Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A20 Two-Piece Interlocking JawA20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A20 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Purchased the Curt 25 A. 25,000 lb capacity with articulating head. I pull an 18,000 lb 5th wheel camper with a 3500 diesel dually. There is lots of movement when braking and start of pull after a full and normal stop. I would not buy the articulating model again. The product seems to be well built just too much front to rear movement in the head.

Took me a month, but I finally got the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch in my truck and took it for nearly 150 mile trip to see how it would work. My wife and I both were amazed at how quiet and the bouncing, snapping, popping and cussing were all gone. This hitch is absolutely amazing. Before, when I just pulled out of my driveway, the old fifth wheel would snap and pop loudly several times. It was so quiet with the Curt A25 (new one), both of us looked at each other and looked back to see if the trailer was moving with us. (It was) Thank you to Curt for building it so well and to all of the people at etrailer that recommended it and ensuring it was all right.

I have pulled a 16,000 lbs 5th wheel over 13,000 miles with this hitch and no issues. It arrived with the package damaged and the handle bent. Etrailer quickly replaced the part. The base will rust if not covered. If you remain hooked up for an over night stay, you will need to lower your jacks to stabilize and prevent rocking do to the hitch’s design. Great product.

Great Hitch. I haven't used it to pull yet but it's heavier and seems more sturdy than the Reese I replaced. I also like the interlocking jaws. Many time hitching with the reese I'd have to use a flashlight to see that the jaws were closed but not any more. I'll update once I pull the camper with it.

Had a Pullrite Superglide in my old F350 standard bed but when I upgraded to the 8ft bed of the dually, I went with this hitch. Hitch came in 2 boxes and although the boxes worked banged up a bit, everything was there and fine. It only took about 30 minutes to bolt everything together and install on the rails that were already in the truck. I actually had to take the hitch apart once to adjust the hitch up a little. I wanted it as high as possible in the bed, while still clearing the Roll N Lock retractable bed cover. Looks good, seems solid and well made. Hitch head comes off to make it easier to remove this hitch, but even with the head connected, I am able to move the hitch in the truck (would need to take head off for me to lift the hitch out of the truck). Also installed a BedRug at the same time to clean up the bed.

I was happy with the transaction with etrailer. The website was very helpful in finding what I needed. The product was received ahead of the committed date. The only problem was with the packaging. Some of the boxes were pretty beat-up and the parts were scratched with the finish damaged. That was a little disappointing.

It’s held up great. No slack in the kingpin jaws or anywhere else. All the products bought work just the way they were advertised.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

This is my first run-in with a fifth wheel, so I spent a lot of time researching as many of the aspects as I could. I knew I didn't want to mount bed rails, so the truck was outfitted with the factory in-bed mounts. That allowed the use of this hitch. Using this setup allows for a clear bed floor by merely unpinning and swiveling the four locks on the leg's ends, then lifting the whole mess up and away. It arrived in two separate boxes: good thing, it's heavy! Knowing that, the individual pieces were placed in the bed where it could be assembled closer to its landing place. The instructions were very clear, and, before we knew it, we had the mount dropped into place. Connecting to the trailer couldn't be easier. With the lever forward and the yellow dot showing through the status port in front, the truck slides back into place with a satisfying "chunk" as the hitch latches on. Drop the safety pin into the latch, make your connects, give one final tug with the tow vehicle so you know the hitch is properly latched, and off you go! Thanks, etrailer!

Comments
One-year update: weve now put over five thousnad miles on our eleven-thousand pound fiver, and have had zero issues with the hitch. thats with numerous hitch-unhitch cycles, and a few long, steep grades to pull. The hitch works just as well as the day we installed it. The only shortcoming is its shear weight when lifting it out of the bed. Fortunately, the hitch proper lifts out of the spider mount by simply pulling one pin. That way, it can be removed in two pieces. Its still a two-person job, but is manageable. Thanks again, etrailer!

