Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Q24 Two-Piece Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

3-Point Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Q24 Color Indicator System

360-Degree Pivot

Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - C16069 Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the Curt Q25 Dual-Jaw fifth-wheel trailer hitch for the Chevrolet GMC Towing Prep package. This has a 25,000-lb weight capacity. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the Chevy GMC 2500 and 3500 trucks with the factory-installed Towing Prep package, starting in the year 2016. These legs are designed to drop right into the openings of the OEM under-bed hitch platform. For this video, I've mounted the legs to the crossmember and the head's all installed, so this is how it would look installed in your truck bed.

This does use a two-jaw locking system right here. It provides a nice 360-degree jaw-to-kingpin contact. Because of that, it will give you less rattle, more security than the slide bar models. The head, mounted in this crossmember is on a nice, unique spherical axial bearing, and that allows easy pivoting of the hitch head. It does give you smooth, 360 degree movement, not just front to back or side to side tilting.

It does also give you nice built-in cushioning to absorb any road shock. It is a self-aligning head, and it pivots for simple hookup. The handle is a lockable handle, which will let you easily secure the trailer to the hitch. It comes with the pinning clip. If you want, you can also get a padlock, which we sell separately, that would go through here and give you extra security. The handle itself, when you operate it, is a short-throw single-handle operation.

We're going to show you that in a minute, how that works. Now, there are three lube points on the head that have easy to access grease fittings on the jaws for easy maintenance. There's one right in the very middle, and there's an arrow that points to it. There's a Zerk fitting right under the jaws. That one is to grease the lower bearing.

On each side, there's an arrow and Zerk fittings, one on each side. Those two are to grease the jaw pins. This hitch does offer the three-point indicator system, which is color-coded. This will tell you if your hitch is ready to uncouple, couple or two. This color indicator is visible from the cab, so if your cab's back here, you can turn around and look and see what color is showing. That will tell you the position of the jaws in your hitch head. What I'm going to do now is rotate this, just so we can see the colors we're talking about. If we've got this all turned around here, you can probably see right here is the color indicator. Right now it's showing green in that hole right there. Green means you're ready to tow. The jaws are closed around the kingpin, so you're all ready to go. It's locked into place. If it showed yellow, that would mean it's ready to couple. The jaws would be open. The handle would be out, and you'd be ready to couple up. Now, if it does show red, red means uncouple, so if you ended up trying to couple and it didn't do it correctly and it's showing red, that means before you do anything, you want to check it out to make sure you get it to where it's going to show green. It's green for tow, yellow for couple, and red for uncouple. What I'm going to show you here, we're going to pull the pin and clip the latch, and I'll show you that sharp throat handle. Just like that, you can see now the jaws are both open. You can see it's showing yellow, which means you're ready to couple. I've got an example. This is what a kingpin would look like on your pin box of your trailer. You'll notice as it goes in and closes the jaws, just like that, the handle goes all the way in, shows green, which means you're ready to tow. Then you can close that latch, because the handle's in place. Then just put your pin and clip right back in, and you're ready to go. It's very simple, just like that. This nice indicator, color-coded indicator system will help you see it from the cab. They do have, also, a two-pin head removal here, makes it easy for one person to remove the hitch. Just pull out these two clips, pull out these pins and you can lift the head out of the crossmember. Then you can take the crossmember out, and then the legs. Piece by piece, you could remove it if there's just one person around, you don't have any help. I am going to spin this back and show you that it does come with a plastic lube plate that is included. There we go. This plastic lube plate right here, this is designed to let your kingpin guide smoothly into your hitch during hookup. This will go around the kingpin of your trailer, so as it slides in, it will help it slide in easier. It also protects, keeps metal-to-metal contact between your pin box and your hitch head with this in between it. There is a hitch height adjustment. When you go to mount these legs to the crossmember, there's three rows of legs that you're mounted to. That will give you a four-inch hitch height adjustment, anywhere from about 13 inches to 17 inches. Hitch height is always measured from the truck bed up to the top of the hitch head. Depending where you bolt the legs, to which row of holes, it will give you a four-inch range so you can get your trailer as level as possible with your tow vehicle. The custom feet right here, these are designed to mount into your Chevy GMC truck's underbed hitch platform. I'll show you how they work. We'll rotate it again a little bit, so you can see the lever. This is on each corner, you'll do this. There's a pin and clip you pop out. Rotate that lever 90 degrees. That will rotate that tab, and you'll do that at each corner. Once they're both open, you can drop it right into the underbed prep package that's on your vehicle. Once it's dropped in, you just rotate it back 90 degrees. It will rotate those tabs to lock it into place, and then just put your pin and clip right back in. Again, you'll do that on each corner, so very simple installation. The hitch is a sturdy steel construction, has a nice durable carbide powder-coat finish on it. The specs on that, the application is for the Chevy GMC trucks with the factory-installed towing prep package starting in 2016. Gross towing weight capacity is 25,000 pounds. Vertical load limit is 6,250 pounds. The hitch height, again, we mentioned, is 13 to 17 inches. Just to show you how this handle and the hitch head work again, from the other side, pop off the pin and clip. Rotate the lever, and then just pull your handle right out. You can see it releases just like that. You see the jaws are open. Back here, it will show yellow. You're ready to couple. Let's show it by putting on your lube plate. Again, you want to make sure that lube plate is all the way on your kingpin so when you're going to hook up, it would slide right on just like that, and you'll see the handle goes all the way in. It's showing green, which means you're ready to tow. Flip your lever over, put your pin and clip in, and it's all locked into place. You're ready to go. That should do it for the review of the Curt Q25 Dual-Jaw Fifth-wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevrolet GMC Towing Prep package, with the 25,000-lb weight capacity.

