Automatic Rain Sensor

MaxxFan Plus Rain Sensor

The MaxxFan Plus has a rain sensor that detects when it starts to rain or snow. The sensor then automatically closes the roof vent and shuts the fan off, preventing the interior of your RV or trailer from getting wet. This allows you to leave your vent open and running without having to worry about the weather. Once the sensor has dried, you'll be able to open the vent and turn the fan back on. To deactivate the rain sensor, press the rain sensor button on the keypad.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Remote Control and Keypad

Remote for MaxxFan Plus

The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.

Keypad for MaxxFan Plus

Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat. The rain sensor can only be activated or deactivated from the keypad.

Powered-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Plus Dual Arms

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

This powered-lift dome opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

The dome has a sensor that will automatically shut off the lift motor when an obstruction is encountered or when the dome reaches the end of its travel. So, for example, if the dome cannot open all the way under your vent cover, a sensor will stop the dome once it has opened as far as it can.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

Very nice unit. I like having the remote (that this unit comes with) as it gives more programing options than the simple keypad on the bottom of the unit. Installed in less than a hour or so and works great. 629788

I watch a youtube channel called "Big Truck Big RV." You sponsor this channel. This person speaks very highly of your company. I know he is compensated to, but he always gives his honest opinion. I respect his opinion and when I need to replace a faulty MAXX Air Fan, I decided to look at etrailer. The price seemed fair. It was pulled from the warehouse, shipped, and received within days. I have not opened the fan yet because I am waiting for a time when I can install it. I have confidence that if I have any issue that etrailer will help me. I am looking forward to working more with your company. 900790

Works great, love the remote idea, remote holster covered old holes great, just wished the remote came in color choices like beige or white. 814632

I love etrailer about 90% of the time. The other 10% is when I attempted to order keyed alike locks. It all ended ok but was a pain. In any case this is a review about a maxxfan 4500k. Let me just start by saying etrailers price was $125 higher than a competitors and they were willing to price match it. So a solid A+ on price matching. The box came just as it would if you bought it off the shelf. No additional packaging which is fine. I’ve had this same fan before and it works great. Thanks again for the price match etrailer. The fan will go in next week when I redo my RV roof on my Montana 3750fl. 807923

- MA00-04500K

This beats Fantastic in my opinion. Just took the motor apart to clean, that is a good thing. The features and remote are everything I could want. If you want to really clear the air 100% really works, but it can also run smoothly and very quiet at 10%. I would put a hole in my roof for this fan. 804688

- MA00-04500K

looks good - not installed yet but have a couple more in already. A new minisplit ac and heat pump replaces the old rooftop rattler. Cant reach without a step stool so need remote. After 5 years have achieved heating and air conditioning heaven in my 5th whl.! E Trailer is the best outfit around, their photos and videos cover the product well so you know exactly what youre paying for! The fan-tastiks are good units too but a little overpriced these days. 772921

- MA00-04500K

Great product, great service! I made an order with several items in one and someone personally called me to let me know 1 item might take a little longer than expected to receive. I still got everything fast. I have 2 of these fans installed now. I have them set to automatically exhaust hot air in the summer when it is over 85 degrees in the camper, hoping to extend it's life, especially the adhesive in the floors, ceiling and wallpaper. 717559

- MA00-04500K

I purchased 2 MaxxAir fans about a year ago & I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! My husband and I installed them ourselves, which was a bit of a task but still doable. Removing the old adhesive before installing the new fan was the hardest part. They aren't cheap, so I was a little hesitate before buying, but they have proven to be worth every penny! I'm actually on a cross country road trip right now, using these wonderful fans everyday since I hit the road in August. They're great for blowing out the hot air after a hot day, cooling off the rv when it gets a bit too warm inside or when you just need a little circulation. The rain sensors are so incredibly helpful and work great! The lids are a bit noisy when they open and close, but once the lid stops moving, the fan isn't that distracting at all, especially on the lower settings. I highly recommend the MaxxAir Fans! 713853

- MA00-04500K

Absoutely LOVE this fan with remote control as I am only 4'11" and can't reach the manual ones.! 702829

- MA00-04500K

Great fan for RV. Use it daily to draw fresh air from outside. Remote makes it so easy to operate. Best buy ever for RV use. 697714

- MA00-04500K

Easy to install, has worked great! It's so much nicer than our old fan, with it's variable fan speed, and digital thermostat control! Well worth the price! 697125

- MA00-04500K

Great product. Easy install. Makes a huge difference in my camper’s internal air circulation. The remote control turns it into one-button operation. Press a button, and it both opens AND starts the fan. Same to close it. Highly recommend it m 692836

- MA00-04500K

I have 200w of solar panels running this. Comes on automatically when it gets warm (vent opens and fan runs). Fan runs slower when temperature differential is small and runs faster when it needs to. Vent closes automatically and fan shuts off when rain is detected. Stays closed until reset. Fan can be set to pull air in. Can use the remote control to set the temperature of your choice. Remote is optical. 681489

- MA00-04500K

Easy to install . Works great. Really q uiet. 680730

- MA00-04500K

Straight forward install. Have not used it out in the field yet but the fan worked great under testing. 680542

I have had this installed for a year now and have had a few opportunities to use it. So far, So good! The fan does an excellent job of pulling air out of the coach or bringing air in. One draw back is that you have to have the remote fairly close and pointed right at the fan for it to work. Otherwise it works great.

