This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and some interior lining to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today, we're going to review part number HM11141940. This is the Hopkins plug-in vehicle-specific wiring harness with the 4-pole trailer connector. This is a custom fit part number. It is designed to fit the Lexus ES300 and ES350 starting in 2013. This plug-in simple custom wiring kit will utilize the factory connectors to attach your trailer wiring harness. There is no cutting or slicing required, just plugs in. At the very end here is the 4-pole flat trailer connector, that will go on the end of your vehicle to plug into your trailer wiring. This connector does have the corrosion resistant terminals and has a nice dusk cover that when it's not being used you can put on over the terminals to help protect it.
Everything shown here is included. The power converter wiring harness, some dielectric crease, some zip ties, a ground screw, a fuse that goes in this fuse assembly here, and an extra length of wire to run a wire to the battery. Now, this is a powered converter module which will adapt your vehicle's wiring system to work with the trailer. Basically, this will safeguard the vehicle's wiring system by pulling the power for your trailer lights directly from the vehicle battery, not through the existing wires in your vehicle right now. Because of that, you do have to run a extra wire to the battery to power the module. The maximum amperage on this is the stop and turn lights can take up to 3 amps per circuit and the tail lights up to 6 amps. Basically what you would do when you go to wire this in, you can see the plug ends, the side that would have the yellow wire is the for the driver side, so you'll plug this into the back of the tail lights from the driver side.
The green wire would run over to the passenger side, this will plug into the back of those tail lights. This extra red wire right here you can see with the blue connector on it, this would attach this extra piece of 14 gauge red wire that you would run to the front of the vehicle, and the other end would attach using this fuse assembly to your car's battery. Basically, the other end would attach to this connector, you'd put the included 15 amp fuse in here and then attach this to the battery, so this fuse would protect the whole system when it's connected. Zip ties. For any wire that would be hanging down, you can use zip ties to put them into place. Now the other connection of this converter you need to do would be the white wire which would have an islet on this. This is to ground, you need to attach this to a nice, clean ground.
They do include even a screw to ground it with, but it is a very simple connection, and this would give you the 4-way connector at the back of your vehicle to hook your trailer up to. I’m very happy with it
4 pin trailer wire loom for a 2013 lexus es350. Plug and play. That simple. Could not have been an easier install. One ever so tricky part is running a hot wire from the battery to the trunk. Lexus fit and finish makes it a bit tricky, but nothing a homeowner can't handle. I pull a little utility trailer for kayaks.
Easy installation - just plug and play. You will need to remove the trunk liner to make the job easy. Less than a 1 hour install. When not in use, just leave the cable under the trunk panel left side for easy access anytime.
Good follow through on order. Item ordered was not in stock, got different mfgr that was available sent. Then confirmed order was delivered. Stay with order all the way through the process. Thank you etrailer.
Getting the trunk liner out of the way took more time than hooking up the wiring.
