Quiet, Secure Ride

The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

B&W Companion Bushings

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Built-In Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

Installation of the B&W Companion OEM Slider

To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you some additional cab clearance.

To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.

B&W Companion OEM Ram Feet

Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.

The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Video Transcript for B and W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch with Slider Installation - 2017 GMC Sierra 3500

Today on our 2017 GMC Sierra 3500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the B&W Companion OEM Fifth Wheel with Slider for Chevy and GMC Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3770. Here's what our fifth wheel with slider looks like when it's fully installed. And since we have a short-bed truck, it's going to allow us to tow a fifth-wheel trailer. And have enough clearance to make those turns, without having to worry about making contact with our cab. If we come to the handle right here, start in the lock position, and we can rotate it to the unlock position. Then we're going to have 12 inches of travel so the fifth wheel can go farther back towards the tailgate. We can make our turn, and then once we straighten out, we can again come to the handle, unlock it, and it'll slide back into the towing position. Now this fifth wheel slider is designed to work with the GM and Chevrolet factory prep package, and that's what these handles here are. It's just going to sit in and lock into place.

Our fifth wheel head is going to feature a dual draw system. So it's going to have a full 360 degree kingpin contact, which is going to reduce some of that noise we hear when we're going down the road. Underneath our head here, where it mounts to our base, we're going to have two large polyurethane bushings. Which not only are going to give us a secure place that our head's going to mount to, it's also going to provide a little bit of cushion and cut down on some of that noise and rattling when we're driving down the road. Our handle is going to feature a tethered safety pin, so we don't have to worry about losing it. And when we're ready to hook up, we can simply rotate the handle back, and there's actually a small notch back here that we can put our safety pin in that'll leave our fifth wheel open so we can get ready to hook up. Once we do bring our trailer in and the kingpin makes contact, it's going to push. And then we can rotate our handle back, and then again making sure it's secure with the pin and clip.

We do have three height adjustments. It's going to be a little hard to see in this particular position, but these arms here are bolted to the inside of our base. Now they're going to go at the lowest setting, the 17 inches. The middle setting is going to be right around 18 inches, and then the highest setting is going to be 19 inches. Our hitch is going to feature a 5,000 pound vertical load limit, along with a 20,000 pound gross trailer weight limit. Now I do want to mention, you always want to double check your vehicles owner's manual to make sure it can handle pulling that amount of weight.

And you always want to go with the lowest setting of your entire towing system. Now our hitch is going to feature a steel construction with a nice gray powder coat finish. Which is going to set it apart from most others, because most others are going to have a black finish on it. Although our fifth wheel is rather heavy since it does use the factory prep package. If you have an extra set of hands you can pull the head off, pull a couple of pins, rotate some handles, and then lift the base out. And you'll have full-bed access in just a few minutes. Now that we've gone over some of the features and benefits of our hitch, let's show you how we get it installed.

