Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. The specific location for your vehicle is indicated in the included instructions.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I ordered the Curt T Connector for my 2007 Honda Pilot so I could pull my boat and utility trailers around. The online ordering process was easy and it arrived on the date they said it would. etrailer also had a video on the installation process which made everything as easy as plug and go! Thank you etrailer for taking care of all of my trailering needs!
Installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and ordered this wiring kit for the lights.
Can't be any easier to install this - find the male connector under the plastic paneling and plug it in!
(Only fault is that the double-sided tape to mount the fuse box was dried out and brittle.)
Would definitely recommend the Curt brand.
Easy installation, works great , fast shipping, would buy again.
This is a great item, it makes wiring for a trailer easy and avoids cutting an splicing wires. It's the only way to go!!! Your video only shows connecting the harness and leaving it in the storage area and just pulling it out of the hatch when needed. I prefer to have it mounted outside, with the access holes in the Honda Pilot this is an easy task. Also reusing the factory plugs using a soldering Iron to make a hole for the wire and a razor knife to cut a slit, with a little silicon caulk you get a great water tight seal
Another great product through etrailer.com along with timely shipping! The Curt wiring harness is top quality, excellent materials and decent instructions. I was able to install in my Honda Pilot in less than 30 minutes, which included removing an old round 4-prong harness. Ready to tow!
The connector works fine. Took me a little while to figure that out since my trailer apparently has some broken wires somewhere, but a little time turning lights on and off and probing the connector with a multi-meter let me figure out that it worked correctly and the problem was the trailer.
The install on the other hand sucked. The instructions were just plain wrong. Maybe they work for a Pilot or whatever it was based on, but it’s not even close for an Element. Fortunately, I found a YouTube video.
I had to take the rear passenger seat out and all the interior rear passenger side wall trim from C-pillar to tailgate to get to that stupid connector. It could have been accessed by just removing the right rear taillight if only you could grab it to pull it through a hole in the body panel, but I could not get any tool to hold it well enough to pull it through.
So Honda made it harder than necessary. It definitely should have been as easy as the instructions showed. They definitely should have put it in the same location as shown in the instructions. But they didn’t. It is significantly more time consuming than the instructions showed.
Installed in 5 minutes. All lights working. Got a 2005 Honda Pilot.
Installed on a 2006 Honda CR-V. The Honda connector is taped to the wiring at the left taillight and is a relative pain to get to. The instruction sheet shows everything except the 12vdc outlet that has to be pulled out so the plastic cover can be moved aside. That outlet just press fits into the plastic, so pull straight out. When the converter was checked with an LED tester I noticed that the stop/turn LEDs dimmed when the taillights were on. So I built a "real" tester from 1157 bulbs, sockets, and a trailer side connector to match my trailer's system. It did not work at all!! Turns out this converter needs voltage higher than 12vdc to work, so with the car running at 14vdc it was fine. Turned the car off and tested as the voltage dropped back to 12vdc. Worked at first, then one side stopped, then the other. Makes me concerned with how this will work during the daytime when the Honda ELD keeps the alternator turned off. May have to drive with lights ON to make the ELD boost the voltage.
After a year this still works perfectly. Great product, not too difficult to install, as advertised. Not my first product from etrailer and I expect to continue to buy all my receivers and harnesses from them
Thank you for the informative video instructions as well as helpful / honest reviews to research prior to making the purchase. I do not have anything to add that has not been covered in the reviews. Here is a recap of my experience that has been consistent with others.
1. Box was received with the driver side of the hitch pushed out. Only minor scratches which you can not see when installed and it did not impact the installation. Wrapping each end would probably be a good idea as stated in other reviews.
2. Removing 14 years of rust was the hardest part of the install (from the passenger side holes). Total time was approximately 1 hour as others have experienced. I used the bolts from the factory tie hook to work out the rust using 1/2" round wire brush attached to a cordless drill along with a full can of WD-40.
3. Installation of the hitch took about 30 minutes with assistance of a foot stool.
4. Plug-n-play electrical connector took about 10 minutes after watching the video.
5. Perfect fitment, fast delivery, easy website ordering experience and follow-up status notifications, and I can not be more pleased with the cost being under $200 for a DIY project.
I required this setup to tow a ~1,000 lb motorcycle trailer with a ~1,000 lb motorcycle next week and my Honda has a 3,500 lb towing capacity.
Thank you etrailer.com!
Such an easy addition to be able to tow a trailer! Literally plug and play. Fantastic instructions from etrailer too!
Installing this hitch on my Pilot was SUPER easy. It took me less than an hour from the moment UPS dropped it off! Although it was recommended to lower the tailpipe, I was able to get the hitch in there without needing too. Thanks for the clear video on how to install the hitch and wiring harness.
Exacto lo qué pedí muy buen producto y precios lo recomiendo
The tow hitch receiver fits perfectly and looks great also intalled the wiring and its perfect
I am very pleased with the product and shiping was fast. Thanks a lot etrailer!!
Easy install following video. Plugged into existing wiring harness under panel near stow away.
Great hitch install wasn’t too bad because of two center bolts you put one of them in, the rest is fairly easy. Good ground clearance and with my bump step installed I have a little rear end protection
Works great fits like a glove it's a great Plug and Play trailer wire harness for my 2003 honda element
Installation was fairly easy. Some panel removal was required, but that was the only difficult part. Took maybe an hour or so to install, test, and put everything back. Worked great for my occasional towing needs.
Plug in and play! 5 minute install!
Wicked fast shipping!

I wouldn't recommend this wiring harness to anyone, I received mine and it appeared to be in perfect shape however upon going to use it the harness just simply didn't work at all! This forced me to go to the local O'Reilly's where I was at the time and purchase a different brand of harness which worked flawlessly as soon as it was plugged in! I don't recall the brand or manufacturer of the one O'Reilly sold me but I haven't had a lick of trouble with it for over a year now!
Great wiring. Easy connecting. Fast s hipping
I bought the class 3 hitch and wiring harness for my 99 crv. I had watched the installation video before receiving the parts and it seemed pretty straightforward. When it arrived, I installed it during my lunch in 35 minutes and the fit and finish looks factory! The next day during lunch installed the wiring harness in about 20 minutes. It uses the factory connector and tucks away invisible untill you need it. I am THRILLED with the product and looking forward to using it. The car is rated for a 1000 lbs towing and the hitch is overkill, but I already had the 2" insert and ball and the price is the same as a lighter duty hitch. To me it seems the best deal on the market.
Excellent, Quick delivery, plugged it in and worked. t
Ordered my Curt trailer hitch on Nov. 16 and received it on Nov.18. A dealer wanted to charge me $360. plus tax for material and installation. . My cost for hitch and wiring $xxx. for my 2006 CR-V. Watched the videos and installed all of it by myself within an hour and a half.
Extremely satisfied with the service and the product. If I had not watched the videos I would not have tried it. Thank you Etrailer and Katie in customer service. I will use your service and recommend you to others.

Everything is working properly and if I ever need any similar products I’m sure I will purchase them from etrailer.
Great hitch! Easy to install and has held up great over the last year. I use it quite often to tow my 4 wheeler and tractor. Great price for a well made hitch. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great hitch.

Thank you for your interest in my satisfaction! I find it hard to believe you can follow up on every purchase made online but I feel good that you are asking for my opinion.Let me assure you that I am completely, 100 satisfied with the Curt hitch and wiring harness that I bought. It was a piece of cake to install ok, Im a mechanic and it is probably stronger than the car I installed it on. I have pulled my trailer with complete confidence and am delighted in the products you offer.Thank you!