- MA00-04500K

Very easy install, the hardest part was peeling the old one off. Added a lot of circulation through the camper. Thinking about buying another one for the bedroom. 673731

Still working very good! No problems at all

Received products quickly! I did have a question regarding the wiring and called to verify since our old bathroom fan had more wiring. Within minutes it was hooked up and ready to go. They only product I would suggest to get is Butyl Tape or proper sealant before starting, saves time. We used Butyl Tape and its working great. The features on this fan are wonderful and love having a remote control. I did mount the base for it just beneath the existing switches, as the original on/off switch needs to remain on for remote to work properly. When the remote is in the holder it covers the switch. There are two features that I have experienced and love about this unit. 1) Temperature control settings and 2) Fan can be reversed bring in fresh air. We also installed the MaxxAir II RV and Trailer Roof Vent Cover - 22-3/4" x 18-1/2" x 9-3/8" - White - MA00-933072 because we like leaving the vent open at times when rv is not in use and not hooked up to electricity. This prevents weather elements from entering and also keeping birds from using it as a nesting site. 666344

This fan is wonderful! It is working as well as the day we installed it. Highly recommend this fan!

  • MaxxFan 2016 Keystone Montana Model 3710FL Won't Stop Running
If your MaxxFan with the rain sensor, like part # MA00-04500K, starts operating automatically and the controller or the controls on the unit aren't working then that sounds like a bad circuit board or that the built-in safety feature for too much (or not enough) voltage was activated and the circuit board locked up. Since you already removed power from the vent try connecting it back to power. If it works properly then it was just locked up and needed to be disconnected from power to unlock...

I have attached an image pointing out the sensor that you can check out as well. When the sensor detects rain (or snow) it will automatically close the vent and shut the fan off to prevent the interior of your RV or trailer from getting wet. This means you can leave the vent open and running without having to worry about what...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir Vent Fan that Won't Turn On and Rain Sensor Light On
I spoke with my contact at MaxxAir regarding your vent like the MaxxFan # MA00-04500K. He said what you are experiencing might be caused by a short in the rain sensor. Since that light is coming off and on, this is likely the issue and what is also causing the fan not to turn on. He recommended taking a rag with some rubbing alcohol and simply cleaning out this sensor. Hopefully once it is cleaned out, everything should start working again as normal. If you are still having issues,...

  • Roof Vent Lid will Open but Not Close with Remote on MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent Assembly
Is there a clicking noise when the "close" button on the remote is pressed? Does the fan stop moving when the "close" button on the remote is pressed? If you hear a clicking noise then the motor is likely faulty but if the fan doesn't stop moving then the issue is likely a fault in the circuit board. If the unit was just purchased then I recommend contacting the vendor to have a warranty claim filed.

  • Rain Sensor On MaxxFan Plus Blinking and Fan Is Not Working
It sounds like the rain sensor is shorting out on the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent part # MA00-04500K since it is blinking and the vent is not working properly. According to MaxxFan if you clean the sensor with a rag and rubbing alcohol it should start working again. Please let me know if this doesn't help and we can troubleshoot further.

  • Trailer Roof Vent Recommendation for Auto Close with Rain
We have the MaxxAir roof vent part # MA00-04500K. It has a remote control, thermostat, and rain sensor that will automatically lower the lid when it rains. You'll have to reopen it when the rain stops as the rain sensor is covered by the lid and would not be able to sense dry weather.

  • Solution for Wanting to Convert MaxxFan Roof Vent with Manual Lid to Powered Lid
Since there isn't a way to convert a MaxxFan from a manual lift lid to a powered lift lid you'd have to replace what you have with the part # MA00-04500K that you referenced. Replacing the entire roof vent would be easier than trying to replace components of it as well.

  • Recommended Vent Fan for Truck Cap to Allow Ventilation for Dogs
The MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus - Smoke # MA00-04500K will work on your fiberglass truck cap, but highway speeds will not allow it to stay open. The remote will work fine from inside you truck cab. If you want to be able to drive the highway speeds, I recommend the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - Smoke # MA00-07500K. This will keep your dogs safe as long as you have the 12V power on even when you are away from your vehicle. This will...

  • Rain Sensor Will Not Allow MaxxFan 4501K to Work Properly
Yes, according to my contact at MaxxFan you can simply unplug the connector for the rain sensor from the circuit board in order to bypass it. They were not able to provide me with the location of the connector you will need to remove but if you trace the wires from the sensor to the circuit board that should tell you which one it is. If the fan works once the rain sensor is removed then you know that was the issue but if the fan still does not operate there is an issue with the circuit...