To begin installation, we're going to come to the bottom of our base here. We're going to pull the pin and clips out, and we're going to rotate the handles so they're facing outward. We're going to need to do that on all four points around the base of our hitch. We're going to take our base, and we're going to set it into the puck system in our truck. Once we have our base securely in the puck system in our bed, we're going to take the handles and rotate them into the locked position. Once we have our levers adjusted, we can go ahead and re-secure them with the pin and clips. With the base mounted now we're going in and mount the arms, so we can put the head on top. We're going to have different positions that we're going to be able to mount the head, and in our application we're going to be using the lowest setting. Now we can take our arm, and again in our application because it's a short-bed truck, we're going to take the straight part of the arm here, and that's going to be going toward the tailgate so that it sits farther back, giving us that much more clearance before our trailer hits our cab. So at the lowest setting, we're going to take this bottom hole on our mount here, and we're going to line it up with the very bottom hole on our base here. And the way we're going to attach these, I'm going to take a half-inch bolt and a half-inch lock washer, and we're going to line up holes. We're going to secure them into place in all four of those holes, and we're going to have four per side. We're going to get the other side in as well. Once we have all of our hardware in place, come back using a three-quarter inch socket, I'm going to snug it all up. Again using a three-quarter inch socket, I'm going to come back, and I'm going to torque all my hardware down. And you're going to get that torque value from our instructions. We're going to repeat that for all of our hardware. We're almost ready to put the head on our fifth wheel, but we have a few minor things we need to finish up. We're going to have a spring clip, and if we notice one end is going to have a small ear that comes off the loop. We're going to line up the hole in our clip with the tab that has it coming off of the loop. And then we're going to take our quarter-inch bolt. It's a very short bolt. We're going to go through the bracket and the spring. Then we're going to secure it with a lock nut on the back side. Now I'm going to take two 7/16" wrenches and tighten it up just so it's a little snug. You don't want to crank it down right now, because we're going to have to mount the spring clip to our arm. So you can take two 7/16" wrenches, one to hold the bolt, and then one just to snug up the nut on the back side. The metal clip we're going to see, has a slight section, and that's going to mount to our arm here. When we get into position, the top piece of this rubber here, we're going to want to have about a half-inch of clearance between the top of our spring here and the bottom of our mount. So once we find a general spot that's about there, you're going to want to push firmly to hold it in place. Now we're going to take either a hammer, a rubber mount or whatever you have, and we're going to need to drive this onto the arm. We're going to take the head now. We're going to want to lift by these handles and get ready to put it in place. So where our handles are, is going to sit right over those rubber pads. If you notice we do have pins in place, so we're going to remove the clips and pull the pins out and let them hang for right now. We're going to do that on both sides. Now if we come back to those handles, we're going to lift up on the handles while pushing down on the head of our fifth wheel. Then we can see that they lock back down, and that's going to keep the head secure. And for secondary securement, that's where the pins and clips are going to come into play. So we can go and reinstall those. One final step, we're going to need to attach our handle. Now we're going to have a tethered pin, we can go ahead and remove the clip holding it in place, and we can pull the pin out. Now we're going to take our handle with the label facing up and the handle towards the back of our tailgate, and we're going to slide it into position. And it's going to automatically line the holes up. Now I mentioned that our safety pin does go in this first hole, so we can go ahead and put it back in place. That way we don't have to worry about getting mixed up and confusing which hole we put our hardware in that's going to attach our handle. We're going to have a couple of hex bolts here. We're going to drop them down through the holes, and then we can come back and take our flange nuts and attach them on the bottom. I'm going to come back and using a 7/32" allen socket and 9/16" wrench, I'm going to snug up my hardware. And that'll finish up our look at the B&W Companion OEM Fifth Wheel Hitch with Slider for GMC and Chevy Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3770 on our 2017 GMC Sierra 3500.

The hitch is great except that it has a tendency to not lock into place when putting it in the rear turning position. Sometimes needs to be slammed into position to get the handle to lock. Its very heavy! Must have two people to move the lower base section. I have a friend that has the Curt hitch and this hitch is much better in my opinion. It pulls a 38' Mobile Suite. 635218

We have only owned two 5th wheel hitches. Our first one was a Reese slider. This one is by far better quality and easier to use. It provides a much quiter tow . The puck system is awesome on our Duramax. I would highly recommend this hitch, well worth the money. 726020

I've been hauling RV fivers for over 40 years, and I think my B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch is only my 4th hitch. Last year I bought a shiny new GMC 2500HD Duramax with the hitch puck systems. To celebrate, I decided to treat myself to a new hitch. WOW! Where has this thing been all my life. Easy to install and remove (provided you have a strong helper). What impresses me the most is how quiet it is in the bed while hauling. Hitching and un-hitching is easy-breezy. I can't recommend this fifth wheel hitch enough! Thanks etrailer! 713927

First of all, I received everything a day earlier than expected. I asked the delivery guys to put it in the back of my truck; so I didn't even have to lift it up. The B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch installed so easily, and believe me I'm no mechanic by any means. I deliver RV's all over the country. The B&W Companion hitch is so easy to use and once hooked up I could hardly tell the trailer was there. Excellent hitch that I would recommend highly. 593585

