Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A20 Two-Piece Interlocking JawA20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A25 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - C16036 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the CURT A25 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Ford Towing Prep Package. Has a 24,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty Trucks with the factory installed towing prep package. On a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this is a fifth wheel hitch that'll mount in your truck bed, so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This one uses the interlocking two jaw system here, provides a nice 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact.

This will give you less rattle, more security than slide bar models. The head on this is a fully articulating head, moves in all directions instead of just front to back or side to side. Gives you more controlled coupling and a nice, stable, quiet ride. It will self-align for easy hookups, suppresses any road shock and it reduces bothersome towing noise. Now, the handle here, which is used to open the jaws, it's a single throw handle operation to open them. Has a pin and clip here that locks it, keeps it in the closed position if you remove the pin and clip.

To open it, you just pull the handle out, move it back and the jaws will pop open. I'm going to show you in a few minutes how this works. Now, the handle can be locked with a padlock. The hole here that the pin goes through is large enough, you could put a padlock through there for extra security. We do sell them separately on our website. This handle will self-reset to the ready to couple position after you uncouple your trailer.

Go and put the pin and clip right back in.Now, onto those jaws we we're talking about, if you look over here, there's a Zerk fitting, a greased Zerk fitting over there. They got two built-in greased Zerk fittings for easy lubrication of the jaws. Now, the main feature on this hitch, it is a three point color coded lock indicator system. What that does, it ensures secure towing because you'll be able to see it post .. It shows a color and a shape.

By looking at that from the cab of your truck, under the hitch head right here, it'll show you the position of the jaw or tell you the position of the jaws you're in.What I'm going to do here is rotate this around, so I show you as we talk about it. Yeah. I think we got it around, there you go. See it, and you'll notice the colors right under the hitch head here. What's important is you'll be watching right here, this just shows you the different colors and shapes. This is what you'll be looking at. Right now, you see it's showing a green circle. That means the jaws are locked closed, you're ready to tow. There's a yellow triangle. If it shows that, it means the jaws are open. You're ready to couple. I'm going to show you how that comes about. If we remove the pin and clip, and we're going to open the jaws, pull the handle. Slide it back. If you heard the jaws pop open, and there you see the yellow triangle. It means the jaws are open, you're ready to couple. If it shows a red octagon in that, it'll mean the jaws are locked open. It's uncoupled, you do not want to tow in that position. It will usually self-reset from that position. Again, what's nice about this is if you're in the cab, you can just turn around, look at those colors and it'll tell you the position of the jaws. Also wanted to mention this handle right here. This is a one pin head removal, this large handle with the pivot pin on it. If you pull the clip on this side, you can slide that large pivot pin out. It allows you to take out the head, and you can take out the cross member and the legs. Actually, one person could disassemble this if you only have one person there.Again, I want to also mention the hitch height adjustment. Just rotate this around a little bit, so we can show you. Right here, there's four rows of holes on this center cross member, you can see there's two bolts that bolt to each leg. It will give you a four inch hitch height adjustment. Now, hitch height is critical. When you go to tow your fifth wheel, you want it to be as level as possible with your tow vehicle. Depending on your application, it'll give you a range of four inches from 13 inches to 17 inches. The hitch height adjustment is always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. It'll give you that range for your application if you put it in the correct application. Now, it does include the plastic lube plate, let me spin this all the way around again. There we go. The plastic lube plate right here, this will go onto your kingpin. This will let you slide smoothly into the hitch during hook up, prevents any messy grease buildup. Now, all the hardware is included to install this. Now, for this video, I've attached the legs to the center cross member. I have used some of the hardware, but it will give you all the hardware you need to install it. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions, tell you how to put everything together and how everything operates. Now, this part is constructed of sturdy steel, has a nice durable carbide powder coat finish to it. To install this into your vehicle, it has the factory system. Let me just show you the handles here on the side. There you go, there's two handles over here and two on that side. To install this, what you want to do is pop open this pin and clip. Rotate these handles out quarter of a turn, 90 degrees, and you'll notice the tabs will move.If you do the two on this side, two on that side, inaudible 00:04:56 drops right into the pucks of your factory system. Once they drop in, you want to lock it into place. As you return these handles, it turns those tabs, locks them into the pucks on your truck bed. Slide the pin and clip through, and that locks the handles. You do the same on that side, so it's fast and easy to install it.A few specs on this again. The application is for 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty Trucks with the factory installed prep package. Gross towing weight capacity is 24,000 pounds. One note, the capacity will be limited to the lowest rated towing component. Vertical load limit on this is 6,250 pounds. We mentioned the hitch height adjustment, 13 inches to 17 inches. One last note I do want to mention, this fifth wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes such as the Reese Sidewinder, the Reese Revolution, the Fifth Airborne Sidewinder only when used with a wedge. The wedges we do sell separately on our website. One last thing I want to do is just show you how the jaws operate. Down here, I got an example. This is what a kingpin would look like on your fifth wheel. When you go to hook up, the kingpin would slide in between the jaws. You can see when it slides back far enough, the jaws will completely interlock. The handle moves forward, the hole lines up and the main thing is if, again, you look at the color and shape, back here it's a green circle. That means the jaws are locked closed, you're ready to tow. All you have to do is take your pin, drop it through, clip it and the handle's locked. You're all ready to go.Then, to uncouple, just open it up. I'm going to hold onto this, you pull this handle. The kingpin will release just like that. Again, it shows the yellow triangle back here, which means the jaws are open. You're ready to couple. That should do it for the review on the CURT A25 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Ford Towing Prep Package with a 24,000 pound weight capacity.

