Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A20 Two-Piece Interlocking JawA20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A20 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - C16180 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt A25 Dual Jaw Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with a 25,000 pound weight capacity. Now this fifth wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This uses high strength, inter-locking and a two jaw system right here, provides a 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact. The jaws will fully wrap around the kingpin to fully minimize any noise. Gives you less rattle, more security than any of the slide bar models. The head on this is a fully articulating head instead of just front to back and side to side like most fifth wheels.

This will actually fully articulate, gives you control couplings and a nice, stable, quiet ride. It will self-align for easy hookup. Also, suppresses any rood shock and reduces the bothersome towing noise. Now, it does have two built in grease zirc fittings. One on each jaw right here in the front, you can see. That gives you easy lubrication of the jaws.

You can just attach your grease gun to that and pump grease into there. Now, this will insure secure towing. It uses a three point color coded lock indicator system. What I'm going to do is swing this around to show you that. It's one if its main features on this hitch. If we swing it around, once we get it all the way around, we should be able to see.

Here's the color coded system. This will give you . What it basically does right now you can see it showing a green circle. What that's telling you is the jaws are fully locked closed, you're ready to tow. If you go to open this, let me just go ahead and pull the pin and clip and then I'm going to pull the handle, and we're opened the dual jaws.

You can see it switched to a yellow triangle. That means the jaws are open, you're ready to couple. It will also show a red octagon, which will mean the jaws are locked open, it's uncoupled. So you do not want to tow. It will self-reset. What's nice about this color coded system, these lock indicators are visible from the cab. The handles, as I showed you, it's just a simple single throw handle operation, helps open the dual jaws, has a pin and clip right here that you can drop in there to keep the handle in the closed position. It will self-reset to the ready to couple position after you couple your trailer. The hole is large enough that when you do close it, you could put a padlock through there if you want. We do sell those separately for added security. Also, you notice this big handle here, if you pull the clip off on this side, you can pull this one pin out, makes head removal really easy. It allows one person to basically take this apart and take it off the tow vehicle. I am going to swing this around. Now it does come with everything shown here on the table. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install and how it operates. Comes with the four pins and clips. When these do drop into the rails on your tow vehicle, you can put these pins and clips in there to hold it into place. It comes with this plastic lube place. The lube plate is nice because you put that on your kingpin and it'll help that kingpin glide smoothly into the hitch during hook up and it'll prevent any messy grease buildup. Also on the side, we bolted these legs to the center cross-member. There is a range. There's about four rows of holes here. It will give you a four inch hitch height adjustment, any where from 13 inches to 17 inches. In hitch height is always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. The reason it gives you a range is because all vehicles are different. You do want to keep your fifth wheel as level as possible when it's being towed with your tow vehicle. It is a very simple installation. It installs on the base rails. Now the base rales and the installation kit . We do sell that separately on our website. What you might want to do is go to the website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle. It will show you what base rails and installation kit are available. This is compatible. It will work with B&W, Curt, Demko, Draw Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley Above that base rails. This hitch is a sturdy steel construction. It has a nice durable carbide powder coat finish to it. A few specks on this. Again, the gross towing weight capacity is 25,000 pounds. Vertical load limit or pin weight capacity, 6,250 pounds. I'd mentioned the range of the hitch height adjustment is 13 inches to 17 inches. Basically, I pull the handle back, you can see the jaws are open. It's showing yellow back here so it's ready to couple. I want to give you an idea here's what a kingpin would look like on your fifth wheel. Basically when your kingpin slides in between the jaws, you can see once it gets far enough, the jaws completely close around it. The handle goes and locks into position here. All you have to do is take your pin, drop it through the holes, clip it right into position, and the handle won't move, and you're all locked in and ready to go. Simple as that. That should do it for the review on the Curt A25 Dual Jaw Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with the 25,000 pound weight capacity.

