Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way tow harness is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. The ModuLite plugs into the factory wiring harness within the driver's-side storage compartment in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the ModuLite, insert the included fuses and relays into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 118491 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number 118491. This is the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This is designed to fit the 2009 to 2011 Honda Pilots. It's going to provide a four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal light. It's compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. Those are sold separately. This system connects quickly and easily. No cutting or splicing of wires is required.

The tow harness with the 4-way flat connector is going to plug into the connection point behind rear bumper, and then the ModuLite connects in the rear cargo area. The ModuLite is included to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The power module is going to connect directly to the battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. This system supplies the required relays to activate all the functions. It's constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire, and it comes with a dust cap for the 4-way flat connector to help protect the connection points. Now, the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights is going to be 4.2 amps per circuit, and for the tail lights, it's going to be 7.5 amps per circuit. It's going to come with some zip ties to help clean up your install look, as well as all the fuses and connections that you need for your installation. Once your installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch.

A mounting bracket, that's going to be sold separately, is recommended to keep the connector secure. You can find that on our website with part number 18144. That's going to do it for today's review of part number 118491. This is the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. .

I was skeptical if this would work, my 2011 Honda Pilot came with a receiver hitch but no wiring connection for trailer lights, go figure anyhow i went ahead and ordered this wiring harness kit and i must say that this was so simple to do that my 14 year old son installed it within 20 minutes and that included screwing the item #18144 (Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat) (which is sold separate) to the bumper. Was very impressed with how easy it was, my Honda already had everything in the wiring to "plug and play". Thanks again E-Trailer for another fine product and also thanks for shipping it out so quickly.... You guys rock ***** 641262

As others have said, Honda wanted an incredible amount of money for their harness kit. I saw this online and read the great reviews and decided to give it a shot. Let me say this is probably the best product for the best price I've seen in a long time. The kit came very well packaged with clear instructions. I watched the video online once during the week, but it wasn't really necessary with the included instructions. I completed installing it myself in about 20 minutes on my 2011 Pilot, and it works perfectly. The only suggestion I can offer is to try and make the pictures in the instructions a bit lighter. They are dark and kind of hard to see detail. I had to count the fuses in the picture and compare it to what I saw in my car to figure out where everything went, but it was a minor complaint. All in all, this is an excellent product and very well-made for an excellent price. I'd recommend it to anyone regardless of technical knowledge or level of experience. One tip for the would-be buyer: remove the harness plug from the blue clip under the bumper to remove the harness cap. That way you can pull it down and remove the cap much more easily than trying to do it while it's still attached. 21291

took all of 15 minutes to hook up thanks to the good installation video you people supplied online. picture is good but smaller than i would have liked. i could not find one with a larger screen with this type of installation. I wish that the camera would only come on when i put it in reverse instead of being on all the time. good quality, good installation and good service. 8903

"That was easy".. Worked like a charm. Glad I went this route instead of the dealer. Saved a lot of $$. The only thing was trying to figure out which one to get on the website. I was confused. I knew I needed a 4 point connection. My vehicle had a hitch but no harness so when it asked for a tow package I wasn't sure what to select. I ended up going with the product that seemed to be used the most and had the most reviews. I made the right choice. The directions were real clear... Getting the plug off the wire harness on the vehicle was a little tricky. You have to detach the plug on the vehicle by pulling the clip out of the hole in the frame. Then the clip thats attached to the plug needs to be removed (don't break it just unsnap it). This will release one end of the plug. Then on the other side is a little snap you have to press. Once you plug in the new harness you can reconnect the snap to hold the two connections together and reattach to the frame. I should have taken pictures. Maybe someone else that reads this could do this in the future and share. 81479

1 year follow up - I havent used it much since last summer but the only problem I incurred were a few burnt fuses. It wasnt anything wrong with this product which I thought initially but the trailers had bad grounds. I had to test the harness on other trailers to narrow it down to the trailers. After fixing the trailers grounds I didnt have the problems again.

Product was exactly as shown on the website. The video was really informative to orient me to what had to be done. The toughest part was getting the Aux fusebox cover off! I really couldn't get a finger on top to press the latch to release the cover (fat Fingers?) I ended up using a Paint can lid lifter to do the trick! I will be checking with etrailer in the future for my trailer wiring needs! 711119

I have a 2010 Honda Pilot and I purchased a 4 Flat wiring Harness so i could tow a log splitter. The wiring harness was very easy to install. The printed instructions that came with the kit alongwith the video on etrailer's Product page made it a snap to identify and install the relays and fuses. The plug that attaches behind the bumper was also easy to attach. All in all, I was impressed with this kit and will happily say that etrailer did good by me. Thanks, etrailer! 697468

I have zero experience with towing or hitches themselves, but I knew in order to tow a rental trailer, I'd need a ball mount and power. Luckily, I found etrailer.com and easily found this product for my 2009 Honda Pilot. After watching the great video I felt confident I could do the wiring hook-up. The product was shipped quickly and the installation went exactly as in the video and included paper instructions. I couldn't be happier - the product had everything I needed. I also bought the mounting bracket and ball mount. 640558

The best way to make the connection from the red wire on a brake controller to the stop light circuit on the brake switch is to solder in the red wire to the stop light wire.