I received the hitch in 2 boxes, 1 was damaged but the contents were ok. Delivery was on time. Assembly and installation went relatively well, took about an hour. I have not had a chance to tow with it yet. Will update at that point. Unit seems to be solid and well constructed. 585320

Looks great. Perfect fit. Easy assembly. The hitch is heavy. But that is to be expected for a 25 k hitch. 440398

A well made solid hitch. Easy to install and remove. I use it on a regular basis to pull a 42’ toy hauler with a 2016 crew cab F-350.

I got it put together and installed by myself in about 40 minuets. I haven’t hauled with it yet but it seems to be good quality. Looking forward to pulling my 36’ camper with it in a couple weeks. 472068

Love the hitch it's rated for high strength but isn't overly big and bulky and doesn't take up a ton of room in the truck...it fits into the bed pucks easy and locks down nice and tight with no flex or loosness in the pucks or gaps to create possible vibrations or noise when towing... Thanks Derek for hooking me after being back ordered but getting it to me ahead of schedule after letting you no I had a prescheduled trip within 2 weeks and you had to me with a week...headed out next week looking forward to see how the new truck and hitch set up works... Thank you for all you help... 441469

2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed: 1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and 2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution. This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting. 638805

I have always had pretty good luck w Curt products! Product was was as described easy to install. Def heavy duty. Other posts were same, meaning boxes sustained heavy damage, but product inside was in great shape. Few scratches but no gonna change my review. Etrailer did price match so saved me some cash. Haven't pulled with it yet, just moved 40 ft camper around. May update later. 635841

This 5th wheel hitch is AWESOME!!! It was as easy as the video to assemble and install. I put it together in the living room watching to Olympics. It is easy to install in the factory RAM puck system. You should use a buddy, it is a little heavy. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to put together and another 15 minutes to install and torque all the bolts to specs. 479288

First tow with a heavy trailer went great. Easy to hook it up east to un-hook. No problems so far. Still 5 stars!

