The one-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less noisy rattling and stiff chucking as well.

The jaw is also always ready to receive, so you don't need to use the handle to open it before backing up toward your trailer. As long as the bail pin is removed from the latching handle, the jaw will accept the king pin as it enters the hitch.

Finally, the jaw is self-latching, so it will automatically secure your trailer's king pin when it moves into the jaw.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Pivot Bushings

In addition to the tight jaw tolerance, a close connection between the head and the pivot bushings further reduces rattle and movement. And because the pivot bushings are independent from the head, they can be tightened to ensure a strong connection over time.

King Pin Indicator Prevents High Pinning

King Pin Indicator

This M5 hitch features a built-in king pin indicator to ensure proper hookup. This indicator is located on the back of the head along with a V-shaped notch that are both visible from the cab of your truck. The V-notch is lined up with the jaw at the front of the hitch, and can be used as a guiding point to line the king pin up with the jaw as you back up your truck. The jaw also has an internal plate that keeps the king pin from entering if it is too high to enter safely. As a result, the king pin indicator will only change from red to green if the king pin is fully engaged in the jaw.

2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty

We are so very pleased with our 27K hitch! The order process was easy and delivery was very fast. We have used a Reese hitch for years now. We just upgraded our fifth wheel RV and it wieghs in at 16K our old hitch was an 18K hitch so we were within 2K of max weight. We felt that that was too close so we went big, it feels (pulls) better and I feel more safe knowing that we have plenty of hitch. Thank you for such great products.

This would be a three but etrailer's customer service is excellent. Everyone I've dealt with has been exceptional.

Reese needs to get their act together. Three month backorder (okay COVID-19 has everyone backed up). Finally get the order and the release handle grip is destroyed, just crumbled almost like it was cooked. I have to adjust the pucks, which is expected, but Reese installed the Carter pins, which are a [beast] to remove in order to adjust the puck, suggestion Reese just leave them out for the installer to install. The the final [blow] from Reese on top of their otherwise great paint job, the bolt holes for the assembly are filled with paint, Reese howabout running a thread chase through these threads so the installer doesn't risk cross threading the bolt, it's just the small things that would make an otherwise outstanding hitch better.

2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I want my B&W back. Not happy at all with this, and etrailer customer service was just as bad. The locking indicator was broke when it came out of the box. I contacted etrailer, they said they would contact the manufacturer, well 10 days later still haven't heard back. Also the locking mechanism has a bolt that goes through into the ouck system. That bolt has 1 side flat, to allow for posistive placement, well reese decided it would be fun to install this 90 degrees the wrong way, and not align the flat side of the bolt up with the notch in the handle. So now to to remove it, the threads will be trashed, and or the positive placement will slip some, if I just twist it to align. Horrible Q and A on Reese's part, and horrible customer service on etrailers part, oh and I am a reseller for etrailer, so I look bad as well.

Great hitch! Went together as per the instructions, pulls our 20,000 lbs 5th wheel great. Love the positive "Green" when the pin is in place as well as the wrap around jaw, real selling points for me.

No complaints at all. This hitch has been solid for us over 36,000 miles of towing our Grand design Solitude Fifth wheel. My wife has no problems working this hitch either which is a bonus when hitching and unhitching.

The GOOD: Very solid hitch, well designed and easy in and out of truck bed.
The BAD: plastic indicator is useless, pops out all the time, Engineering failure #1. If you have to hitch hard, it will knock it out of alignment and the handle will NOT latch or unlatch properly, needs heavier center pin in jaw.
Keep lots of Grease on the talon and pin to help the latching action smooth.
Good hitch just needs a little tweaking.

Hitch is still going strong, and have had no problems since the initial break in period. Hitch indicator has fallen out and the talon is still misaligned so I cant use a nylon plate so I get Grease everywhere. Overall a good solid Hitch. None of the crazy configurations you see out there, just a beefy Hitch that works.

