Video Transcript for Curt Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - C45336 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C-45336. This is the Curt ball mount for 2 inch hitches. This one is going to offer a 10,000 pound gross towing weight and a 1000 pound maximum towing weight capacity. The heavy duty ball mount is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. You've got the nice ball platform right here. This is going to provide a good mounting point for your hitch ball.

If you don't already have a hitch ball, you can purchase here one at etrailer.com. They are going to be sold separately. Then you're going to have the shank portion right here, now this is going to be the portion of the mount that slides into the receiver tube of your hitch. It's going to hold the ball mount actually in place with the 5/8th inch pinhole. It does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock.

Those items are sold separately. If you need to pick some of those up as well, you can look underneath the related products on this product's product page. You can use this mount in either of the drop or rise positions. Both are available to help ensure a level tow. It's going to feature a hollow shank, but this is made from a sturdy steel construction.

It's going to feature a nice corrosion-resistant, high gloss, black powder coat finish. This ball mount is made in the USA. It's designed for 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. A couple measurements to go over with you real quick. The distance that we have from the center of the hitch pinhole to the center of the hitch ball hole, that's going to give us a measurement of about 9 and 3/8ths of an inch.

Another measurement to keep in mind, when using this in the rise position, you want to make sure that you have enough room from the lip of your hitch to the closest point here of the ball mount. Sometimes when they have the angled braces on here, this can interfere with the rear-most part of your vehicle, like your bumper or again, the lip, or anything that's extending out from your vehicle. The measurement that we have from this point here to the center of the hitch pinholes, I'm going to measure 4 and 1/4 of an inch. You can see how that's angled, so that measurement will increase the higher up we go on the brace. From the base of the weld to the center of the hitch pinhole, that's going to measure about 4 inches. Just a precaution to keep in mind, and you can go out to your vehicle and double check to make sure that you're not going to have any interference issues if you do want to use this in the rise position. Here on the actual mount, Curt has a sticker right here on the face. It's going to say that we have a drop of 6 inches and a rise of 4 and 3/4 of an inch. These are rounded are measurements. When I took a measurement of the actual drop, the measurement from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform, I got a drop measurement of 6 and 1/8th of an inch. When I did the measurement in the rise position, basically measuring from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform, I got a rise of 5 inches. This mount is going to give us a ball hole diameter of 1 inch and 1/4. Keep that measurement in mind when choosing a hitch ball. You want to make sure the shank of the hitch ball matches up with the ball hole diameter on the mount that you choose. It's going to feature a draw bar thickness of 3/4 of an inch, and Curt's going to cover this with a limited life time warranty. Real quick, I am just going to show you how easy it is to install in your hitch. We have a receiver here today. Simply going to take the shank, and slide it in to our 2 inch by 2 inch receiver. We've got our pinholes lined up, then I'm just going to secure it with our hitch pin an clip. That's going to do it for our review of part number C-45336. This is the Curt ball mount for 2 inch hitches. .

Its still fine and did exactly what I wanted, except the ball began to rust immediately. But I was able to tow my camper level. But due to a back injury, in the Navy in 1976, I had to sell it

Perfect size drop hitch for my 2015 Escalade to tow my surfboat. Welds look great and so does the powder coat, arrived fast and was packaged great. Only thing I noticed was the description says its a 6-1/8 drop but the label on the hitch says 6". Not a big deal 188733

Do you have a question about this Ball Mount?

  • Ball Mount with 5 Inch Rise for a Class III Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Nissan Murano
  • There are numerous ball mounts that will fit your Class III trailer hitch and that have a 5 inch rise that you can use to tow the trailer level with your 2015 Nissan Murano. Ball mount # C45014 will not work because it does not fit a Class III hitch. It is too small. I recommend # C45336. It has a 5 inch rise and is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight (limited to the capacity of the hitch or tow vehicle, whichever is lower). This ball mount has a 1-1/4 inch diameter ball hole....