Review from a similar Curt A25 in Fifth Wheel

After talking on the phone about the Q25 or A25, I decided to get the A24. Its the new model for the Curt hitch and can’t be happier with it so far. Shipment was fast. Boxes were damaged but can’t really blam it since the two boxes are very heavy. Hitch only had a few scratches on it. Was very easy to put together. I have not towed with it yet since it is still winter here in Maryland. The hitch is build very good. Can already tell it will be way better than my old hitch. I won’t put that company’s name on this review. I highly recomemd ordering from etrailer. 475218

Review from a similar Curt A25 in Fifth Wheel

Please note this review is for receiving and installing the A25 hitch. I will update this review when I have a few trips under my belt on how it performs. First, as others have mentioned, the box that housed the legs was in poor shape and was heavily taped to keep in intact. It even had a hole in one end but the legs were in excellent shape, except for a little scrape paint on the edge of one of the legs. Not a big deal and a little black paint will keep the rust away. The other carton contained the hitch head and support beam. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it had 48 staples. 38 in the top and 5 more on the two long sides. When I removed the staples on the two long flaps each of the inside flaps had 6 staples each. Talk about over kill! A good pair of lineman's pliers is a must for removing 48 staples. Once I was able to open the hitch box, the contents were in excellent condition with no scrapes or blemishes to the painted parts. A word of warning: This hitch is heavy! I've read somewhere this hitch, fully assembled weighs around 170 pounds so beware. Putting it together is simple. Four bolts and two screws for the handle and it's done. The manual explains installation for legs used with rails. My setup was for the GM puck system. The only difference I could see you don't use the lock nuts and there are no guide pins on the support beam. The 14mm bolt heads will take a 13/16 socket/wrench and if you use the lock nuts they take a 22mm wrench/socket. I don't understand why a U. S. made product mixes Metric and English fittings. Summary: This is a heavy product, well built, with easy to understand instructions. Simple installation and adjustments. The only negative (for me anyway) is once you open the jaws, you can't close them with the handle. The only way I see is to push the jaws in as would happen when hitching. Since they are spring loaded they will snap close with authority when engaged. I'm going to use an one inch wooded dowel to close the jaws as I prefer them being closed when not in use. 502000

This is everything I need and more for hauling my 3 car trailer. It is well made and it comes with good instructions. It takes about 45 minutes to assemble from the time you open the box. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is not a way to lock it in a ram with the pre prep package to prevent theft. 500803

We use this hitch to pull a 16k camper, or our 20k car hauler. I really like the symbols on the front of the hitch - so I can tell if I'm locked, before I get out of the truck. I have not had any issues with this hitch, it's been great! Had it around 1 year now. 612300

This is a very good hitch. I have had it for one year now and it is very easy to unhook when you are not level or on uneven ground. My old hitch I would have to fight to unhook when the trailer and truck were not on level ground. This one is Great ! Hookup is also quick and easy. I leave it in all the time but with the puck system was simple to install. 596576

Had a Pullrite Superglide in my old F350 standard bed but when I upgraded to the 8ft bed of the dually, I went with this hitch. Hitch came in 2 boxes and although the boxes worked banged up a bit, everything was there and fine. It only took about 30 minutes to bolt everything together and install on the rails that were already in the truck. I actually had to take the hitch apart once to adjust the hitch up a little. I wanted it as high as possible in the bed, while still clearing the Roll N Lock retractable bed cover. Looks good, seems solid and well made. Hitch head comes off to make it easier to remove this hitch, but even with the head connected, I am able to move the hitch in the truck (would need to take head off for me to lift the hitch out of the truck). Also installed a BedRug at the same time to clean up the bed. 579604

  • I reached out to my tech contact at Curt and he said the difference between the Curt Q25 # C16039 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and the Q24 # C16545-16017 is that the pan is slightly larger on the Q25 and they reinforced the main square body as well as the legs for that extra capacity. The A25 # C16036 is a rebranded Q25 with a head that is made of stronger material. I would say yes, the Reese # RP30871 is better. Reese hitches tend to have quite a bit less movement in them and their heads...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Rated for 25,000 Pounds for 2017 Ford F-450 Factory Puck System
  • The B&W Companion 5th wheel trailer hitches for the factory puck system in your 2017 Ford F-450 top out at 20,000 pounds capacity. But there is a hitch that fits the pucks directly and is rated over 25K. It is the Reese Elite Series hitch # RP30871 and it is rated for 26,500 pounds gross trailer weight. I have included a link to a video review of this hitch for you. If you are able to go with a 24K hitch then you can use the Curt A24 # C16036. It also is a direct fit to the factory puck...

