Video Transcript for Review of Pro Series Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - PS30093

Today we're going to take a look at the Pro Series Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with the slide bar jaw. It has a 16000 pound gross towing weight capacity. This is a sturdy, reliable fifth wheel hitch and affordable cost. Uses a rounded slide bar, single jaw system here, that'll automatically latch around your trailer's king pin. Offers improved load management and ride when compared with similar models.Does offer the four way pivoting head, you can see it goes front to back, and side to side. Helps with trailer hook up, ensures easy trailer hook up on uneven ground.

On the handle you can has a nice cushion grip on this, provides a comfortable jaw operation. The tab right here on the handle is lockable, with the included padlock that they include. So once you have your hook up made, and your handle in place, these holes will line up and you can put the padlock through there to lock it into place. Now this does give you an adjustable hitch height, which allows for an accurate match to your specific trailer's height. Now you'll see if I just rotate this a little bit and if you look here, right on the side, you can see the cross member has four rows of holes, I have it in the lowest row of holes, which is going to give you the highest hitch height. So it's going to be at 17 inches right now.

If you go to the lowest one, it'll drop it all the way down to 13 inches. So you have a range of 13 the lowest, 17 the highest. And that's always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. And as I mentioned right now, I have it in the highest position. Now the design of this hitch makes it a fifth wheel hitch, it's very easy to install and remove. The head unit itself can be removed with these two pins and clips.

If you just pull the two clips out, pull the pins out, take the head out, the rest you can take out so one person could remove this pretty easily. The legs on this, they're one pieced form legs which will create a nice wide footprint for superior stability. Now it does require base rails and an installation kit to install this to your vehicle. We do sell those items separately on our website. It will fit the Curt, the Valley, the Drawtight hidden hitch and re-space rails and it will work with vehicle specific fifth wheel brackets which we do sell separately to make the installation easier than with the universal kit. The reason we recommend the vehicle specific or custom fit for your vehicle, cuts the installation time by about in half, because it's drilled with holes that are already in your vehicle.

And the way to find out that if there's a custom fit for your application, is go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if there's a custom fit application available for you.Does include these four pins and clips that allow you to connect these legs to the base rails that'll be in your vehicle. Does come with a nice set of instruction manual here, it'll describe how it all puts together and how it operates. Did mention the padlock here. Basically, you can see right now it's locked so the holes line up, so all you have to do, gives you two keys, just open your padlock, drop it through the two holes, push it together, and it locks it in place, and the handle can't be opened. So nobody could, once you're hooked up, nobody's going to be able to remove your fifth wheel from it. And then to open it, just put the key in, unlock it, just like that. Now again, the gross towing weight capacity on this is 16000 pounds. Vertical load limit is 4000 pounds. We mentioned the hitch height adjustment is from 13 inches at the lowest, up to 17 inches at the highest. King pin opening at the widest point is five and three-quarter inches. And the skid plate itself has a thickness of about a half an inch.So what I want to demonstrate now is how the jaw opens and how it'll connect. Here's an example of what a king pin would be like on your fifth wheel. So basically what you want to do first is you'll take your handle here, pull it all the way out, and then there's a little indentation here, just move it to the back, and it'll hold it in the open position. Now you're ready to hook up, so when you're backing up and this is the king pin on your fifth wheel, as it's moving in, you can see it comes in far enough, it'll push in on that slide bar, and it'll release it and then that slide bar will slide all the way across, and it's locked into position. And as we mentioned, the holes line up, now you can put your pin through there, or your lock to secure it.And to remove it again, just pull open the handle into the open position, and it'll slide right out.But that should do it for the review on the Pro Series Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with the slide bar jaw, and a 16000 pound gross towing weight capacity.

I recently ordered a fifth wheel hitch for my families new fifth wheel camper. When I received the order I was missing the head of my fifth wheel hitch. I called etrailer with in minutes. After sitting on hold for 20 minutes I was finally able to talk to someone. I explained to them what I was missing and the were sorry but were not willing to take the blame for not shipping my part. After talking to numerous people and then manager, all I wanted was for them to make their mistake right by overnight me the part that they forgot to ship but it was clear they were not going to go out of their way to satisfy me as a customer. I explained to them numerous times that this hitch was time critical because of a family vacation (with new camper) starting monday morning. After being on the phone for an hour trying to get this figured out I had to bite the bullet and pay the 2 day shipping on the part to get it to my door in time for my family trip. I will never work with etrailer again. 421297

If you don't mind a sloppy noisy rattling "CHEAP" hitch this is for you. If you have a 5th Wheel RV that you really treasure this is not the hitch you need. I made 5 trips using this hitch and for local runs not going over 45mph it was fine but when you get on interstate highways and go 65 mph + this hitch will shake your trailer apart. I bought it 3/18/19 and replaced it on 7/17/2019 with the Reese Titan Series 16K RP30866 its awsome and what a difference (its being discontinued and you can get this high end hitch for a little bit more than the PS30093). I would really think twice about the PS30093 so if you can afford something better you should go for it because I know from experience you will be dissatisfied with the PS30093. PS I have a slightly use one for sale very cheap :) 674804

If youre on a tight budget this hitch could be a good choice, but the slide bar type jaw used by this hitch wont provide the smoothest of rides. Pro Series Reese have sold tens of thousands of these hitches over the years, and for many folks they serve very well until an upgrade can be afforded.