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

Shipping was far quicker than I expected, and the etrailer shipping tracker is really nice. Installation/Assembly was pretty easy, although the Curt instructions could have been better. One tweak to the assembly process - I went ahead and inserted the legs into the pucks, unlocked, and then put the rest of the hitch together. Avoided have to lift the majority of the unit into place. As other people have mentioned, the leg assembly box takes a beating during shipping....not parts damaged. All in all, a happy purchase.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

Superior. My old Reese 16K served me well, but after 10 years of service including the AL-CAN highway, it creaked and moaned when loaded and banged around when not loaded. When I got a new truck that was 5th wheel prepped from the factory I chose the Curt hitch over the Reese, if for no other reason than it displayed first on the search list. I’m glad I did. First of all, the unit arrived in two heavy boxes. The boxes had a few dings, but were in pretty good condition. The contents of each box was packed well with styrofoam. None of the pieces sent to me were bent, broken or scratched. The instructions were pretty straightforward and easy to read. I’m 66 and completed the installation without assistance. I used the formula provided in the instructions to calculate the height of the assembly and the results were pretty much to my satisfaction. I did have to adjust the locking lugs and tighten each castle nut one notch to where there was a little resistance when locking. PROS: it’s solid, no wiggle; the head has a square rubber bumper the fits in the base that keeps the head from bouncing around when unloaded; coupling and locking indicators can easily be see from the cab and provide visual status of the jaws; interlocking double jaws. CONS: none at this time. I’m a happy camper.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I received two packages and one package was damaged BUT no damage to components inside. I put the hitch together and installed it in truck everything was in boxes and there was no damage or scratches on all components. I haven't towed my rig yet BUT I did couple & uncouple it, everything seems smooth and really quiet couldn't even hear when it latched so for very impressed can't wait to tow. I give it a 4 star rating only because I haven't towed yet will be back in touch.

Comments
Update on my hitch. I am very please with this product. its been about a year since I purchase, towed my rig several times and the hitch works great. Coupling and uncoupling is very smooth. the hitch is very compact and takes a lot less room the others I have seen.I give this product a 5 star rating and Im very pleased.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

It arrived on time as you said it would with no damage to the product. Assembled and installed in about a hour. Would of been quicker but had to make some adjustment on one of the pucks. Haven't hooked it to my fifth wheel yet but I upgraded for a 16k to the 24k and but the handle works very easy. I had concern if the hitch would go over my goose neck ball and it does with about a 1" clearance. Very happy with this hitch.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed: 1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and 2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution. This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting.

Review from a similar A25 5th Wheel Hitch in Fifth Wheel Hitch

I really like this hitch. The puck system lined up perfectly with the OEM hitch frame in my 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 truck bed so installation was very easy. I like the jaw position indicator that tells you at a glance from the cab whether the jaws are opened or closed which makes hitching and unhitching straightforward. This hitch is over-rated for my rig by 10,000 lb but that should translate to greater reliability and service life. My only complaint is that there's no facility to securely lock the hitch onto the truck bed to prevent it from being stolen. I solved this problem by running a steel cable through the gooseneck puck opening and around the truck frame and looped the cable through the lower hitch frame and hitch head and secured it with a padlock. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Congrats on the new vehicle purchase! The main differences between the A25 # C16180 and Q25 # C16265 are that the A25 has a fully articulating torsion head and a 2-jaw system that overlaps while the Q25 had a spherical axial bearing for 360 degree head movement and an older 2-jaw system where there is a little space between the jaws. • Highest Rated 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 Without Pucks
The highest rated fifth wheel hitch available for a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 without prep package is the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 which is rated for 25,000 lbs. In order to install the Curt A25 you will need to use the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16429-204. • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ford F-250 with and without Factory Puck System
I can absolutely make a 5th wheel hitch recommendation for your potential 2020 Ford F-250, whether you get it with the factory puck system in the bed or not. Starting with my recommendation for the factory puck setup, I really like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16036. The reason for this is its spherical axial bearings in the hitch head of the Q24; there is far too much movement in the head unit to be safely compatible with a pin box that rotates. This is also the reason there is no a wedge for the Q Series of hitch. The best option is really going to be a new fifth wheel hitch. While I know that is not what you expected, it is the safest...

  • Differences Between Curt A25 C16180 and Q25 C16265 5th Wheel Hitches
The hitch jaws that grip the 5th wheel's king pin and the suspension system (for the lack of a better term) for the hitch head are the main differences between the A25 and the Q25. The A25 like the # C16180 uses an interlocking jaw system that does a better job of holding the king pin tightly, making contact with the king pin all around its 360° circumference. This leads to less rattling and banging which makes for a more comfortable ride. The A25 use a torsion dampening system in the...
