This Fan-Tastic Vent roof vent has a built-in 12V fan that pushes stale air out of your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A hand knob makes it easy to open and close the dome. And you can easily change the fan speed with the speed knob on the vent housing.

Ceiling Vent and Fan with 3 Speeds

Air out your RV after cooking and keep the air smelling fresh. Turn the speed knob on the vent housing to increase or decrease the fan speed. There are 3 speeds: low, medium, and high. This way, you can select the speed that you find most comfortable.

Installation

This vent requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening in your trailer's roof and ceiling. To replace an old vent, install this vent into the existing opening. If your roof does not already have a vent, you will need to mark and cut an opening between roof joists to install this unit. And the 2-wire design makes it easy to have your vent hooked up and ready for use.

Video Transcript for Fantastic Vent RV Vents and Fans - Roof Vent - FV801200 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number FV801200. This is the Fantastic Vent roof vent with a twelve volt fan built in. This is going to help push the old air out of your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. It's going to feature a variable speed fan that's going to offer three speeds to boost or reduce the air flow as needed. I'm going to flip it over that way you can see the controls here on the bottom. Right here you're going to have your hand crank. This is going to open or close the dome on the top of the vent.

On this side right here that small area is going to be where the fuse is being held. That's where the fuse is installed and then this right here is going to be the hand knob to control the speed of the fan. You're going to have your low, medium and high speed. It's also going to feature a pop out screen that's going to keep insects out and easily detaches for cleaning when needed. I'm going to separate these two pieces so this area right here, this would be the area that would sit in between the ceiling and the roof of your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. Two piece design.

That screen piece that I was talking about is this piece right here and then you can see when I operate the knob, it's going to open up that vent or excuse me it's going to open up the dome. You can see the fan blades in here. This is going to feature ten clear fan blades so that's still going to allow plenty of sunlight to come into your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. This right here, the dome is going to be a smoke colored dome made from a polyethylene construction. It's going to filter UV rays while still allowing light into your camper. Very simple installation. It's going to feature a two wire design.

White wire is going to be for your ground connection. Black wire is going to be for your power. All your hardware is included. It's going to come with some extension pieces of wire. Now the wire coming out of the housing, so the wire that I have in my hand, this is going to measure about twenty-two inches long.

The wires in the hardware pack, those are going to measure about twenty-six inches long. It's going to come with all the screws to get everything installed and it's going to come with some butt connectors that way you can easily connect your wires. This product is going to be fully made in the USA. It's designed for RV's, campers and trailers with roofs up to four inches thick. This piece right here, this is what's called the interior trim piece. It's going to have four mount holes, one on each corner. This is the piece that you're going to be able to see from inside your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. It's got a nice design. It's white. It's going to match a lot of interiors out there and it just adds a nice finished look to the installation. Again, these two pieces are going to fit into one another. This unit is going to fit your standard fourteen inch by fourteen inch opening in the ceiling and roof. Now the center area that goes into the ceiling, we're going to go over just some specific measurements real quick. Measuring from outside edge to outside edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about thirteen and three quarters of an inch. Measuring outside edge to outside edge right here at the flange so overall width, that's going to give us a measurement of about sixteen and one quarter of an inch. Now these mount holes on the corner, this is a square design but the mount holes on the corners, those are going to be separated on center by fifteen and one sixteenth of an inch. When this is fully installed, your vent is going to be extended above the roof. When it's in the closed position by four and a half inches and when it's fully open it's going to extend above the roof by eleven and a half inches. I'm going to go ahead and fit these two pieces back together. Another thing I want to point out is right here around the closure point of the dome, it's going to be a nice rubberized gasket. It's going to help keep all that moisture out. All the things that we don't want getting in. So when this is closed, that creates a nice tight seal. That way it keeps all that unwanted stuff out from our RV, camper, enclosed trailer. Now when it comes to the fan capacity on high, that's at nine twenty SCFM, which is going to be your standard cubic feet per minute of air flow and the power draw on high is at three amps, medium is six hundred and fifty-three SCFM, power draw at two point two nine amps and on low that's four hundred and seventy-eight SCFM with a power draw of one point eight six amps. Now to replace your old vent and install this vent you just do so in the existing opening. If your roof does not already have a vent, you'll need to mark and cut an opening between the roof joists to install this unit but again, all your hardware is included. I do want to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source that way you can kind of hear how quiet the fan actually is. So with our power connected go ahead and turn it on low. It's going to send out really good air flow. You can't even really hear it when it's on low. When it's on medium it increases in noise just a little bit but still not very noticeable. So we just went from medium to high and you can kind of hear the difference there but it's still a very quiet fan even when it's all the way on high. That's going to do it for today's review of part number FV801200. This is the Fantastic Roof Vent with a twelve volt fan.