The product is ok so far , there isn't any information on which holes equate to the 13 - 15 - 17" height setting . ALSO - the arm that activates the hook up for the jaws is very stiff and does not even come close to the ease of operation that the video shows. The shipping packages were very damaged and open at one end . The head was scarred as were the legs. The delivery person even suggested that we open the cartons to assess the damages. I figured that since everything was steel that not much could have been damaged so he left it at that. I had to use a thread chaser on one of the holes as it was cross threaded and would not accept the bolt. Besides all of this I hope the hitch is as robust as you all claim. Thank you - Mike 447661

So the only problem I've seen so far was damage to the box. The box looked as if it had fell out of the truck a few times. The legs were scratched up but I'm ok with that. Instructions are easy. Install is simple. I have the factory rail and goose neck on a 2017 GMC 3500. The hitch is very heavy so I recommend putting it together in the bed unless you have help. It weighs 186lbs according UPS. Nice hitch. I have not used it yet. Comments on its performance will have to come later. 337676

Awesome hitch. I pulled a 20,000lb fifth wheel across the USA and it worked faultlessly. I have nothing but praise for this hitch. Buy it. You will not be disappointed.

I really appreciate everything E-Trailer did to help me with this purchase. Their customer service is top notch! The delivery was super fast! I was able to install the CURT Q25 with my son in 18 minutes flat. It was very easy. It also fits like a glove on my new 2016 American manufactured Truck! Thanks again and you'll have my buisness for a long time. 285879

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I am totally satisfied with my new hitch. Although once assembled it was heavy. Good thing my son was here to handle this one for me. I like the spread/footprint of the hitch and the mounting mechanism. Much better than the Ford and the Reece configuration. I can say that as I traded my F350 for Sierra 3500 Denali. Hooking my 5th wheel up and unhooking it is much easier than the Reese hitch. The time to receive my hitch was quick also. Thanks for a great product and your assistance. 355052

Couldn’t have had an easier order! I ordered my hitch on a Saturday and it arrived by Tuesday in 2 boxes. I was easily able to assemble the hitch in under 30 minutes by myself. The ease of the drop in system is amazing! This was purchased for my 2018 Silverado 3500HD, for towing mainly my 5th wheel but I can also pull anything I want/need! If I ever had to buy another hitch for any reason I don’t think I could beat the ease of ordering thru etrailer not to mention the best prices around. If I ever need to I would definitely shop here first. Glad I purchased here instead of paying more at the dealer for the same thing. 710865

