Specially designed to attach to the receivers in your factory 5th-wheel towing prep package, the slider base on this hitch helps eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Dual-jaw hitch removes without a trace for full bed access.

Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Built-In Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you some additional cab clearance.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Specially designed to attach to the receivers in your factory 5th-wheel towing prep package, the slider base on this hitch helps eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Dual-jaw hitch removes without a trace for full bed access.Does not fit 2022 Ford F-250 OEM fifth wheel package. Feet of the base are a fraction of an inch too close together, striking the OEM pucks. Will not seat completely. One side may seat, the other side still sits on the edge of the puck.
Fantastic quality at a great price. Freight shipper delivered right to the bed with a powered lift gate.
Very happy with the B&W hitch. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a trouble free hitch. Simple clean design. My truck had a factory install puck system so once assembled the actual install took 5 minutes.
Thanks to Etrailer for the fast shipping of the B&W Companion slider hitch. Installation was a breeze. I simply unboxed the hitch, placed it in the bed of my truck, opened the lock levers, set it over my factory installed pick system, closed the locking levers, inserted the pins, and the base was fastened in place securely. Finished by installing the pivot arm risers with four bolts each, applied a thin layer of grease to the bushings for a smoother pivot action, set the double jaw locking King pin head over the pivot, inserted the lock pins and finished. Less than 30 minutes to complete the install. Absolutely love how it works towing my new 5th wheel camper.
I have been using B&W hitches for quite awhile now and I love the quality of these great hitches. This is about the second time using etrailer and the experience has been great as well. From the time I ordered my hitch until delivery of about 3 weeks e trailer was right there, answering my questions or keeping me in the loop as to shipping and delivery.
Overall it has been a great experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use e trailer again!
Thank you for the experience!

My hitch works great, too bad it’s so stinkin heavy. I bought an engine hoist but that didn’t work to well.
This slide hitch is, for me, an absolute must for hauling my fifth wheel with a standard sized truck bed on my F250 Super Duty. Without the slide I would be at great risk of rear of cab contact with the front of the camper. It's a great product for when I need to maneuver my camper; which is almost always either at the campsite or my driveway.
My wife and I have been researching options for towing our fifth wheel trailer for the past couple of months and since we had just purchased a Ford F250 short bed pickup, we decided on the B&W Companion Slider hitch based on the majority of positive reviews.
We received the slider hitch on a pallet last Friday, and it arrived in great condition and arrived much sooner than I expected! Thanks for the expeditious shipping. I decided to wait until Saturday to install as I had just installed a bedrug in the F250 we had purchased last week. (This F250 has the 5th wheel prep package installed which also aided in our decision on the Companion slider.) I had read that the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch could be installed with the bedrug installed, so I measured and cut out around the OEM Pucks in the bed. The pallet weighed about 330 lbs according to the Bill of Lading. It came in two boxes, the smaller one contained the head, and the large box had the slider assembly. I used a portable engine hoist and two slings to lift the slider assembly up onto the bed of the F250 and put cardboard under the legs to slide on the bedrug. Got it lined up and it sat in the pucks no problem. Only one of the locking handles closed on the first try. I had watched most of the install videos on the etrailer site and this made the install much easier. One thing I would recommend is to remove the covers on the sides covering the castle nuts. This makes adjusting them much easier and it only takes removing the two bolts holding the covers on. It took less than 10 minutes to get the other three castle nuts adjusted and get tension on the locking handles. From there I installed the two coupler pivot arms according to the instructions (at the highest setting) and torqued the bolts to the required 110 ft/lbs. Applied the white lithium grease to the bushings and set the head in place. Followed the rest of the install video instructions and did a test hookup to my fifth wheel trailer. Everything worked as described, and I was very pleased. Took the trailer out the next day for a test run of just over 120 miles and had no issues at all!
A fantastic purchase and very easy installation! I have enclosed some photos showing the Companion slider in the bed over the bedrug and also showing that the tonneau cover (Retrax Pro MX) has enough clearance to operate properly with no interference from the fifth wheel. This was another outstanding purchase through etrailer.com. Keep up the great work!
This hitch is fantastic quality.
etrailer.com used cut rate shipping that was unable to deliver to my rural address and was forced to find a way to retrieve the item myself or be faced with getting charged for the shipping when these s.o.b.'s weren't able to complete their obligation to deliver.
B&W is definitely a high quality unit while etrailer.com obviously didn't give a crap.
5 stars for B&W, 1 star for etrailer.com.

