Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located beneath the rear driver's side of your vehicle. You will find the harness attached to a grommet between the wheel well and the bumper. Once you've plugged in the connectors, insert the included fuse into the in-line fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Getting more information on tray removal on my Santa Fe would have save me at least an hour. Once I had everthing removed the wiring was easy.

by:

by:

Easy to install, looks better made then oringial harness

by:

Product was as described and contained everything needed. It installed per directions (included) and works fine.

by:
2012 HyundaiSanta Fe

Would have been easier if I didn't have to remove the interior, but overall straight forward.

by:
2011HyundaiSanta Fe

Straight forward installation, but zip-ties were to short to wrap around the hitch tube.

by:
HyundaiSanta Fe

Wiring harness was just what I ordered. But the follow up tip email was the most help ever thanks Katie. Your the best. And thanks etrailer

by:

Perfect fit 1/2 hour to install hitch 3/4 to install light harness great instructions

by:
2010 Hyundai Santa-Fe

I received my order promptly and had no issues installing anything - the videos on etrailer were definitely a life-saver. Thanks so much!

by:
2007 HyundaiSanta Fe

Fit and installation was excellent. The instructions need better pictures however, with arrows and descriptors a little better adn pointing specifically at screws to remove and not remove.

by:

Product was easy to install. Came with simple instructions as well as online installation video. I purchased and installed this myself for a fraction of the cost that my local dealership wanted. I saved over $100.

by:
2012 HyundaiSanta Fe

Easy-peasy lemon squeezy. Good design, installation is relatively straightforward. You don't have to completely remove all of the suggested panels, just enough to be able to get your hands in there.

by:
2012 HyundaiSanta Fe

on my 2012 santa fe it was just plug in ,wire to other wires ,plug into trailer and go. 5-10 minutes so easy.

by:
HyundaiSanta Fe

Trailer hitch and Wiring Harness fit perfectly on my Hyundai Santa Fe and were easy to install. Bolts fit the frame nuts exactly and I didn't have to remove any of the vehicle parts to install the hitch. The instructional videos made it easy.

by:
2009 HyundaiSanta Fe

The wiring harness was exactly "as advertised" and everything fit as it was shown in the installation video. I wasn't able to get the interior side panel completely removed, but was still able to get to the existing wiring and make the connections. It took longer than I expected, but then I've never done this before!

by:
2012 HyundaiSanta Fe

On my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe SE with tow package it was a simple install. Easy to install and route wires like the installation video showed. The harness and plugs were all quality made. Would definitely order again.

by:

EZ install. I did have a problem plugging the 12v connector in, the rubber dust seal (orange in color) needed to be removed from inside of the connector on the supply side. Perhaps it normally comes out when you remove the dust cover.

by:
2007 HyundaiSanta Fe

I ordered the package for a 2007 Hyundai. I received was as advertised.

My 21 year old daughter wanted to install it, she followed the video instructions. Had a successful installation. It did take a little longer than the suggested 30 minutes. I assume that for someone who had a lot of experience the 30 minutes might be right.

We experienced issues on trying to get the left rear trim panel off for access. this porton of the video might have been explained better.

Overall it was easy to do, wished I had done it

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring for 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with No Power to Pins
Is it factory trailer wiring or aftermarket? Most likely the converter box has an internal short now and is in need of replacing as this is the common problem. You can test the converter box but most likely it's time for new wiring with the part # 118258 which does have an inline fuse so if you had this kit you could check there if present. What you will want to do is test the wires going into the box of the converter box for voltage with a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to see if...

  • Troubleshooting New Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Not Working for 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 118258 not having any power means that either the fuse that comes with it is bad or a fuse for the trailer lights on your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe is bad since this is connected to the OEM tow package. From what I was seeing in the online owner's manual the "BATT" fuse in the engine compartment fuse box takes a 30A fuse and protects the Trailer Power Outlet so that's what you'll want to check. If the fuses look good then I'd try...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with Factory Tow Package
For the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with the factory tow package, you would need the Custom Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118258. The harness would plug into the connector that is located underneath the vehicle inside the lower body panels on the driver side next to the muffler. I would also recommend a mounting bracket, part # 18144, and it would be a good idea to use dielectric grease like part # 11755 between the connectors. The grease will protect the plugs from moisture and corrosion. For...

  • Recommended Parts to Tow a Trailer with a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
Thanks for reaching out! I recommend installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75AR on your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe because it's a Class III trailer hitch with a matte black finish that blends in better and is more durable than the glossy black finish we see on the other hitches. To complete your towing setup I recommend using Tekonsha T-One wiring, part # 118258 if you have the factory tow package or part # 118415 if you don't have the factory tow package, as well as a ball mount...

  • Routing a Trailer Wiring 4-Way through the Cargo Area of a Hyundai Santa Fe and Outside the Vehicle
If you are unable to find a hole or grommet large enough for the 4-Way flat to fit through, you are left with 3 options. First, you can just leave the harness inside the vehicle and pull it out through the rear hatch as described in the instructions. Or, you could also drill out a hole using a 2 inch hole saw. You will need to provide your own grommet or otherwise seal up the hole after you route the trailer wiring through. The third option is to use an extension like # HM47115. You can...

  • Curt Hitch C13073 versus Draw-Tite 75684 for 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe
Curt offers a round tube Class III receiver, part # C13073, but to satisfy their warranty requirements, a stabilizer strap # 18050 needs to be used for non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier. If you intend on only using the receiver for towing, the Curt would be a good choice. The Draw-Tite # 75684 is constructed of square-tube steel. Because of the spoiler on top of the hatch, the stabilizer strap will not work well on the Santa Fe, so for a bike rack or cargo carrier, the...

This comes with everything needed to easily make the conversion and wire up a brake controller as well. Check the rear of your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and see if there is already a 4-Way installed at the rear or if it is possibly sitting on the inside of your hatch area possibly under one of the panels. If you cannot find the 4-Way then you don't already have one installed. If you don't already have a 4-Way then odds are that you don't have the tow package and you would need the T-One # 118415. Your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe can be equipped with either a 1-1/4-inch Class II or a 2-inch Class III hitch receiver, but only the Class III type can be used with weight distribution. The hitch you need for weight distribution is the Draw-Tite Max Frame # 75684. This hitch for your Santa Fe will work only on the versions without the dual exhausts. The other wiring harness, part # 118415, is for models that do not have the tow package.
