Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A20 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

R20 Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Non-Binding Design

The round-tube design of this slider allows for relatively uninhibited movement of your fifth-wheel hitch. Because your hitch can glide smoothly and easily along the rods, there is less chance of binding.

With straight, flat contact points, as found with square-tube sliders, tension can build between the slider and the hitch when your truck and trailer are somewhat out of line or are on uneven ground. As a result, it can be difficult to properly activate the slider when your truck and trailer are not in a straight line.

With a round-tube slider, there is more give between the contacting surfaces, allowing better mobility of the hitch system. Fewer corners means less tension buildup. Activating a round-tube slider is easier, and operation as a whole is smoother.

The A20 hitch and R20 slider are outstanding products.
One issue I had was the differing instructions on bolting the two together.
The A20 instructions are for bolting to stationary’leg’ base. The R20 slider instructions are what I used and worked very well.

Comments
This hitch has served us very well. It is a very stable when attaching rig 16K loaded and tows extremely well. We appreciate the colored indicator to ensure we are ‘hitched’ and the slider mechanism is simple and has worked very well.

2008 Dodge 3500 Mega Cab Laramie DRW.
Fit
the rails already in the truck perfect. Easy to assemble. Did 95% of it before I even looked at the instructions. I believe it will work well when I finally get the chance to use it.

I have only installed the hitch and tried it out in my driveway. Have not had he opportunity to use it on the road and see how much it improves my maneuverability. But Curt hitches are very well built units. I only upgraded from my previous one to go to the slider hitch and this hitch appears to work just as well and also appears that the slider is going to give me the added maneuverability that I was looking for. Heavy and not quite as easy to put in and take out of my truck is my only complaint so far.

Comments
The hitch has been working great. No issues.

Everything was fine and was easy to install....that being said, I much prefer my B&W companion!

by:

The R20 Roller and the A20 Slider were both pretty easy to install. Except for the weight (Those Things Are HEAVY) It was a straight forward install. What I like is the Quality of the Curt Products. They are a very high Quality product in my opinion. I plan on the wife and I and our Two Main Coons are planning a cross country trip. So I am very excited to get out on the open Road and see where life takes us. What WAS a bear to install was the Rail Kit. It required lots of trips out from under

by:

The product arrived 1 day earlier than promised. The instructions were decent, they could of been more inclusive of the different setups, the hitch and sliders didn’t reference how to interface with the Ram puck base. The rubber gaskets for the slider base didn’t fit with the Ram base due to their thickness. You need a 100lbs torque wrench(I rented one from Orielys). All the parts were present. The bad may not of been etrailers fault, but the boxes arrived like they were dropped out of an airplane. Amazingly, nothing was damaged.

by:

Like everyone writes. Packaging is light for such 5th wheel heavy metal hitches. just some scuffs but everything was there (incl hardware). R20 roller box fell apart. A20 hitch head box was intact and well packed with styrofoam. Installed same day. Can't wait to camp. I've upgraded from Husky 15k slider to Curt A20 w/ R20 slider. I kept my original Reese rails for my Ram3500 puck system. Everything fit together. Ordering was easy over the phone. Delivery was quick. All nice things to say. Thanks you all around.

by:

Fast delivery and packaging was excellent. Very well protected. Etrailer is a great company to deal with.

by:

The hitch made it okay but the slider box was badly damaged and there is parts missing. Called this morning about it

by:

Hitch is nice and pretty easy to put the pieces together. Only issue I had was that the box with the slider rails was really messed up during shipping causing the position lock cover to be slightly bent. Was able to straighten it out and finish assembly. Would recommend factory review packaging of this item. Other base rail and hitch head packages were in excellent condition when received.

Installed Curt A20 hitch w/slider rails in 2016 Chevrolet Z71 2500

I recently purchased a fifth wheel hitch for my new truck but wasn't sure I ordered the correct one after hitting the "enter" key! I called etrailer the following morning and found out I had, in fact, ordered the wrong hitch. The young man I spoke with was incredibly helpful - he canceled my initial order, explained what I really needed and why and then placed the order. I went on line the next day and found that the order had somehow been cancelled. I then spoke with LEAH G. She is the bomb. She corrected everything and did her best to expedite shipping including personally making certain that MY shipment was on the last truck of the day. What more can I say. Etrailer.com and Leah G are unbelievably awesome from beginning to end! Thank you for a great experience Conrad

Overall a great experience. I love the Curt 20A fifth-wheel hitch. Easy to hook and un-hook my Columbus 320RS. Very quiet ride too. One issue; the hitch arrived in 2 boxes and both were beat up pretty bad. That resulted in some paint damage to the unit which I touched up right away. I highly recommend the hitch and etrailer.com.

Still very satisfied! As full time RVers I hook up frequently. Super easy. And it pulls quietly too.

