A20 Two-Piece Interlocking JawA20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A25 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - C16036 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the CURT A25 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Ford Towing Prep Package. Has a 24,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty Trucks with the factory installed towing prep package. On a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this is a fifth wheel hitch that'll mount in your truck bed, so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This one uses the interlocking two jaw system here, provides a nice 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact.

This will give you less rattle, more security than slide bar models. The head on this is a fully articulating head, moves in all directions instead of just front to back or side to side. Gives you more controlled coupling and a nice, stable, quiet ride. It will self-align for easy hookups, suppresses any road shock and it reduces bothersome towing noise. Now, the handle here, which is used to open the jaws, it's a single throw handle operation to open them. Has a pin and clip here that locks it, keeps it in the closed position if you remove the pin and clip.

To open it, you just pull the handle out, move it back and the jaws will pop open. I'm going to show you in a few minutes how this works. Now, the handle can be locked with a padlock. The hole here that the pin goes through is large enough, you could put a padlock through there for extra security. We do sell them separately on our website. This handle will self-reset to the ready to couple position after you uncouple your trailer.

Go and put the pin and clip right back in.Now, onto those jaws we we're talking about, if you look over here, there's a Zerk fitting, a greased Zerk fitting over there. They got two built-in greased Zerk fittings for easy lubrication of the jaws. Now, the main feature on this hitch, it is a three point color coded lock indicator system. What that does, it ensures secure towing because you'll be able to see it post .. It shows a color and a shape.

By looking at that from the cab of your truck, under the hitch head right here, it'll show you the position of the jaw or tell you the position of the jaws you're in.What I'm going to do here is rotate this around, so I show you as we talk about it. Yeah. I think we got it around, there you go. See it, and you'll notice the colors right under the hitch head here. What's important is you'll be watching right here, this just shows you the different colors and shapes. This is what you'll be looking at. Right now, you see it's showing a green circle. That means the jaws are locked closed, you're ready to tow. There's a yellow triangle. If it shows that, it means the jaws are open. You're ready to couple. I'm going to show you how that comes about. If we remove the pin and clip, and we're going to open the jaws, pull the handle. Slide it back. If you heard the jaws pop open, and there you see the yellow triangle. It means the jaws are open, you're ready to couple. If it shows a red octagon in that, it'll mean the jaws are locked open. It's uncoupled, you do not want to tow in that position. It will usually self-reset from that position. Again, what's nice about this is if you're in the cab, you can just turn around, look at those colors and it'll tell you the position of the jaws. Also wanted to mention this handle right here. This is a one pin head removal, this large handle with the pivot pin on it. If you pull the clip on this side, you can slide that large pivot pin out. It allows you to take out the head, and you can take out the cross member and the legs. Actually, one person could disassemble this if you only have one person there.Again, I want to also mention the hitch height adjustment. Just rotate this around a little bit, so we can show you. Right here, there's four rows of holes on this center cross member, you can see there's two bolts that bolt to each leg. It will give you a four inch hitch height adjustment. Now, hitch height is critical. When you go to tow your fifth wheel, you want it to be as level as possible with your tow vehicle. Depending on your application, it'll give you a range of four inches from 13 inches to 17 inches. The hitch height adjustment is always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. It'll give you that range for your application if you put it in the correct application. Now, it does include the plastic lube plate, let me spin this all the way around again. There we go. The plastic lube plate right here, this will go onto your kingpin. This will let you slide smoothly into the hitch during hook up, prevents any messy grease buildup. Now, all the hardware is included to install this. Now, for this video, I've attached the legs to the center cross member. I have used some of the hardware, but it will give you all the hardware you need to install it. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions, tell you how to put everything together and how everything operates. Now, this part is constructed of sturdy steel, has a nice durable carbide powder coat finish to it. To install this into your vehicle, it has the factory system. Let me just show you the handles here on the side. There you go, there's two handles over here and two on that side. To install this, what you want to do is pop open this pin and clip. Rotate these handles out quarter of a turn, 90 degrees, and you'll notice the tabs will move.If you do the two on this side, two on that side, inaudible 00:04:56 drops right into the pucks of your factory system. Once they drop in, you want to lock it into place. As you return these handles, it turns those tabs, locks them into the pucks on your truck bed. Slide the pin and clip through, and that locks the handles. You do the same on that side, so it's fast and easy to install it.A few specs on this again. The application is for 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty Trucks with the factory installed prep package. Gross towing weight capacity is 24,000 pounds. One note, the capacity will be limited to the lowest rated towing component. Vertical load limit on this is 6,250 pounds. We mentioned the hitch height adjustment, 13 inches to 17 inches. One last note I do want to mention, this fifth wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes such as the Reese Sidewinder, the Reese Revolution, the Fifth Airborne Sidewinder only when used with a wedge. The wedges we do sell separately on our website. One last thing I want to do is just show you how the jaws operate. Down here, I got an example. This is what a kingpin would look like on your fifth wheel. When you go to hook up, the kingpin would slide in between the jaws. You can see when it slides back far enough, the jaws will completely interlock. The handle moves forward, the hole lines up and the main thing is if, again, you look at the color and shape, back here it's a green circle. That means the jaws are locked closed, you're ready to tow. All you have to do is take your pin, drop it through, clip it and the handle's locked. You're all ready to go.Then, to uncouple, just open it up. I'm going to hold onto this, you pull this handle. The kingpin will release just like that. Again, it shows the yellow triangle back here, which means the jaws are open. You're ready to couple. That should do it for the review on the CURT A25 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Ford Towing Prep Package with a 24,000 pound weight capacity.

