Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the integrated fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Customer service is excellent, with fast shipping. Good product, I just have to mention one thing on the Kia Sorento the plugs that the harness plugs into is on the right side of the car. not the left side as mentioned in the instructions
I decided to tackle installing a hitch on my 2020 Kia Sorento myself. Let's just say I'm no mechanic and working on the concrete floor of my garage with no help and at my age (76) wasn't exactly ideal. But, thanks to the awesome video tutorials from etailer.com I felt brave enough to give it a shot.
Those videos were a lifesaver! They gave me the clear, step-by-step instructions I needed and the confidence to keep going. I even went with the Curt T-connector wiring harness they recommended, and let me tell you, it was just as good as the factory wiring.
The installation itself wasn't a walk in the park. Using my little floor jack helped lift the hitch into place and working from my creeper made things a bit more comfortable. At one point, I even had to jack up the passenger side for better clearance in my garage (don't forget to block the front tires for safety!).

First one I ordered was the wrong one. Second one worked at first - now doesn't work... So I only pull the small utility trailer during the day... Installation wasn't hard but not sure if I did something wrong or if it broke on it's own. Need to get another one this summer but will not do it online. Too much hassle sending back and forth.
I purchased this for my '17 Santa Fe Sport. This wiring harness is still working and was easy to install. Will definitely consider etrailer for all my towing needs.
True plug and play harness I was hoping for. Works great.
Only issue I had was not the fault of the harness. I installed it and zip tied to factory blind spot detection wiring on our Hyundai. Later started having issues wit BSD warnings and then BSD stopped working. Found out attachment of any wiring to the BSD causes issues. Rerouted the trailer harness an rest BSD and have not had an issue since.
Very easy to install on a 2019 Kia Sorento with the factory tow package. It plugs right into the factory connectors. For the 4 Pole Flat connector I used bracket 18144 since the wire is fairly short. It looks clean and professional. This bracket attaches directly to the no-drill bracket already present on Draw-Tite hitch receivers.
To check if your vehicle has the tow package you just need to pop out the 2 plastic rivets on the driver side panel shown in the install video and see if the 2 connectors are present. I was not able to confirm through the dealer or Kia corporate which Sorentos have the factory tow package.
Hello, I am very pleased with the ease and quality of this wiring harness. The way this is designed, with the proper connectors that connect directly to the factory conectors, was super easy to install with no splicing of wires. As for the Hitch itself, again, I am very pleased with the quiality of the unit. I would definitely recommend having 2 people for the install and proper tools, unless you have a Hitch rig to be able to do it yourself. To have a Hitch such as this installed by someone else would have cost hundreds more, I have checked.
The folks at e-trailer were absolutely great in helping me identifying the proper harness for my new 2016 Sorento. Once ordered it came in a few days and installation was a breeze. The online video was great at explaining the installation process - much better than a handful of printed pages and diagrams. Once the access panel was removed and the factory caps removed from the prewired connections it was effortless - about 20 minutes start to finish. Everything worked perfect during the post installation check - Well done etrailer.
The site was easy to use and search for what I wanted and needed. In addition, the DIY videos on the etrailer.com site gave me the confidence to complete the install. From installing the hitch receiver to the connection of the 4-pole wiring kit(hint: if you're vehicle has the prewiring for towing, they have the custom kits to match). Install was a snap, like 5 minutes, due to the exact fit of the product. It took out the unnecessary problem of figuring out the wiring. Thanks for everything etrailer.com! Your provided instructions on finding connectors connections on our 2019 KIA Sorento, proved to be exact and very clear. The combined order of Curt Wiring Harness and Curt Trailer Hitch, was promptly and properly received today, and using your videos, both installations were accomplished with regular hobby hand tools to a perfect fit and fast results. NOW we are looking for a suitable boat to hit the water! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR GREAT HELP!
Part was super easy to install with the quick-connects. I especially appreciate the thorough installation videos. Wiring needs to be routed through a small hole in the rear of the bumper frame on the passenger side that is impossible to see and very difficult to feel out (2008 Hyundai Veracruz), but with patience and determination, you'll figure it out; watching the install video helps you find your bearings. I was disappointed in the shipping speed (or lack thereof rather) as it took a little over a week to arrive.
Trailer hitch and wiring kit were a “perfect” fit. All holes lined up properly all necessary nuts/bolts provided. Videos for installation are very helpful and provide clear views of all the key issues for a simple professional installation. I found the paper instructions for both confusing and poor quality graphics. Video the only way to go! My experience with initial ordering, delivery and follow up questions were very good. These folks really know what quality customer service is as well a produce an excellent product.
Wiring harness does as expected and was a easy connection/install. The video where to locate factory tow plugs and how to takedown panel was a asset making for quick process. Tested all function post install everything good ready to now haul with my Sorento.

While installation instructions were straight forward, I chose to have my mechanic install rather than crawling around on the driveway. Had nice comments from mechanics on quality of the product.

I ordered a trailer wire harness for my 2007 kia it simple to install etrailer gives you videos on how to install products which is great and their products prices are great I would recommend them to everyone !
I was actually lucky I found this harness. The $10 higher purchase price was worth it. Plugged directly into the factory harness and done.
Was easier than the video you had online. My vehicle had the plugs for tow package. Every thing snapped in place and works great.
Dealing exclusively with the product, the product is of high quality and fits perfectly. Backup support with the company is excellent and thorough. Shipping time is absolutely terrible. As being in Canada I was very disappointed in the fact that it took so long for me to get it. On top of that, even though this product is possibly made in the United States, and under free trade should be duty free I had to be duty charges on this. In my case I have the availability to have it shipped to a US address and should have taken that.
Once I figured out that I had to remove the mfr's existing covers in order to match up the connections, it was not difficult to install.
i cant add to what is already known about curt products...iv'e been buying them for years...this hitch and wiring set up is top of the line...it took me 10 min to install the hitch..that incl getting it out of the box...the wiring harness...boom plug and play baby!!

a year later..its all good...curt is made to last..
used it one time pulled my boat 2 blocks. they made the install so easy a 5 year old could do it, I traded this SUV for a truck as it is easier to haul things and with that I bought the dual 4 and 7 trailer harness with the same ease to install with no. issues
Hitch bolted right in, install video was very helpful took me about 40 minutes to install with the trailer light module, did it by myself and in the ground,

Worked great till the car was totaled . I pulled it out and gave it to my Brother in Law for Hyundai . Works great on his .
