Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on both the driver's side and the passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold, cargo trays, and interior trim panels to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at this T1 vehicle wiring harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. And this is a custom fit part that is designed to fit the 2022 and newer Kia EV6. To confirm if this harness will work for your vehicle, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com and input the year, make and model of your vehicle. And our fit guide will let you know if this wiring harness or another wiring harness that we have here at etrailer.com will work for your vehicle.
This harness provides a 4- Pole Flat Trailer Connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5-Pole, 6- Pole and 7-Pole adapters, which are sold separately. And, if you will notice, this does include a dust cap for this 4- Pole Flat Trailer Connector, and this is tethered to the plug itself. So you're not gonna have to worry about losing that cap. And it's going to keep those connection points clean and free of dirt and debris when your plug is not being used.
Now, this black box on this harness is the ModuLite power module. This ModuLite ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. It connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system reducing strain on your vehicle's wiring system. This harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. So there's no splicing of wires.
There's not gonna be any alterations to your vehicle's wiring, which could lead to damage or voiding warranties. The connections with the yellow wires are going to go to your driver's side. And the connections with the green wires are gonna go to the passenger side of your vehicle. Now this custom fit T1 connector, plugs directly into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on both the driver's side and passenger side. You will have to remove the rear threshold, the cargo trays and the interior trim panels to access this harness.
After locating the wiring connectors, mating T1 connector harness, disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from both the driver's and passenger's taillight assemblies. You wanna be careful not to damage any of the locking tabs. And these T-connectors are custom fitted for your Kia EV6. So they are going to match up perfectly with the connection points on the vehicle and they snap and lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. So once you have those plugged in you will need to make a good ground connection. The ground wire is this white wire. And if you notice it does have a ring terminal attached to it, and it does come with a self-tapping screw. So you can get this grounded to a suitable location such as your vehicle's frame or cross member. You just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will want to mount your ModuLite box to a safe, out of the way location. And you can do that with another mounting screw that you might have on hand or with this included double-sided adhesive tape or with one of the many cable ties that comes included with this kit. Next, you will want to run the hot lead to the vehicle's battery. And that's this short black wire that's coming out of this ModuLite. This short black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors. And then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery. Once you have this routed to your vehicle's battery you will then take this fuse holder and cut the yellow wire in half and connect one of the wires with the second butt connector to the routed black bundle of wire that you routed to your battery. Then the other half of this fuse holder is going to get an included ring terminal attached to it. And that connects to the positive post of your vehicle's battery. If you notice, this does come with a 15 amp fuse and that's gonna go into this holder like this. It is a tight fit. And once you have that in then this cap is included to protect that fuse. Now you are going to get, as I mentioned before, several cable ties to secure any excess slack in your wiring, especially in this wire that you're gonna route from the back of your vehicle to your battery. So, plenty of cable ties are going to be included to secure any slack in your wiring. Once the installation is complete this 4- way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area. And then when you're ready to use this you will just run this out of your rear hatch and make sure that you stay away from the striker plate and just run this in between the weather stripping. And this will work perfectly to hook up to your trailer. Now, the maximum amperage for the stop turn lights is five amps per circuit. And for the taillights, it's 7.5 amps per circuit. And this is constructed out of 16 gauge bonded wire, instructions are included to walk you through the installation process, step by step. And it is also recommended that you use a small amount of Dielectric Grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4- Pole Connector itself. It is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. And we do carry that here at etrailer.com and on your screen I am including our item number for that Dielectric Grease. Just take that item number and put it in the search field of our website here at etrailer.com and it will take you to that product. That's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
