Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The white dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on the keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on the keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

Video Transcript for MaxxAir RV Vents and Fans - Roof Vent - MA00-05100K Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Maxxair Max Fan trailer roof fit with a 12 volt fan. Just to get started I want to point out that it's going to come with your interior garnish or trim piece. The flange right here will be the point that's visible from inside your trailer or RV. It's a nice white design so it's going to give it a clean, finished look. The roof or ceiling would be in between these points here. It's also going to come with this piece, which is going to be the roof flange.

It's going to connect to the actual vent housing with these clips right here and the provided hardware. The roof flange is included, all the hardware to get it installed in included, and it's going to come with the interior trim piece and garnish. I just wanted to mention that up front because I'm actually going to set these components aside so that we can talk a little bit more about just the fan. This is a really nice design. It's going to feature a reversible, variable speed fan that's going to allow you precisely control air movement in and out of your RV. This can be used as ceiling fan, so it will operate while the lid with closed to really help circulate air inside your trailer.

One of the most unique features about the unit is it has the built in rain cover. It's going to use a patented design to keep out the rain, so that way you don't have worry about anymore stuffy interiors even when it's raining outside. It also eliminates the need of having to install a separate vent cover to get rain protection, and ultimately it's going to do a great job at keeping the rain out, even when the lid is closed or open. That way you can operate the fan in practically any weather. Some other neat features about the unit is that it's going to feature an adjustable thermostat that lets you control the temperature inside your RV or trailer. If you're away or you're sleeping, it's really to help save energy by running the fan no more than necessary.

It's a really neat feature of the unit. It's going to have an automatic setting, which is going to set it at 78 degree Fahrenheit. That can be adjusted. It's going to come with detailed installation instructions to walk you through how to adjust that. It will adjust in increments of one degree.

You have a really nice keypad design right here, but again, that thermostat design is really nice feature to have. The rain cover lid is going to open and close with the manual rotating hand operated knob right here. The knob is actually in a locked position. To unlock it, you have to pull it out just like that and then you can rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise to open and close the dome. It is a manual operation, but that knob can lock to ensure that the lid stays in position where you want it. We're going to go ahead and open it up. That way we can take a look at the lift arms that the unit uses. Really nice design. That's going to be fully open, so you can see the nice ventilation that it has here in the back. Now when it comes to the lift arms, it's pretty difficult to see, but if you look through that vent area, you're going to see a lift arm right below my finger on this side and at the same point on this side. The dual lift arms are going to provide sturdy support for the lid when it's open, so that's going to help it withstand high winds without fluttering and it can remain fully open while you're driving. The roof flange, again, is that separate piece that we talked about that's going to connect to the vent with mounting clips and screws. I also want to point out that keypad on the unit, where the thermostat is, that's going to be a flush mounted keypad, so it's very easy to operate and it's very easy to clean. You can just wipe that off if you ever need to clean it. Again, the white interior trim piece or garnish is included. Now this is designed to fit your standard opening size of . Rough opening size of 14 and a quarter by 14 and a quarter, or 14 inches by 14 inches. The standard opening size makes it easy to replace or upgrade an old vent. When it comes to the motor on the unit, it's going to feature a sealed ball bearing motor that's built to last a long time. You will have to make some electrical connections. It's designed to run off of a 12 volt DC minimum 5 amp service. It does come with the necessary hardware and electrical connections to get everything connected and installed according to the instructions. When it comes to the roof thickness that it'll fit, it'll fit roofs from 1 and 1/8th inches to 6 and a half inches thick. If your roof is less than 1 and 1/8th inch thick, the ceiling must be built up to accommodate the unit. When it comes to the fan specifications, that fan portion is going to be 12 inches in diameter. It's going to be a 10 blade design. You'll also see here that it has the insect screen. You can just rotate these out of the way and you can actually pop that insect screen out for easy cleaning of the unit and of the screen itself. Now, with it fully installed, it's going to sit above the roof in the closed position by about 5 inches, so it's a nice low profile design. When it's fully open that's going to increase to about 9 and 5/16ths of an inch. You can see here that the cover color is white, the trim piece or the garnish is white in color as well. That's going to do it for today's look at the Maxxair Max Fan trailer roof fit with a 12 volt fan.

The built-in rain shield on this manual roof vent protects the interior of your RV or camper from rainwater. The reversible, 10-speed fan has a thermostat to regulate airflow inside your RV. Ceiling fan mode circulates air when vent is closed.