  • Ball Mount Needed with a 5 inch Rise for Use with a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas
  • A high-low adapter like the Roadmaster Adapter # RM-076 that you referenced is designed for use with a flat towing setup, but I do have a solution for you to tow your trailer level with your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. If the 10-1/2 inch measurement that you took of the hitch receiver on your Atlas is from the ground to the top of the inside of your 2 inch receiver, like the Curt # C13366, then you will need a ball mount that has at least a 5 inch rise as rise and drop measurements typically...

  • Ball Mount to Use with Weigh Safe Stainless Steel Hitch Ball with Built-In Scale WSUN-1
  • The Weigh Safe Stainless Steel Hitch Ball with Built-In Scale # WSUN-1 requires that the ball mount it is used with has a 3/4-inch thick ball platform. The B&W 2-1/2-inch Ball Mount # BWBMHD30214 that you referenced has a ball platform that is 1-inch thick so it will not work with this ball. Same holds for part # AMSCV-6. Sine this hitch ball is rated to 10K, the larger and heavier-duty 2-1/2-inch ball mounts like those noted above, which are rated for much more weight, will be too...

  • How to Find the Correct Ball Mount for 2014 Land Rover
  • I can tell you exactly how to find the correct ball mount for your 2014 Range Rover. What you'll want to do is make sure your Land Rover and trailer are each parked on level ground. Then measure from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver. Also measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler. If the hitch height is greater, you need a ball mount with drop. If the coupler height is greater, you'll need a ball mount with rise. You will also also want a draw bar with...

  • How to Choose the Correct Ball Mount for a 2017 Subaru Forester
  • In order to choose the correct ball mount you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside edge on the vehicle's receiver tube opening and then compare that to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. The distance between these two measurements will give you the correct amount of rise/drop you will need to look for in a ball mount. For a ball mount with a 5" rise I recommend part # C45336 and for a ball mount with a 6" rise...

  • Ball Mount with 5 Inch Rise for 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • We have numerous ball mounts that offer at or around 5 inches of rise! For a basic ball mount with a 5 inch rise you can use Curt ball mount # C45336. It is rated for a maximum of 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 1,000 pounds tongue weight. It measures 9-3/8 long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. The ball hole is 1-1/4 inches in diameter. For a ball with the proper size shank to fit that hole you can use # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16...

  • Will a Ball Mount with More Rise Reduce a Vehicle's Sag
  • Switching your ball mount to one with a 5 inch rise, like the Curt # C45336, will help level your trailer but it won't take the sag out of your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The trailer's tongue weight will still be pushing the rear of the vehicle down. To actually eliminate the sag you may be able to load the trailer with less tongue weight however that could cause additional sway if the trailer's tongue weight is then too low. The best solution is to add a weight distribution system. If...

  • 2-Inch Ball Mount with 5-Inches of Rise Rated for at Least 7500-lbs
  • For a 2-inch ball mount that provides at least 7500-lb capacity along with your required minimum rise of 4-1/4-inches I suggest the Curt forged ball mount # C45342 rated for 17K or part # C45336 rated for 10K. These and other ball mounts are shown on the linked page.

  • Will Reese Sway Control Bracket RP26003 and Ball Mount # C45336 Fit Hitch Ball # 40038
  • The shank length of the hitch ball part # 40038 that you referenced is 2-1/4 inches long. That would easily be long enough to fit through the ball mount # C45336 and the Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003. You will need a bushing part # 58184 though since the ball mount hole diameter is slightly larger.

  • Ball Mount with 5-1/4 Inch Rise and 1 Inch Diameter Ball Hole for a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • Rise or drop doesn't have to be exact. If you can get it within 1 inch you will be just fine. We have # DTBM4600 which has a 5 inch rise and has a 1 inch diameter ball hole. Another option with the same specs is # AM3507. Or another option is to use # C45336 with bushing # F-2. The bushing acts as a spacer allowing you to use a 1 inch diameter ball shank in a 1-1/4 inch ball hole.