First off, I'd like to thank etrailer. I've shopped with this company for awhile and never been disappointed. As for the product in review, it's certainly built well and though I haven't installed it yet, I think it'll work just fine. 682992

Live in Arizona and installed the vent fan in a converted box truck to a work vehicle. Strong enough to create a slight breeze in the box while loading / unloading. Definitely helps. Good product 619102

We used this Fantastic Fan in our remote off grid rustic cabin. It is mounted in the wall instead of the roof. It functions perfectly to pull air through our cabin and it uses only a small amount of power from our 12v battery bank. I have always had very good luck with Fantastic Fans and etrailer. I highly recommend both. Brad 321211

I hesitated to cut a hole in my roof, but once that was done, installation was fast and simple. Made a big difference in sleeping on warm nights without the air conditioner running all night. 392142

We no longer have the travel trailer we put this in, but I am happy to review anyway, because I really appreciate etrailer as a company. This fan didn't really live up to our expectations. It does move a good amount of air, enough for our 175sf space, and it was very easy to install into the existing vent space. I would recommend, however, choosing instead one with a thermostat. This would be a great feature that would make it shut off at night once it's reached a reasonably cool temperature. More importantly, the fan wasn't as quiet as we expected. It is likely that something was wrong with the motor, because after ensuring the blades were free of any debris and were clean, it still ran too loud for what it is. Lastly, I recommend getting the extra Maxx Fan/Vent Cover to put over top of this. Otherwise, any time the cover is open and there is even a light breeze, the cover will bounce up and down and make noise. All this said, bear in mind this is the cheapest one. In the future, we would have chosen differently. 484940

My Fan-Tasic roof vent arrived in a timely manor.I will be installing it on my 2006 ford van when weather allows. It might be a bit of a challenge as the van is a hightop with a ceiling insert. Will post when completed. 607197

Fan and vent work great, the only reason I marked four stars is because there is a small gap on the inside of the bathroom ceiling and the casing and it is not as powerful as my previous fan. I have 2004 Jayco Jay flight, so maybe the roof angle is just off or the camper shop didn't line everything up perfectly when installing. Minor cosmetic issue that does not affect how good it works. etrailer shipped fast and I will shop there again. 431212

This vent is far better than Maxx Fax. U.S. made and quality shows through and through. It also runs very quiet and draws less power with similar speed setting as the Maxx Fan; how do I know this? Because with the Fantastic Fan continuously running in my travel travel overnight using two deep cycle batteries which are charged during the day by a 400W solar penal still have lots of juice left in the morning whereas the with MaxxFan running all night it completely drains the bettery and I hear the annoying beeping sound from my inverter. Go with Fantastic, just be sure to close the lid before you hit the road. 543695

2 items broke on this not-so-fantastic fan within the first 6 months. First the lift lever mechanism broke and the lid would not stay open. Second the on/off switch quit. Had to contact manufacturer for new lift lever. They must be familiar with problem because they knew exactly what to send me, no questions asked. When the switch broke I opted to replace with a reversible variable speed switch I bought independently. Again the manufacturer probably would have sent me switch....but why am I continually having the fix this thing? Piece of [garbage]. 768197

  • Difference Between Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 and # FV801208
The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # FV801200 and the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent - Clamp On # FV801208 referenced in your question are indeed extremely similar to each other. These are both variable-speed, 12-volt roof vent fans designed for a rough opening size of 14-1/4 inch x 14-1/4 inch. As far as the units themselves, these products are virtually identical. The only real difference between the two models is the manner in which they install. The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent -...

  • Is There a Correct Size for a Fan-Tastic Roof Vent on a Haulmark Edge Trailer?
Based on my research, your Haulmark Edge race trailer has a standard 14" x 14" roof vent, which requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening. If you are concerned about roof thickness, the Fan-Tastic vent's roof garnish - such as the one in the photo that I've attached - can be trimmed to meet your specifications. The only thing left for you to do is choose which vent you prefer. The most popular of our Fan-Tastic roof vents is # FV801200, which has a manual-speed knob to let you control airflow....

  • Will Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 Fit in the Roof of a Ram Promaster Van
Technically you could install the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 in the roof of your Promaster van. But because the roofs on vehicles are much thinner than those on RVs or trailers the vent assembly will stick down a few inches from the roof/ceiling. The Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent # VP-543SP isn't as large but would be a better fit in your Promaster. I have linked a video of it for you.

This is calculated using the following formula: Amps = Watts รท Volts OR Watts = Amps x Volts

  • Can Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 Install on a Roof that is Up to 1/4 Inch Thick
I spoke with our shop manager and he said that you could install Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 on a 1/4 inch thick roof but you will have to cut the included garnish way down. There are components of the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # FV801200 that are metal like the linkage that holds the lid open, the motor, and various fasteners that hold it all together. To remove the fan blade of a Fan Tastic Roof Vent you will need to first remove the screen on the underside. You will want to then remove the vent cover lid from the outside of the trailer as well. There are four screws from the top of the cover that hold the blade and motor to the top of the vent housing. You will be able to remove the motor and blade at this point. There is then an allen wrench screw sized 3/32 inch that will need to be loosened on the shaft of the fan that will...

  • Will a Fan-Tastic Powered Roof Vent Replace a Ventline Powered Roof Vent
The Fan-Tastic Vent part # FV801200 would work well as a replacement to the Ventline powered roof vent that you have. It also uses 2 wires for operation so it would just be a matter of wiring the new fan to the old wiring. This will also fit the same size opening as your current vent.

  • Size of Hole Needed to Install the Fan-Tastic Roof Vent FV801200
Rough cut openings for roof vents have a bit of wiggle room on the dimension. Between 14 inch and 14-1/4 inch would work well with the Fan-Tastic roof vent part # FV801200.

  • Is Hardware and Sealant Included With Fan-Tastic Roof Vent Fan # FV801200
The Fan-Tastic Roof vent fan you mentioned includes the mounting hardware, but no sealant. I'd recommend using the TemPro Silicone Sealant, part # 0160297 to provide a strong but flexible seal between the vent and the roof of your RV or trailer.