Nice fan, I put a 7000 over bed and installed this one over cabover in Class C. Install was easy and identical to the 7000. They need to include self taping screws to attach collar to roof, mine has a metal frame and included screws are for wood. It does have a thermostat button preset at 78 degrees so if you leave open it will pull or push air when cab reaches 78. 7000 has a remote and motor on lift, thats the only difference. 515231

The product delivered quickly. Upon installation, damage to product was discovered and etrailer provide a replacement product promptly. The fan is installed in the tack room of our horse trailer to eliminate moisture and the resulting damage from moisture and mildew. We are very pleased with the product and the support provided by etrailer after the sale. 326090

My backyard Tuff Shed workshop has a turbine vent fan, which really doesn't work all that well. Over the years I've tried various powered fans, but have never been satisfied with the results. Now that it needs a roof, I was thinking about a solar roof fan. Since I have a 400 watt, 12 volt solar system for security lighting, I realized I could use a fan similar to the one in my RV. The installation was very easy, and the quality of the fan is excellent. Not having to worry about closing the lid for rain is great, and the automatic thermostat is a wonderful set and forget feature. I'm especially impressed how quiet it is. 547600

Received my MaxxFan. Was backordered for just a short while, Chris kept me posted on the progress. Fan was installed in my little camper by a mechanic friend. Works great, only had a roof vent before, not the fan will keep the camper ventilated. I really appreciate the instructions Chris sent for install 512853

etrailer does a great job getting items sent out and customer service is great. Very helpful with questions. The fan I replaced with the Maxxfan 5100 was in the bedroom of the 5th wheel and had the automatic lift lid and in the middle of the night would open and close and was quite loud. That's why I bought the manual lift. It works fine for us. Have used it for a full summer now without issue. I have noticed that the old fan did move more air than this one but hasn't been an issue for us. The only thing I don't like is when you set the temperature on automatic this little green light comes on and stays on. It is bright enough that it lights up the whole bedroom all night. Will find some black tape to cut and put over it. Was easy to install as other reviews have stated. Cleaning up the old dicor off the rubber roof was the only thing that took some time. Very happy with it. 561770

Easy to use and works well as a night time white noise source for sleeping. Easy to clean by removing screen. Worked ok as a ceiling fan when closed to stir up AC. I mounted it in a hole someone else had cut in our 13 ft scamp. 558963

It's been a year since we installed our first Maxxfan Deluxe Vent W/ 12v Fan - Manual - 10 Speed - White.... 1) It wasn't too difficult to remove the old fan and install the new one. Took a little patience with the first install, but by the third (we have three fans) it was a piece of cake. Don't forget to use Decor to ensure everything is sealed properly. 2) These fans are very powerful. The one in my bathroom will actually suck the door shut. When we set the one the living area to blow air in and the one in the bedroom to blow air out, air really moves and cools down the rv fast. 3) They are way more quiet compared to my old original fans. Only when I have them on the highest setting to I notice they are on. 4) The built in rain vent is very useful given that if it is raining the only air we get is through the fan vents as all the windows must be closed. 4) My only disappointment has been with the way the fan blades are designed, the air moves more sideways near the ceiling (which is good as hot air rises) but when it is really hot and I'm lying in bed I would like the air to blow downwards so I can feel it. 558588

This is a great fan. I love that I don't have to close it during a rain storm as often it is still muggy or the rain happens when I'm asleep and I like my fresh air. I also appreciate the thermostat. This means I can set and leave it. If it cools off during the night, again I don't have to get up to shut it down or if I'm away for the day it will keep the camper cool and shut down when not needed, saving the house battery. Over all this is a great product for the price. 478194

Its a good fan. I love the fact that you can leave it open in all but the most severe rain storms. Its great for the dog, and seems to be very durable. The only down side for me is that it dosen't seem to move as much air as I would like. Even at full speed (in either direction) it dosen't move as much as I think it should. 562000

The fan arrived promptly as scheduled, there was no damage in shipping and installation in an existing vent space on my class b van was straightforward and simple. I wired it into a nearby light circuit with no difficulty. Performance is excellent , quiet and with very good air flow. Lifting mechanism is sturdy and works easily. I am completely satisfied with the product and the delivery service. 463761

This was bought as an enhancement for my original "Fantastic Fan" install. Straight forward and simple install. The hardest part was removing all the old silicone caulk that was used to seal the old vent. As expected, the install was basically "drop in." (I could even reuse the old interior trim moulding.) The only caution I'd have is pay attention to the mounting screws. All of the installation screws come in one bag. There are 4 interior trim screws, which are pretty obvious, large number of #6x 1" trim-ring-to-vehicle mounting screws, and 4 fan-to-mounting-ring #8x3/4 screws. After I installed the trim ring, I realized that I had 2 #8 and 2 #6. Oops, off to the hardware store to get a couple of #8. Lesson learned "RTFI" (read the f... instructions.) Still, the instructions didn't say to count the various screws. Also, the instructions are in TINY print. If you're old enough to afford an RV, and old enough to be replacing original equipment on it, you're too old to be able to read the tiny print. OTOH, there are some good videos out there. 659417