First off a big thank you to Nichole B. for the excellent customer service. I called on Saturday and explained that I really needed a Curt 5th wheel hitch by the next WednesdayI paid for the 4 day shipping and bam it was here on Wednesday, and with Trailer your never at home wondering the status of your order. They update every move from the time you place your order to the time it is delivered.I leave tomorrow to pick up our new 5th wheel toy hauler(our first 5th wheel) but the hitch was easily installed by myself and seems to be in working order but Ill know more when we hook up the 5th wheel. Thank you Nichole and Etrailer

by:

Very heavy duty hitch. Initially had some concerns so ordered the 20,000 lbs. instead of the 16000. Very good service from the etrailer representatives. Had some concerns on how long the delivery was going to take, however they were able to get it to me in a very short time. Thank you to the individuals who helped with my order. Danny

Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch 2018 Ram 2500 This was not easy choice to make as I tend to try top save money. But with my truck and the puck system this has been an excellent purchase. The removable pin let's me pull the top of the hitch off while leaving the rest in the truck. This allows me to store it in front of the adapter rails. Then my roll up bed cover clears the top while the rest is still mounted. Dry, secure out of site out of mind while shopping or parked at RV park overnight. The slider allows the extra clearance to give you peace of mind you will not damage your truck while backing into tight spaces on a serious angle. Then of course the top comes off with that pin making the entire thing lighter to remove when taking the entire assembly out of the truck. IT is manageable but still better to use the tractor bucket or hoist as it is heavy duty. No issues and very happy with this purchase and the continued great service from etrailer! I pulled a 34 ft 5th wheel 1800 miles at average of 75mph. Did not even know the trailer was back there when the wind was not blowing. Thanks again for helping me put this package together and having the lowest price while doing it!

I installed this Hitch on my 2015 F350 6.7l one year ago and absolutely love it..
I have been faithful to the Reese Pro series for ever, so this was a very tough decision to go with Curt and all I can say is that I definitely made the right decision.
The hitch fits perfectly under my Pace Edward Jack Rabbit tonneau cover because the release handle lays flat.
This enables me to just pull the cover closed after I drop the camper thus keeping the hitch out of sight and my bed dry/extra storage.
Now on to function:
The slide mechanism works flawlessly and that with a pin weight of 2800lbs. (The Reese always made me fight with the release level)
The pin has Zero chuckle
Release handle is fantastic, I have been at some odd angles and have never had an issue releasing the pin.
What else can I say except I would buy this hitch again in a heart beat.

by:

I sold this hitch on Craigslist after the camping and go with a B&W 18,000 Patriot. There was significant amount of linier chucking due to the rubber bushing in the hitch. Also, the rail system for shorter beds, made removing and placing the hitch very uncomfortable. Overall coupling action was very smooth and the green hitch indicator made coupling a cinch.

by:

I'm happy with the hitch operation. It arrived missing some hardware (the four bolts that mount the hitch to the slider and the handle spring), but Carol at etrailer followed up and stayed on it until I received the missing parts. I've used the slider once in a tight turn situation and it gave great clearance from the cab. The handle that allows the slider to move requires some muscle to operate - I can't do it from beside the truck, I have to stand on the tire or use a short ladder. I'm six foot tall. The hitch operates well. I'd say we have made about ten RV trips, so I have gained some experience. It couples and decouples easily - as long as there's no push/pull forces. There's no way I could take the entire hitch out (with the RAM puck adapter) as one unit. But the whole assembly with break down (without tools) into three pieces that can be removed by two people. Only important if having access to the truck bed is important.

by:

Now this is what I'm talking about. This hitch is great! Very tough, rugged, dependable for all your 5th wheel towing needs. Easy smooth operation to switch from maneuverable position for those tight and sometimes hard to get into spots. Switching to towing mode is a breeze. This hitch limits that bucking and chugging effect as you tow down the highway. Easy to install and in my case I got the over kill with this 18,000 pound towing capacity. I only have a 13,000 pound RV; however I wanted that peace of mind knowing that I have enough strength and security behind me in the bed of my truck. Thanks etrailer for offering great products.

by:

I am extremely impressed with not only my new Curt 5th wheel hitch which I expected to be perfect but more importantly with the customer service that I received from the etrailer.com staff. They took considerable time to discuss different hitch options with me to help me decide which hitch would be the perfect choice for my specific needs. This was my 1st 5th wheel hitch purchase so I had very limited knowledge and they helped educate & guide me through the process. I saved hundreds of dollars purchasing my hitch through etrailer.com and would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase any type of hitch. Great job etrailer and thank you for all of your help and guidance !!!

by:

This hitch did nothing but satisfy my pulling needs! Strong secure connection with no play or noises. Durable and built to last a lifetime. This hitch will satisfy anyone’s towing needs I have no doubt about it. Thank you Kurt hitches for an amazing product.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2016 Nissan Titan XD
In order to mount a fifth wheel hitch to the factory rail system on your 2016 Nissan Titan XD, you will first need to obtain the factory adapter directly from Nissan. This will mount to the pucks in your truck bed to provide industry standard rails that will work with most fifth wheel hitches. Once you have the adapter in place, I recommend the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider # C16541 for your truck. • Can Sliding 5th-Wheel Hitch be Kept in Rearward Position
A fifth wheel hitch should remain in front of the rear axle, like how your Curt A20 # C16541 sits when not in the rearward position. It is not recommended to tow a fifth wheel trailer while the hitch is slid in the rearward position, as this will remove too much weight from the front axle and cause issues with steering and braking response. You should only slide your hitch all the way back during low-speed maneuvering to ensure that you have enough clearance between the trailer and the...

If the rails you have in your truck bed are spaced 22" apart front to back on center then yes, you can use these for the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider part # C16541. The Husky 15K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch should use the same industry standard rails/spacing (ISR) as the Curt A20. You'd probably need to do the same thing with the fifth wheel trailer. Have it jacked up as high as possible and then take the tailgate off of your truck so that it wouldn't interfere. The Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16536 weighs 236 lbs. I actually recommend you go with the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16541 instead as you can break this down into two pieces by removing only one pin, the head which weighs around 100 lbs and the base which weighs around 125 lbs.
