Video Transcript for K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Today in our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the K-Source custom extendable towing mirrors. These are for manual mirror applications and take care of the driver and passenger side. Part number is KS62077-78G. Now here's what our full replacement towing mirrors are going to look like installed. As you can see, we have the added benefit of a much larger mirror, plus we've got our spotter mirror here on the bottom, which it's going to be really really nice when it comes to towing. These are geared more towards your everyday towing situation or somebody that would do towing and hauling, either on a very regular basis or somebody that goes out camping a lot. These are going to prevent us from having to take off and put on our towing mirrors every time we want to go.

We're still going to keep the break away feature, the fold in feature. That's going to go both ways, which is really nice. Getting in garages, parking spots, things like that, it's going to be a little bit easier in those tighter parking situations. They've got a really nice finish to them. Very very similar to what the factory finish is. As you can see, this is going to be a complete replacement.

It fits right in to the factory edges of the vehicle, uses factory attachment points, factory hardware, so it's just super easy to get these things on and off. inaudible 00:01:25 you'll probably be 20-25 minutes getting both sides put on the vehicle. Really nice and straightforward. From the original mounting location out to the end of our towing mirrors we're looking at 18 1/2 inches. We've got an addition 4 inches there that we can use. We can bring this out to about 22 1/2 inches total.

In this position up against your vehicle it's going to give you a much nicer wider field of view, especially with the spotter mirror down here and the larger factory style mirror that we've got here. This extra 4 inches in getting this out further, that's going to allow us to not necessarily look at the back of our trailer, but it's going to help us to see where that back corner is a little more easy. The further we come out from the vehicle the better angle we have so we can pinpoint that exact rear corner location. Now here we are at the back corner of our trailer just to give you an idea of the field of view difference that we get. Typically with our factory mirrors we're going to get into about this location before you start to kind of lose it, but as you can see we've got another couple steps here. We can come over, still stay in view of that mirror and just extend that line of sight out much easier. Now in the extended position you see we've got a little bit more of a triangulation. That helps us to pinpoint the back corner of this trailer and know exactly where it's going to be located.

Again, it's still going to give us the big benefit of being able to see further over this direction. That way we can go out another few steps here, still keep in the line of sight, and be able to see where that back corner of that trailer is without having to really stretch around, really wrench our neck. In that blind spot mirror, the spotter mirror on the bottom, you can see that's really going to give us even more coverage. It gets us out here really far, regardless of whether we're trying to see the back corner of that trailer, or maybe we just want to check out this area. This is your typical blind spot area where you can't see the hoods of the cars, you can't see the cars that are beside you and as you go to change lanes become an obstacle. This is going to allow you to do both extend your field of view quite a bit back there for your trailer and keep up with those blind spots all in one function. Installation today is going to be really pretty simple, pretty straightforward to do. The first step's going to be to remove this black triangular shape piece. It's held on with a small clip here at the top, here at the bottom, and then over on this edge. If you can, you just want to grip into that edge and kind of just pull out gently from behind. You'll see one, two, and three clips are separated there. Now and behind there there's a little bit of a pocket. There's a piece of foam that's tucked into that pocket and we want to get that moved out of the way. We'll see one, two, and three attachment points located in behind there. I'm using a 10mm socket. What I want to do is go in and loosen those nuts up. This top one, I'm going to bring it out most of the way loose, but I'm going to leave it still attached. That's going to act as just like a hanger there. We need to pull out gently on the side panel. By pulling out on that we can get our wrench in behind there, also get those nuts loosened up. We can completely remove those by hand. Don't drop them down into your door panel there because the new mirrors don't come with the hardware, so you're going to need them. If your vehicle is equipped with power mirrors there's going to be a plug there that you want to separate. That'll plug right into our new towing mirrors. inaudible 00:05:19 that top one off, it's a pretty easy process of just gently pulling outward there. You'll see as you remove them there's going to be one little pressure clip there at the top, so your best bet is to kind of tilt down on your mirror to get that to separate and then we can just pull it straight out. I have three attachment points. Our new mirror is going to have the foam pad on it that we need, so we don't have to worry about getting that off of the other mirror. We'll just align those three bolts in the three holes. Once we get those lined up let's get our nuts threaded back on. 10mm again and get those tightened back up. All right, nice and secure. There's one alignment tab there we want to have setup and then just pop in on our panel. Put our foam block back in there. Then we line up the tabs on our triangle shaped piece and then pop it back in. That's going to complete our look at the K-Source custom extendable towing mirrors for the driver and passenger side with manual operation. Part number KS62077-78G, on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