Love this fan. Highly versatile due to the 10 speeds and intake/exhaust choices. Can run on low, silently all night drawing warm air out of the camper, MUCH nicer than noisy AC. And best of all, the built-in rain shroud means you can use it in the rain, even a downpour! Highly recommended. 657089

Ventfan has worked great one year later. I replaced the bedroom Fantastic fan with the fanvent with remote control. My wife loves this one, she want a remote control for the original fan we bought. I’ll have to look into this.

This was an upgrade (wife's request for a fan in the master) so installation was easy with an existing 14"x14" roof hole. Only comment would be to include weather sealing material that my local RV dealer recommended to ensure the new vent was water tight between the roof and fan shroud. Look forward to years of keeping the wife happy! :-) 142076

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Nice product, very impressed with it’s design, construction, functions, quality and ease of operations. It looks great on my Transit van. Being it’s a medium height roof I don’t want it to be any higher than it has to be. The low profile is nice. The height of van with Maxxfan open is 9 ft. 4 in. The etrailer installation video on the Transit was very helpful. I made a frame just as described on the video. Using the 2 x 2 ft. piece of 3/4 inch plywood to make the frame is the way to go. It provides the strength I needed due to the weight of my solar panel bracket just 3 inches away. The two screws you see near the edge of the frame is the solar panel bracket. A constructed picture frame style frame would never support the weight. It is a strong solid frame. The roof is solid. 634921

Do you have a question about this RV Vents and Fan?

  • MaxxAir Roof Vents for RVs with Thermostats with Manual Lift and Powered Lift
  • You are correct and all of the settings of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07000K that you mentioned are correct. The powered lift can be turned off to allow you to manually lift the lid, this is thermostatically controlled, and due to the lid design it could be open and vent while raining. This is due to the vents being underneath the lid. I attached a picture that shows what the display looks like for the temperature setting. The smoked color...

  • Hardware Needed to Install MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K referenced in your question includes the white interior trim piece (garnish), insulated electrical connectors and the hardware needed for installation. The only thing you will need to add is some roof sealant # 0160297 and 16 gauge wire like # DW02359-1 if you don't already have it. The wire is sold by the foot so you can get exactly the length you need. This is a really nice roof vent with fan that will move air in...

  • Recommended Battery Charger for Battery to Run Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan
  • If you are wanting to power the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-05100K from your trailer battery that is being charged by solar panels, I recommend taking a look at the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D. This is a great DC-to-DC, 25 amp battery charger that features dual-input that allows you to connect it to solar panels. When connected in this manner, this particular charger will automatically draw power from the panels before tapping into the vehicle power...

  • Can Fan on MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05301K Operate in Reverse
  • I spoke with my contact at MaxxAir regarding the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05301K that you referenced. He stated that the printed circuit board on this unit would not be able to handle reversing the polarity. Doing this would likely burn up the circuit board. Your best option is to go with the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K instead, which does feature a reversible fan that can bring air in or exhaust air out. Like the unit you were looking at, this fan is designed to fit...

  • Wire Size Used to Install MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/12V Fan & Thermostat MA00-05100K
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White Item # MA00-05100K only requires 12 volt, 5 amp power to operate so based on this 12 gauge wire would be overkill but 16 gauge such as # DW02359-1 sold by the foot is more ideal.

  • Can the MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-04000K be Left Open Without Rain Getting Inside
  • The only way to operate the MaxxAir MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-04000K without rain getting inside is to also install the MaxxAir II Rain Cover # MA00-933072. If you are wanting a single-piece unit that includes a rain cover and utilizes a thermostat and a manual lift then the MaxxAir MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-06200K for Smoke or # MA00-05100K for White is exactly what you are looking for. All of these roof vents come with mounting hardware but you will also need some...

  • Roof Air Conditioner for a 14 Foot by 8 Foot Camper
  • In order to cool your camper that much (30 degrees) you would have to have an air conditioner. A roof vent and fan such as # MA00-05100K won't do much at all to reduce the temperature in the camper. We do have some AC units available. For you I recommend a non-ducted unit that fits in the standard roof vent opening size (which is roughly 14-1/2 inches square) # AT15025-21. Another option is the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM150. Using an air conditioner is going to be...

