Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The smoke dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

Video Transcript for MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent Review and Installation

Jake: Hey guys. This is Jake here with Etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Maxxfan air vent. This is going to allow you to get that unwanted hot air up and out of your camper or your trailer at a faster rate than your stock fan. This is going to be a great option if you're wanting to replace a vent on your trailer that doesn't have a fan and you're wanting to get more circulation or to replace a factory fan that might be smaller and you just want more air flow. This vent is going to have some similar characteristics as your factory vent.

You're going to be able to pull down on this knob and then turn it to open up the vent to release that hot air. Whether it's open or closed you do have the ability to lock this knob so that the lid is going to be stationary in the open or closed position. Just push it up to lock it in place. On our control panel is going to be one of our differences from your factory fan or vent. It's going to have a plus and minus for your speed control. It's going to have a in and out.

So, if you want to bring some fresh air in it'll work just like a ceiling fan and it'll have an out so if you want to take some of that stagnant hot air and blow it out you can do that. And over here I like this feature a lot. It's a auto feature. So, if you push auto it'll regulate the temperature. If it's hotter than 78 degrees the fan's going to kick on and if it gets below 78 degrees the fan will stop running.

Now we can go ahead and turn our fan on just to show you how it works. Push the on/off button till you hear that beep. This fan is going to be extremely quiet compared to those factory fans. And we can bump up the speed. Now I am wearing a microphone but I can tell you it's extremely quiet. This fan is going to have 10 different speeds so depending on what your situation is you're going to be able to regulate that.