These mirrors are great quality very close to OEM . The installation went very well. I did take the door panel off to make it easier to get to the two lower fasteners, just to make sure I didn't loose the nuts inside door. There was very little vibration in the mirrors, I was a little worried about that by reading previous reviews. The mirrors held their positions, folded nicely when parked in tight spots. Everything said this is a great quality product 389886

I was very impressed with the purchase of the Mirrors for the recently purchased used 2012 Chev 3500 dually. The mirrors on the truck were not original and were a definite hazard. The dealer agreed to put on what ever mirrors we wanted at no charge as a condition of purchase. We had priced mirrors a various places and some were cheaper while others were quite a bit more expensive. I was impressed with the entire experience from the web site to the call to Stacy to the purchase to the shipping and follow-up. The mirrors are excellent quality the service was great. We would highly recommend this company Plan on doing further business with them. 598245

Mirrors were easily installed after we received all the parts. We called the customer service and explained what was missing in our order. The service employee was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The missing part was quickly expedited to us. The mirrors have proven to be an asset when pulling either our travel trailer or utility trailer. Great value for the price. 518553

Ask the Experts about this K Source Custom Towing Mirrors

Do you have a question about this Custom Towing Mirror?

  • What is the Difference Between K-Source and Fit System Towing Mirrors for a 2011 Chevy Suburban
  • Fit System is the economy brand of K Source. There are several brand names under the K Source umbrella. The K Source models seem to be the higher quality option. K Source mirrors # KS62093-94G for your 2011 Chevy Suburban have electric operation, heat, and turn signals. There is a less expensive set, # KS62077-78G, which has manual operation but no other options.

  • Towing Mirrors for 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab
  • My contacts at K-Source have confirmed that the # KS62077-78G mirrors are a fit for the 2008 GMC Sierra. These are manual mirrors, and will not electrically adjust. The mirrors use the factory mounting locations, so they look like OEM towing mirrors, not something that was slapped on there as an afterthought. If your OEM mirrors are power-adjustable, are heated and have the turn signals in the mirror face, part # KS62093-94G would retain those features for you.

  • Towing Mirrors Made in The USA That Fit a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado New Body
  • I spoke with my contact at K-Source, and they stated that the towing mirrors, like the KS62077-78G you referenced, are not manufactured in the United States. Instead we offer the CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors that are made in the United States, and fit your 2007 Silverado New Body. The mirror for the driver side is part # 10901. The mirror for the passenger side is part # 10902. These require no tools for installation and slip over the existing mirrors on your Silverado. I have linked you...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD without Turn Signals
  • Since you do not have turn signal functions on your current mirrors the towing mirrors we can offer for your 2008 GMC Sierra would not allow you to gain that function. If your current mirrors are manual mirrors you would need the part # KS62077-78G which is a confirmed fit. The mirrors that would feature turn signals in them are the part # KS62093-94G. • Can Turn Signal Functions be Added by Switching to Towing Mirrors for a 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD
  • If the stock mirrors on your 2011 GMC Sierra 3500 do not have a turn signal function then that function cannot be added even if the towing mirrors have it. There is the outside chance that the wiring and other provisions for the turn signals in the towing mirrors to function is already present on the truck but I cannot guarantee that so if you plug in and mount the towing mirrors and the signals do not work then the truck is just not set up for it. If they do work then that's a bonus! For...
