E16 5th Wheel Jaw

Simple, Secure Hookup

With a dual-pivoting head that offers 10 degrees of lateral movement, the E16 fifth-wheel hitch makes hookup a snap, even on unlevel ground. Once the king pin slides into the hitch, the auto-locking, slide-bar jaw secures it in place. A unique feature of the E16 is the rear steel tension bar within the jaw that activates upon hookup to clamp down on the king pin, providing a tighter grip that maximizes security and minimizes rattle.

R16 5th Wheel Roller

Non-Binding R16 Roller

Specially designed for trucks with 6' to 8' beds, this non-binding slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

I've only towed my camper once with my new hitch so far and it worked just fine, when i bought it, it arrived on time and in good shape, the only little problem i had was part of the steel under the release handle wasn't painted so when it rained rusty water came out the handle tube and kind of stained my rubber bed liner, but it was an easy fix. anyway i'm happy with it ! P.S. the vehicle specific frame mount makes the set-up much quicker and eaiser than the universal mount . 305663

The hitch is easy to put together as I have a 2016 2500hd I had to bolt it inn the very top holes to clear my box. There seems to be alot of plat in the king pin lock a clank and clunk starting and stopping. Id buy from etrailer again they are a great company this product was built for what I paid its a middle of the road hitch. I will upgrade at some point 377732

It works I don’t care for the hitch after a year. There is to much slack in the hitch and no adjustment. Don’t like the handle you have to turn just right to disconnect. Wouldn’t buy it again matter of fact gonna switch it out this year as I don’t like it.

Thanks for your follow up Myron. I have confirmed with my contacts at Curt and if you would like you can change out the head unit of your current system and use the # C16520
Replacement Head Unit for Curt A16 and Q16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 16,000 lbs
$402.80
. This head unit offers upgraded features in the coupler head, handle and adjustable height adjustability of the head to the base. If you were to switch out the heads only it would be more cost effective that getting an entire new 5th wheel hitch, and you would be able to utilize your existing underbed install kit, rails, and slider portion of your existing system. However if you would like to consider a different hitch set up, I have provided a link for your reference that includes the 5th wheel hitches that have the same capacity of your exisiting system for reference.

This is a great product and all the parts and hardware arrived in tact. Had a few issues with the under bed mounts due to my truck is the 2017 power wagon and more parts had to be removed to get installed and relocate harnesses. over all installation took a good day even with a mechanics back ground. Also will be installing hellwig air bags to accommodate coil springs. I really liked that etrailer customer service called me to verify my order. After that the package arrived with in a week. Really happy with the parts and etrailer service. 477054

There are three main types of jaw systems used on fifth wheel hitches, a slide bar, dual-jaw and a single wrap-around jaw.Slide bar jaws are found in budget priced fifth wheel hitches. They do a fine job of retaining the king pin, but this design doesnt hold the pin very tightly so there will be some noise and chucking during acceleration and braking as the pin moves around in the hitch. Hitches with this type of jaw are very reasonably priced, but the ride quality youll experience isnt always the best. Dual jaws are a better design found in moderately and premium-priced hitches. This set- up does a better job of holding the king pin and will allow some but not a lot of movement. Higher end hitches like the Reese Titan or the B and W companion use a serrated or partial wrap around jaw that further limit movement. The wrap around jaw such as whats seen in the Reese Elite series holds the king pin very tightly for very minimal movement and a very smooth ride.

Instantiation went well, for 2 70+ year old's. We were able to finish in 3 hrs. We left heat shell in place, little tight but doable. Would be a lot easier if turned around and mounted on inside of frame, you could get at nuts easier. If you wielded nuts on bracket and used hex bolts would be even better. Over all one nice hitch. thank you 862486

First time fifth wheel owners. Overall satisfied with this hitch. We have used the hitch and trailer multiple times in the last year. On one occasion the locking bar did not want to release the kingpin. It is rather loud (play in connection allows clanking noises). I had researched quite a bit before purchasing and still think the value is good. 822214

I am a fairly advanced DIY'er. After watching a few Youtube videos several times I started to install the bed rails. I had to buy a larger torque wrench, a 22mm socket, a 19mm wrench that was open end on one end and a rachet on the other end to tighten top bolts. I spent 6-7 hours to get everything put together and mounted. The large 30 gallon gas tank on my F-150 made the drivers side front rail bolts really challenging to handle. Great quality kit. 735276

  • Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Ford F-150
Yes, since your truck bed is shorter than 8 feet you do need a slider hitch to give you the turning clearance needed to make a sharp turn without having the truck cab hit the nose of the trailer. Since that can be a hassle the solution I recommend is the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide part # DM8550034 as it slides automatically as you make tight turns so you never have to think about it. Then for a rail kit to install the hitch in the bed of your truck I recommend the Demco Custom kit part #...

  • Can a Slider 5th Wheel Hitch Be Used on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 5.8 Foot Bed
I do have an option for you but a manual sliding 5th wheel hitch like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # 16516 will not allow for proper turning clearance between the cab of the truck and loft of the trailer while executing a 90 degree turn on a truck with a bed shorter than 6-1/2' long. In order to obtain sufficient clearance you will need to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch and a rotating pin box. For a fixed 5th wheel hitch I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part #...

Assuming you have the gas engine, for a industry standard 5th wheel bracket/bed rail install kit that won't require drilling into the truck frame I'd recommend the Reese # RP50142-58. A less expensive no-drill option would be the Husky Towing # HT31566-686. • Could Reese Goose Box be Used with 2019 Ford F-250 with Short Bed
The Reese Goose Box solution could possibly work for you but it's going to require the trailer you plan to tow to have a tapered nose to allow the trailer to make tight turns without cab interference and it's going to require the trailer to have a pin box style that we have a Goose Box fit for. Typically for short bed trucks a slider hitch is only way to make tight turns since the noses of campers are pretty wide. But in recent years more trailers are being made to allow for short bed turning...

For your 2017 Ford F-250 4WD with 6-3/4-foot bed you will need a slider-type 5th wheel hitch like the Pro Series # PS30121 or the Curt # 16516 along with a base rail installation kit like # RP50074-58. A slider hitch will give you the clearance you need for making sharp turns. Between the two I suggest the Curt hitch since it offers more slider travel. You can still use the Reese install kit # RP50074-58 since it costs a bit less. For a wiring harness for the truck bed you can use part...