  • Can I Use a Lighting Fixture Circuit to Power a MaxxFan 4000
  • What is the maximum amperage of the circuit for the lighting fixture you intend to use and what is the total amperage draw for the lights you have ran to that circuit? I would need to know this information in order determine if it has enough power for the MaxxFan 4000. The MaxxFan 4000 draws 5 amps so if the total amp draw for all of the lights you have on this circuit plus the vent fan does not exceed the maximum amperage of the circuit for the lighting fixture then you will be fine. • Roof Vent to Install Above Shower
  • Since you are needing a vent that sits above your shower you need one that doesn't have power. Roof vents that use electricity, like the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K, aren't built to resist the water that would be filtering through if installed above a shower. Because of this I recommend installing the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28 which operates manually and fits a standard 14" x 14" vent opening. If you would like to leave the vent open when it is raining...

  • The MaxxAir MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-05100K referenced in your question will simply connect to your RV's 12-volt wiring. Using the insulated electrical connectors provided with the Roof Vent, you will connect the RV's 12 volt power to the two power wires located on the driver side of the MaxxFan. • Solar Power Compatibility of MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe Vent
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-05100K requires a minimum 5 amp 12 volt DC service. My contact at MaxxAir could not give me the wattage or amperage draw at max power, but at minimum the amperage draw is 5 amps. To utilize solar power to charge your battery and allow 12V accessory functions, I recommend the CTEK D250S Dual Battery Charger 12V- 20a, 5 step, Heavy Duty # CTEK40186 designed to allow solar power input charging.

  • Power Requirements of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K that you referenced runs on 12 volts and draws 5 amps max. If your DC outlet can handle 5 amps then this would work but it would be right at the limit.

  • Will MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K Let In a Lot of Light
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K will let in more light than your AC unit did but not as much as a more traditional model such as # V2094SP-28. One thing is for sure: you will have more light with a roof vent/fan than you do with your AC up there!

  • What is the Power Source for MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-05100K requires a 12 volt power source. If there is no wiring where you are looking to install the vent you can run wire like # 12-1-1 to your vehicle battery or other wiring that will allow you a 5 amp draw (which is required for this vent). I have added a link to the installation instructions of this vent for you to check out as well.

  • Solar Powered Exhaust Fan Recommendation for Enclosed Trailer
  • If the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K were to totally lose its power source it would lose all of its presets like with a car stereo. When in use this will draw up to 5 amps so it would be pretty taxing on a solar panel without a battery backup. We do have the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered Plumbing Vent for Motor Homes # UF53-945001 which is a solar panel power exhaust fan that's totally self-contained. You'd just need to mount it and it would work on it's own.

  • Replacement Vent For Fan-Tastic Vent Model 4000BT
  • Yes, it looks like your existing Fan-Tastic Fan model 4000BT is a standard 14" wide x 14" long roof vent so the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat part # MA00-05100K would fit the opening for your old vent as long as the roof is 1-1/8" to 6-1/2" thick. I have attached an installation video for your reference. I recommend using the Roof Vent Installation Kit - Sealant, Butyl Tape, Screws - White # 344270KITW which will give you the sealant and screws needed.

  • MaxxAirFan Installation to Independent Car Battery
  • Your MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K will require a minimum of 5 amp service. I recommend installing a 15A inline fuse or 20 amp circuit breaker like # PK54220 to protect your fan components. The manual doesn't state anything about this setup, so it is simply my recommendation as precautionary. You can use # 16-1-1 wire and ring terminal # DW05737-1. I recommend butt connector # DW05744-5 to connect to fan power leads.

  • MaxxAir Roof Vent Recommendation with Remote Controller
  • If you have the MaxxAir Fan part # MA00-05100K like you mentioned the remote part # MA00A01150K is the correct replacement for it if it originally came with a remote. At some point this vent came with a remote and at others it did not. If you need a roof vent similar with a remote you'd want the part # MA00-07500K instead.

  • The best way to install the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-05100K that you referenced is to use the included screws and sealant to attach it to your pop up. Sealant alone would not be enough and we don't have a clamp on kit. For sealant then you'd want the part # 0160297.

  • What Power Source Does MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent Require and Does It Allow Light Into Camper
  • The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-06200K that you referenced needs a 12 volt power source so you are going to need to get 12 volts from the trailer's battery or circuit breaker panel so that it can operate. While the tinted cover of this does block out some light it allows quite a bit to pass through so it would add a bit of light to the interior of the camper when the sun is out. If instead you wanted no light to pass through you need the version of this...

  • Gauge Wire Recommendation for Powering Rooftop RV Fan

This is really the case with any of the roof mounted vents we have available.
