Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the integrated fuse holder. Then install the 10-amp mini fuse and two 7.5-amp mini fuses in the rear fuse panel.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Arrived as ordered and when promised. Simple instrictions with pictures.

by:

Three words sum up the service: Quick, Simple, Painless!

Thanks!

by:

Great company! Super fast delivery, friendly helpful service and a product that performs as promised.

by:

I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that the kit comes with 2 fuses (4 are needed).

Bottom line, I'd buy it all over again!

Good prodcut. Directions could be a little better, and unfortunately there was no video for this product, but following the video for a similar product helped.

Worked great. Just plugged in the connector fuses and ran the wire and bingo all done. Grate e-sight to shop at.

3 day dilvery. Install same day hitch lined up nice and looks nice.
I am very happy with it.Instructions clear good price.

Instructions were simple and clear. Wiring harness connected quickly to all factory plugs and could not have been easier. If instructions are unclear for any reason, take 2 minutes and watch the how to video.

Curt T-Connector installed just as video showed on my 2011 Honda Odyssey. I am 110% satisfied with shopping/installation experience. I highly recommend to all you do-it-yourselfers...

2011 HondaOdyssey

This kit fits my 2011 Honda Odyssey perfectly- it plugs right in. So for those of you with the new odyssey, rest assured that this is the wiring harness you need.

by:

Fit perfectly, installed easily. It took me a couple of hours to install (in the snow 200 ft from my toolbox - don't ask). Instructions were clear with nice pictures. I had looked at a YouTube video previously which made it even easier. The only hard part was finding a good grounding point. I used an existing hole after I ground off the undercoat. Worked perfectly.

Recieved the product in good time and installed the wireing harness
in about 45 minutes from start to finish being carefull not to damage
any of the trim.

by:

Works like a charm. The installation instructions could be just a little more detailed. Be careful when removing the interior trim. It is very easy to break all them cheap plastic fasteners. That can become a head ache. Just take your time.

by:

Very easy install. I was nervous about taking sections of the trim off, but they went right back in place, no problem. As another review said, it was a little difficult finding a grounding spot. I used the screw-in trim holder half way up the trim, on the driver's side, right next to the hatch back door. After sanding off the paint on that spot of the frame, I was able to ground the unit when I used that screw to put the trim back in place.

Works goodThis wiring was fairly easy to install. I used a combination of the instructions in the kit and instructions from the Honda factory tow package to see where all the clips were in the panels so I didn't break anything. The rear plastic panel is difficult to reinstall since you have to make sure you get the retaining clips in the right spots on both sides of the panel. You can probably run the wires though the rubber plug in the rear of the vehicle and under the bumper if you wanted them near the hitch. I left mine inside the vehicle for now. The wiring seems to work as it should.

I installed my harness back in April. See my review on 4/26/11. Yesterday was the first time I had a chance to hook up the boat and go fishing. Much to my chagrin, the trailer lights didn’t work. With the help of my mechanic, it appeared that electricity was going from the car into the converter but not out. I called Etrailer and talked to Rose. She was very helpful. She arranged for me to return the wiring harness under their warranty. Rose explained that I will get a credit for the unit after they have a chance to look at it. Since I only live an hour away, I dropped off the unit at their Wentzville location. Rose also prepared a will-call order for me to pick up a replacement harness while I was there. Very smooth. When I arrived, I received first-rate help from Courtney with my return and will-call pick up. While I was there, I saw they were having a sale on bike racks—one too good to pass up. Courtney provided a lot of information to help me pick out a 4-bike Yakima bike rack. Then she diligently ensured I had all the proper pieces that come with the rack. Now, after having a pretty good day, imagine my dismay the next day when the new vehicle wiring harness did not work. OK, what are the odds of getting two defective wiring harnesses—pretty slim. After another couple hours of trouble shooting with my mechanic, I am embarrassed to admit I misread the fuse diagram for my Odyssey. I had installed the fuse for the wiring harness in the wrong location in the vehicle fuse panel. The darn think works just great now. Hats off to the people at Etrailer for this top-shelf service—when it was really my mistake.

by:

This harness was extremely easy to install and fit nicely inside the trim panel and it didn't require any splicing as there was already a ground bolt right below the left tail-light. It also maintains a strong current so trailer lights are equally as bright as vehicle lights.

Highly recommended!

by:

Very easy to install. I did not like the idea of the wiring just hanging in the trunk area, so I cut an opening into the storage compartment on the side trim panel so I could feed the wiring into it and keep it there when not in use.

Easy to install. Works just like it should. The etrailer installation videos are great.

by:

The price was reasonable, delivery was fast, and the installation video was super helpful.

by:

The vehicle wiring harness is working very well.

by:

Easy installation, took approx 25 minutes or so. Pulled back trim and plugged in... EASY. Came with everything I needed including fuses, twist ties, and adhesive for unit.

Must difficult part was making sure I could find the right fuse locations in the car to add.

Bought with receiver kit. Whole installation took approximately 45 minutes (a little longer to make sure wiring was put in place).

2 days later used it unexpectedly to retrieve friend's broken down vehicle... worked great!

PERFECT PLUG AND PLAY. EASY INSTALLATION

by:

Easy install, works as described. Wish there was an easy way to hide or keep wires out of the way, but that is on me. Also like that etrailer is asking me for a review a year later, which gives me more confidence in reviews I read.

  • What is the Extra Connection With White Wire on Curt 4-Way Harness for 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56378 has the second white quick connect and wire to give you the backup camera function. It is a through wire to allow that system to function correctly. If you have the backup camera, there will be a connection next to the other 4 wire connection point for you to plug it into.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56161 is not a fit for your 2012 Honda Odyssey. It is only a confirmed fit for 2005 to 2010 models. For your 2012 model, you would need # C56378 which replaced the C56118. If that is the model you have, then I recommend checking the connections behind the driver's side trim panel in the rear cargo area of your Odyssey. Check the pins to ensure there are no bent pins and then make sure the ground connection...

  • What Wiring Harness and Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2014 Honda Odyssey?
For wiring to add a brake controller to your tear trailer when towing with your 2014 Honda Odyssey, the vehicle must first have a 4-way wiring harness. If you need a 4-way, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118521. This harness comes with a better converter box than the Curt # C56378 or the Hopkins # HM11143114. Once the 4-way is installed, you are ready for the 7-way.