I got it put together and installed by myself in about 40 minuets. I haven’t hauled with it yet but it seems to be good quality. Looking forward to pulling my 36’ camper with it in a couple weeks. 472068

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed: 1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and 2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution. This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting. 638805

I received the hitch in 2 boxes, 1 was damaged but the contents were ok. Delivery was on time. Assembly and installation went relatively well, took about an hour. I have not had a chance to tow with it yet. Will update at that point. Unit seems to be solid and well constructed. 585320

We have been living in our 5th wheel full time for about 6 months now and have towed it approx 5000 miles. The hitch has worked well so far, except that about 75 of the time I have to move the truck forward or back to relieve the pressure on the coupling to get it uncoupled. This is not a major issue just inconvenient.

Love the hitch it's rated for high strength but isn't overly big and bulky and doesn't take up a ton of room in the truck...it fits into the bed pucks easy and locks down nice and tight with no flex or loosness in the pucks or gaps to create possible vibrations or noise when towing... Thanks Derek for hooking me after being back ordered but getting it to me ahead of schedule after letting you no I had a prescheduled trip within 2 weeks and you had to me with a week...headed out next week looking forward to see how the new truck and hitch set up works... Thank you for all you help... 441469

I did a lot of research when looking for a high quality hitch to pull my 13,000 lb fifth wheel camper. I decided on this hitch and couldn't be happier. The hitch looks great and is extremely well constructed. The hitch opens easily, and when closed, locks the camper securely to the truck. I have the puck mounting system built to my truck bed frame, and love how easy it locks into place with almost no effort. If you are looking for a well constructed, easy to use hitch, look no farther...this is your hitch! You will not be disappointed. 800038

The puck system makes the hitch simple to install and remove. Loading and unloading the trailer is simple with the one handle control. Take the time to do it right the first time! 795357

I bought this hitch to replace a B&W OEM Companion Hitch. When I upgraded my truck from an F350 to a F450 my trailer was riding nose high with the B&W dropped to the lowest 16 3/4 inch setting. This Curt hitch drops down to 13 inches over the bed, allowing me to level out my trailer while still leaving 6+ inches clearance at the tailgate and passing the raised railroad crossing test. 793259

