Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - 118288

  • Custom Fit
  • Trailer Hitch Wiring
  • 7 Round - Blade
  • Powered Converter
  • Tekonsha

Quickly and easily install a 7-way, RV-style trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. Connector plugs into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.

  • Provides a 7-way, blade-style trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 4-pole, 5-pole, and 6-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily
    • Tow harness with 7-way connector plugs into connection point on the back wall of the cab
    • Plug in T-connector
  • Includes ModuLite to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
    • Powered module connects directly to battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 7-way flat connector

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 4.2 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 7-way harness is located towards the center of your vehicle on the back wall of the cab. The converter plugs into the gray 12-pin tow plug. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the included fuses into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

  • Locating Factory 12 Pin Connector on 2019 Honda Ridgeline to Install Tekonsha Harness
The factory 12-pin plug where the Tekonsha Harness # 118288 will plug in on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline is located towards the center of the vehicle on the back wall of the cab. To access the plug you will open the rear driver side door and fold the bottom rear seat up into the upright position. Then remove the seat trim panel and the plug should be to the left of the green factory relays.

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2017 Honda Ridgeline
Sounds like you installed a 7-way connector at the rear of your 2017 Honda Ridgeline and are looking for the intermediate harness that the 7-way would connect to. Since that's not available the only option we have would be the part # 118288 that you referenced which comes with this. You'd end up with a backup 7-way since it's included. It also includes all the relays and fuses as well.

  • Identifying 7-Way Pin Function For Testing The Harness
The attached diagram should help but for 7-way connector kits like # 118288, you can look at the functions clockwise. Purple is reverse lights at noon, Black is 12V battery power at 1:00, Green is Right turn and brake at 3:00, Blue is brake controller output at 5:00, White is ground at 7:00, Yellow Left turn and brake at 9:00, and Brown is tail and running lights at 11:00. A review video is attached for additional information and a help article as well.

  • No Power to Taillight Pin on Trailer
If you have no power to the taillight pin with the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118288 then the issue is almost certainly that you have a blown fuse on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline. What you will need to do is check you owner's manual to find the fuse and replace it, which should remedy the issue. The only other thing that might be happening is a wire leading to that pin is somehow damaged, so that would be the other thing to look for. I have added links to a couple trailer wiring...

  • Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way on a 2011 Honda Pilot with a 4-Way
If you only need taillight functions (no trailer brakes), all you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way would be the # 37185 which is a simple 4-way to 7-way converter. If you want a fully functional 7-way at the rear of your 2011 Honda Pilot you would need to go with the # 118288 instead. This comes with some components you would already have, but this is the only way this is offered.

  • Is Powered Converter Needed for Installing Trailer Wiring on a 2019 Honda Ridgeline
The powered converter is what will send the actual power to the trailer connector so you will need to install it on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline whether you're installing the 4-Way flat or the 7-Way connector. I recommend going with the Tekonsha kits, 4-Way Part # 118778 or 7-Way Part # 118288, simply because we have found them to be the most reliable option. I'm attaching links to the installation instructions as well as our ball mount selection and a helpful article about choosing a ball...

We offer wiring harness kits for your 2017 Honda Ridgeline in both the 4-pole flat and 7-way blade style configurations, both of which are shown on the linked page. Parts # C56365 and # 118288, fit vehicles with the factory tow package. The 4-pole wiring format delivers only basic lighting signals to a trailer, stop, turn and tail lights. The 7-way format includes these signals and adds three additional circuits: 12V power, trailer brake power and reverse lights. You can refer to the...

  • Does a Brake Controller Have to Install When Installing a 7-Way on a Trailer
Yes, you can install a 7-way without also installing a brake controller. Basically you have all of the trailer light functions covered and then later when you add a brake controller the trailer brakes would then be functional. Then for an adapter to convert the 7-way to a 4-way you'd only need the part # HM47365 and you'd be set.

  • How Easy is It to Install Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller
The really great thing about the Curt Echo part # C51180 is that it only requires a functional 7-way on the vehicle and a smart phone and it's good to go. So you'd just need to pair this to your phone after plugging it into the 7-way and you'd be ready to tow. You would not need to use the brake controller port on your 2017 Honda Ridgeline at all. • Does Rear Seat Need to be Removed to Install 7-Way Wiring Harness on 2019 Honda Ridgeline
So in regards to removing the rear seat, that does not have to be done on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline to install the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118288. Per the directions you will need to remove the rear seat trim panel, which you can do with the Powerbuilt Trim Pad Remover # ALL648544. As for the modules, they are different so you will need to use the one that comes with the Wiring Harness # 118288.