  • Best Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-350 with Hitch Prep Package
  • The two best hitches on the market are the Companion and the Reese Elite hitch that you also mentioned. For you situation the Reese Elite hitch part # RP30871 will hands down be the winner. It has one of the best jaw systems around so it will give you a very smooth and comfortable ride and overall the hitch is very well built and reliable. The other option is the Curt A25 part # C16036 which also fits the rail kit of your 2017 Ford F-350. This hitch will work well but I'd give the jaw...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches for a 2018 Ford F-250 4x4 Both with and without Factory Prep Package
  • On your 2018 Ford F-250 4x4 look in the bed. If you see the 4 pucks in the bed like in the picture I have included then you do have the factory 5th wheel prep package. If you just see the indentations where the pucks would be then you do not have the prep package. If you do have those pucks then you can use a hitch that mounts directly in them. For a long bed truck you can use the following: # BWRVK3305 # C16036 # RP30871 # DM8550033 If you have the prep package and a short...

  • Is the Puck System for Ram the Same as GM
  • The factory prep package or pucks are not the same between Ram, GM and Ford. The spacing is all different which means you cannot use a 5th wheel hitch for Ram pucks on a GM with pucks. Take the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for example which is actually one of my favorites on the market. The part # C16046 is for Ram, the part # C16066 is for GM, and the part # C16036 is for Ford. If you take a close look at the mounting feet you will see the distance between them is different for each...

  • Best 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches for a 2011 Ford F-250 Long Bed
  • There are several 5th wheel trailer hitches that will fit the factory pucks in a 2011 Ford F-250 long bed. One of the most popular is B&W Companion # BWRVK3300. This hitch is rated for 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight and is made in the USA. There is also a 25K version, # BWRVK3305. We also have some options from Curt including the 24K hitches # C16039, # C16545-16017 or # C16036, 20K hitches # C16034 and # C16530-16017, and 16K hitch # C16520-16017. All of these hitches feature cushioned...

  • Can Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Be Used With Ford Factory Puck System?
  • The Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 21,000 lbs # DM8550043 is able to tow 21,000 lbs, but it does not come ready to install with the Ford factory puck system. To use it with the factory rail kit, you will need to use an adapter like the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # RP30156. This is the only adapter that we know is compatible with this hitch and your factory rail kit and it will reduce your...

  • Comparing 5th Wheel Hitches for 2017 Ford F-350 with Factory Rail Kit Puck System Compatibility
  • The Curt A25 # C16036 is less sturdy than the other hitches you mentioned, but many people really like them. My recommendation between the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Wiring Harness # RP30871 and the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package # BWRVK3305 is the latter. The B&W Companion Hitch has the more stable base and the dual jaw design is better at resisting the jarring and chucking you mentioned. The jaws are 1 inch thick...

  • Recommended B&W 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ford F-350 Long Bed for Towing 37-Foot Toy Hauler Trailer
  • Having extra capacity or safety margin in a 5th wheel hitch is nice. This is true for trailer jacks, winches and landing gear and is just as true for 5th wheel hitches. Extra capacity often means a longer time between required maintenance processes and sometimes even a longer overall working lifespan. Since you have a long bed Ford F-350 with the factory trailer prep you can use one of the specialized fixed (non-sliding) 5th wheel hitches shown on the linked page. All of these 5th wheel...