This fifth wheel is very noisy and a loose connection. I would not recommend it. 740194

Great Hitch. I haven't used it to pull yet but it's heavier and seems more sturdy than the Reese I replaced. I also like the interlocking jaws. Many time hitching with the reese I'd have to use a flashlight to see that the jaws were closed but not any more. I'll update once I pull the camper with it. 738690

I was happy with the transaction with etrailer. The website was very helpful in finding what I needed. The product was received ahead of the committed date. The only problem was with the packaging. Some of the boxes were pretty beat-up and the parts were scratched with the finish damaged. That was a little disappointing. 721445

Took me a month, but I finally got the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch in my truck and took it for nearly 150 mile trip to see how it would work. My wife and I both were amazed at how quiet and the bouncing, snapping, popping and cussing were all gone. This hitch is absolutely amazing. Before, when I just pulled out of my driveway, the old fifth wheel would snap and pop loudly several times. It was so quiet with the Curt A25 (new one), both of us looked at each other and looked back to see if the trailer was moving with us. (It was) Thank you to Curt for building it so well and to all of the people at etrailer that recommended it and ensuring it was all right. 694140

I have pulled a 16,000 lbs 5th wheel over 13,000 miles with this hitch and no issues. It arrived with the package damaged and the handle bent. Etrailer quickly replaced the part. The base will rust if not covered. If you remain hooked up for an over night stay, you will need to lower your jacks to stabilize and prevent rocking do to the hitch’s design. Great product. 691153

I’ve pulled my fifth wheel a little over 10,000 miles and still works great. No problems with any of it.

Had a Pullrite Superglide in my old F350 standard bed but when I upgraded to the 8ft bed of the dually, I went with this hitch. Hitch came in 2 boxes and although the boxes worked banged up a bit, everything was there and fine. It only took about 30 minutes to bolt everything together and install on the rails that were already in the truck. I actually had to take the hitch apart once to adjust the hitch up a little. I wanted it as high as possible in the bed, while still clearing the Roll N Lock retractable bed cover. Looks good, seems solid and well made. Hitch head comes off to make it easier to remove this hitch, but even with the head connected, I am able to move the hitch in the truck (would need to take head off for me to lift the hitch out of the truck). Also installed a BedRug at the same time to clean up the bed. 579604

Arrived in great shape, easy to install. Can't wait to give it a try. Looks well built and easy to use. The release handle is just in a different position than my old 20K Reese so will be a little more of a reach to get to the lock pin. 495638

The hitch is exactly what I was wanting... even though it is heavy, it was easy to assemble and adjust to the truck bed pucks. I will be trying it out in the next week when I hook up to the 5th wheel. 717068

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed: 1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and 2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution. This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting. 638805

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

Please note this review is for receiving and installing the A25 hitch. I will update this review when I have a few trips under my belt on how it performs. First, as others have mentioned, the box that housed the legs was in poor shape and was heavily taped to keep in intact. It even had a hole in one end but the legs were in excellent shape, except for a little scrape paint on the edge of one of the legs. Not a big deal and a little black paint will keep the rust away. The other carton contained the hitch head and support beam. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it had 48 staples. 38 in the top and 5 more on the two long sides. When I removed the staples on the two long flaps each of the inside flaps had 6 staples each. Talk about over kill! A good pair of lineman's pliers is a must for removing 48 staples. Once I was able to open the hitch box, the contents were in excellent condition with no scrapes or blemishes to the painted parts. A word of warning: This hitch is heavy! I've read somewhere this hitch, fully assembled weighs around 170 pounds so beware. Putting it together is simple. Four bolts and two screws for the handle and it's done. The manual explains installation for legs used with rails. My setup was for the GM puck system. The only difference I could see you don't use the lock nuts and there are no guide pins on the support beam. The 14mm bolt heads will take a 13/16 socket/wrench and if you use the lock nuts they take a 22mm wrench/socket. I don't understand why a U. S. made product mixes Metric and English fittings. Summary: This is a heavy product, well built, with easy to understand instructions. Simple installation and adjustments. The only negative (for me anyway) is once you open the jaws, you can't close them with the handle. The only way I see is to push the jaws in as would happen when hitching. Since they are spring loaded they will snap close with authority when engaged. I'm going to use an one inch wooded dowel to close the jaws as I prefer them being closed when not in use. 502000

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

This 5th wheel hitch is AWESOME!!! It was as easy as the video to assemble and install. I put it together in the living room watching to Olympics. It is easy to install in the factory RAM puck system. You should use a buddy, it is a little heavy. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to put together and another 15 minutes to install and torque all the bolts to specs. 479288

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I have always had pretty good luck w Curt products! Product was was as described easy to install. Def heavy duty. Other posts were same, meaning boxes sustained heavy damage, but product inside was in great shape. Few scratches but no gonna change my review. Etrailer did price match so saved me some cash. Haven't pulled with it yet, just moved 40 ft camper around. May update later. 635841

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I received the hitch in 2 boxes, 1 was damaged but the contents were ok. Delivery was on time. Assembly and installation went relatively well, took about an hour. I have not had a chance to tow with it yet. Will update at that point. Unit seems to be solid and well constructed. 585320

We have been living in our 5th wheel full time for about 6 months now and have towed it approx 5000 miles. The hitch has worked well so far, except that about 75 of the time I have to move the truck forward or back to relieve the pressure on the coupling to get it uncoupled. This is not a major issue just inconvenient.