This is a quality product. It arrived quickly, the instructions were clear and in a very short time i was ready to pull our 5th wheel. We have not had any issues with the product. The fact that it is a two piece hitch sure makes installation/removal a fairly easy job. 585237

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

I've had this for about a year. Only have about 2,000 miles of use with a 13,000 lbs 5th wheel travel trailer. It is still like new. Jaws are tight, no rattles with or without the trailer attached. I use a nylon guide plate, to keep things clean. The only issue is the slider will not unlatch from the locked position with the trailer attached. Unlatch and slides fine when not loaded. Just haven't made the time to talk to B&W about this. The base is a heavy bugger, and fits snug in the receptical. I've lifted it in and out myself, but not a smart idea. Overall I would buy again. For our use, where we need the whole bed the majority of time it is an easy solution. 608616

Youll want to make sure that the slider rails are lubricated. Also keep in mind that if the truck and trailer are at different angles and theres a lot of pressure placed on the sliding mechanism, it can bind.

Pretty easy install. Spend the 5 minutes to take the heat shield and spare tire off. The little rubber "gripper" on the handle pulled off the first pull. Maybe B&W could put a little glue on it . 380980

All though this hitch is not light (which I knew it would be beefy), it was really simple to install. In all it took about 4 hours to assemble and complete. I am not an novice to assembling heavy and intricate machinery. Reading the instructions completely is a must before starting any process. It looks and works great. The puck system makes it easier to install. And removing the 5th wheel when it is not in use just takes removing two keeper pins and lifting on the release handles. It did take longer to receive the hitch after I ordered it (about a eight days). 183013

Great instructions. Easy to install. The video tutorials on product reviews, installation instructions, etc. on etrailer.com have helped me do research and to choose the right product for my needs. This is the second B&W Companion hitch I have used to pull a 16,000lb GVWR 5th wheel trailer. The first was the companion to the turnover ball hitch, and this one is companion to the Ford OEM gooseneck prep system (puck connect). Just finished pulling our trailer home from the RV dealer. Worked great!!!! Lastly, the ordering process, shipment tracking and overall communication with etrailer staff is fantastic. 615173

I own a RAM 3500 with an 8ft bed. The truck came with the B&W gooseneck base. I was hesitant on buying the companion because my previous 5th wheel hitches were installed on ISD. The companion is a great product and very easy instructions and installation. What I like most about the hitch is that the base can be swapped out for a slider if you have a smaller truck bed. Great quality, made in the US and easy installation. Etrailer had the lowest price and customer service was terrific. 343171

Installation was very easy! The instructions are easy to read and understand also. Everything about this hitch is top quality heavy duty materials. I do not see anything “cheap” about it. I am very impressed. Thank you B&W for making a top quality removable 5th wheel hitch! And thank you etrailer for being so professional and easy to work with! Oh, the over night shipping is the best! 673369

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

I recently purchased a Curt A20 for GM Puck System and had a lot of noise issues from the hitch when starting and stopping. Curt claimed the spacing designed into the jaw system could make the noise or the factory brake controller is not programmed correctly to the weight of my trailer which is making the trailer to slam forward and then reverse. Curt also asked me to lock out my pin box (Rotaflex) to stop the potential over travel of the hitch head. I did lock out my pin box and it still made noise. Curt did send me a replacement head with no issues, but it unfortunately did not change the issue. At that point they told me there was nothing they could do if the hitch was within spec. It is performing to their design specifications. So....because I was not happy with the product, I decided to called etrailer and ordered a B&W Companion for the GM Puck system. They were extremely helpful with the order and it arrived very fast. I put it in the truck and connected the rv. Guess what no noise, no slamming. B&W did a great job in the design of this hitch to vertically eliminate any noises. I am so impressed with how quiet this hitch is that I should have strongly considered the B&W hitch in the first place. The price difference was difficult for me to justify initially, but now that I have had the two different hitches, it is more than worth the additional money. Overall, Curt tried to help me address the concern and makes good products. I believe the hitch would serve the purpose, but comparing it to the B&W, the B&W is definitely the best hitch I have experienced overall so far and etrailer is the place to get it from. 392973

