Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at the Superwinch LP, 10,012 volt off-road winch with the wire rope, the roller fairlead, and has a 10,000 pound rated line pull. Now this is a nice off-road winch. It's designed to accommodate the needs of an entry level four by four and utility customer who needs substantial pulling power. Over here, it uses a 12 volt DC 5.1 horsepower weather sealed series wound motor, has a 10,000 line pull rating.
Does use an all steel three stage planetary gear box over here, gives you a gear ratio of 235/1 and it is a nice rugged construction. It'll stand up distress and torque. And it quickly and quietly turns the drum. On top here of the gears, you can see there's a lever action, free spooling clutch. This allows the user to quickly disengage the motor and manually draw out as much winch rope as needed at any time.Basically, you can see now this handle is pointing back towards me and it's saying engaged.
That means it's engaged. So you can operate it with your remote. If you rotate that 180 degrees, it'll be disengaged, then you can pull out as much wire rope as you need. And then when you're ready to engage it, just switch the lever all the way back. The rope on this, it's a 3/8 inch diameter by 85 foot long steel wire rope.
It's very strong and durable, does include this nice 3/8 inch removable clevis latched hook, and comes with the nice nylon hand saver strap also. This goes through a heavy duty steel four way, roller fairlead, which protects the wire rope from damage by reducing friction and wear on your wire rope. You can see it has two vertical rollers and two horizontal rollers. This winch does use an automatic mechanical load holding brake, which means it eliminates the drag when you're pulling in the cable and it reduces creak when you're letting out the cable. On top of the motor right up here, it has this nice weather sealed solenoid, reduces the possibility of damage from any rain, snow, and blowing dust. And it does come with this nice rubber handheld remote with the 12 foot long cord.
Just to let you operate the winch from a safe distance. Basically, you just use the toggle switch right here on the remote to power the load in and out. You can see up, it'll be out, down, it'll be in. And does have a nice rubber coating on it to help protect it. And the way you connected it right up here is you just pop open this dust cover. It's a three-prong and there's a notch there that you just line up and then push it on. And then just like that, you're ready to operate it. And then when you're done using it, just pull the plug off there, put your cap back on and you're ready to go.This does use a nice steel body, has a nice black finish or just sturdy and corrosion resistant. You notice they have these steel tie bars and hardware that adds strength and structural rigidity to the body. Does come with the circuit breakers. And if I turn this around, you can see also has the color coded battery wiring, which is included for installation. And it's a two gauge wire for your battery. And it does come with the mounting hardware to install your winch. Comes with a nice owner's manual, that'll describe how it operates, how everything hooks up.A few specs on this, the rate is line pull, with just a single layer of wire rope around the drum is 10,000 pounds. The motor, we mentioned, it's a 12 volt DC motor. Few specs on the motor, the line pull at zero pounds, the power draw would be 90 amps, line speed is 16 feet per minute. And then the line pull at the maximum 10,000 pounds, the power draw is going to be 350 amps, line speed will be one and a half feet per minute. Winch weight on this is about 83 pounds.Last thing I want to do is just give you some dimensions. The overall width from this end, all the way over to this end is going to be right at 20 and three eight inches long. The height from the bottom to the tallest part right up here is going to be nine and three quarter inches tall. And then overall width, not including the fairlead, so just of the winch itself. And so that's going to be right about six inches wide. But that should do it for the review on the Superwinch LP, 10,012 volt off-road winch with the wire rope, the roller fairlead and a 10,000 pound rated line pool.
