Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way tow harness is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. The ModuLite plugs into the factory wiring harness within the driver's-side storage compartment in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the ModuLite, insert the included fuses and relays into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring For 2011 Honda Pilot
You are correct there are dramatic differences in the trailer wiring for your 2011 Pilot. I called my contact at Tekonsha and asked about your vehicle. If you are wanting a 4-way trailer connector on your Pilot you can use part # 118491. There is no cutting or splicing into the wiring on your vehicle. If you want a 7-way trailer connector on your Honda you can use part # 118253.

  • Trailer Tail Lights Not Working after Installing Tow Ready Wiring # 118491 on a 2009 Honda Pilot
It sounds as if there may be a blown taillight fuse or you may have one of the fuses or a relay installed in the wrong position on your 2009 Honda Pilot, after installing the # 118491 T-One connector. I would start out checking the taillight fuses in the under hood power distribution boxes on your vehicle. If no fuses are blown, go over the installation instructions and the photo I attached and make sure you installed all of the fuses and relays in the correct locations. The 20 amp charge...

  • Removing Wiring Harness Cap to Install # 118491 on 2010 Honda Pilot
There are two tabs on either side of the cap, with the tabs released apply a rocking motion back and forth. You might have to keep at it for a bit, but the cap should come off. Avoid using brute force like pliers, if those tabs are damaged the plug will not be seated correctly when plugged in.

  • 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2011 Honda Pilot
Hey Gary, the best 4-way kit that fits your 2011 Honda Pilot is the Tekonsha part # 118491 as it has the easiest install and most reliable converter box. We don't have an install video for this or any of the wiring kits that fit your vehicle but I did attach a link to detailed instructions for this kit for you to check out. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Troubleshooting Tekonsha Trailer Wiring That Is Not Functioning on 2011 Honda Pilot
Sounds like you double checked all of the install steps of the Tekonsha kit part # 118491 on your 2011 Honda Pilot so the next thing to check is to determine if the converter box of this kit is possible faulty. To do that you'll need to test the wires that run to the box with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. If you are getting voltage on the input side of the box but still there's no voltage on the output side of the box that means the box has an internal problem and that's the issue....

  • Which Wiring Harness Is Needed For 2009 Honda Pilot With Tow Package And No Trailer Connector
I recommend the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118491. This harness will give you a 4-way flat trailer connector on the rear of your 2009 Honda Pilot and have all the correct fuses and relays to activate your tow package wiring. I am sending a link to the installation instructions on the Tow Ready wiring harness.

Next, locate the grey tow plug by opening the access panel inside of the storage compartment. Then insert the converter box into the vehicles grey tow plug. Next, locate the fuse panel in the rear cargo area on the drivers side next to the rear seats that you folded down. Open fuse compartment using a trim panel remover. Then insert the relays and fuses...

  • Parts Needed to Install 7-way Trailer Connector on 2011 Honda Pilot
The procedure for installing a 7-way trailer connector will depend on whether your Pilot is equipped with the 4 or the 6 cylinder engine. 6 cylinder engines are equipped with the factory towing connector located behind the bumper on the driver's side (see photo.) If this connector is present, you can indeed install the Tekonsha 7-way, part # 118253. The taillight converter as well as the necessary fuses and relays are included to activate the factory tow package. If your Pilot has the...

This would be an excellent option for your Black Widow Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier in order to display your signal lights. • How to Identify Presence of Tow Package on 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L
The best way to confirm whether a given vehicle has a factory tow package present is to check with a local dealership using your vehicle's VIN number. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118491 is a confirmed fit for Honda Pilot models between 2009 and 2011. The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118253 does have some redundancy in the parts as you stated. • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2011 Honda Pilot
The use of a universal trailer wiring harness is not recommended on the 2011 Honda Pilot in part because it is already set up for a plug and play type of wiring harness such as # 118491. Otherwise you will have to gain access to the wiring leading to the tail lights and splice into them. This will likely require removal of some trim panels in the cargo area of the Pilot. Once you have access to the wiring I recommend using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the wires to determine...

To find out if your 2010 Honda Pilot came with a tow package from the factory, the most certain way is to have a dealer run the VIN.
