Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Built-In Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you some additional cab clearance.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Dual-jaw hitch removes without a trace for full bed access.Great hitch, fit right in. Only thing that needs improved are the instruction. The instructions were for an older model and unclear in certain areas. Other than the instructions, it's awesome and I would recommend it to anyone even considering a 5th wheel 763273
This is an awesome hitch. Really easy to install. I’d advise having a strong buddy help you lift it in and out of the truck. It weighs just under 300 lbs. The folks at Etrailer were very helpful. Highly recommend. John S. 721160
The Companion Slider Hitch that I ordered came in great shape and the ease of installing the hitch was a breeze. It took about an hour and I will be putting the camper on in the morning. Ordering from etrailer was a breeze and it took no time at all for them to provide a tracking number so that I could follow the shipment. Wonderful experience 790367
Very heavy. Slide works well, but when I used it for the first time the rails around the kingpin trashed my tailgate because it moved so far back. Luckily I have a grand Design Solitude that has such a rounded front profile that I don't need to activate the slide to do most backing and positioning 726801
The Companion Slider 5th wheel hitch fit perfectly into the factory installed system on my 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD. Installed in the 6'-6'' bed the 12'' slide is very helpful while parking my camper in tight spots and is easy to engage. Being a machinist myself I can see that the B&W hitch is well designed and built for the long haul. 740203
I took early delivery of a 2020 Silverado 2500HD. To my surprise, GM had changed the puck spacing, and none of the usual 5th. wheel hitch manufacturers had anything immediately available (when asked, all responded that they had product "in the works"). As soon as B & W's slider was released, I shopped-around and found the best deal at etrailer. The hitch was shipped on the same day I ordered it. Two days later the trucking company called to make an appointment for delivery. Since I live in a condo. development they arranged to send a straight truck rather than a tractor-trailer rig. Plus, they offered to roll the palleted shipment directly from their truck into the back of my pick-up so that I wouldn't have to reload it (thanx guys!). The hitch itself is well-build and fits exactly as expected. It should serve me for many years. What I found especially helpful was the 6 minute video that etrailer has on there website. It pointed-out the highlights of this particular product and showed how to use it correctly. What a selling tool! This wasn't the first time I have ordered from etrailer, and it certainly won't be my last! 721791
The delivery could not have been any better, I am very satisfied with the product and the service. 915552
Availability of the hitch to ship right away was understandably delayed as a result of Covid 19. I was however kept informed thru the web page of the statice of my order. When my hitch arrived paging was first class and everything in good order. In short, a good supplier to deal with! 913044
Kudos to the delivery guy who pulled the package up my 200 ft plus driveway with a pallet jack. This is a man who deserves credit 908494

I Got My 5th wheel Before Actual Due Date,Glad I Own A Tractor To Lift Unit and Put In Bed Of Truck.Fit in Perfect Easy to assemble, but The Part for the Spring To Keep 5th Tilted Back was a Bit Sketchy,Looked it Up on You Tube and Put it On,Looking Forward to Using it This Friday To Pick Up New Camper! Looks Well Built and Heavy to Take Load of Camper,I Recommend This To Anyone Who Needs A New 5th Wheel! 852358
Hitch is very well made. Shipping was fast. Can't wait to tow my new 5th wheel with it. 851549
Very pleased! Ordered on a Friday, it shipped Monday and I picked it up at the local ESTES dock on Thursday. Got it home, unboxed everything and dropped it in to my OEM attachment points. Instructions were simple as there are a couple adjustments for tightness you will need to make but other than that very easy install. B&W products are hands down a great choice. I installed this Item in to a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with zero issues. 851405
Awesome product and great fast service! !!! 850669
Debated quite a bit whether to do an auto/power slide or a manual slide. After talking to several folks and doing some research, I decided to go with the B&W hitch given the quality and reliability. Cost played a small factor too. I narrowed it down to this hitch and Pullrite Superglide (when I purchased, they had not released the 4500 for my truck). Also, I rarely need the slide, but when I do it's nice to know it's there and available. This hitch went into a 2020 GMC 3500HD Standard Box. Hitch came in two boxes and weighed in a 300 lbs. Etrailer has videos that really helped me to be prepared for the installation, which isn't all that difficult with the puck system. Directions provided with the hitch were good as well. Took me an hour or so to get it all hooked up. The leveling kit for me was the most difficult item to install...just a little tricky to get it on and at the right spacing. My height setting is at 17 inches (the lowest)...gave me six inch clearance of the 5th over the truck bed side rails and kept my 5th nearly level. I put the "B" arm on the passenger side to set it back and get a couple more inches of clearance for turning. Took the hitch for a test drive the next morning. Checked to make sure measurements were good and I had clearance all the way around. It performed very well. Easy to load and unload, feels very sturdy, quiet, and smooth. I know theses videos are for a Ford and Dodge, but it gives you a good idea of what to expect. Below are some videos and links that helped me. 825067
Very easy install with the puck system. Easy assembly many options for locations for the pin height and pin location. Great option for a short bed. Was very pleased with the footprint of the hitch it leaves plenty of room for my tool box fuel tank in front. 800071
Great product. Good assembly instructions. Shipped promptly and no damage. Good packaging 798951
Overall extremely happy with the product looks to be great quality and easy to use only downfall is the instructions are not very clear and they contradict themselves 797517
