Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. If extra length is needed, you can cut the zip tie on the passenger side harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

The harness is too short. When feeding it through the bumper extender it's too difficult to get back up to the passenger light. Harness needs to be another foot to make it easier to manage. 851561

This wiring harness was very easy to install. I also purchased the One piece 4 pole flat connector mounting bracket item #18144 for a neat and completed installation. I simply drilled two small holes in the bottom of bumper about 2 inches to the right of the hitch and mounted it with the included black nuts and bolts. The online reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I don’t know how the wires will weather over time as they are just zip tied up under the vehicle and exposed to the elements. However the insulation on the wiring seems nice and heavy and will probably last for years. An option would be to run the wires through flexi automotive conduit before zip tying it under the body. 791043

2008 jeep Cherokee. Pretty easy to install. I taped the shims together, kind of pain otherwise. The wiring was easier than I imagined, but was a little short on length, I made it work though. Haven't connected my trailer yet, but I'm sure it will be fine. I will update the review if needed. 720425

I bought this for my Cherokee because we bought a boat and didn't realize my wife's Acadia couldn't pull it out of the water (front wheel drive). My Cherokee didn't have a tow package, so I added this and the Curt receiver. The instructions were easy to follow and the product works great! Thanks for fast service from the folks at etrailer! 703291

I purchased this wiring kit from etrailer rather than the giant store that's named after a large river. Yea, I spend a few dollars more from etrailer and didn't get it the very next day but I'd rather give etrailer my business due to their customer service and information. The wiring kit was super easy to install. My only concern is that the wiring harness from tail light to tail light was just long enough. There was no slack in the wire that went along the bumper. An additional inch or two would have been welcome. 696182

Ask the Experts about this Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring

  • Parts Needed to Add a Brake Controller on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee With or Without the Tow Package
Since you don't have the trailer towing package on your 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee you do need to start off by installing a 4-Way connector. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118425 as we have found Tekonsha to be one of the most reliable wiring companies that we carry. To have 7-Way and 4-Way connectors on your Jeep you also need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This connects to the T-One and give you both connections that you need. It also includes everything you need for the 7-Way to...

  • Wiring is Too Short Installing Tow Ready T-One Harness on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
There is an installation note right below the specs on the product page of the Tow Ready # 118425 that notes if you need extra length, you can cut the zip tie on the passenger side harness. I have found by researching the previous customers installation experiences, many of them with your vehicle, have had to use this method to gain that extra little bit of wire to finish the installation. In the picture, I have designated the ziptie in question.

  • Installation of 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness for 2008 Jeep Compass
The 4-pole trailer wiring harness kits made for your 2008 Jeep Compass, parts # 118428 from Tekonsha and # C55050 from Curt, are powered-type harnesses that do require a direct battery connection for powering the converter and the trailer's lights. The kit # 118425 that you referenced, which fits only the Jeep Grand Cherokee, cannot be used on your Compass because it would not provide the protection for your car's wiring that these other harnesses do. Here is why. The internal wiring...

If your 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee does not have the round factory plug behind the rear bumper for a trailer connector (see photo), then the parts that you listed will work. Before you proceed, I recommend checking for the factory trailer plug behind your bumper again because we found that Jeep included this plug on some models that did not have the factory tow package. If you have this plug, then you can use our Multi-Tow Trailer Connector, # 74682, instead of the 4-way wiring harness and...

Thank you for your purchase of T-One 4-pole trailer wiring harness # 118425 which is a confirmed fit on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and installation of which is shown in the linked video on a 2013 model year GC. Your issue of certain left-side vehicle lights now not working after you first connected your trailer suggests that your trailer either has a short-circuit somewhere in its wiring or that its total power demand from all of its lights is more than the harness can deliver. For trailer wiring for your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee you would want the Tow Ready Wiring Harness part # 118425 which is a confirmed fit. Meaning the turn signals and the brake signals are carried on the same circuit. I attached an install video for this harness for you to check out as well.

  • 2008 Grand Cherokee 4-Way and 7-Way Recommendation
You would need to first start with a 4-way for your 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. For that you would need the part # 118425. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. Brake controllers are universal, so any brake controller will work, including the Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90885. The brake controller will have four wires: Red, Black, Blue and White. If your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with a factory installed 7-Way wiring harness, it probably does have the 12 volt wire already attached and ready for use. You can check the pin on the 7-Way in the 1 oclock position if facing the connector. Use a circuit tester like # 40376 to check for voltage. On some vehicles you will need to have the key on or the vehicle started. If you find that it does not show voltage, it could be that there is a fuse or relay that needs to be installed....

  • How to Make the Tow Ready Trailer Wiring Harness Long Enough to be Used on 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
There is a pretty simple fix for the issue people have where it seems like the harness is too short. What you will need to do is cut the zip-tie that holds the left and right harnesses together and then pull the wires apart as they are bonded together. This will give you plenty of wire to make it to both taillights of your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you check out some of the other reviews you can see that some people had success with this method too.