This is probably the best fifth wheel hitch I've ever used. It is very solid and has no issues when hitched. I have only two complaints: 1) you are supposed to be able to easily take this apart for removal. I have never been able to pull the pivot pin and separate it. 2) It takes some back and forth to get the lever to release. Sometimes you need to put pressure forward, sometimes backwards. I have yet to figure out the right way to do it the first time. 762379

I received two packages and one package was damaged BUT no damage to components inside. I put the hitch together and installed it in truck everything was in boxes and there was no damage or scratches on all components. I haven't towed my rig yet BUT I did couple & uncouple it, everything seems smooth and really quiet couldn't even hear when it latched so for very impressed can't wait to tow. I give it a 4 star rating only because I haven't towed yet will be back in touch. 714355

I can absolutely make a 5th wheel hitch recommendation for your potential 2020 Ford F-250, whether you get it with the factory puck system in the bed or not. Starting with my recommendation for the factory puck setup, I really like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16036. The primary difference between the two models is the head design. The A25 is essentially the upgraded Q24, as the head is simply made of stronger materials that allow for a much longer lifespan. The limited lifespan warranty on the A25 speaks to this quality. In terms of function both heads are fully articuating to allow for...

The Q series uses a spherical axial bearing that allows the head to pivot in a 360° arc. Because of this movement, the hitch CANNOT be used with rotating pin boxes like the Reese Revolution or Sidewinder. The Q series uses a 2 piece jaw that does a pretty good job of holding the king pin tightly, which prevents it from rattling around and transferring...

While there isn't any problem with the Q series, I recommend using the Curt A25 # C16036 for your 2020 Ford F-350 long bed with the pucks simply because it is the better option due to the jaws that interlock with each other and the fully articulating torsion head which helps to give you a smooth towing experience. I have attached review videos for the Q25 # C16039 and the A25 # C16036...

  • Comparing Curt Q24, Curt Q25 and Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-350 With Factory Pucks
Realistically the Curt Q25 # C16039 and Curt Q24 # C16545-16017 fifth wheel hitches are no different and will give the same performance. Both of these hitches will fit into the puck system of your 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty and have a 24,000 lb capacity. The head unit of the Q25 is rated for 25,000 lbs but the legs are rated for 24,000 lbs and the capacity needs to go by the lowest-rated component. The Q Series are solid fifth wheel hitches and will do their jobs but the better option...

  • Difference Between Curt Q24, Q25 and A25 5th Wheel Hitches for Ford Fifth Wheel Towing Package
That's a good question and the only difference between the Curt Q24 # C16545-16017 and Curt Q25 # C16039 fifth wheel hitches for your 2019 Ford Super Duty with the Fifth Wheel Towing Package is the head unit: the Q25 head is rated for 25,000 lbs while the head of the Q24 is rated for 24,000 lbs due to its slightly reinforced square body. That said, both of the hitches have legs that are rated for 24,000 lbs, which means the towing capacity of both remains 24,000 lbs. The Curt A25 #...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches for a 2018 Ford F-250 4x4 Both with and without Factory Prep Package
On your 2018 Ford F-250 4x4 look in the bed. If you see the 4 pucks in the bed like in the picture I have included then you do have the factory 5th wheel prep package. If you just see the indentations where the pucks would be then you do not have the prep package. If you do have those pucks then you can use a hitch that mounts directly in them. For a long bed truck you can use the following: # BWRVK3305 # C16036 # RP30871 # DM8550033 If you have the prep package and a short...

  • Is the Puck System for Ram the Same as GM
The factory prep package or pucks are not the same between Ram, GM and Ford. The spacing is all different which means you cannot use a 5th wheel hitch for Ram pucks on a GM with pucks. Take the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for example which is actually one of my favorites on the market. The part # C16046 is for Ram, the part # C16066 is for GM, and the part # C16036 is for Ford. If you take a close look at the mounting feet you will see the distance between them is different for each...

