Installation of Tekonsha T-One Connector

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located at the rear of your vehicle. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the body harness up to your car battery and connect the wires per the included instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a 2-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's 3-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Installation of Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter

This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located near the steering column, through a grommet in the engine compartment.

This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

Wanted to pull a camper with my 2022 highlander and wanted all the electric brakes to work with the safety features of the vehicle. This is the only product that I could find that could do that. I also paired it with a redarc brake controller and had to add the redarc diode to prevent the error message as others have described. My buddy owns a car repair shop and between the two of use it took about 7 hours to install at his shop. We did do a factory looking install under the hood and also ran the wire thru the rear hatch for the boat trailer surge brake release feature. It was a lot of work and removing many interior panels of the vehicle. all of the wiring is inside the vehicle or under the hood except for the trailer pigtail. Not exposed to weather or salt. Have used it many times and works great. Glad I went thru all the trouble and wouldn't do it any other way

2019 Kia Sorento

If you follow the video this is super easy to install. Iv never done anything with my vehicles electrical and I was able to wire this up and install the hitch in one after noon.

by:
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL

With the video, this has been super easy to install.
That being said, there were two small (but annoying) hiccups.

1. The self tapping screw was smaller then the hole on the ground wire, so I had to fasten it through the metal rather than the hole. Easy for me, but some folks would have been stumped. That doesn't reflect well when you order the "complete" wiring package.

2. The ground pin on the 7 way plug wasn't glued in properly, so it kept getting pushed in when I tried to plug it in. I managed to get it clicked in properly (I think). We'll see when I test my brakes tonight!

by:

I’m one year in and haven’t had any issues with it. It works great. I can’t remember how good the installation instructions were but I got it figured out so it couldn’t have been that bad.

by:

Good product install takes some time and I had to get a little creative on some mounting as well as the ground bolt

by:

great harness, worked well

  • Vehicle Wiring Harness & Trailer Hitch Receiver Confirmed to Fit 2023 Kia Sorento SX Prestige Hybrid
In the event your 2023 Kia Sorento SX Prestige plug-in hybrid has the factory tow package wiring you will need either the Tekonsha 4-Way # 118269 or 7-Way # TK24FR. You can determine if you have the factory connectors by checking in the rear drivers side fender area. You can watch one of installation videos for these which will show you how to access the area the connectors are in. If you do not have the factory tow package connections you will then need the Curt 4-Way # C99DR harness...

Yes, you can definitely use the Redarc Brake Controller item # RED24FR in your new Sorento. It looks like the 2020 Sorentos did not come with a plug for a brake controller. You will need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete your installation. I have linked an installation video below to help you get the Redarc set up. If your Sorento has the tow package you can use the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake...

The Curt Trailer Hitch item # C13195 will work with your 2020 Kia Sorento but the wiring harness item # TK24FR will not because you do not have the towing package. Yours has different connectors than the Sorento's with the towing package. To install a 7-Way harness on your 2020 Kia Sorento without the towing package, you will need two separate wiring harnesses because they don't make just one that'll do the job. The first harness you'll need is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness...

Lets start with what you need to add to your 2016 Kia Sorento. I have two options for adding a 7-way to your vehicle. If you want a plug and play installation, we have the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK24FR. This would replace your existing 4-way. The other option is to use the # ETBC7. This comes with an adapter, the additional wiring that runs from the battery like you mentioned and everything else you need to upgrade from a 4-way to a 7-way. The adapter that comes...

Hi Jerry, For your 2025 Kia Sorento PHEV you would need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C37RV for the trailer hitch. The right light kit for your Sorento is going to depend on a few factors. For models with the tow package, like you stated you have, you can install a 7-way connector like the Tekonsha # TK24FR. Regardless of the tow package you can install a 4-pole connector like the Tekonsha # 118269 (incandescent tail lights) or Curt # C99DR (LED tail lights). The 7-way is really...

For a 7-way on your 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe you can use the Tekonsha # TK24FR. This will plug into the 2 factory ports you're describing for installation. It also comes with a wiring adapter to fit Tekonsha brake controllers. However, I recommend the Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR from Redarc. The main unit of this brake controller mounts out of sight so only the control knob is visible. This keeps it out of the way in the cab of your vehicle and also provides a sleek OEM look....

If the 4-way kit you installed tied into the factory trailer wiring of the 2017 Kia Sorento then yes the 7-way kit part # TK24FR that you referenced would work as an easy upgrade to also install a brake controller. If the 4-way installed using the vehicle taillight connectors instead like with the part # 118583 then instead you'd have to use the # ETBC7 kit to convert it to a 7-way and wire in a brake controller.

Yes, your 2019 Kia Sedona without the factory tow package is still compatible with the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with Brake Controller Adapter # TK24FR. According to the manufacturer, Tekonsha, this is compatible with all models of Kia Sedona and will plug into the tow package port which will be on your vehicle.
