Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the T-connector is located towards the center of your vehicle on the back wall of the cab. The converter plugs into the gray 12-pin tow plug. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the included fuses into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, under the bumper. Secure the connector with the included cable ties.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 118778 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a T1 vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years of the Honda Ridgeline 00:00:09. To ensure or double check that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide which is located at etrailer.com.But basically, once installed, this provides a four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately. And it comes with a dust cap for the four-way flat connector.

That way you can cover up the connection point when it's not in use.The black box is the included module light. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The power module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. Now, this unit is designed to connect quickly and easily. All you need to do is locate the gray 12-pin tow plug connector, which is basically toward the center of the vehicle on the back wall of the cab.

You can gain access to that by opening up the driver side rear door. And once you locate the 12-pin tow plug connector, you would insert the black box module into the gray 12-pin tow plug. You can use cable ties or the double-sided adhesive tape provided in the kit to secure the black box safely out of the way.Next, you'll need to locate the fuse panel, which is under the hood on the driver's side, and insert the provided fuses according to the installation instructions. Next, you'll need to locate the large gray housing under the vehicle bumper on the driver's side, so that would be at the rear, and plug the towing harness into the gray tow plug. Once you have that done, you secure your wires with the included cable ties.

That's going to clean up the installation and secure any excess or slack in the wiring up and out of the way.And then once your install is complete, the four-way connector will be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector secured and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of terminal grease or dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole connector itself, to help prevent corrosion. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 4.2 amps per circuit, and for the tail lights, 7.5 amps per circuit. That's gonna do it for today's look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness with the four pole flat trailer connector.

2017 Honda Ridgeline

Just finished installing the T-One Trailer connector on my 2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-T. Installation was not too difficult. Instructions were sparse with respect to exactly how to locate and access the plug on the back firewall. Also the instructions on how to remove the cover on the plug under the rear bumper were not very helpful. A short video on these tricky things would help immensely. How and where to attach zip ties or sticky tape is not needed. Beyond that I am very pleased with my trailer connector. 561181

SO far very poor instructions. I mean really the photos do not match my truck, they are not clear at all. They make it sound so simple, but I still cannot find the harness connector in the back seat of my brand new truck. 595987

I have linked you to instructions for the Curt application for your 2019 Ridgeline. Curts photos and written description are much more clear and easier to understand, and should help you complete the installation. The Curt harness looks a bit different than the Tekonsha model you purchased, but they would install in the exact same manner.

The wiring at rear hitch was easy and simple. Finding the connection behind the rear seat involved removing the entire seat bottom and back to make a simple connection of the converter. Once that was done the real problem came with trying to follow the fuse placements. After consulting the we then owners manual , was able to figure it out 703320

Great product. Horrendous instructions. The instructions have one picture to show where to mount the module. In black and white! I could not find the connector for the module for my vehicle. Called support two separate times and could not find it. Finally through another review there was more detailed information. There really needs to be 1st hand knowledge on how to install these for all different models. I figured since it was a for a honda it would show me exactly where to go. But all in all figured it out. Works fine. UPDATE the instructions with color DETAILED pictures! 669808

2019 Honda Ridgeline

The four wire trailer kit installed successfully on a 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-T. Installing the black box module is easy once Honda's connector is located behind the driver's side rear seat. Carefully remove plastic panel (near floor) next to where seat belts bolt to frame. Panel has two flexible tabs near top - one on either side of the seat belts - that must be carefully moved a bit to release the panel at top. Check other reviews for photos on locating the cable (it's the thicker one) and connector that plugs into black box. The connector will be tucked behind some thin insulation material. Gently pull it down to expose connector. Its cable shroud is tied to back wall at one point but there's enough slack to connect to module. Secure the module to your taste, install three fuses under hood, and finally connect up trailer cable (very easy). Don't forget to grab the boat and trailer then head to the lake. The kit has high quality parts. 643239

The product is high quality and the instructions are very good. It took me about an hour to install and worked perfectly when complete. I would recommend it. The only difficult part was finding where Honda hid the gray plug for the powered converter module behind the back seat and behind the sound deadening material.. Be patient and persistent and you will find it. etrailer is always my “go-to” supplier for anything towing related. 633409

seems to be a good product at a good price....however...your 'install video' says A) open the rear door B) locate the receptacle and plug in the device..... There is a lot of unexplained hard work to get from A to B....like remove the entire back seat....etc.....at least 1/2 hour each way....... 577741

Do you have a question about this Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring?

  • Connector Location for T-One Black Box on a 2019 Honda Ridgeline
  • Thank you for the pictures! It looks like you found the connector for the pigtail with the 4-Way from the T-One # 118778 on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The reason that you are having trouble finding the connector that the black box plugs into is because you aren't quite looking in the correct place for it. The Tekonsha picture in the instructions doesn't do a great job at explaining where to look but the Curt T-Connector # C56365 instructions have some great pictures for this. I have...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2019 Honda Ridgeline
  • For your 2019 Honda Ridgeline the trailer wiring harness I recommend is the Tekonsha part # 118288 if you need a 7-way or part # 118778 for if you need a 4-way. These are the best wiring harness solutions as the Tekonsha brand is the most reliable option currently available due to their higher quality converter boxes. If your trailer has a 7-way and brakes you'll need a brake controller to activate them for that our best option is the P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller...

  • Recommended 4-Way Trailer Connector for a 2018 Honda Ridgeline
  • I do have an option for you but the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118384 is not a confirmed fit for your 2018 Honda Ridgeline. Instead, you will need to use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118778 which plugs into a pre wired connector under the rear bumper. There is also a converter box that gets installed inside the cab which you can see from the attached install instructions. Unfortunately, there is no adapter that will allow you to use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness...

  • No Trailer Running Lights On a 2019 Honda Ridgeline with T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 118778
  • I called Tekonsha and they said they have had one other customer with this issue while using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118778 on a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The cause of this issue was a bad converter box so that may be what is causing your running lights not to work as well. I also took a look through the instructions and compared them to the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56365. It looks like each manufacturer recommends installing fuses in different places...

That said, others have had better luck finding the connector after removing the entire seat bottom which is more than required but will make things easier. • How to Remove Tow Plug Cap to Install 4-Way Harness on 2018 Honda Ridgeline Sport
  • Thank you for the photo, it was helpful. From that it simply looks like you need to remove the locking tab of the tow plug on your 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The fastener at the top needs to be removed (what the arrow is pointing at) by sliding it rearwards. It has locking tabs as well so press down on those and that should remove the protective cap on the tow plug and you can complete your installation of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118778. The directions don't do a great job of making this more transparent but the connector should be directly to the left of the connectors with the green relays which sounds like the one you have found. It may take some more digging to pull this connector out but you should be able to find and locate it on the side of the connector...

  • Best Trailer Wiring Harness for 2019 Honda Ridgeline