  • Difference Between Curt Q24, Q25 and A25 for 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty with OEM Puck Package
I'll start off by addressing the Curt Q24 # C16545-16017 and Q25 # C16039, which are basically the same hitch and will provide no difference in performance. Both of these hitches are designed to fit in the OEM puck system on the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty and both are rated for a 24000-lbs capacity; the head on the Q25 is rated for 25000-lbs, but the legs are only rated for 24000-lbs so you will be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component. When it comes to comparing the...

  • Is Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch Better than Curt Q25 for 2019 Ford F-350 with Rail Kit
Overall the A25 Curt Hitch for Ford Rail Kit part # C16036 is better than the Q24 # C16039 so it's definitely the way to go. The A Series is considered the upgraded and improved Q Series essentially. The big advantage is A series has an interlocking jaw design which holds the king pin very tightly for minimal movement which translates into a smoother and quieter ride when towing. The jaws of the Q Series press together but they do not interlock. See picture. The bearings in the head and...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Rated for 25,000 Pounds for 2017 Ford F-450 Factory Puck System
The B&W Companion 5th wheel trailer hitches for the factory puck system in your 2017 Ford F-450 top out at 20,000 pounds capacity. But there is a hitch that fits the pucks directly and is rated over 25K. It is the Reese Elite Series hitch # RP30871 and it is rated for 26,500 pounds gross trailer weight. I have included a link to a video review of this hitch for you. If you are able to go with a 24K hitch then you can use the Curt A24 # C16036. It also is a direct fit to the factory puck...

  • Best 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches for a 2011 Ford F-250 Long Bed
There are several 5th wheel trailer hitches that will fit the factory pucks in a 2011 Ford F-250 long bed. One of the most popular is B&W Companion # BWRVK3300. This hitch is rated for 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight and is made in the USA. There is also a 25K version, # BWRVK3305. We also have some options from Curt including the 24K hitches # C16039, # C16545-16017 or # C16036, 20K hitches # C16034 and # C16530-16017, and 16K hitch # C16520-16017. • Recommended Curt 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-350 dually?
The Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for Ford - Carbide Finish # C16428-204 is the custom fit for your 2019 Ford F-350 dually to make installation easy. Then for a Curt hitch I recommend the A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16180. This will fit in the rails perfectly and will give you a great king pin connection for less jarring and chucking. I also recommend adding a wiring harness like # 41157 to give you that in bed access connection for a clean look. If...

  • Best Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-350 with Hitch Prep Package
The two best hitches on the market are the Companion and the Reese Elite hitch that you also mentioned. For you situation the Reese Elite hitch part # RP30871 will hands down be the winner. It has one of the best jaw systems around so it will give you a very smooth and comfortable ride and overall the hitch is very well built and reliable. The other option is the Curt A25 part # C16036 which also fits the rail kit of your 2017 Ford F-350. This hitch will work well but I'd give the jaw...

  • Comparing 5th Wheel Hitches for 2017 Ford F-350 with Factory Rail Kit Puck System Compatibility
The Curt A25 # C16036 is less sturdy than the other hitches you mentioned, but many people really like them. My recommendation between the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Wiring Harness # RP30871 and the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package # BWRVK3305 is the latter. The B&W Companion Hitch has the more stable base and the dual jaw design is better at resisting the jarring and chucking you mentioned. The jaws are 1 inch thick...

  • How Many Bolt Holes Are Needed for a Lippert 1716 Pin Box
I spoke to my contact at Lippert and they informed me that on the Lippert 1716 Pin Box that you have, all six bolt holes per side will need to be used which means you would not be able to lower the pin box down to raise the front of the trailer. In order to gain more bedside clearance you will want to raise the 5th wheel hitch up. If you are maxed out now then you might consider the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch which is one of the tallest 5th wheel hitches we offer at 21-1/2" tall....