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

Overall quality of the product is excellent, very easy to hitch and unhitch. A couple of minor issues that would seem to be easy to correct, and would be consistent with such a high quality unit: The instructions were not too informative about how to attache the product arms to the base: it is quite awkward, even with two people. After completion, it would have been much easier to invert the base on a stand, and attach the arms 'upside down'. Having this in the instructions would have saved a lot of time and effort. The little spring clip that keeps the hitch head at a slight angle towards the trailer looks like an after thought, and here again, the instructions were weak. It indicates that the clip should be tapped on with a hammer, but this is, in fact, quite difficult to do. A better attachment system is called for, the only weak item on the entire hitch. 455680

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

Well built, straight forward assembly and installation for the Ford puck system. I put an after market rubber mat I and cut 5 holes in it for the mounts in the truck bed. The plates have enough stand off to more than allow for the thickness of the mat. I do wish the frame had 4 lifting eyes build in, I can use a hoist to get it into place in the pickup bead. Are the bolts on the slider frame long enough to allow for adding a plate to them? I'd hate to mess up the finish on the hitch 639324

The product has arrived as advertised. Easy to assemble with great instructions. Mounted it into a 2017 F350. Only minor adjustments needed to the castle nuts to get the right tension on the locking mechanisms. Tried the 1st pull with it day with excellent results. I am pulling a 2013 Montana 38 foot 5th wheel with a GVWR of 18,500. 518495

--------------This is a very strong hitch with an innovative mount.-------------------- I have been using the hitch for about a year now. I purchased the combo kit with the gooseneck in bed parts as well as the 5th wheel assembly. I purchased this unit because it can provide both the gooseneck and 5th wheel modes. I installed mine in a 2014 RAM 3500 DRW which already has the basic structure under the bed so the install went very well. I completed the install at home, which took about 4-5 hours. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, plus there are several installation demonstration videos online for my exact truck, so after watching those it was no problem. The 5th wheel works well with no squeaks or rattles. I pull a 35' 13,500lb toy hauler. The hitch parts are made of thick heavy steel which really gives confidence it will pull the heavy loads. The king pin jaws also seem a bit larger and more heavy duty than other hitches with the same ratings. The hitch also has a lot of adjustments both up and down, and for and aft, which helped to dial in the hitch very well to my trailer. It does convert from 5th wheel to gooseneck easy enough. Just remember it does require a socket to relieve the tension on the gooseneck adapter before it can be released. This is not a big deal, just makes sure to bring a wrench along if you are planning to swap modes while away from home. There is only one small aspect that keeps me from rating the hitch as excellent. I have noticed that the paint/coating scrapped of rather easily in the mouth of the coupler. I guess I rubbed the side of the mouth with the trailer pin when coupling up and it caused the paint to scrape off. Since then the coating is also starting to peel all around the jaw area. 264228

5 Stars - Ease of Installation 2 Stars - Quality of material 2 Stars - Durability in operation 4 Stars - Quietness in operation 2 Stars - Packaging to prevent damage **Could not see until installed and looking at the the hitch from the tailgate, the right side of the receiver plate was bent down. I was in a bind and had to use the hitch so chances of returning are nil. It was fairly quiet especially on interstate driving. The high point where the hitch bends down put stress on the "good" side scraping off the paint. I do not have to move my RV for a few months, so I will probably scrap the B&W hitch and purchase the Reese Hitch 27.5 which I saw today at my local Ford Dealership. It looks more durable and stronger than the BWRVK3300. Give 5 Stars to etrailer.com, this was a smooth transaction; shipping was great and received on time. 497564