The hitch is not the quality I expected. It is not a good replacement for my old RBW which 3/4 bolts this one has 1/2 inch bolts instead and some more little items. The hitch came right on time. the boxes were torn pretty bad but nothing missing. The install was simple and easy to do. One last thing the hitch plate is either clear forward or clear down on the back making it hard get the right clearance to hook up. Would I buy this hitch again? I will say yes I would. 396336

I just finished test fitting all the components of the system and found it very easy and enjoyable. The only problem I noticed was the packaging was far from robust enough to handle the product. Three of the four box's were severely damaged and were only held together by a mass amount of packing tape which made opening tough. I should have taken pictures my mistake, but wanted too make sure all components were present and accounted for which they were. Great system and was a pleasure to deal with, thanks for the great product and will sent pictures when installed in truck... 391531

  • Is the Head of the 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # PS30093 Tilting Back Going to be a Problem for Hookup
If your Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # PS30093 is resting as is demonstrated in the attached picture that is perfectly normal. It actually makes connecting your trailer a little easier. When backing up you will just need to aim the 5th wheel hitch head towards the middle of the pin box as that is where the king pin is. If you are still a little uneasy about hooking up your 5th wheel you can use a backup camera to assist you. I recommend going with a magnetic camera as they can...

  • Towing 5th Wheel Trailer with 2003 Ford F-150 that has 5-1/2 Foot Bed
To tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2003 Ford F-150 that has a 5-1/2 foot bed, you will need a fixed 5th wheel hitch along with a Sidewinder Pin Box to move the pivot point of the king pin back 22 inches. This will allow for proper clearance when making sharp turns. The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch that you mentioned having, which is similar to the part # PS30093, has a 16,000 pound towing capacity and is compatible with your Reese RP30095 Rails. The slide bar jaw is considered...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty Towing 37-Foot Coachmen Chaparal
If your 5th wheel trailer has a profiled front, with angled surfaces rather than sharp 90-degree corners, then you may not need a slider hitch for your 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty with 6-3/4-foot bed. It certainly is possible to make low-speed turns with such a trailer without having to install a sliding hitch or Sidewinder pivoting pin box. You certainly CAN use a slider hitch if you like, for even better clearance for sharp turns. Your towing experience will certainly come into play here. The...

  • Sidewinder Recommendation for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2005 Ford F150 with 5.5 ft Bed
You are correct, for bed lengths that are shorter than 6 feet you will want to use a Sidewinder in conjunction with a fifth wheel hitch on your 2005 F-150 5.4 liter SuperCrew with a 5.5 ft bed. I attached an FAQ on Sidewinders for you to check, but once you have the correct Sidewinder installed on your fifth wheel trailer you would be good to pull it with your F-150. Sidewinders are pin box specific, so you will need to know the pin box model you have and then reference the chart...

  • Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Hitch to fit a 2003 Ford F-150 Super Crew with 5-1/2 ft Bed
I contacted the manufacturer on the Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # PS30093, and the told me the front to back width if the arm spread on this hitch is 22 inches and the side to side width of the arms is 20-5/8 inches. However, the 13 to 17 inch measurement that you referenced in the adjustable height of the hitch and not the distance of the rails installed in the bed of the truck. For your 2003 Ford F-150, I recommend the Reese Universal Bed Rails, # RP30035, for your 5-1/2 foot...

  • Will The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch 16000 lbs Fit A 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 6 Foot Bed Mega Cab?
The Pro Series 30056, is the similar hitch to the Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs, # PS30093. This is a nice hitch that will be a universal fit for most 5th wheel base rails, however, it is not recommended for use with a 6 foot bed unless you use a Revolution or Reese Sidewinder pin box on your trailer. Without a sliding 5th wheel hitch these alternate pin boxes are needed to allow you the clearance to prevent damage to your vehicle and allow you to make...

  • Cost Effective 5th Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit for a 1999 Ford F-250
I spoke with my contact at Reese regarding your Reese 30004 5th wheel hitch and they stated that this is an older model that used unique base rails specific to the hitch. Unfortunately, this particular unit is not compatible with industry-standard, above-bed base rails and the specific rails it needs are no longer available. Therefore, the only option I have for you to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 1999 Ford F-250 would involve purchasing a new 5th wheel hitch and base rail kit....

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 2500 Long Bed without Hitch Prep
We have exactly what you would need, but first I must thank you for giving me all of the information on your new truck and your current hitch. That makes my job much easier. For a rail kit that has been confirmed to fit your new 2015 Ram 2500 long bed without the factory hitch prep that is also confirmed to work with your Reese hitch I would recommend the Reese Rail Kit part # RP50054-58. This is a custom install kit that will install much easier than a universal kit and will minimize...
