Pro Series Fifth Wheel 4-Way Pivoting Head with Rounded Slide-Bar System

4-Way-Pivoting Head with Rounded-Slide-Bar System

This fifth-wheel trailer hitch features a 4-way-pivoting head to provide a full range of motion for easy trailer hookup. The fifth wheel can be easily removed by one person - simply remove two pins and two clips.

The fifth-wheel head securely grabs your trailer king pin with a rounded-slide-bar, single-jaw mechanism. The slide bar offers excellent load management and a smooth ride.

The rounded slide bar is operated by a 3/4" diameter handle with a cushioned grip that makes slide-bar operation more comfortable. The bar handle includes an integrated tab that is lockable with a padlock. Using a padlock secures your trailer to the hitch. Fifth-wheel pull-pin lock plates (RP58093; sold separately) can be used to secure the hitch to the truck.

Pro Series Square Tube Slider profileTurning with and without Pro Series Slider

Square-Tube Slider

This fifth-wheel trailer hitch includes a square-tube slider that offers 10" of travel in your truck bed. This enables your vehicle to make normal turns during low-speed maneuvers and in narrow spaces without fear of your trailer's contacting the cab of your vehicle.

The slider increases the space between the cab and the trailer to allow for greater turning clearance, moving the hitch and trailer king pin 10" closer to the tailgate of your truck. For highway towing, the slider locks the fifth-wheel hitch in place between your truck cab and the rear axle.

To activate slider: Stop truck and trailer. From the side of the truck, unlock the hitch from the towing position by pulling the handle. From inside the cab of the truck, manually activate the trailer brakes with the brake controller and slowly pull the truck forward until the slider locks into place closer to the tailgate. Make sure that the slider is locked, then maneuver your rig.

This was so easy to install took no time. I never even got the kit for my pickup and all the holes lined right up with the holes that where there from a previous owner. Seems like a great product now I have to buy a camper to try the slider out. Thanks for the fast response time to my need and wonderful info. 607394

New hitch works very well. I had purchased the same design used about 8 years ago, and it was pretty worn out. New unit slides well and does not jam-up. Nothing lasts for ever but this is a very good hitch if you have a short bed truck. I did buy it the second time! 716872

The instructions are not very clear for assembling this. There were some extra pins I did not use. Also the main support bracket that the king pin receiver sits on seems to not bolt level but it did not affect the hitching up at all. I tried installing a bed saver bracket but it would not bolt on level with out some drilling so i bagged that option. That being said, I am very happy with this hitch. I installed it in my 2011 ford f250 short bed and the sliding feature is nice. I don't mind getting out of the truck to pull the lever to make it slide. Hopefully I won't need the sliding feature but like many have said, it is a good thing to have if you get into a situation that needs this. The price on this was much cheaper than a side winder pivoting king pin box i was considering. This comes with a complete kit but I would highly recommend getting a truck specific fifth rail kit like I did to make the install that much easier. I will be selling my old rails, the new universal brackets and fifth wheel hitch to offset this purchase price. E trailer thanks again for having great products. 284903

  • Comparing Jaw Types on Fifth-Wheel Trailer Hitches
In regards to fifth-wheel hitches, there are a number of jaw types. A slide bar jaw is found on the less expensive hitches, such as the Pro Series # PS30129. This type of jaw is a secure one for your trailer but you will notice some king pin noise and some chucking as the fit is looser. This design will automatically close around the king pin once it is in place where the double- and single-jaw models will not. The double jaw design is more snug and secure than a slide bar jaw and you...

  • Why Does My Fifth Wheel Hitch Make Loud Banging Noises
What you described is what's referred to as "chucking." It's the loud banging and slamming of either the king pin in the head of the hitch or other parts in the hitch with loose clearances. The best solution is going to be a hitch that has tighter clearances. If you have the Pro Series Hitch part # PS30129 that you referenced the slide bar jaw design is why you are experiencing chucking. This hitch will get the job down at a great price but it won't be a smooth experience. Basically just...

  • What Position Should the Slider Hitch Be In When Hooking Up Fifth Wheel
A fifth wheel slider hitch should be in the tow position (not slid towards the tailgate) when you are hooking up to a fifth wheel. That position is used for general and highway towing. A fifth wheel slider hitch will lock in both positions. I am including a link to a FAQ page on fifth wheel information.

  • Can a 5th Wheel Trailer be Towed with Slider Hitch in Rear Maneuvering Position
The reason it is not advisable to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a slider hitch in it's rear (maneuvering) position is indeed for concern with the trailer's weight distribution. The pin weight of a 5th wheel trailer needs to be centered just forward of the tow vehicle's rear axle. If the trailer were to be towed with the hitch in its rearward position the trailer pin weight would be behind the rear axle and cause the front end of the truck to lift up. This condition is dangerous as it means...