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

Love the hitch it's rated for high strength but isn't overly big and bulky and doesn't take up a ton of room in the truck...it fits into the bed pucks easy and locks down nice and tight with no flex or loosness in the pucks or gaps to create possible vibrations or noise when towing... Thanks Derek for hooking me after being back ordered but getting it to me ahead of schedule after letting you no I had a prescheduled trip within 2 weeks and you had to me with a week...headed out next week looking forward to see how the new truck and hitch set up works... Thank you for all you help... 441469

Pretty straight forward installation. Note the legs are front and back, the cam locks are different sizes front to back. Heavy as heck for and old guy but breaking it down into the 3 component pieces made it manageable . Nice job on the install video. 682516

Review from a similar A25 in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I did a lot of research when looking for a high quality hitch to pull my 13,000 lb fifth wheel camper. I decided on this hitch and couldn't be happier. The hitch looks great and is extremely well constructed. The hitch opens easily, and when closed, locks the camper securely to the truck. I have the puck mounting system built to my truck bed frame, and love how easy it locks into place with almost no effort. If you are looking for a well constructed, easy to use hitch, look no farther...this is your hitch! You will not be disappointed. 800038

Though it says it is for the Q-Series, Curt has confirmed for us that the A25 head unit has the same bolt pattern and that it will fit this slider base. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.

  • Best Way to Adapt A25 to Ford F-250 Prep Package
It is possible to still use the Curt A25 part # C16180 in a 2016 F-250 8 foot bed with a Ford prep package. The Curt A25 is designed to fit industry standard fifth wheel rails with its original legs. You can either switch the legs of the hitch to fit into the factory holes or use a gooseneck to fifth wheel adapter. The best way to adapt the A25 is to switch out the legs. You can switch the legs of the A25 to fit into the factory holes in your bed with part # C16017. The new legs fit...

  • Recommended Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch For Use With Morryde Orbital Pin Box
There are certain Curt hitches that are compatible with the Morryde Orbital pin box. For example the Curt A Series are compatible with a rotating pin box but the Q series Curt hitches are not because there is too much movement in the head. Since the orbital provides 90 degree turning clearance you will need a fixed hitch (not sliding). It looks like you have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500, I recommend to use the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 with the rails part # C16411-204...

  • Recommended Best Value 5th Wheel Hitch For 2020 Ford F-150 8 Ft Bed With Aluminum Body
I recommend to use the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 with the fifth wheel rails part # C16442-204. The Curt rails come with a galvanic isolator kit to keep the aluminum from corroding over time with a steel hitch in the bed. The A25 is the best quality hitch at a decent price because of it's interlocking jaw design which will cut down on the chucking/rattling you may experience with other fifth wheel brands. The A25 provides 25,000 lbs of towing capacity and includes...

  • Comparing the Curt A25 to the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch
The Curt Q25 # C16265 had some issues with the jaws that the company corrected, so you shouldn't have any issues. The A25 # C16180 came on the market with stronger materials and a different jaw design that interlocked and came with a lifetime limited warranty versus the 10 year limited warranty of the Q25. The Q25 has an axial bearing that allows head movement 360 degrees, so it is able to function differently. This is a limiting factor in that a Revolution or Sidewinder pin box is...

  • Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch That is Compatible with Sidewinder
A Curt Q24 fifth wheel hitch such as # C16245 is not compatible with a Sidewinder and should not be used with one. The reason for this is its spherical axial bearings in the hitch head of the Q24; there is far too much movement in the head unit to be safely compatible with a pin box that rotates. This is also the reason there is no a wedge for the Q Series of hitch. The best option is really going to be a new fifth wheel hitch. While I know that is not what you expected, it is the safest...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ram 2500 Short Bed and Turning Point Pin Box
Like a Sidewinder, the Turning Point Pin Box has a rotating turret so the pivot point is no longer at the king pin in the hitch, it is 22 inches rearward; because of this it is strongly recommended that you use a fixed fifth wheel hitch. Using the slider would mean the trailer's weight would be pushed too far behind the axle of your truck as opposed to being over the axle or just forward of it, which can put added stress on the truck, hitch, and trailer. For a hitch I highly recommend...