The Companion 5th wheel slider hitch is solid, easy to operate and very well made. B&W gives excellent customer support. It is a very heavy unit so its well worth getting the lifting eye and setting up a multiparty pulley system to lift it in and out of your truck bed.
Nice hitch and well built. Hardest thing to do was installing the coupler level spring on the side of the pivot arm.

Great
Looked at numerous other sellers for this hitch and no one came even close to E-trailer's price which also included free shipping. Delivery was quick. The hitch dropped right into my 2023 Ford F-250 short short bed with the factory installed "puck system". Installation was a snap.
This item though very heavy is built better than I expected. Install took less than 45 minutes and looks amazing in the bed of my truck
Very Pleased with my purchase, it came sooner than expected. The installation instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. I did have a question for customer service and when I called, I got my answer and an explanation that I needed. After install, I hooked up my Fifth wheel and it pulled great. SOLID and Strong and the manual slider worked perfect.
Great heavy duty hitch with puck system. No movement at all rowing slider hitch works smoothly
Package arrived quickly on a freight truck in perfect condition. Not even a scuff mark on the boxes. Do take note that this product comes on a wooden pallet in two boxs and you will probably need help if you have to move it around at home before unboxing. I just backed my truck up to the box truck and we slid the pallet off into my truck. It is very heavy.
Seems to be very well built. Everything works great except the latch to lock the sliding mechanism in place doesn't latch most times and have to slam it in place.

I reached out to B and W about the locking latch. They advised that there is a spring located on the bottom side of the slider that you can adjust. It is likely that the spring is currently sitting in the middle hole. There are three holes in total and lowering the spring will make it tighter. Raising the spring will release pressure and allow it to move more smoothly. To adjust the spring, it is much easier to completely remove the spring from the end opposite of the holes, then lower it where is needs to be in the hole and then use a screwdriver to slide the spring back on to the end opposite of the holes. I hope that this helps and if you have any other questions please reach out.
very pleased with this hitch. Pull a 32 ft toy hauler and this hitch makes connecting and disconnecting a breeze
The purchase was great Hitch arrived promptly and un damaged price was fair Thanks etrailer!
Very happy with the product. Very well built, easy to take in and out with pucks. Handles well with trailer attached. I would recommend if it is the right type for your vehicle. Also compliments to etrailer support when I was shopping and investigating best hitch for my vehicle and 5th wheel.
Works fantastic. I bought this because it was a B & W. I saw it at an RV show and the factory demonstrated it. It is made in USA so it is more expensive but has the highest quality. Bought it through etrailer because they are a high quality e store. I have bought several item including tires through them, and trust them over any other e retailer. Much better than [online vendor], you can ask them questions if you need to and get a person that knows what they are talking about.
I've just installed but, I haven't used it yet. I'm 65 and it's heavy (300lbs) but, I was able to easily install it by myself. Have the delivery driver place the delivery pallet in the pick-up bed where you you plan to install it and assemble it there. By first sliding the box off the pallet and then cutting down the cardboard boxing, the box served as an easy way to slide the base of the hitch over my Rhino Liner and right into place. It took me about an hour to assemble and install.
It looks great, easy to assemble/install and fits like a glove on my 2017 F-250 Lariat. I would definitiely recommend the hitch based on ease of installation.
I pick up my 5th wheel this weekend and if possible will update this review with regards to hitching and towing a RV.
Good service and very helpful identifying the proper hitch for my pickup truck and fifth wheel camper. Thanks!
Great service. I had a question about the right hitch for my truck. Got a reply and also the info so I got the right hitch!
The hitch arrived on a pallet and was properly packed and padded to prevent damage. Installation onto my Ford F350 puck system was super easy.
The hitch performed flawlessly. Hitching was very easy, and the slider function was easy to use. The was very little clunking.
I recommend this hitch if you're looking at a standard fifth wheel hitch.
Couldn't beat the etrailer price, and shipping was crazy fast. Got the hitch in just a few days. Install was a piece of cake, the only challenging part was the sheer weight of this thing. A helper is definitely needed.
Hooking up my new 5th wheel was nice and easy. Way easier than my gooseneck trailer. Pulls like a dream, no clunking or noises. Sliding to the rearward position for maneuvering went really well too.
Looking forward to putting a lot of miles on my new camper and hitch!

I am sorry to hear that the 5th wheel is not sitting into the pucks properly. It does should like that the feet may have been knocked out of alignment during shipping which can happen. I will have Customer Service reach out to you so that we can assist you.