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

Just started 5th wheel camping and wanted a hitch that when removed left my truck box bare. I also talked to alot of people who talked about clunking and noise from their hitch while towing. I bought a 2013 32' Coachman which is pushing my 2009 F150 to its max. When pulling with this hitch it feels like the truck and trailer are one unit. No noise and no slop between the two units. I made a lifting pin that goes into the jaws and lifts it out with a comealong hooked to a rafter support in my garage. I then put it onto a wheel cart I made. No heavy lifting and one person can do it all. I've had one teflon foot fall of the hitch and the service was amazing no questions, no pictures, and no waiting. New piece was sent right away. Anyone who tows now and has looked at the hit are very impressed. I would definitly recomend this hitch to everyone. 592596

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

Received my B*W Companion 3600 hitch today through UPS, it arrived in three boxes, one box had the base unit for my 2018 Ram 3500 puck system, one box had the two side pivot arms and the bolt kit package for the coupler head unit and the third box contained the coupler head unit. All the boxes arrived in good condition, many of the reviews that I read said the boxes were destroyed upon arrival and I was relieved that the hitch and boxes arrived in perfect condition. After watching a Youtube video from Big Truck Big RV "JD" (on the companion hitch) who is a partner of etrailer I decided to purchase from etrailer vs other suppliers due to the reviews and video that etrailer is the best to buy from and they are available to answer and assist if needed. It took me about 30 to 40 minutes to unbox, assemble and install the hitch, very easy to do. I mounted the side pivot arms directly center over the rear axle and at its lowest setting 17". This companion hitch is replacing a Demco slider hitch that I Purchased in Feb of 2019 (totally dissapointed in the Demco from day one hence already replaced). I have not towed with the companion hitch yet as it arrived today, I will update my review once I have some time on the hitch pulling my 38' triple axle 18,000lb 5er, I have a upcoming trip and looking forward to testing the companion hitch. So far I am impressed with the quality and it looks great too, the paint on the hitch appears to be very good quality and there are no bare spots, all the welds look of high quality. Sa far I give it 5 stars. 679455

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

I purchased this hitch to connect to the Chevy factory prepped 5th Wheel kit for a new 2017 Chev Silverado 3500 dually. My previous truck/ hitch combo (2015 Chev Silverado 3500 single axle 6.5’ bed w/ Reese Pro Series) used industry standard rails and there was quite a bit of movement in the entire hitch assembly and king pin area resulting in significant chucking on the horrible So. Cal. freeways. The B&W hitch was one of two recommended by the professionals at etrailer. I could not be happier. The hook-up is very easy & the overall operation of the hitch is much easier & simpler than my previous hitch. The 1” thick jaw makes a secure connection to the kingpin and the overall ride has smoothed out significantly. Great product so well liked that my son found a used one for sale and snapped it up for his rig. 504905

Great Fifth Wheel Hitch. Came with a sharp edge that obviously occurred at the factory however, I filed off and re painted. Other than that, I'm totally satisfied and would recommend this hitch to all. A "No Brainer". B & W is simply the best. 573981

We just recently ordered B&W Hitch for our 2017 F350 Dually Long Bed. The process was very smooth. We ordered the Hitch, and we received it within 2 days. It was well packaged and would recommend the hitch. We have not towed with it as of yet, but I can tell its already going to be better than my old Curt Q16 Hitch, Hands Down. Thanks for making this process smooth and Customer Service was great with answering all my questions. Only recommendations to make the install go smoother would be to include the Hex Head Bolt wrench to tighten the handle. 349443

My first fifth wheel and hitch so I've not experienced the bad. I'm no dummy when it comes to fabrication and welding - this puppy is a thing of beauty! Not recommended for frail old men humping it in and out, lol. I've used it a few times now and backed my wheeler up and into spots where it didn't belong, this unit didn't flinch. Zero noise back there and a breeze to load/offload from any angle and direction. Glad I did my homework. I like how I can lock the base with a simple padlock, just need to figure out a simple way to lock the upper on. Thanks etrailer! 574125

