Very nice looking piece for the front of the truck. I just wish the throat of the mounting brackets had been deeper so it wouldn't try to keep twisting off as you're tightening the grille to the bumper.1742625

Installed on 2016 Silverado 2500 HD. After reviewing the online instructions it was clear I should be able to do this. No one likes to take apart brand new product to install something that should of come from the factory anyway. So hats off to Putco for filling this void. Mailing and packaging was perfect. Fit up on the truck was perfect. Really, the only way this could've been easier is if they sent someone along to install it. There was 2 extra small 7mm bolts at the top outside wings of the grill at the top out side of the 4 top bolts, not shown in the instructions. See ratchet in photos. Perhaps the factory added these on later to the 2016. Added bug screen over radiator and oil cooler at this point.595329

Quality of product and fitment spot on. Be patient when peeling off protective coating. This was an easy project, thanks to your (etrailer) video instructions!! Again, be patient when reattaching the factory lowers bolts, it is tight in those areas.808164

Purchased the Putco bar style stainless steel oil cooler grill for my 2015 GMC 3500 SLT dually as we are planning to take the rig to Alaska and don't want to have a semi thrown rock ruin our trip. The installation was simple and took all of 15 minutes. After installing I noticed how vulerable the air conditioning condenser is behind the stock GM grill so I may have need of another product from Etrailer where I have always enjoyed competitive pricing, knowledgeable, quick, and friendly service . 517319

Fits good. If mounting tabs were stronger and it didn't rest on the plastic slightly I would give it a excellent review. Will see how it holds up over time. It does have limited lifetime warranty on the product itself not the paint. Hope I do not have to use it. Can stop worrying about a big rock smashing into the Cooler now that I have this grill installed324914

Was a little more flimsy than I thought, for the price. On my 2015 Chev 2500 Duramax, I didn't have to use the clips included. There were already 2 bolts in that space. I do like the looks. This should stop the larger stones from taking out the cooler and/or radiator. 722176

Does an excellent job in protecting the transmission cooler which is exposed in the bumper opening. A little bit time consuming to install, but instructions are easy to understand and it is well worth the effort.887268

Arrived as scheduled. Has a nice black mat finish. Installation was added by the on-line video. Was a bit concerned about pulling off the grill (thought I would break it), but no problem with a little extra pull. Didn't take long at all. Makes my 2019 2500 HD look better and will protect that transmission cooler. Only issue is the gap on each side is not equal. Could be the existing plastic inserts on the bumper.650120

I purchased this transmission cooler grill for my 2016 Silverado 3500. Perfect fit, took less than one hour to install. I would recommend this Putco grill to anyone looking to protect their automatic transmission.809458

This review applies to a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LT 6.0 L.

GM ought to pay for this grill because there is nothing protecting the transmission inter-cooler from road hazards, such as rocks and birds and what have you. You could lose a very expensive transmission if something punctures the system.

This Putco lower bumper grill insert is the answer. It is well made and precisely fits into the lower bumper opening. However, if you are not familiar with snap-together automotive body work, the installation could be a little scary, because you must remove the front (upper) grill and work in a very tight space.

The instructions and videos below will guide you through the process. Allow at least one hour to complete the installation. You will need a 10mm wrench or a 10mm socket and a small ratchet (a ratcheting box wrench works best) and a 7/16 wrench; a flat head screw driver; possibly a small mirror; and a good light.

I would recommend using Loctite thread lock on the four installation fasteners. You do not want to go through this whole process a second time if any of these fasteners come loose.

The finished product looks great, as if it were a factory installation. The Putco name on the lower right side of the grill is very small and hardly noticeable.

I did not give five stars because some of the pictures in the paper instructions included with the grill were kind of dark and hard to see.

I ordered this 3 yrs ago for my 2019 chevy 2500hd looks great after 3 yrs I just orders another one because I hit a deer and I t hit bumper and it also pushed in putco grill guard but I believed it saved the oil cooler from being damaged. It was about 1/2 inch away after Collison. I also bought it for preventing rocks or road debri from coming through and hitting the cooler. I highly recommend the putco guard. Looks good too.1313825

Received my grill yesterday. Checked for a trial fit, looks great. Product is well made. will last the life of the truck and protect my transmission cooler from rocks and other road debris. Why Chevy leaves this radiator unprotected (so low to the pavement) I will never understand. Product looks great, is well made, and installation instructions are good. It's just more work than I planned. I highly recommend this grill. 449155

the picture is what it is. fits as it should I have had no issues. I was worried that it might block some air flow to the trans cooler but I have not noticed any differences. it does a good job blocking just about everything that might fly through that opening.550750