  • Comparing the Curt Q24, Q25, and A25 5th Wheel Hitches for a 2019 Ford F-350 with Puck System
  • I recommend going with the A25 over the Q24 or the Q25 series 5th wheel hitches from Curt. The A25 is the upgraded version of the Q series with the upgrades being stronger material for the hitch head and interlocking jaws that help reduce chucking (see attached pictures). Aside from that they are pretty much the same. The only difference from the Q24 to the Q25 is that the Q25 head unit is rated for 25,000 lbs which is 1,000 lbs more than the Q24. Since they both use the same leg unit that...

  • Can I Use a Curt A25 Hitch on a 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 with a Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck
  • The correct Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch that can be used with the Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Complete Hitch part # RP30158-68 on your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is part # C16036, not part # C16066. The next question I am sure you are going to have is why would I use a Ford OEM hitch in my Chevy instead of the Chevy OEM hitch. • If the Bed Rug that you installed on your 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty sits higher than the pucks on your 8' bed then you may need to cut out around the pucks a little bit. If your Bed Rug sits flush or lower than the pucks on your F-350 then the Curt A25 # C16036 will install directly without any modification.

  • Which 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches Fit in the 2012 Ford F-350 with Factory Towing Prep Package

  • Comparing Curt Q24, Curt Q25 and Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-350 With Factory Pucks
  • Realistically the Curt Q25 # C16039 and Curt Q24 # C16545-16017 fifth wheel hitches are no different and will give the same performance. Both of these hitches will fit into the puck system of your 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty and have a 24,000 lb capacity. The head unit of the Q25 is rated for 25,000 lbs but the legs are rated for 24,000 lbs and the capacity needs to go by the lowest-rated component. The Q Series are solid fifth wheel hitches and will do their jobs but the better option...

  • For your 2012 Ford F-350 with 8 foot bed and factory pucks, the Curt 5th Wheel Round Tube Slider for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package - 12" Travel # C16020 will fit, but a slider is not required for your 8 foot bed. It won't hurt when used correctly, but it isn't required. It will reduce your towing capacity to 24K max. Your photo showed the Curt OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch Legs # C16017 which is what is recommended for your 8 foot bed. That combination will give you the Curt A25 5th Wheel...

  • Is the Curt Q25 or Curt A25 Easier to Remove on a 2018 Ford F-450
  • The Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package part # C16039 and the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package part # C16036 for your 2018 Ford F-450 both have an easily removable head. The Q25 head can be removed by pulling two pins whereas the A25 head can be removed by only pulling one pin. Therefore, the A25 will be easier to remove. In regards to weight, the Q25 base weighs around 50 lbs and the Q25 head weighs around 110 lbs. The...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-250 Short Bed and Trailer with MORryde Orbital Pin Box
  • Since the fifth-wheel trailer you plan on pulling is equipped with the MORryde Orbital Pin Box you don't need to have a sliding hitch that would typically be needed on short bed trucks like your 2019 Ford F-250 so that you can have the required cab clearance during tight turns. This is because the Orbital Pin Box will move the pivot point back from the king pin to provide this clearance. With this in mind, the hitch I recommend for your 2018 Ford F-250 that is equipped with the factory...

  • Recommended Curt 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-350 dually?

Then for a Curt hitch I recommend the A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16180. This will fit in the rails perfectly and will give you a great king pin connection for less jarring and chucking. I also recommend adding a wiring harness like # 41157 to give you that in bed access connection for a clean look. If...

  • Best 5th Wheel Hitch for a Ford F-450 with Factory Prep Package and 22,000 Lb Towing Capacity
  • The absolute best 5th wheel trailer hitch for your Ford F-450 will depend on if you have the short 6-3/4' bed or the long 8' bed. If you have the short bed I recommend the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # C16545-16020. If you have the long bed then I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16036. The Curt A25 fixed and Curt Q24 slider are actually going to be your only options for a trailer with a gross trailer weight (GTW) of 22,000 lbs. They are both...
