Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Plug and play just like it says. Install was simple. I extended the green wire that goes to the passenger side a bit. There was enough to work, but I wanted a little more slack. Great product so far. I'll update later to see about longevity. 613178

Short on tyraps to do a neat installation but I have plenty in a drawer. It fit perfect and is still working terrific after being out to the weather for a year. I would not hesitate to use etrailer again. I have four trailers to maintain and they are the go to place. 837995

Product worked great. Had a little trouble installing the 'wire run' going to the passenger side. I have a 1993 Pathfinder and the 'wire run' from the drivers tail light to the passenger tail light goes through a small channel on the rear floor. I pushed a wire snake through the channel and tried to pull the connectors through the channel but no luck. I then just cut the 1 green wire, pulled it through and then spliced it back to the passenger side assembly. I connected everything and it worked perfect. 654059

Unfortunately I sent in my review before actually testing that my trailer lights actually worked. While it is true that I received the item quickly and it was an easy install the product did not on my truck 1994 Nissan D21 truck. I contacted customer service and they were not able to help me with the problem. I wish I had the results that others appeared to have. Thanks for asking anyway.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118353 is designed for a 1986 Nissan D21 hard body. It is not compatible with a 1994 model. Your particular truck will require a hardwire 4-pole connector like part # 119178KIT.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for First Half 1986 Model Year Nissan Pickup Trucks
It sounds like your 1986 Nissan Pickup was built in the first half of that model year life cycle. The harnesses for the 1986 , # 118353 and # C55353 both have converters and are for 1986.5 mid-year models. If your truck does not have separate turn signals and brake lights then neither of these harnesses will work. You would have to hardware in harness # 18252. I have linked a video that shows how you will need to test the wires, either at that round plug you mentioned or behind each...

  • Troubleshooting Weak Ground Signal on Trailer Pulled By a 2006 GMC Truck
To determine why your tester is showing a dimmer light, start with a check of all your ground wires to verify that they are securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface. These checks include the ground connector on the tow vehicle, the ground connector on the trailer, and the ground connection at each tail light assembly. Also check the condition of the wiring in between. Inspect all of the connector contacts for signs of even slight greenish or whitish discoloration. Either of those...

  • Trailer Lights Flash with Vehicle Flashers and Go Out when Stepping on the Brakes
So it sounds like the flashers are tied into the running light circuit on the truck side. I am not sure it this is how it is supposed to be or if there is a wiring issue on the truck. The correct 4-Way for a 1998 GMC C/K series is # 118315. It just plugs in line with the vehicle tail light harness, see instructions link. Applying the brakes may be causing the trailer lights to go out while the flashers are on because it is too much draw on the wiring which is causing the lights not to...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Where Both Lights Flash with Right Stop/Turn Circuit

Or if neither turn on with the left turn signal you have both ran to the right side and nothing ran to the left stop/turn circuit. So you'd need to inspect the trailer wiring and either fix the short that is causing the first scenario I mentioned (look for cut or exposed wire and fix as needed) or you'd need to run...

  • Why Would Right Turn Signal Come on When Left Turn Signal is On for Trailer Wiring
If your right turn signal is blinking with the left turn signal applied that most likely means you have a short between the right turn and left turn signal circuits or you possibly have the left turn signal shorted out to the running light circuit as well. If the second scenario was happening you'd likely see the right turn signal blinking at a dimmer intensity than the left. If both lights are same brightness then that would indicate you have a short between the left and right turn signals....

  • Why Would Trailer Lights Stop Working When Headlights of Vehicle are Turned On
Try improving the connection of the main ground wire of the trailer wiring harness. Make sure it is attached to a clean metal surface. Or you can run all of the trailer wires back to the main ground. This is actually the ideal solution. But you can also check the current grounds for the lights to make sure they are making a solid connection to a clean metal surface. What you described is the classic insufficient ground scenario so finding a way to improve the grounds will fix the problem.