Purchased this per recommendation from Jared. This thing was a direct bolt in for my truck as he said it would be. Took me less than an hour to assemble and install. Great Hitch, secure latching and quiet on the road. (No Chucking, unlike the bolt on hitch in my last truck). It is relatively easy to remove and re-install - I'm 67! I have a small problem Unhitching when there is any pressure between vehicles, the jaws will not let loose unless holding the release lever open as I pull away. Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

New to 5th wheeling and already I am the envy of all my 5th wheeling friends. It is a custom hitch for my 2015 Ram3500. My truck was purchased factory prepped for the custom hitch. Besides the initial setup, 10 minutes gets the hitch in or out. The head detaches but the base is still heavy and awkward for 1 to handle. I have done the procedure by myself without assistance a few times so far. Built myself a table on wheels that I can roll up to the back of my truck and set the hitch on. I use plywood on the truck bed to slide the hitch on once out of the truck bed anchors. The lower shelve has room for my genset along with other items. The hook up procedure is an ease as the hitch pivots both ways. 316545

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

Purchased the BWRVK3600 Fifth Wheel Hitch a couple of weeks ago. This is a great product that arrived on time as stated. Assembly Instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I took my time but the whole assembly process only took about a half hour. I installed the assembled hitch into a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500, that has the factory prep towing package. The base sat into the puck style system with no trouble. Just some minor adjustments to the latches to get them to fit snugly as per the instructions. I used it to tow my new 40 ft. tow hauler home a week ago. Hooking up was so easy it slid right into the locking jaws with ease. In fact it went so smooth that I started to skid the RV on its landing gear. This fifth wheel hitch preformed beautifully during the tow. Taking off and stopping went very smoothly with no jerking motion. Backing into the RV site and unhooking was also very easy even having to jack knife the trailer into the site in uneven ground. As soon as I released the locking lever, released the parking brake, and put the transmission in neutral, the truck just rolled ahead with ease. I am really impressed with the whole process of assembly, installation, and operation of this fifth wheel hitch. It is a little heavy, but it is built that way for a purpose, the quality of workmanship is top notch. I look forward to years of service out of this fifth wheel hitch.Being made in America is the big plus. Thank you to B & W for a great product. 194163

I installed this on a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4 Crew Cab today. Very easy to assemble. Had to make a slight adjustment to one of the pivot bases. Tight fit in the puck system which is not a bad thing. Product is of very good quality, super strong and made in the USA. High quality power coating on hitch. I highly recommend this hitch. Great price, and fast delivery. 242449

Review from a similar B and W Companion in Fifth Wheel

I owned another brand of hitch for many years and always thought it was OK. When I bought our new 2015 Ram 3500, I ordered it with the 5th wheel prep kit - which meant it had the pucks for the hitch. After do some Internet research I decided on the B&W Companion hitch. All I can say is WOW! Now this is a HITCH. The hitch head separates from the base for easy storage. The head is not that heavy but the base is a beast. Here's what I love about this hitch: 1. The fit and finish on the hitch is great - the welds are excellent, the paint finish is great, it's obvious when you see this hitch that it is well built. 2. The hitch head is easy to remove. 3. The hitch head has a grease zirk for lubing. 4. The hitch has double locking jaws that give a great secure fit around the king pin. 5. The hitch is quiet - I mean really quiet. It might get noisy after a few years of use but right now it's extremely quiet. 6. The base is easy to install into the truck bed pucks. The instructions included helped me to adjust one of the puck locking pins easily. 7. The hitch is easy to adjust fore/aft and up/down. Not all hitches will allow you to adjust the fore/aft position of the hitch head. This is really a great feature. All in all a great hitch. Perhaps overkill for a 12,000 pound trailer but I like overkill in things like this. Highly recommend the hitch. 295768