If your trailer is getting hotter you're going to be able to bump it up to the 10th speed to really crank some of that hot air out. But if you're just wanting a little bit of a breeze you can put it in the in position and just turn it on low.One nice thing about this fan is it's going to have a nice flush mount design so you're not going to have to worry about it coming down in your trailer at all. It's also going to have a screen over the fan that's very very easily removable. You just turn these knobs and remove the vent. And then you can just clean it out, maybe dust off your fins, and replace it. A couple of notes about power we're running our fan off a standard 12 volt battery on the front of our cargo trailer and it's working great. You will want to make sure that you have some way to charge that battery because eventually it will use it up. This fan is going to need to pull five amps so just keep that in mind when plugging in your camper or your trailer. It's also going to need a 16 gauge wire to be able to run it to the power. That should be more than enough. And when it comes to solar power your fan is still going to have to be connected to some sort of power whether it be a battery or a plug in. And then your solar panel is going to have to have to be strong enough to recharge that battery at the rate that your fan is using it.Now, let's go ahead and go up on the roof and take a look at what the outside looks like. So, here up on the roof you can see what our fan vent is going to look like. It's going to have your intake right here on the side when it's in the propped up position. When you have it propped down your vent will sit closer to the top of your trailer so that no rain or anything can get inside. This fan is going to come available in two different colors. You'll have the white one like we have here which is going to match any other white accessories that you have on the roof of your trailer or your RV. Or you can get the smoked color to be able to match the black accessories that are on the top of your RV. Here you see it in the open position. This is still going to protect the inside from rain. So, you're going to be able to have it open with the fan on while it's raining. Now, we'll go ahead and close it and show you how low profile it is. See how it really shrinks down It's going to have a nice low profile look and it will only sit off your roof about five inches.Depending on what kind of roof supports you have in your trailer you're going to need to pick up the appropriate screws for that. The fan will come with wood screws if you have wood supports but you're going to need to pick up self tappers if you have metal roof supports. You're also going to need a couple of tubes of self leveling sealant to seal out the outside edge. We do have kits available to get this fan installed here at Etrailer. Now that we've gone over some of those features let's go ahead and show you how easy it is to get installed. So, to begin our install of our new fan we're going to need to remove our old vent. We'll start by removing the four screws and then you just pull your old vent down. Now we can move to the roof to remove the rest of it. To remove our factory vent we're going to need to start by scraping off the old caulk so we'll do that now. There's going to be screws around the outside of your factory vent so that's what you need to access. We found one here so we'll keep going around the perimeter until we find all of the screws. Now that we've exposed all of the screws around the perimeter we can start removing them. And you'll notice once you get all of your screws out you're still not going to be able to lift the vent off so you may have to get your putty knife underneath the outside rail and separate that sealant from the bottom of the vent. Once you have that seal broken underneath the pan you should be able to lift your old vent right off. You're going to want to try to get the area as clean as possible so that the new fan goes in very easily and seals correctly. Now if you're installing this fan in a spot on your roof where there isn't an existing hole you're going to have to cut a 14 by 14 inch square hole. You're going to want to try to hit two roof supports just so that the fan is sturdy. Now, we're going to take our fan so it's going to go on our roof and install Butyle tape on the bottom, we do sell this here at Etrailer, so that it seals up the bottom when we put this on our roof. We have one strip here. You want to peel it back a little bit and put it over the top of the corner, stretch it all the way out, and push it down to secure it. And you'll do this all the way around the perimeter. Now we've got all of our Butyl tape in place we can go ahead and put it in place on our roof. When setting this in place on your roof you want to make sure that these two metal brackets that are meant to accept the screws for the fan itself are on either side of the trailer, not front to back. Go ahead and peel our tape off. Carefully set it in place. Now you want to apply pressure all the way around to get that Butyl tape to stick down. Now in order to get your phalange in place secured onto your roof they do include wood screws if you're going into wooden roof supports but we're going to use self tapping screws because we're going into metal roof supports. We'll go ahead and take our self tapping screws and screw it into our frame. You want to be careful when tightening these down 'cause you don't want to break this plastic phalange. So, when installing your new phone you'll want to open it up so that you're going to have access to the screw holes on the side. Take your wiring, drop it down in the hole, and set it down into place. Now we can go ahead and put our screws in the side. They're going to be your shorter larger head screws in your packet of included screws. We're using a manual screw driver so that we don't risk damaging any of the plastic. Just screw it in until it's tight. So, what you'll need to do when you get on the inside of your trailer to hook up your power is find a constant power source. We have a light switch here on the wall so we followed our yellow wire back up, found it up here, so that we can get constant power to the fan. And you'll follow our line and it leads over to the power on our fan. We connected it with heat shrink butt connector so that we ensured that there's no corrosion that can get to this connection. Then we took our ground wire and ran it out and ground it right here on our frame. If you don't have metal roof supports you'll have to run it either to the negative terminal on the battery or down to the frame of the trailer. To get our phalange in on the inside you want to hold your wires up and out of the way. Insert your phalange. And now what we'll need to do is we're going to have to mark the outside edge of where it'll make contact with our side rail on our roof support. So, we'll make a mark right there and then take it outside and make our cut. Now we're going to take a inaudible 00:11:09 and cut the excess off the bottom. Now that we have our phalange trimmed down go ahead and slide it up into place. Included are a set of four wood screws with white heads on them that are meant to go on the inside so that you can't see 'em. We're going to have to use self tapers because we're screwing it into a metal frame. Now you will have to cut either a little slip in your phalange here on the side for the wires to fit through or you can just run your wires on the outside like we did. Now let's test it out before we go up and seal up the roof. We'll push the on/off button to turn it on. We'll bump up the speed. All right. Now that everything's working we'll head up to the roof and put our sealant on.Now, before you seal up the edge you want to take a knife and cut off the extra sealant that is underneath our lip here. This'll make for a better seal when you apply the sealant. When you apply this sealant you're going to want to put a bead right at the intersection of the flat plate here, and the top of your roof, and then we'll put one more on top of our plate, and on the bottom. So, all three of those beads will connect. Now once you have all of your sealant in place go ahead and peel off the protective tape. I like to leave it on as long as I can just so that the top of your fan stays nice and clean. You will want to let this sealant dry for 24 to 48 hours before taking it outside. Well guys that's going to do it for our install of the Maxxfan Deluxe.

Good quality and perfect for my needs! I had one installed in the bedroom and one in the living room to replace current vents and it creates great air circulation. Haven't tested yet whether it can be open while it's raining. 680222

Nicely engineered unit that, with Maxxairs' thorough instructions, installed without difficulty. A nice addition to our fifth wheel... Equally important, the service from etrailer was top notch, the product was in stock, was shipped quickly and was priced competitively. We'll be back... 643823

We ordered and DIY-installed two of these MaxxAir fans to replace ineffective and aging vent fans in our 5th wheel RV. Installation was straightforward using the easy-to-understand instructions. All the necessary hardware is included, although you'll need some butyl tape and self-leveling sealant to complete the installation on the rooftop. We love the ease of operation, the relatively quiet 10-speed fan, and the ability to use the fan even during a rain. The mounting bracket that fits the 14" roof opening is a one-time install, meaning that you don't have to tear into the roof and sealant again should you ever need to replace the fan and cover unit with the same or similar model. I agree with all the other positive reviews I've read about this product. 680545

Quick ship. Install in my 66 Airstream was a breeze. I put 1 in front and 1 in back to circulate air, which the originals just couldn't do very well. 556851

I love these fans. When I bought a caravan I removed the fantastic fan for one of these because it can be left open when it rains....I rarely ever closed it just so I had airflow in the caravan. Now I have a van, installed it for the same reason. Expensive, but worth it in the long run. I wish they offered a non translucent top model. 662099