The item came on time and was well packed, I have had 2 other Hitches over the years, this was my first Curt Hitch and it went together easy and after placing in the truck, we have used it 3 times now and it worked great. I have made a lot of purchase with etrailer, always good service 696383

2016 Ram 3500

Product arrived in a timely manner and was very easy to install in my 2016 GMC Sierra 3500. The toughest part of the assembly is manhandling the heavy pieces to bolt it together. Having a helper would have made that easier, but it's certainly not impossible as a one person install. Once you figure the assembly out, it's a 15 minute job. I had to pull the hitch and raise it up after buying a RV trailer. It probably took me 10 minutes to pull it, raise it, and reinstall in my truck with no helpers. As they say, it's always faster the second time. Easy hookup to our new RV trailer and not a sound as we towed 350 miles thru hills across Arkansas and into Mississippi. 597779

Works great in our Chevy 3500HD. Little heavy to lift by myself but the fifth wheel plate comes apart with 2 pins and makes it easier to handle. Easy to operate 578195

product is great but like previous reviews that i read packaging could be very much improved . received 2 packages 1 had the head in it that was packaged very good , however the package with the leg mounts looked like it had gone thru a war zone . legs were scratched but not damaged , just put a little touch up paint on them . install was very easy , it went together with ease . fit in my 18 3500 Silverado with no issues . 482199

Chevrolet Silverado 3500

I purchased this hitch about a year ago. I have pulled my Artic Fox 24' fifth wheel about 6000 miles and love this hitch. It replace a reese fifth wheel with hitch. I absolutely love this hitch. It is very quite when pulling. No clunking when you stop and go. A big thanks goes to Cathy T. for helping me along with the process. I will say that before beginning to install it in your vehicle please read the directions. I installed this in a new chevy 3500 with the puck system on it. You will probably have to loosen up some of the locking nuts with cotter keys in them to get them to lock into place. (instructions tells you that you may have to do this) Hope this helps someone. 476885

They shipped the item super fast. It was very easy to put together. Had to make a few adjustments to two of the locking pins that go in the bed. It installs and comes out of the truck bed very easy. It appears to have a good powder coating on it. Since I just received the item I have towed with it down the road. I just moved my camper around the yard. Its easy to hook up the camper and disconnect the camper. So far very happy with the fifth wheel. 470733

My contact said they are basically the same in the hitch head except for the slightly thicker gauge metal on the Q25 head.

  • Can Breakaway Cable be Attached to Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1-Ton
It sounds like you are talking about a breakaway cable. If the trailer was to come off the hitch it would pull that cable out of a switch that then applies the electric brakes using power from a battery on the trailer. Provided the cable can be attached to the tow vehicle in some way it does not necessarily have to pin into the same place as on your current hitch. I am sure you could still attach it to Curt hitch # C16069 but if you wanted to email me some pictures of how the cable...

  • Underbed Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for Empty Truck Bed on 2016 GMC Sierra 2500
We have an underbed fifth wheel hitch solution that would work well on your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 without the factory rail kit, but the Curt you mentioned could not be made to work unless you went back to GM to have them install the factory rail kit in your truck. The best solution we have though is the B and W kit part # BWRVK3500 which fits into a gooseneck ball shank of the Turnoverball rail kit part # BWGRNK1016 which is a custom fit for your truck. I attached a picture that shows...

  • 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Hitch Options for 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Diesel Short Bed
If your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 diesel short bed has 5 holes in the bed then it has the factory-installed puck system that accepts a fixed 5th wheel hitch like the 24K Curt # C16545-16025. For a slider hitch setup you can use adapter # C16023 to allow use of a slider like # C16536. For a gooseneck kit for this package we have part # C60692 from Curt. If it has dealer-installed industry-standard above-bed 5th wheel rails then you can use a sliding 5th wheel hitch such as Curt #...

