I used this connector harness to add electric brakes to my trailer. With the color coded wires, it was an easy task to connect everything up. The socket connects up to the 7 way factory connector on my F150 pickup. I recommend this connector harness for similar applications.

This is a very durable connector and has served me well over the last year.

A perfect replacement for my RV trailer connector. Very easy to install. Works as intended.

Very easy selection and purchase.

The Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ Molded Cable was spot on! After perusing through numerous websites and [online vendor] looking for this very specific cable and molded connector with 10,12, and 14 gauge wires, I was finally directed to Valterra which actually showed the product on their website. But they do not sell the product. The gal who I talked to told me to go to etrailer.com and Bingo I found what I needed. Shipping was fairly quick and after comparing the wires on the existing cable to Mighty Cord the gauges and colors match--making splicing a breeze!

The product has performed flawlessly! The key to the satisfactory results of this male connector with cable was bending the plate on which the female connection is attached on the back of our Expedition perpendicular to the ground. When the two are solidly coupled, the female receptacle cap grabs onto the top “horn” on the male plug securely.

by:

Cable recd today without any labels, paperwork, or schematic detailing what the normal wiring represents.
All was not lost as I searched etrailer.com & found wiring instructions for detailed usage.
Cable, wiring, & connector all of good quality.

1 year later the cord has been subjected to all types of weather &amp along with road debrisfrom our motorhome. The cord still looks new. No damage to insukation or connectors. Thanks for delivering a lasting product.

by:

After damaging my electrical cable that connects the motorhome to my truck in-tow. I ordered a new 7-pin cable with connector and a 6-pin connector. I received both within four days and after an hour of rewiring I am back in business. Thanks for the great service etrailer.

Contacts corroded worse than anything I have ever seen in my life after one dip in the ocean. Might be acceptable for fresh water but it's definitely not ok for saltwater use.

My recommendation to best protect trailer wiring from salt water is to use split loom, spiral wrap or braided sleeving to protect your trailers wiring. Use heat-shrink tubing - the kind with the melting inner wall - or liquid electrical tape. On incandescent-bulb sockets, use dielectric grease to protect against water and eventual corrosion. We offer wire loom, heat shrink tubing, liquid electrical tape part # SWC50122, and dielectric grease part # 11755.

The only less than stellar part Ive purchased from etrailer

by:

Works fine and seems to be made well. Have to push hard on the plug to seat it on the connector for the cap plug latch to engage the plug body.

I purchased this item to provide charging for the boat battery while the boat is towed. No issues with the item currently.

by:

This worked very well to replace my plug and wire that was dragged down the road accidentally. The cord is sturdy and flexible. It installed easily. After 1 year it is still working great. Be sure to use dielectric grease on the contacts.

by:

I ordered a 7-way trailer wire for my camper to replace a damaged one. Easy installation and worked as if it was factory installed. Very pleased with this product and etrailer.com

by:

8 ft cord was perfect for my 2014 jayco !!!

by:

Worked perfectly after I had shredded my original. (Here's a tip...don't let the cable drag while towing :) )Quickly installed using existing wire nuts. 30 minutes start to finish. The plug end seems like it doesn't lock in quite as securely to the truck socket as my original did. Time will tell

by:

good quality works great

by:

Easy to install the connectors are smaller than original and hard to push in but will get easier with more use.. overall a good replacement

by:

Exactly what I needed and fast shipping. Great replacement for my OEM pigtail.

by:

Haven't installed it yet. But fast deli very!!

by:

  • Wire Missing For 7-Way Trailer Side Connector
I have attached the wiring diagrams for the different 7-way connectors used on trailers. I find it best to not reference wiring by color but instead function since depending on who made the wiring harness and who wired the trailer they can vary. As the white wire is typical of a ground connection the person who wired the trailer the first time may have not used it hoping that the ball connection would provide the ground that they needed to the vehicle. You may need to replace the 7-way...

  • How Is the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ Molded Cable Pinned
In regards to replacing a trailer connector on a trailer with an option like the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ Molded Cable part # A10-7W8, you need to match wires by function not color. In other words, if there is a green wire on the trailer, you should apply power to that wire to see what light it activates. Then attach this wire to the trailer connector based on the function of the light and how it matches up with the diagram for the trailer connector attached below....

  • Can the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector Be Trimmed
Yes, you can trim the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector part # A10-7W8 down to your specific length. If you have a set of heavy duty snips you can simply cut the cord at once but if not you'll need to use a razor to remove a section of the jacket and then snip each wire individually.

  • Recommended 8' long 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ Molded Cable
Yes, it does! You'll want the 8' long Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ Molded Cable item # A10-7W8. To keep all of your connections in a secure organized place, I recommend the Trailer Wiring Junction Box item # 3375601100.

  • Replacement Parts Needed For A 1977 W-W 2-Horse Horse Trailer
Hey Greg, For the lights we would need to see some pictures and get some dimensions to pick out the correct fit. When you say plug are you referring to the 7-way cable # A10-7W8 on the trailer or the 7-way on the Silverado # HM40975? The compartment door handle/latch will likely also need to be completely replaced. You can remove the backing plate to measure the cutout hole and then we can see if there's a compatible fit available.

  • Wiring the Traditional Trailer 7-Way to 7-Way RV Standard
The Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector, # A10-7W8, will have the same wiring configuration as the Hopkins 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, # H20046. I recommend the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box , # HS381-9000. The junction box will allow to easily connect your trailer wiring to the new 7-way cord. Using 7 of the Ring Terminal - 12-10 Gauge Wire, # 44-5310A, you can connect your trailer wiring to the junction box. The box can attach to the trailer and house...

  • Recommended Trailer Side 8 Foot Long 7-Way Harness with SAE Listing
I reached out to my contact at Mighty Cord and she stated that they don't have any particular safety listings for their 8 Foot 7-Way # A10-7W8. For an 8 foot long trailer side 7-Way that meets SAE standards we do have the Hopkins # HM20041. I have attached a short video review on this product below that you can also check out.

  • How To Wire A Trailer To Connect To The Tow Vehicle Electrical System
When wiring up your trailer you'll want to install a junction box # e99009 to have a nice organized place for your wiring connections. The 7-way cable # A10-7W8 will go from the junction box and connect to the 7-pole socket on your tow vehicle. Each wire is labeled in the wiring diagram for the cable and will go to the corresponding posts in the junction box. From the junction box you'll then run the wires to you battery and other corresponding components. I've attached a video below...

  • Parts Needed to Make 8 foot Long 7-Way Extension
The part 50-67-210 really would be considered more of an "umbilical" adapter between two 7-way sockets like what are used in flat towing. What you are in need of is more of an extension which would have a plug on one end and a socket on the other. You could cut off one of the plugs and then wire the harness to the # HM48480 and have more of a traditional extension. Or wire the # HM48480 to the # A10-7W8 instead.
