Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

Video Transcript for Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 42615 Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the plug and tow vehicle wiring harness, with the 4 pole flat trailer connector. This product fits a 1998 to 2004 Jeep TJ and Wrangler. This vehicle specific connector is pre-wired, and it uses original, OEM connectors for a watertight protection and guaranteed fit, and a very great look. Is going to provide your 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights, can be used with the 5 pole, 6 pole, or 7 pole adapter. The adapters are sold separately. If you need them, you can find them here at etrailer.com.

It's also going to come with the dust cap for the 4-way flat connector, that way you can cover up those connection points when your plug is not being used. Now, the four-way flat connector has got a nice, easy grip design. It allows you to easily make the connection or disconnect. Then, that plug is going to be tethered to the housing. It's just got a looped end, that kind of fits over these grooves, here.

That way, you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing it. Really nice design . You can see how the wire is all bundled up. It's got a nice, tight, taped design on it, so it's going to keep the wires together, and it's going to add a little bit of protection to the wires, themselves. Pretty simple installation, with the included instructions. Those are going to walk you through the installation process, step-by-step.

This does not require any cutting or splicing or taping. None of that is necessary for your installation. Really, all you have to do is locate your connection points on the vehicle, and then plug in your connectors. Your connection points are going to be located underneath the vehicle, on the passenger side, and those are going to be located behind the rear tire mud flap. Locate those, plug in the connectors.

They're going to match up perfectly. They are going to snap lock together for a secure fit. Once you have those connected, you'll need to make your ground connection. It's going to be a white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that attached to a nice, clean, metal service, using the groundings we've provided, or you can use another existing bolt that's there, and make your ground connection that way, as well. Any access or slack in your wiring, you can secure up and out of the way with the included zip ties. Now, they also include some terminal grease. That gets applied to the connection points, like the ones on the vehicle and the 4 pole connector, itself. That's going to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. That's going to do it for today's look at the plug-in tow vehicle wiring harness with the 4 pole flat trailer connector.

‘98 Jeep Wrangler, absolutely plug and play, very simple installation. Pull down the cover behind the rear passenger tire, reach up inside the body to find the factory harness, unplug the connector and plug the new harness into it. Put the cover back over the opening. Did need a drill to run in the new grounding wire but they even supplied the self tapping screw for that. Great product! 640338

Thanks for the wiring harness, it was an easy install, plug and route the wiring to the trailer hitch. Sure beats cutting and splicing into the vehicle harness, chasing the wires for identification etc.! Simple instruction included with the location of the plugs to interface with. Best trailer hitch wiring I 've done in 20 years. 279401

  • Can Magnetic Flat Tow Lights Install on 2017 Jeep Wrangler
  • For vehicles like yours that don't have an easily accessible steel portion of the vehicle for magnets to attach to we recommend the tailgate style light kit like the part # EZT20B which closes in the rear door and gives you a setup similar to the magnetic kits except without requiring a steel surface. Check out the picture I attached to see how it installs. I also attached an install video for this kit for you to check out as well.

  • Troubleshooting Wrong Trailer Wiring Harness Being Used on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler
  • You are correct, the Plug-N-Tow (TM) Vehicle Wiring Harness, item # 32625, only plugs into a connection point on the driver side on the vehicles it is confirmed as a fit for. This is because Jeep has already run all the necessary wires to that port for you, so you do not have to run the wires across yourself, as you would have to with other models that plug into both the driver and passenger taillights. The issue you are experiencing is due to the fact that this harness is designed...

  • The removable lighting solution to use on a 2016 Wrangler is the part # EZT20B as this will install between the tailgate. The magnetic lights aren't a fit for your vehicle realistically since there isn't a place to attach them. A customer of ours used this kit on his 2015 Wrangler and here is how he said he was able to install the kit. I open the tailgate to first hang the passenger side light then close the tailgate which serves to lock the passenger light in place and allow enough...

  • Electrical Connection from Motor Home to a Jeep Wrangler for Tail Lights when Flat Towing
  • If you already have the diodes installed, all you have to do is it connect the motor home to the Jeep Wrangler. If that is the case, just plug then into each other. If the motor home or the diode kit had a different type of connector, you will need an adapter or you may have to hardwire in the correct connector...

If you turn the key to the position it is supposed to be in for flat towing (consult the vehicle owner's manual) that is the position of the key you would use to test whether or not the brake lights come on.