Delivery was as indicated and they followed up to make sure I got what I wanted and was satisfied.... Can't ask for much more.....Will definitely buy from them down the road.....Thanks 614790

Installation was easy and simple. As long as you seal it correctly, you’ll love this product. I installed it in a back room of my 34’ tag-along. Kids were complaining that it was stuffy and no air flow. I did about a weeks worth of research and product research and found this product. It works wonderfully! We primarily use the exahust function. With the integrated rain shield, you won’t have to worry when it’s raining outside. I was a little disappointed in the distributing service from eTralier. I was initially told that the product was not in available stock and the item had to come from the distributor. After about the third e-mail notifying me of the same delay, I called and expressed my disappointment. I received the product 2 days after that phone call was made. 443611

Nice product, very impressed with it’s design, construction, functions, quality and ease of operations. It looks great on my Transit van. Being it’s a medium height roof I don’t want it to be any higher than it has to be. The low profile is nice. The height of van with Maxxfan open is 9 ft. 4 in. The etrailer installation video on the Transit was very helpful. I made a frame just as described on the video. Using the 2 x 2 ft. piece of 3/4 inch plywood to make the frame is the way to go. It provides the strength I needed due to the weight of my solar panel bracket just 3 inches away. The two screws you see near the edge of the frame is the solar panel bracket. A constructed picture frame style frame would never support the weight. It is a strong solid frame. The roof is solid. 634921

The Maxxair Deluxe fan works better than expected. We ordered the version without a remote and are extemely happy with the product. It took me a while to get around to putting it in my motorhome as I thought I would have to fish wires through my ceiling insulation, but when I remove the vent (with no fan) there were wires for the 12 volt lights already passing through the opening. Some YouTube videos warned against using power to your lights to power your fan since they are switched. Each light in our motorhome has its own switch in addition to the switch up front that controls them all. I just have to leave the main switch on and turn each individual light off. We do that anyway most of the time so it worked out fine. The vent fan was pretty easy to install and I am not the most handy person you will ever meet. As always the fine people at etrailer were friendly and helpful and they have at least as good a price as anyone and better than most. Very happy camper. 497875

I purchased this MaxxAir MaxxFan to replace a stock vent/fan that came on my teardrop camper. The most important thing to me was that the fan was quiet as it is only about 4 feet away while sleeping. This fan is so quiet that I can barely hear it on low and on high we can talk in normal tones and hear the television over it just fine. With the stock fan on we could not hear the TV even with the volume at max and could barely stand to leave it on while sleeping. The sleek profile actually adds style to the teardrop. My second hope is that it moves enough air that we won't need to use A/C - so far so good, this fan moves so much air that my curtains go sideways (and can still hear crickets outside) and the 10 speeds let me get it just perfect. Auto on at 78 degrees, reversible, ceiling fan... all nice bonuses. 100% satisfied with this product - Follow the directions, install is relatively easy, solid product. Hardest part for me was correcting the original opening which was not square. I used an oscillating tool to cut the inside shroud down, it was pretty quick but left some cleanup, not sure if it was ultimately any easier than using the prescribed hacksaw. 561667

The only reason I did not give the great fan a 5 is because the screen will pop up and rub against the fan. I had to take a button and thread and great a pull down "handle" on the screen because it would pop up so often that taking the screen out and pushing the screen back away from the fan was a big hassle. Great fan with great features, just a poor design on the screen. 565306

They still work but 2 out of the 3 fans squeak at low speed.. which I feel is a little premature for only being a year old. When really they started squeaking at 6months. All in all they do a great job of exchanging the air in our rig.. 719771

This is my second Maxxfan for my van! why two fans on my van? it's a 2017 GMC Savana cargo van and the curvature of the van is to much for most add on windows and the ones I found that would work I didn't like so a second fan was to let more ventilation in . You can leave the fans open even in the rain and they have 10 speeds for intake or exhaust. 673896

The vent installation went very well. The video on e-trailer was helpful. I added aluminum reinforcement flat bars to the top of the mounting flange to improve the stiffness of the sheet metal roof. The Sprinter van has a flat area to install the fan without having to build up a mounting surface. I used stainless steel Philips head screws and nylocks instead of the provided stainless steel screws. The black wire on the fan is the positive lead which is not a standard 12-volt wiring color. 670289

Replaced all 3 vents on the roof of our 5th wheel trailer about a year ago. The Maxfans Work great, low power use and when on the lower speeds I don't even hear them. The auto thermostat works very well and saves power at night when running on batteries. 660562

