Elite Series Jaw

Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece, self-latching jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less rattle and movement as well. And the convenient lock indicator on the hitch handle ensures that hookup is complete and secure before you can lock your trailer to your hitch.

Pivoting Head Animation

Pivot Action for Simple Hookup

It's easier than ever to hook your fifth-wheel trailer up to your hitch thanks to the 4-way pivoting head on this Reese fifth-wheel hitch. Front-to-back and side-to-side movement make hookup easy, even on unlevel ground.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel - Sliding Fifth Wheel - RP30083 Review

Today were going to review part number RP30083. This is the Reese Fifth Wheel Singe-Jaw Trailer Hitch with the round-tube slider and the 20,000-pound weight capacity. This fifth wheel hitch has the one-piece, forged, self-latching jaw which will provide absolute security with the wrap-around design and it gives increased jaw-to-king-pin contact which will result not only in a stronger connection, but less rattle and movement as well. It has a convenient lock indicator over here on the side by the handle, which will ensure that the hookup is complete and secure before you can lock your trailer to your hitch. Basically I just want to show you if we take the pin and clip out of there, that indicator would slide into position which would keep you from putting anything through the hole there. So if we pull the handle to open the hitch, you can see the single jaw moves out of the way and the funnel is now open for the king pin to slide into.

Once the king pin slides in, the jaw would wrap around it, and at the very bottom, let me just show you again here, right down here theres a little indicator. Thats what will move this part out here, so right there, that would wrap around the king pin. Then let me just turn this so you can actually see the indicator working here right on the side. When that king pin pushes on that indicator, as youll see this moves this lever out of the way and it will open up the hole where the hole in the handle and the hole on the head will line up, and you can put the pin and clip through to keep it in place so it doesnt move out of position. Keeps the jaw wrapped around the king pin.

You can also put a padlock through there for additional security. That is sold separately. This hitch does come with the tough, heavy-duty stamped head that is used on the more expensive elite series style hitches. This head is a four-way pivoting head. It would move front-to-back and move six degrees side-to-side.

That will give you a fast, easier hookup even on unlevel ground. This head also has a Zerk fitting right here up on the top if you can see, you can put a grease gun on there and actually squirt grease that would go underneath and lube a lot of the moving parts. This head also has the nine-inch wide funnel, rather than traditional six-inch wide funnel. Thatll provide a larger area for the guiding king pin into hitch. Has an extendable-length, lockable handle, which will let you easily secure trailer to the hitch with a padlock like I showed you on this.

This hitch also has a four-inch height adjustment. Just going to turn it here so I can show you on the crossmember there are four sets of holes, and thatll give you a range of four inches to put the hitch head above the truck bed. Basically if you put these bolts through the top holes that would put it at the lowest position, which would be 14 inches. If you bolted it onto the bottom holes, which would put it at the highest position, it would be 18 inches. So it would be a range of four inches from 14 to 18 inches above your truck bed. The legs on the round-tube sliders have a travel of 11 inches from front to back. This part does come with a five-year limited warrantee. Now as a demonstration here, I do have it installed on base rails and it also has the installation brackets on the side. They are not included. Those would have to be purchased separately for your application. We do recommend if possible, if they have custom installation kit for your vehicle to use the custom kit, and the reason we recommend that is because the mounting brackets that are on the side here will actually use existing holes in the trailer frame of your vehicle. It minimizes the amount of drilling time, and it also cuts the installation time in half when compared to the universal installation brackets. This hitch will fit Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch, and Reese base rails. It does have a nice black powder coat finish which will resist corrosion. Part is made in the USA. It does have a 20,000-pound weight capacity and the vertical load limit on this is 5,000 pounds. I do want to be able to rotate to the side to be able to show you the slider legs how they operate. Basically this handle here is what will operate it, so you if push this handle to where its in the red or the straight upright position, the indicator pin would indicate its in unlocked position. When its unlocked, that means it will allow these legs to slide on the round slider 11 inches maximum front-to-back. Now once you pull into the campground and youre wanting to back your fifth wheel into a location, what you want to do is push this handle all the way to where it says maneuvering position, thats the locked maneuvering position. What that would be is that would move your slider legs all the way towards your tailgate of your truck or towards the fifth wheel, and then it would lock into position back here. That will give you a lot more clearance between your truck cab and your fifth wheel. So when youre doing tight turns when youre maneuvering your fifth wheel into a camping spot, that will give you a lot more clearance. Then when youre done camping and youre ready to get on the road for highway driving, what you want to do is just push this all the way that way to where it says lock towing position. What that will allow, is your legs would slide all the way up closer to your truck cab and lock into position and the fifth wheel will be a lot closer to your truck cab. Since youre not going to be doing any tight turns or any maneuvering that would be for the towing on the highway. And that should do it for review on part number RP30083. .

