Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate and interior paneling to access this harness. The power wire plugs into the factory wiring harness in your engine compartment, behind the driver's-side headlight. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, connect the hot lead with the fuse holder to the postive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The hitch went on exactly as described. it took me about 4 hours (including the electrical harness) to do. That was from getting it out of the package to completely cleaned up. I was on the garage floor so that slowed me down because of the confined space. Only real problem I had was locating the .25 inch plates. They were not in the box of parts. I eventually located them taped inside the receiver part of the hitch. I plan to use it for small trailers and bike racks. I have not done that yet but I expect that will be fine.
Bought a trailer hitch and wires. Easy to install. Used it many times in the past 10 months. I would buy again.

Its supposed to plug and play. It dint work and instructions are worthless.

This is a plug and play if you have a factory tow package. Do you know if you have one? The plug in location is supposed to be inside the vehicle on the passenger side, behind a panel near the rear seat. If you find out that you do not have factory wiring on your 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, you would need Item # 118482.
This trailer hitch works great! Not much to really say about it. It does its job properly and it in installed correctly and safely. We used it to move the last of our stuff from Charlotte to St. Louis via Uhaul. Will definitely be back if we have other things we want to get installed from them.

This product was well thought out and was easy to install. The hitch took me about an hour and the wiring harness about another our. I had ordered the wrong wiring harness. If you have plug near your battery box for the battery you have the wiring that is trailer ready. Mine was a 2018 Outlander Limited. Thanks again Etrailer!

Solid hitch, all parts there and very easy to install. Took about 1.5 hrs by my self and a floor jack for support. Wiring harness easy to install as well with instructions provided.
Hitch arrived ok,yet it's box didn't. Install was quick and the electrical hardware an ease to install.instructions and videos were extremely helpful. Thank you again.