Received my Maxx Fan and roof vent kit on Monday 6/17/19 right on time and everything was their and in good condition. I installed the Maxx Fan on my 2017 GMC cargo van the same day, took me a little longer than I thought it would but not bad for a 74 year old guy. I watched the videos that etrailer had on their site and some other [videos] and that really helped for a first time doing this type of install. I had the wiring ready to go and the fan worked great, thanks etrailer for the fast service and a great price on the Maxx Fan. 660183

After considerable research I ordered this hatch and on close inspection it easily met my high expectation. Etrailer has been the best online deal that I have had so far and will have no hesitation to order from them again. It arrived on time in good condition and they kept me informed from the moment I ordered the hatch and emailed a how to install video. I have not had time to install it yet but I will be happy to do a review after I use it. 652307

I cannot give a 5 because it showed a control but I didn't get one. Why have a fan you have to get up in the night to control. Other than that the fan is satisfactory. A big disappoint with the large expense and then getting it put in. 584446

I just received the Maxxfan and have not yet installed it. I feel very comfortable ordering from etrailer because of past experiences with products that I’ve previously ordered from them. Very good service. Also, there was more product information on the etrailer site than I could find on other sites including The Maxxfan site. 562450

Looks great, working great. I installed it with minor problems. The side screws would not align correctly. I had a hard time pushing down on the top unit to align them. I might need to reinstall it, will check tomorrow. The part is reinstalling the top part does not mess with any sealed areas. 556920

The Maxxair 6200K was shipped very quickly and the install was straightforward. The opening hinge appears pretty sturdy and should be able to handle the wind load if opened during driving. The fan is reasonably quiet...actually quieter than the Fantastic fan I also have. A good product and excellent service from etrailer. 552970

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Great fans. We boondock a lot so don't use the AC much, so two of these give it lots of airflow and keeps us pretty cool in our 21' TT. They have lots of air flow to clear out the heat in just a few minutes. They are totally silent on low and not very loud on high (Some say quieter than the Superfan). When we cook we reverse the flow to blow in and pressurize the odors and smoke out the hood vent and kitchen window. The only recommendation I have is to consider the one with the remote control. My wife is 5'0" and cannot reach the controls to open the vent nor turn it on/off. 544636

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

My backyard Tuff Shed workshop has a turbine vent fan, which really doesn't work all that well. Over the years I've tried various powered fans, but have never been satisfied with the results. Now that it needs a roof, I was thinking about a solar roof fan. Since I have a 400 watt, 12 volt solar system for security lighting, I realized I could use a fan similar to the one in my RV. The installation was very easy, and the quality of the fan is excellent. Not having to worry about closing the lid for rain is great, and the automatic thermostat is a wonderful set and forget feature. I'm especially impressed how quiet it is. 547600

Not really happy with this product. Expensive fan that will not run for three minutes without turning itself off. Called the mfg , they said bad board they sent a replacement board , worked great for a week now it is back to turning itself off again!!! Not etrailers fault , just a sorry & expensive piece of junk. Wish i had bought the fantastic fan instead. How hard is it to build a 12 volt fan???? 552948

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Nice fan, I put a 7000 over bed and installed this one over cabover in Class C. Install was easy and identical to the 7000. They need to include self taping screws to attach collar to roof, mine has a metal frame and included screws are for wood. It does have a thermostat button preset at 78 degrees so if you leave open it will pull or push air when cab reaches 78. 7000 has a remote and motor on lift, thats the only difference. 515231

Still working fine. Have had no problems and would definitely buy again.

Do you have a question about this RV Vents and Fan?

  • MaxxAir Roof Vents for RVs with Thermostats with Manual Lift and Powered Lift
  • You are correct and all of the settings of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07000K that you mentioned are correct. The powered lift can be turned off to allow you to manually lift the lid, this is thermostatically controlled, and due to the lid design it could be open and vent while raining. This is due to the vents being underneath the lid. I attached a picture that shows what the display looks like for the temperature setting. The smoked color...

  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06401K that you referenced is exhaust only. For a MaxxAir MaxxFan that has the dual functions of exhausting air or pulling the air in in we have part # MA00-06200K or part # MA00-07500K. The big difference between these 2 models is that part # MA00-07500K comes with a remote that you can use to activate the different functions while part # MA00-06200K has a flush mounted keypad instead. • Can a Voltage Regulator be Installed with MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent to Help Protect It
  • Unless the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06200K is installed on your vehicle I wouldn't worry about a voltage regulator because the voltage will drop enough that you won't see a spike over 13.6V. If you do have the roof vent installed on your vehicle then it isn't a bad idea to install a type of voltage regulator just to be on the safe side. We don't carry anything like that but I'm sure you can acquire one through your local hardware or home improvement store.