The Reese assembly instructions were clear and assembly was pretty straight forward until I went to mount the center section on top of the slide rails. The uprights for the slide rails had a large metal bur from the manufacturing process that hindered the U channels on the center section from going down. I also discovered that the center section U channels were bent in and the holes on one side were drilled crooked. I contacted ETrailer.com customer service and they quickly sent me a new center section and return shipping tag for the defective part. The replacement part arrived quickly and assembly was much easier with the new parts. Reese manufacturing quality is average at best but the ETrailer.com customer service is Excellent. Thank you ETrailer.com for helping resolve my issue timely and without hassle! 240369

Nice hitch, went togeather fairly easy. Etrailer was very fast on shipping. Only towed about 30 miles with no problems. On the down side when I removed the hitch for winter only the head removes from the hitch assembly. The sliders and the cross members (one piece unless you unbolt them) are very heavy to remove from the truck bed. 161241

This is my first 5th wheel hitch. It was purchased to pull my 31ft. Heartland Sundance with my 2017 Ford F250. When delivered it was in several heavy boxes but assembly was very easy with simple hand tools. The videos of the assembly and placement of the hitch were very helpful. Pros easy installation into truck bed, easy to use, heavy duty and well built. Cons I haven't found any! 522274

Hitch arrived in less than time estimated. It was not too difficult to assemble, has good instructions. It is somewhat heavier than the one replaced but old one was only 15,000 lbs. Works as advertised and is much easier to slide than old one even when new. good product. 7913

This hitch was delivered within 3 days, even using the free ship option. Awesome! I had the rails already bolted in my F350, so the slider and head installation went smoothly with the enclosed instructions. Stout head, and I love the round sliders. Can't wait to hitch up my 12k lbs and drag her up and down the roads around here! 7448

That will be where the handle will be. To determine the hitch height you'd need you need to measure from the pin box plate (not the king pin) down to the...

  • Will Reese 20K Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Fit a Dodge Ram 3500 with CMI Rails
The Reese slider 5th wheel hitch # RP30083 will fit in industry standard above the bed rails, the same as your Husky hitch, so I don't see a problem with compatibility. I have included a picture showing the spacing of industry standard rails where the hitch would attach that you can use to compare to your rails.

  • Raising the Height of a 5th Wheel Trailer to Tow it Level with a 2016 Ram 2500
The general steps to take to get a 5th wheel hitch level are to adjust the height of the hitch and pin box up or down as needed. If this is not sufficient there are other ways to get the trailer more level but you definitely to not want to turn the axles upside down because that will diminish their capacities and can lead to suspension and tire wear problems. To move the leaf spring stacks above the axles you could either weld on new spring seats to the tops of the axles or use an over/under...

  • How to Determine 5th Wheel Hitch Fit on a 2006 Ford F-350 with Suspension Lift
You actually may have a difficult time finding a 5th wheel hitch depending on how much of a lift you have on your 2006 Ford F-350. First of all you will need to choose a sliding 5th wheel hitch so that you have turning clearance for your short bed. Next you need to make sure that it has a height setting that will allow your trailer to tow level. The only way to ensure this is for you to measure from the ground to the bed of your truck (which is 42") and then from the ground to the king...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lunging When Pulling 40 Foot 5th Wheel Trailer
The lunging you are experiencing is referred to as chucking. This can be due to uneven weight distribution, poor contact between the king pin and hitch, or even trailer brakes requiring a different brake controller adjustment setting. Road conditions will absolutely impact how much of that jarring and chucking you feel, so finding a solution is important if you will be traveling a lot or are sensitive to motion sickness. This is more common with bigger and heavier trailers and using...

  • Can the Reese Titan 20k Fifth Wheel Hitch fit 2016 Ford F-250 with Hitch Prep
The Reese 20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30083 can be made to fit the hitch prep package in a 2016 Ford F-250, BUT you have to use the Hitch Prep Adapter part # RP30156 as well. The Titan hitch is designed to fit standard fifth wheel rails, not the underbed rails you would have in the Ford hitch prep packages. Using the # RP30156 you will be converting the underbed rails to standard fifth wheel rails and the hitch will fit. I attached a review video for this...

Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30083 has a height of 15-1/4 inches when it the lowest position.