  • Can 3/4-Ton Pickup Safely Tow 13,000-lb Boat and Bumper-Pull Trailer
You don't necessarily need to have a dually truck for towing your 13K-lb combined boat and trailer weight but naturally you do want to ensure your vehicle has at least some safety margin in its towing capacity relative to the loaded trailer weight. For a 5th wheel RV type trailer that has a high pin weight resting in the bed a dually setup can be preferred but most boat trailers do not put that much tongue weight on the vehicle, especially if it is a power boat that tends to be rear-heavy. Many...

  • How to Tow Both a 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer with a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 Long Bed
In order to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 long bed you are going to want to use the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16069. In order to tow a gooseneck trailer with your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 long bed you are going to want to use the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit part # C60692. Both of these options are a confirmed fit for your truck so long as you have the factory rail kit/puck system. I am not really sure what you mean by if one of them will fit...

  • How Much Weight Can the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch Support
From the research that I did, it looks like none of the Kaufman trailers have a Gross Trailer Weight rating of over 18,000 lbs. Since the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16069 is rated for 25,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight and 6,250 lbs for Vertical Load Limit, the weight will not be an issue. Keep in mind that this specific hitch that you reference will only fit 2016-2017 GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 and Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500 with 8 foot beds and...

  • Determining Best Truck to Pull 38 Foot 5th Wheel Trailer
There are a few things you will want to look at when looking at a new truck to pull your 38 foot fifth wheel trailer. You will first want to make sure that whatever truck you choose has the needed towing capacity to pull the weight of your trailer. You will need to first determine the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of your trailer, which will give you its maximum loaded weight. I recommend going with at least a 3/4 ton truck (Ram 2500, Ford F-250, Chevy/GMC 2500). These trucks (along...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation to Fit Reese Elite Rail Kit in Long Bed GMC Sierra
I have a similar hitch that would work for you, but the Curt Q25 part # C16069 that you referenced will only fit the Chevy Hitch Prep Package that started in 2016. For an 18k hitch to fit your Reese Elite rail kit you would want the part # RP30142 or for a 26.5k hitch you would want the part # RP30871.

  • How Much Does Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch for GM 5th Wheel Prep Package Weigh
Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16069 has a shipping weight of 205 pounds. This hitch is designed to fit directly in the factory 5th wheel prep package on 2016 to 2018 GMC/Chevy 2500 and 3500 trucks with 8 foot beds so no additional rails are needed for those trucks. If you have an 8 foot bed model but do not have the factory prep package then you would use hitch # C16265 which has a shipping weight of 154 pounds. And for the installation kit and rails use # C16411-204 which has...

  • Can Curt Q25 Fifth Wheel Hitch # C16069 Install in Bed of 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 w BedRug Installed
You can use the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16069 in the bed of your 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 long bed with a BedRug like the part # BMC07LBS but you will have to cut out the mat around where the pucks are. The hitch needs to make solid metal to metal contact to the truck bed so you'd need to have the mat cut out as much as needed to prevent the hitch from resting on the mat in any way.

  • Recommended 25K 5th Wheel Hitch for 2016 GMC Sierra 3500
Since your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 dually has the factory-installed 5th wheel rail kit (with 4 pucks in the bed) you can directly install a hitch made for that rail system, such as the 25K Curt hitch # C16069. This hitch features a cushioned 360-degree-pivoting head for easier hitching on uneven ground. This hitch will provide capacity equal to the truck itself to maximize your towing capability. If instead you have industry-standard 5th wheel base rails installed, what we call ISRs, such...

  • Factory Tow Prep Puck Spacing Different Between 2018 GM Truck Models
According to my research, a 2018 GM Truck with the OEM tow prep system had pucks that would measure 22 inches apart when measured front to back and 27 inches side to side, on center. Reese also offered an aftermarket under-bed mounting system whose pucks measured 27 inches side to side and 13 inches front to back, on center. If you could get me the center to center side to side and front to back puck spacing, as well as any info you can find by looking underneath, I'd be happy to...