Great Porduct. I own and use my 2021 Dutchman Voltage 4195 full time. I wanted a hitch that was durable and easy to use. This Reese M5 Single Jaw rated at 27,000 lbs did the trick. It is mounted in a 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty. My trailer weights right around 19,000lbs when loaded. The single jaw makes a solid and stable connection. Not sure I would buy anything else after using this product. Thank you e-trailer for the great customer service on selecting the correct hitch for my set up.

2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Hitch assembly was fairly straightforward, took less than an hour. Did have to purchase a torque wrench since the one I had only went to 150 ft lbs. Figured I'd purchase it so I could keep it in the truck to make any adjustments, if required, and check that bolts remain torqued to xxx ft lbs over time. Had to make two small adjustments when I put it in the puck system, which was easy to do. The red/green indicator had popped out of the head unit. I figured out that it just needed to be popped back in to position. Haven't towed with it yet so I can't comment on that at this time. Hitch is beefy and I doubt will not be a problem handling our 5th wheel. So far I'm very pleased with this purchase.

2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I had the original Reese hitch that came with my dually 3 yrs ago. But I sold it new last year. Mistake. So I decided to rebuy the same unit i once had. Easy to install and happy so far with it.


After using it twice, now the release lever gets stuck in the close position. Now is harder to get it to lock into place.

It sounds like a lubrication issue with the jaws. I recommend to take a look at the image in the expert answer I linked, specifically the second diagram of the head.

Very easy to assemble and attach.


Instillation was straightforward, and hitching is very easy. Only recommendation I have is to add in the instructions to re-adjust the mounting nuts after about 1k miles towing as mine settled in and I was hearing a clank when stopping. Just had to tighten 3 nuts 1 key more!

2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I can't give a fair review as we've not installed it yet but after watching YouTube videos and reading reviews this is what we choose. I also called and asked questions before I ordered.

Now as far as etrailer goes, I'd give it 5 stars as we've ordered before in the past and never had any major issues. This 5th wheel arrived in great shape and even if didn't, it would be the shipper not etrailer.

Once we have it installed and have used it, I'll post an updated rating.

Very easy to install. Smaller than most hitches in this class but very strong


I had always been a BIG B&W fan, but having heard about this hitch and it being cheaper, with a higher rating.... I decided to give it a try. Im really glad I did, as it takes up far less space in the bed than my old B&W did.

I did have an issue where one leg's welded, threaded insert was cock-eyed and the bolt didnt thread in.
etrailer, being the wonderful specialists they are, sent me a new leg kit ASAP.

My only issue thus far with the hitch is the rubber handle grip cracked and split, after sitting in my shop all winter in the cold. Not sure if thats normal, but it doesnt bother me enough that I remember it even 5 mins after using the hitch.

2020 Ford F-450 Super Duty

it went together well and connects way better than my old hitch nice and solid no chucking while traveling, the red / green indicator is a cheap piece of plastic that doesn't work on mine reads green all the time, unhooks easy from trailer

I did not receive instructions with unit. Bolt holes in legs where center section attaches had too much paint in them, making it very difficult to get bolt threaded.

If ever you are missing physical installation instructions, we recommend contacting our customer service department and they will be able to email you a copy.

2022 Ford F-450 Super Duty

As other reviews have pointed out, Reese didn't run a chaser through the threads as they're all gummed up with the paint/powder coat. Real pain to clean them out as a tap that large isn't usually in most people's tool box. I had to adjust one of the castle nuts requiring that the cotter pin be removed which took about 30 mins of banging on it. I've never experienced a cotter pin that hard to remove. I would have preferred that they not install the pins at the factory. For these reasons they lose a star in this review. The hitch is robust and once installed there is no slack or chatter once engaged in the Ford Puck system. The actuation of the handle/jaw is smooth. The handle will fit under a Super Duty F-450 tonneau cover as long as you pivot the head to the left to lower it.


Easy install and handles the big loads with ease. Great product!


I found the hitch ideal for our 5th wheel … easy to install in truck bed & easy to use. Especially like the safety features & simple indicator as to locked. What especially has stood out has been the responsive service & follow through by etrailer employees.
