you're unhitching, if there's pressure on the jaws, they won't want to open. Use the manual feature of your brake controller to lock the trailer's brakes, and gently back the truck into the trailer slightly. This should relieve the pressure on the jaws and allow the hitch to open. When hitching, first of all, the skid plate of the pin box should be a bit lower than the hitch. When you back into the king pin, the skid plate of the hitch should slide under the pin box and raise it an inch or so. The hitch jaws should be unlocked but CLOSED as you're backing into the king pin. Make sure the lock handle is pointing upward. The pin will slide the jaws open, and they'll snap shut automatically. Then rotate the handle downward to lock. If you open the jaws before backing into the king pin, you'll have difficulty locking the jaws. Please let us know if this solves the issue.

Ask the Experts about this Reese Fifth Wheel
Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel?

  • Some Guidelines for Choosing Fifth Wheel Hitch for Fifth Wheel Camper with 9000 lb Dry Weight
  • I would recommend choosing a fifth wheel hitch with your future needs in mind. All fifth wheel hitches do the same thing, retain the trailer king pin. The differences between hitches amount to their weight capacities, the features offered or the method of mounting to the truck. The lowest capacity hitch we offer is a 15K, like the Pro Series, part # PS30093 (or RP30094 for a 6-1/2 foot bed truck.) Either hitch would work for you as your trailer is unlikely to weigh more than that when...

  • How to Determine if a Ford F250 Has Rails or Hitch Prep Package for Fifth Wheel Towing
  • If the truck bed of your Ford F250 has 4 pucks like what is in the picture I attached then your truck has the underbed hitch prep package and the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # RP30144 would be the correct hitch for your truck. If you have what looks like two metal rails that go from left to right in the bed of your truck then you have industry standard fifth wheel hitch rails and would need a hitch designed to fit those rails like the Reese Titan 20k part...

  • Pullrite Superglide or Demco Hijacker Comparison
  • The advantage the Pullrite Superglide would have over the Reese Titan 20k hitch # RP30870 is that you would never have to get out of your truck to activate the slider. We don't sell Pullrite hitches, but that would be a huge selling point for me to pick it over the Titan. However, I do have an additional option for you to consider that we DO offer that does automatically slide like the Pullrite. I really like the Demco Hijack part # DM8550034. This hitch would work similarly to the...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit for a 2017 Ford F-250 Short Bed
  • For your new 2017 Ford F-250 short bed you have some options for 5th wheel hitches and installation kits. For an install kit I recommend going with a custom kit, # RP50074-58. With a custom kit there is less drilling required and it takes less time to install compared to universal kits. And for a hitch I recommend the Reese Titan 20 # RP30870. This hitch is rated for 20,000 pounds, features the super-secure serrated dual jaw design, and it is cushioned. I have linked a video review of...

  • How to Reduce Eliminate Fifth Wheel Trailer Chucking
  • What you're referring to is called chucking, the unwanted fore and aft movement of the trailer. If the fifth wheel hitch you're using has a slide bar jaw or a two piece jaw that's worn and has lots of play in it, it would cause the chucking you're experiencing. Even though the king pin might be held by the hitch jaws so it's in no danger of popping out. If the jaws allow any play at all the king pin's rattling around in the hitch jaws will be transferred to the vehicle, which isn't very...

If you are wanting to go with a 5th wheel hitch that uses the standard base rails then I recommend going with the Reese Titan 20K # RP30870 along with Base Rails Kit # RP50066-58. The Titan 5th wheel hitches are one of the best hitches that we currently carry due to the dual-jaw system that uses geared teeth to help secure...

  • Good news, I can help you find what you need for your 2016 Ram 2500. The Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # RP30154 will allow you to mount a sliding hitch like the 20K Reese # RP30870 in it. This 20K hitch will accommodate your toy haulers hitch weight better than a 16K hitch would. It is important to note that this setup may still not give you the turning clearance you are looking for and you could instead go with a fixed hitch like # PS30121 and a Sidewinder, like the one that fits...

For that size truck, I recommend the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R24 Slider - Dual Jaw - 24,000 lbs # C16566. • Are You Supposed to Grease a 5th Wheel Trailer King Pin
  • There is no reason to grease the king pin on a 5th wheel trailer since the skid plates should be greased.
