2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

  • Custom Fit
  • Trailer Hitch Wiring
  • Curt
  • 4 Flat
  • No Converter

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Jeep Grand Cherokee with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.

Features:

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires
    • Locate connection points behind tail lights
    • Plug in T-connector
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Today on this 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to show you the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat, part number C56009. This is parts that you get with this part number. This is your wire harness here and this is one of the T-connectors. This T-connector goes over to the driver's side tail light. We got a second one that goes over to the passenger's side tail light. We have a white wire for ring terminal and that will go to ground on a sheet nail 00:00:27 behind the passenger's side tail light.

We got a nice long length of wire here for our 4-pole. This is our 4-pole end 00:00:36. It's compatible with all the other 4-poles out there. It also comes with a cap that's not been used. This also comes with some zip ties as well as a ground screw for the ground wire. It's actually pretty easy to install so let's get to it.

Since we have our hatch already open, let's go ahead and remove the tail lights. We're starting on the passenger's side. We have to remove 2 plastic rivets. There's a slot on the side where you put a flat base screwdriver, pull out the center, and then remove the rivet. Then we can move the light back and forth and remove it from the vehicle.

I'm just going to just let it sit here for now just like this. Let's take a moment and disconnect our tail lights. We'll push this lock back a little bit and press down the tab right here before we 00:01:24 take it here. Same thing on the top connection point. Push down the wire clip together and pull it apart. We'll go ahead and repeat this process over on the driver's side.

Now we can go ahead and add our wire harness. We'll go ahead and take our 4-pole, drop between our body work and bumper cover, and let that fall to the ground on the bottom. We're going to do the same thing with the T-connector with the green wire. We'll let that run out the bottom as well. We'll take a T-connector here and leave this up here, and we'll plug this into the wire harness. At this point we can go ahead and plug this in to our tail light, this end back into the tail light and reinstall the tail light. Make sure you push those red locks back into place. Let's go ahead and route 00:02:44 our 4-pole wire harness borrowing some factory wires right here and down to our hitch. Now we'll take our T-connector to a green and white wire. We'll go ahead and route that over to the other side following the wire harness. You'll also notice we set 00:03:07 the spare tire out of the way. It makes it a lot easier to install. As in our T-connector here, we'll route back up towards the tail light. We'll use the pool wire for that. My pool wire is just going to be an old piece of airline tubing. This could be any piece of material that you can route down to the bottom and pull back up your wire. While we're behind our tail light let's go ahead and add our white wire to the sheet metal. We'll use a provided self-tapping screw to install it. We'll need a 1/4-inch nut driver and a drill. Just like we did on our driver's side we'll go ahead and hook our wires up to the factory wire harness. Then we can go ahead and reinstall the tail light. With all our connections in place 00:04:19, we'll take a few moments to zip tie our wires, and make sure it's safe and secure and out of the way. Since our wire harness is really close to our spare tire slips 00:04:27, I'll go ahead and zip tie using this hole in the hitch. That will help keep poles out of the way. Once we have the zip ties in place, we'll go ahead and cut off the tails. We can go ahead and put up our spare tire and try it out. It's always a good idea to use a tester before you try it on your trailer, to verify it works. We'll take our ground clamp from our tester and I'll clamp it to the white wire, and test the brown wire for running light circuit. Yellow for left turn, green for right turn. If it brakes it is going to be a constant signal on yellow and green wires. All right, it looks like everything works. With that, that will finish it for our install on the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness, part number C56009 on this 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

This product is high quality and installed easily according to video instructions. I got this with a hitch intended to haul a bike rack but I used it to pull a trailer and it works great. I always put some dielectric grease on the plug works great I would recommend it. 804059

Extremely happy with the wiring harness. Much better option that a generic harness at local auto parts store that requires spicing of wires for the installation. Easy installation on 2010 Grand Cherokee, good apparent quality and should be easy to remove/replace if needed due to the factory style connectors. 792890

2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Easy to install. Plenty of wire to make install smooth and hidden. Does come with a cover for the 4 prong trailer plug. I would recommend looking under the vehicle. It may have a harness already wired under the bumper. It would allow you to just plug and go for a 4 or 7 prong. I had it but found the 4 prong flat was easy and a few dollars cheaper and I only need a flat plug. 784308

The wiring installed very easily and mated with the light plugs perfectly. Based upon the size of the ground connector I would suggest a larger self tapping screw, which would make better 360 degree contact. An option I would like to see and would buy is a square plate with mounting holes to fit the existing factory plug mount next to the hitch. A horizontal slot would be cut to match the shape of the plug with a long U-clip to hold it in place. Perfect! 585846

  • How to Determine if a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a Factory Tow Package
The most definite way to determine if you have a tow package or not is to contact a Jeep dealership and give them your VIN number. They will be able to tell by looking at your VIN number whether or not you have the tow package. If you have a factory installed trailer hitch with either a 4-way trailer connector or a 7-way connector then you have the towing package also. For this reason I recommend instead using the Curt # C13065 which is a custom fit for your Grand Cherokee, so that means no drilling and an easy, bolt on installation to save you time and hassle.