  • Comparing Goose Box to 5th Wheel Pin Box and Hitch Regarding Articulation and Capacity
The Reese Goose Box # RP94720 has an integrated air back and shock system that will help on rough terrain. It works very much the same as some pin boxes like the Trailair Flex Air- 21,000 lbs # RP94720 . The issue you will find is that your trailer weight given is greater than the pin boxes we carry. The Goose Box is only rated for 20K and our pin boxes max at 21K. For the capacity you are seeking, I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch- 25,000 lbs # C16180 which has a...

  • Recommended Fifth Wheel Brackets and Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2004 Ford F-350 Super Duty Dually
There are custom fifth wheel installation kits that fit your 2004 Ford F-350 dually but the Installation Kit # C16448-104 you referenced does NOT fit; this kit is only for 2005-2011 Ford Super Duty trucks. Instead I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford F250 and F350 # C16443-204, which does fit your F-350, because the custom fit will lessen the amount of drilling and time it takes to install the brackets compared to universal installation kits. If you are...

  • 5th Wheel and Conventional Towing Weight Capacities for 2018 Ram 3500
The 2018 Ram 3500 with Cummins Diesel is dependent on the axle ratio, the cab, and the box length. I've attached the chart to assist with each of these. The number in the parenthesis for each of them is the 5th wheel towing capacity and the other number is for the trailer hitch receiver below the bumper. If you are looking for a trailer hitch receiver, I have linked the page to your options to assist. Assuming you are looking for 5th wheel components, if you have the factory tow...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ford F-250 with and without Factory Puck System
I can absolutely make a 5th wheel hitch recommendation for your potential 2020 Ford F-250, whether you get it with the factory puck system in the bed or not. Starting with my recommendation for the factory puck setup, I really like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16036. This will drop right down into those pucks and it features an interlocking 2-jaw system that will completely wrap around the trailer's king pin. What this does is not only provide an extremely secure connection with...

  • Recommended Curt 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ford F-350 dually?
The Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for Ford - Carbide Finish # C16428-204 is the custom fit for your 2019 Ford F-350 dually to make installation easy. Then for a Curt hitch I recommend the A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16180. This will fit in the rails perfectly and will give you a great king pin connection for less jarring and chucking. I also recommend adding a wiring harness like # 41157 to give you that in bed access connection for a clean look. If...

  • Will 25,000 lb Pro Series 5th Wheel Hitch Have Slight Opening in Jaws
Trailer hitches are going to have different jaws depending on the quality of the hitch, and the Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 25,000 lbs # 30862 has what is considered to be a standard double jaw, which is going to have a slight opening and not wrap completely around the king pin. This is considered an economical or entry-level 5th wheel hitch that is going to have rattling, chucking and jarring when you are towing. When you decide to upgrade you are going to want to go with something...

  • American Made Fifth Wheel Hitch
We carry hitches that were made in America, though the Reese # RP30033 is not. I recommend checking out the Curt A25 # C16180, which is made in the USA, has a 25,000 lb capacity, offers full 360 degree king pin contact, and has an articulating head to make hooking up your trailer an easier process. It fits in standard above-bed base rails also features a handy 3-color indicator system which easily lets you know when you're ready to hook up, tow, or uncouple.

  • Is There a Sidewinder Wedge that Fits Curt Q25 Fifth Wheel Hitch
There isn't a wedge made for the Q Series of Curt hitches as you cannot use Sidewinder pin boxes with them due to the jaw design and head material. This is partially why Curt came out with the A Series like the A25 # C16180 which there is a wedge for with part # C16992.

The Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit part # C16428-204 which is a fit for your 2019 Ford F-250 do not have a weight capacity as that will come from the 5th wheel hitch itself. For example, if you were using the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16140 then you would be limited to 20,000 lb but if you were using the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 you would only be limited to 25,000 lbs assuming the truck is rated for this much weight. You are correct, the Lippert Tri-Glide has since been replaced with the Lippert Trailair Flex Air in favor of a more streamline design with less moving parts. In regards to comparing the Trailair to the MORryde, the Trailair uses an airbag with shock absorber and the MORryde uses a rubber spring. The Trailair will provide a smoother ride and have more adjustments but the MORryde will be a bit more durable. They are both great options for you but it really just depends on preference. With...