Assembled and installed the B&W 25k hitch and it looks amazing! Haven’t towed with it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing as B&W always makes great hitches! One thing I wished B&W would annotate in their assembly instructions is the torque specs of the arm bolts, but that was easy to find online. On my 2018 F-350 long bed DRW I installed the arms to the max height at 18” and forward of the axle 3”. With that set up I’ll have to hook up and see if the fiver sits level and will clear the bed rails. I do like the ease of the lock jaw handle as it opens and closes with ease and the entire assembly and disassembly is pretty easy and quick, rather than my old previous Husky 26.5k sliding hitch that was outfitted for my previous 2014 F-250 SRW 6.5’ bed. 555050

  • The Curt A Series of fifth wheel hitches will work with the style of pin box that you will have, but the Q Series will not. One of the reasons for the release of the A Series was so that they had a hitch compatible with the Sidewinder styles of pin boxes. Aside from that you are in an interesting situation as the GM factory fifth wheel rail kits are different from between the short and long bed trucks. Why that's important for you is that since you are using a pivoting pin box you don't...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed w/Factory Prep Package
  • In order to use a Demco HiJacker auto-sliding 5th wheel trailer hitch with your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 short bed and factory prep package you will need to use an adapter, # DM6194, because the hitches don't fit directly. With the adapter you can then use # DM8550034 as the proper version of the hitch for the adapter. Another option is to use B&W hitch # BWRVK3770 which fits directly in the GMC factory prep package without the need for an adapter. It is not an auto-sliding hitch though....

  • Which B&W Companion Hitches Fit a 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 with Factory Prep Package
  • Are you certain that it is a Patriot hitch and not a Companion? I ask because there isn't a Patriot version that fits the factory puck system in any of the trucks that have that option (Ford, GM, Ram, or Nissan). If the hitch is # BWRVK3700 then it is a Companion model. If your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 is a long bed then yes, Companion hitch # BWRVK3700 does indeed fit the factory prep package in your new truck. If your truck is a short bed you would either need Companion slider...

  • Best 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed with Factory Pucks
  • For your 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the short bed and factory rail kit I highly recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3770. The Companion line is considered by many to be the best hitches on the market and this particular model is designed to drop right into the factory pucks on your Silverado. It also features a built-in slider that will provide you with 12 inches of front to back travel for making tight turns. It has 1 inch thick dual jaws for an excellent...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Short Bed with Factory Rail Kit
  • For your 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 short bed that has the factory rail kit we have a great solution, but the Reese hitch you mentioned will not fit as it would only fit the Ford factory rail kits or the Reese Elite rail kits. What you would want is the B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3770. This fits your rail kit directly and has a slider built into it which allows you the turning clearance you'd need. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • B&W Companion Hitch for 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with Factory Puck System
  • If your 5th wheel trailer is equipped with a Sidewinder pivoting pin box then you do not need to use a sliding type hitch, even though you have a short-bed truck, although you still could so long as you kept it locked in the forward position. Since you have the factory 5th wheel prep kit in your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 short-bed you absolutely can use the excellent B&W fixed-type Companion hitch # BWRVK3700. This drops right into your factory pucks, no adapter needed. B&W makes...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 Short Bed with Factory Prep Package
  • For a 5th wheel trailer hitch that will fit directly in the 5th wheel prep package on your 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 short bed I recommend B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K Item # BWRVK3770. I have linked a video review of this hitch for you. This hitch is the only slider that will fit directly, without the aid of an adapter, but if you want more capacity you can use the Curt adapter, # C16023, with the 24K slider hitch # C16546.

  • Should B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch be Cut to Install with Tool Box in 2019 GMC Sierra 2500
  • To be blunt you should definitely not alter the installation in any way of the Turnoverball Install Rails # BWGNRK1016-5W or the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W, or the Companion # BWRVK3770 if you have the OEM pucks in your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed. There may be one option for you since you mentioned 18 inches wide and that is the UWS Truck Bed Toolbox - 5th Wheel Series Chest # UWS01042 (Bright Aluminum) or # UWS01066 (Gloss Black). This box measures 58" long x 18" wide...
