Is this right For you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:

Yes, if you:

  • Just bought a fifth wheel but also have a gooseneck trailer and want to use the same truck to tow either one
  • Tow a smaller trailer only a couple times a year and need something a little easier on your wallet

No, if you:

  • Have a Sidewinder or Revolution king pin or anything else that would change the pivot point of your trailer
  • Use a pop-in gooseneck ball - you need one that secures with a pin all the way through
This fifth-wheel hitch has a strong single-piece jaw for superior jaw-to-king-pin contact. A 4-way pivoting head and a 9" wide funnel make hookup quick and easy. Offset legs provide excellent stability. Hitch removes for full bed access. 1-800-940-8924 to order Draw-Tite fifth wheel hitch part number 9480-5W or order online at etrailer.com. Full Truck Bed Access

Draw-Tite Hi-Rise Fifth Wheel in Truck Bed

The Hi-Rise fifth-wheel trailer hitch is designed to give you full truck bed access when you're not towing. Because the Hi-Rise installs in an underbed mounting system instead of on above-bed base rails, you can remove the hitch when it's not in use, leaving your truck bed completely open for cargo.

Simple, Stable Installation

Draw Tite Fifth Wheel Stabilizer Strips

The included round post attaches to the Hi-Rise hitch and drops into the underbed mounting system (sold separately). Stabilizer strips on the base of the hitch fit into your truck bed's corrugation to limit movement. The fifth-wheel base has offset legs for improved stability. The longer back legs brace the hitch to ensure that it stays planted in the truck bed, even during emergency braking situations.

Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

Draw Tite Fifth Wheel TopDraw Tite Fifth Wheel Bottom

The single-piece, self-latching jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less rattle and movement as well. And the convenient lock indicator on the hitch handle ensures that hookup is complete and secure before you can lock your trailer to your hitch.

Pivot Action for Simple Hookup

Draw Tite Fifth Wheel Pivot

It's easier than ever to hook your fifth-wheel trailer up to your hitch thanks to the 4-way pivoting head on this fifth-wheel hitch. The 10-degree front-to-back and 4-degree side-to-side movement make hookup easy, even on unlevel ground.

Hitch seems well made.

Shipping
all but tried to destroy the products, the Hi-Rise conversion hitch arrived falling out of the box, scratched and warning stickers scratched into 2 pieces and unreadable. Out of 5 boxes only 1 arrived with out damage. Fortunately I think all the parts in the boxes did make it here.

I installed the Hide-a-Goose under bed kit with no problems, but cannot install the Hi-Rise conversion, the base will not lock into the Hide-a-Goose, Either the round adapter is not long enough to allow the goose neck pin to lock into place or the unit was damaged not allowing it to set down low enough in the bed.

Now have to find time to get in-touch with Draw-Tite Support.

Well after going through all the broken boxes I did have all the hardware, but I did have to call Draw-Tite support and get approval to modify the Hi-Rise so the locking bolt could reach. I also had to find a replacement bolt because the knurling that hold the bolt in was worn down after installing and removing it so many times. Replaced it with a better quality grade 8 bolt and all is well now and I have made about 6-8 trips with out issues.

One year update. So turns out all the hardware was in the boxes. I did have to call Draw-Tite support to get approval to modify the Hi-Rise conversion to allow the locking bolt to pull into place and tighten down. I also had to find a replacement for the splined bolt because the splines wore down taking it in and out so many times trying to get the hitch installed. In the end everything worked out and I have made several trips using the hitch. However the install could have went much faster had I not had to modify the hitch and find a replacement bolt.

I have put together the hitch and installed it this morning. Haven't had the time to try it out yet, but will try to this weekend. Hitch looks great went together fairly easy, installed easy, all parts was delivered on the date it said it would.

I purchased this product as I have call to use, gooseneck, tongue, and 5th wheel hitches on my F350 that came with an installed gooseneck hitch. There was a bit of an issue, one of the boxes was damaged in shipping. The hitch was not damaged, but, some of the mounting hardware was lost out of a whole in the box. I reached out to etrailer, and within a few days I had replacements directly from the manufacturer, no problem. Once I had the hardware in hand, this installed like a dream, just as advertised, adjusted height and ensured all torqued as per instructions in a short amount of time. The hitch tows well, and I can remove it easily and get my full bed back. Very Happy with item, and etrailer!

Comments
After a year of use, still in honeymoon mode. No issues as of yet. I have a Goosebox installed on my personal 5th wheel. I repair RVs for a living and have call to move them around for customers. This adapter works quite nicely. Feel comfortable towing with it. Would by a version with a higher weight range as my gooseneck hitch is rated at 30K to allow me to tow larger rigs, but this one is fine for now. Well worth the money spent.

I don't like the fact that you lock the pin in with the bolts I was under the impression it would be easier to take in-and-out than it actually is.

by:

Overall im happy with it, imho its the better choice when you already have the hide a ball gooseneck hitch in your truck instead of getting a fifth wheel to gooseneck conversion kit that attaches to the pin box of your trailer/camper. It is heavy but to me that just means its built solid. I like that it has 4 way pivoting, i dont think that it very common with fifth wheel hitches. My biggest complaint which really isnt a big deal is that i did have to make a minor modification like some other reviews have said to get the locking pin to slide freely through the shaft that goes down into the ball hole.

by:

I pull a 37' Cougar with four slides like a dream. The two issues I have with this 5th hitch convenience and ease of application. This hitch is used with a goose-neck. The issue is that you cannot pull the ball release and remove the hitch without having weight on it on the hitch. The second issue revolves around hooking up. A dust shield sits immediately under the channel guides. Unless you are at the perfect height, your hitch gets snagged and you have to make several attempts to hook up...otherwise, you cannot lock the receiver.

by:

After a year of use of this hitch I have no complaints. It has performed every time we have towed our camper. Very easy to install and remove as needed. I would only caution anyone that it really does take two people to remove and install the hitch if removed; this is only due to it's weight. I have greased it as per the manufacturers recommendations and check the torque on the bolts every time I go to tow with it. I would recommend this hitch.

by:

After a year, this hitch has held up well. There are no rust spots on the base, even though it's been outside most of the time. The only wear appears where the hitch skids up. The powder coat has held up well. The latch has a very positive feel...

by:

It went together very easily. Called technician and had to make a minor modification to the post.
